Mum2be i completely sympathise with you and those connected to your school just now. what an awful situation to be in. the fact that He knew the age group of most of the cast before writing the script and then writing it in such a way is ridiculous. in eyes it looks like a publicity stunt, especially as it was he that took the story to the press. what an awful situation for you all to be put in! as a teacher and or a parent there is a lot of serious decision making to be had.

your poor HT, what a first year to have.

ps does your school know yet about you'r pregnancy?

Right, im going to catch up on the thread. hopeful this post will only appear once. apologies if its repeated x

ok so apparently twice bitten etc..

It looks like MN mobile is having some duplicate posting issues. Just incase you hadnt noticed
I have contacted MN regarding it.

NOTE TO SELF - NEVER POST FROM MY MOBILE AGAIN!!!!!!

Spagbolagain · 08/07/2011 08:33

Ha ha shonno not again!
I have given up on mobile stuff for MN. I got the iPhone app, keeps crashing despite installing several times. MN and newfangled stuff doesn't seem to mix too well!

I think I felt a little flutter yesterday. Can't be completely sure, could be wind of course. Am 14+2 so it's a few weeks earlier than with DS. But it did feel very fluttery squirmy baby-like. If it comes back today I'll be convinced!

Off to mothercare this morning (day off) to buy some clothes to cover my rapidly expanding midriff.

shonnomanom · 08/07/2011 08:42

Yes Spagbol they do seem to be having some technical difficulties dont they! Major MN Mobile boycott happening from Shonnomanom World!

Congrats on the successful scans. And welcome and Congrats to all the new ladies & bumps!!
My hospital do 1 blood test straight after doing the Nuchal Screening. I was told 3 weeks for the results. I had to wait to my Scan date to get the results of the blood tests done at my initial MW appointment.

Had a very restless night. And dreams of Celery Hmm. Result was a growth spurt in the belly department. Going clothes shopping after work and will need to get new knickers as even my 'fat day' pants are getting tight!

Roll on 12noon for a 1 and half week holiday!!!!!!

abeautifulbutterfly · 08/07/2011 08:53

Hi all,
Had my NT scan yesterday and it was great! My heart just melts at those pictures. And above all, the genetic risk factors are very low, which has put my mind at rest. Theoretically it's brought my EDD date forward but I'm leaving it as it is because my babies are always overdue anyway... (and it was brought forward to 11th Jan and I don't like the number 11 - weird me or what?) Have PAP-A blood test results to come through in a week but hopefully they won't skew the figures any.
I've been feeling what seem like flutters for a week or so now. Def. not wind because they're in the wrong place but I never felt anything this early with either of the others so I can't decide if it's just wishful thinking or not :)

Also had chaotic birthday party for DD2 (6) yesterday, with bouncy castle and what seemed like dozens of kids dashing round the garden but it was great fun, most of the parents are our friends to one degree or another so we all sat around eating cake and enjoying the first lovely hot day in nearly 3 weeks. DH's brother came and have promised us a car seat and buggy for LO, and someone else is lending me some maternity clothes (my mum also gave me some money to buy myself a nice dress and I desperately need new bigger bras, so I can feel a shopping spree coming on Grin.

Have a good weekend y'all!

mummyzoe2012 · 08/07/2011 12:34

Sassylassie I had fun getting blood taken too - took two people and four places. Confused

kdiddy great to hear about your scan - must be amazing! Sigh a week today... Been so worried I just want the scan to confirm there's someone in there and there's a heartbeat etc..

Its weird that its still considered early pregnancy when we're a third of the way through!! Looking fwd to trimester 2 - better live up to its reputation.. Wink

Joy33 · 08/07/2011 13:00

..And congrats to abeautifulbutterfly and anyone else who's just had one!x

Moobee · 08/07/2011 15:02

Lovely to hear the news from all those having their scans, it's wonderful seeing those first slightly strange images!

Has anyone else started thinking of names? I have come up with a few but my husband pulls a face at most of them. The only names he's come up with are ones beginning with Z: Zaphod (I stipulated this was only allowed if the baby had two heads), Zachariah, Zebedee etc. I don't know if he's joking.

I told him about one girls name I liked because it had a lovely sense of rhythm so he suggested 'RumpityBumpity' instead.

I'm hoping he gets more serious in the coming months... He did say we need to see it first before thinking about it. I like to plan ahead where as he likes to deal with immediate tasks. It's hard though - I really want to get a head start!

sassylassie · 08/07/2011 18:31

Moobee, your post made me giggle. Was he starting at Z and working backwards? :o My DH is similar. He was coming up with names of Roman emperors. Augustus or Tiberius anyone? Last week we went through the entire list of names on www.babynames.co.uk and only found about 5 we could agree on, and even some of those I'm not sure about now. Bit superstitious/shy so not ready to share them yet, esp. not before the scan.

mummyzoe2012 Sounds like your timing is close to mine! I also had an early scan at 10 weeks 5 days and was 12 weeks yesterday (well according to the dating at the scan rather than the EDD my MW originally gave me).

Congrats everyone who's already had their scans. Can't wait!

shonnomanom · 08/07/2011 19:38

Congrats on all the good scans ladies!

moobee We decided to choose 2 boy names and 2 girl names then when the baby was born we decided which name suited best.
I know a few people that have used this approach. It might be the best of both worlds for you and your OH

Moobee · 08/07/2011 20:56

Sassylassie, I thin he just loves Z! Grin Hmm, Roman Emperors - they are powerful names at least...

I'm the same, I don't want to share potential names yet, I don't know why but I'm keeping them secret. I think it'll be quite special to tell people after the birth. There is one name I liked which I shared with my parents: Edward. Unfortunately, our surname is Bull and instantly my family said "eddie bull! Mmm good enough to eat" and then fell about laughing.

Glad we didn't make the mistake of calling the baby that!

Moobee · 08/07/2011 21:01

Sho - good idea, I'm trying to encourage a shortlist.

knittiekitty · 08/07/2011 21:59

I've been away from the thread for two weeks and so much has happened that it's taken me ages to read through and catch up on the news. Cogratulations for all the scans, and good look for those still waiting! It's so agonising to wait but so exciting to see them flashing away on screen.
We had a week on the coast in Cumbria which was lovely. The weather was sunny, the sea almost warm and dd was thrilled by paddling with dh. I was retchy throughout so glad that she was so easily occupied! I had two days of feeling better this week and then got steadily worse before being sent home from work on Thursday. Someone left something stinky in the office fridge that set me off. I feel so embarrassed retching at my desk. I'm nearly 15 weeks and don't need to glow, just to stop feeling so miserable!
Moobee - Eddie Bull made me laugh, there's so many potential naming gaffes to be had, that's a good one!

I'm going to have a go at updating the list as my dates went back 2 days and that does fit. My dd came nearly 3 weeks early so I'm expecting/hoping to be a little bit early this time too!

Wormshuffler · 09/07/2011 05:09

Morning fellow 2nd trimesterers! Grin I am up at this ungodly hour so thought I would do my first proper post since tentatively joining the group!
I too have been feeling flutters abeautifulbutterfly which I was convinced are movements, until I could feel them while been scanned and the baby was very much asleep!! (your most definately are movements though Grin )

moobee Grin at eddie bull! I have been looking at names and jotting them down when I get a nice one in my head. I have also found myself scrutinizing the Eddie Stobart trucks looking for ideas! Zach is on my list too sassy I don't think I will share any of my ideas with people in RL until at least 35 weeks (if at all) as I don't want to be put off them.

Right I am going to try and nod off on the sofa now, have been awake since 3am, had to get up to Envy at 4, but feel better after having had a Brew
Have a restful weekend girls!

Moobee · 09/07/2011 06:18

Knittiekitty and wormshuffler - I was still wondering if it's a boy whether I could get away with calling them Edward and just insisting no-one calls them Eddie, but I know my parents couldn't resist taking the mickey. I've told my mum Terri I won't be able to ever name a child after her either - that would be even worse! :).

Knittiekitty - Cumbria sounds lovely. We have 2/3 weeks booked as leave in august and we're still thinking of where to go. I'll be about 20-22 weeks and we're thinking of camping in the uk. There's so many lovely places in the uk.

wormshuffler I feel your early morning pain, I got up at 4am today too. Have no excuse though, just can't go back to sleep, boo!

fifitrixabelle78 · 09/07/2011 07:36

Hi ladies- I'm up too- don't seem to be able to sleep beyond 06:30 even at weekends now. This is both hysterical (as I'm renowned for my long lie-ins) and infuriating as I have to get up this early on workdays and am so exhausted I'm needing afternoon nap virtually every day.

Oh well- at least the (high-maintenance) cat is happy- he gets to go out when I get up- so Brownie points from him.

Still nauseated but can't decide if it's a little better or if I've just got so used to it that I've lost perspective on what's normal! Need to eat every 2 hours for sure, or am gagging and retching. 15/40 today so really hope it improves soon.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Mum2be79 · 09/07/2011 09:08

Shonno

School know about pregnancy. They have done since I was 5 weeks!

We all had a brilliant night out last night. Since our HT arrived, we've all become a lot closer and after this, we're closer than ever! I work with brilliant staff (some of them for the past 11 years and feel as though I've grown up in front of them) and our HT is ace! Not just saying that because of what has happened, but she really is! She's done wonders for our school and made us all believe in ourselves again.

There's about 100 children that we know of that have pulled out because they don't want to be part of his publicity stunt. Of the remaining 200,a lot of those wouldn't have come anyhow and only 30 turned up to the first full cast rehearsal. Opera North are slightly worried but as rehearsals begin at the Spa during school time next week, kids may think differently.

I introduced peanut to clubbing last night. With one hand on my bump and one hand in the air, we had a good boogie! I'm suffering from lots of pains at the moment. Being my first I'm not sure if it's growing pains or wind! Seeing my MW on 20th July for my 16 week appointment so I'll chat then with her. Got a VERY definite bump. HT loves it! (She's quite maternal anyways!)

So pleased it's the weekend and only 2 more weeks to go before my 'holiday'.

Mum2be79 · 09/07/2011 10:16

I have a 1 in 25,000 risk of my baby having downs syndrome. Really pleased with that result.

ghosteditor · 09/07/2011 14:58

mum2be79 wow those are long odds! Must be good to hear. I haven't had my letter yet, but I haven't had a phone call either so I'm assuming it's ok.

Just found out my scan date will be 17 august, so I'll only be 18+6 weeks, but reading up on the anomaly scan it seems like 18-20 weeks is normal. I'm not 100% sure but it looks like DH may even be able to come along! Yeys! In fact he's due home anytime now after spending the better part of the last 9 weeks away! Grin

Mum2be79 · 09/07/2011 15:04

My 20 week scan is 12th August. I'll be 19 weeks and 5 days. We're having it 3 days before we fly to Madeira for two weeks for our 'Babymoon'. Last holiday as a couple.

Curlygirl72 · 09/07/2011 18:38

Sassy and zoe, we must b v close as I was officially 12 wks yesterday too! Celebrated with half a glass of wine, naughty I know but still on honeymoon in Italy and it's hard not to partake! Can't wait for scan when we're back, then can truly relax into 2nd tri.
Being away is heaven, sleeping a lot!! Eating lots too, def have a bump now but think some of it is pasta... Made sure I got a seat on the bus in Rome though!! There are perks for sure...
