Forgot to say yesterday, we got the results for the Nuchal scan. The letter says 'it is very unlikely that your baby will have Down's Syndrome'. Our chances are 'Lower than the cut-off of 1 in 250.'
We werent worried about it but its nice to know the results.

Hi Livened - we have the same due date, although my scan is only next Thursday, so I'll be closer to 13 weeks.

On a more serious note - what is everyone's view on very light brown spotting? (sorry if TMI) I had some last week and more again this morning. As I say, very light, and no other symptoms. Should I worry?

capybara i've had a tiny bit of discoloured discharge this morning and due 22nd Jan. Scary isn't it? TMI, but it only seems to happen after I have 'strained' a little on the loo so I'm hoping it is nothing to worry about. Scan on Tues.

Thanks supa - fingers crossed it's nothing! I've been Googling (obvs) and as always the information is mixed. Better to wait for the scan, as you say :)

p.s. do you think it might be because we're around the time of our third missed period?

well after 6 weeks off work im finally being alowed back on friday as sickness was subsiding but its starting to increase again now.

12 weeks on friday! feels great knowing that we only got 6 more months till we see our babys!!!!

I think I've felt some slight movements in the last few days, especially when I was cuddling my cousins two day old baby yesterday

Hi just bought a belly belt from amazon and it really works well. They have to one for buttons and one for clips like you get on some skirts and trousers. I think this might be good for those who don't want to or can't find maternity clothes for work. I use it on might tighter jeans and now my belly is a lot happier.

Also got my results for the nucal fold to and baby seems fine which the sonographer said she couldn't see any increased fluid on baby's neck.

Hi livened and congratulations. Giraffe, I think I've felt movements too but so slight I can't really be sure. All those good nuchal results are brilliant news.
Capybara, I had something similar in my first pregnancy and was told then it was just things stretching, not sure if that's true but she's almost 5 now so it was all fine whatever caused it!
According to my midwife I am now 13 weeks and STILL NO SCAN or even an appointment for one. I had a dream last night that I was expecting twins, not helped by watching that show about the sextuplets the night before! I'm almost ready to pay for one privately I'm getting so fed up, I'll be 14 weeks at the earliest before I get a scan by the looks of it! Grrrrrr!! I'm getting really big but I don't want to tell anyone until I've had the scan.

hey ladies! welcome livened - good luck with the scan. It's soooo exciting - I really loved it. Still not sure it's sunk in that I'm going to be producing a real human person at the end of it all though

I'm 13 weeks today (dates revised after scan) and have now told both sets of parents, siblings, friends, work, and my hockey team. So relieved to get it out of the way and I'm finding telling people easier as time goes on. I've just been sort of blurting it out until now! My boss was great and has promised to look after the process and educate our colleagues about mat leave rights. I do still need to tell a few non-local friends and the rest of my colleagues but the pressure has gone a bit now that all family know and there aren't going to be any accidental facebook revelations (thanks to whoever posted above with the turning off fb wall procedure; was a great idea)

capy I haven't been though this but have read a lot about it on MN, font of all wisdom, and consensus seems to be that small amounts of dark blood are common if not strictly normal. Maybe you could call the MW? There's always a chance they might bump up your scan? I did have a very light, quite red, bleed at around 5 or 6 weeks which (frankly) was after sex and probably just my body adjusting. Haven't had a problem since. I didn't do anything about that as it stopped within about 18 hours.

My boss's son has chickenpox and I've never had it before. I presume I'm ok since I haven't been rubbing myself up against my colleagues at any point?

I did read up on chickenpox a while ago as it seems to be doing the rounds and I'm at risk. It seems crazy that I haven't had it since my mum and her parents have all had shingles repeatedly and my brother has had chickenpox (when I was about 5).

The NHS website seems to indicate I should see my GP but since I haven't actually come into contact with the sufferer, perhaps I'm overreacting....

I would assume you'd be ok as you haven't been in direct contact but call your mw if worried a little. You would probably be offered an immunity test just to see if you are immune to it. You may have had it without the spots (can happen!) it might be worth it just so you know either way anyway in case you come into contact with anyone again?

As he has been in contact it would probably be best anyway just to be on the safe side. I would if it were me. (posted before i had finished)

Hi ladies, haven't had time to cath up on the 5 pages i'm behind on but just to let you know had my 2nd attempt at dating scan today and alls well, they did the NF test and it was less than 2m so looking good.

thanks blueeyed. My MW will be at the GP's tomorrow so I might just call up and see if I can check with her [steels self for confrontation with evil-receptionists]. It may be worth having the immunity test - after so much exposure to it, perhaps I just didn't develop many symptoms.

Found out that I was pregnant in week 4, slightly self conscious buying some home tests in the supermarket.. which of course set off the security alarms resulting in shouts of "Its just Pregnancy Tests" echoing round the shop (hmm)

Anyone else getting quite big about wk 12??

I've just found my way here too! I found the first Jan 2012 thread and then realised it was full and got a bit lost. I had an emergency scan last week due to severe abdominal pain - after 3 hours of agony my husband drove me to the early pregnancy unit and they did an internal scan. Thankfully all looked fine. The midwife later said that she had suspected an ectopic pregnancy. They dated me at 10 weeks and 5 days last Tuesday so if that's right I should be 12 weeks today!

Got my "proper" dating/Nuchal scan next Tuesday 12th July - I'm excited and nervous too. I'm 38 and it's my first pregnancy so I've been getting a bit anxious about the risks etc. I found out at 4 weeks too and was absolutely over the moon, but these last 8 weeks have gone SO slowly! Apart from the complete exhaustion and sickness and then this scare last week, it's just been not being able to tell people that's been really hard.

And yes I do seem to be starting to show now too! Makes it all feel real. :)

Meant to say the midwife gave me an EDD of 23rd Jan (although scan last week would date me at 19th Jan) Anyone here with the same date?

Thanks supadupapupascupa. Been lurking on MN for a while but still figuring out how it all works... Good luck with your scan too! Mine was originally going to be next Friday, but when they dated me last Tues at 10+5 I was really keen to move it forward. I thought maybe 13+1 was slightly late if any problems showed up.

This is probably a stupid question, but can anyone tell me whether I will have blood tests with my scan next week? From what I've read most people seem to have these, but my letter (and my MW appointment) only mentions the dating/nuchal scan. Is it just standard to get blood tests or is it likely that I'll only have the scan?

Hi and welcome! I had bloods taken with the nuchal scan, they calculated the risk based on both. Although my letter only talked about the scan, I had a load of blood forms in the back of my notes which the MW had filled in. Have you got any of those?

Hi sassy and welcome to the list! I had my scan this week and I don't think my letter mentioned anything about a blood test. However, I signed up for the nuchal scan so they took one vial of blood. The phlebotomist was very efficient and it didn't hurt at all, unlike at the MW a few weeks ago!
