No baby yet here either. I had my 41-week appointment this morning and got my first sweep. I was between 2-3 cm dilated and my cervix is soft, but it?s still a bit posterior and the baby isn?t quite deeply enough engaged.

I feel like a bit of a problem child now as I declined booking an induction appointment for next week at 40+13, especially as I had to make myself a PITA a few weeks ago, switching midwives and pushing for my home birth. If things don?t get going over the weekend, I have to see a consultant on Monday afternoon to discuss my options, as they?ll need to start monitoring the baby. The system is definitely used to people going with the flow rather than researching and questioning their options.

In any case, I?m really hoping things progress soon so this doesn?t become a huge battle. I?ve been feeling quite crampy today, but it?s probably more because of the sweep than anything else.

Anything developing curiouselle and millie?

Thanks for sharing your birth stories Crazy and Almighty.

Sorry things didn?t get going on their own, Jasmine. I hope everything is going well with your induction and that you?ll have some good news to report very soon!

Hope things are progressing well Nurse!

Sorry you?re feeling disheartened Confessions and Mummyofprawn. I hope things kick off for you both soon.

Grin at Clarkiee typing with her toes!

Another quick update from me as still in hospital and have nicked dos I phone for a mo whilst ruby is napping. She is out of special care now and on ward with me but we are here til monday or tues. Can't wait to get home! Breathing fine and she is feisty and strong. I am fresh as a daisy considering, no cuts or tears and a very positive labour experience after all my worrying. Looking forward to catching up with thread when home - sending lots of oxytocin vibes to those who need them!

HalleLouja · 24/06/2011 14:33

Fingers crossed to baby Ruby and 8rd* going home is fab after a long hospital stay - though a bit of the shock to the system after being in hospital and having lots of one on one time with the baby.

Clarkie as I fed on demand we had no real routine with DS until much later but it did come and I have to hope it comes again in the next couple of months.

Thinking of nurse and Jasmine......

milliemuffin · 24/06/2011 17:23

Sorry about the very quick post but we're thinking of going for a Thai curry as recommended by my reflexologist (new restaurant in letchworth), I remember a couple of ladies on here tried it, any recommendations on what to have?

NoToast · 24/06/2011 17:24

Not had time to read through messages or post lately, will try to get a mumsnet hour in tomorrow. Not many of us in the waiting room now, positive vibes to PerpetualProvocateur, TTL , nurse, Coaff and Jasmine and everyone else, fingers crossed all goes the way you want.

Wanted to say thanks again to everyone who sent me messages after I posted about my birth story. I felt supported and that helped me process what had happened, whether the words were advice or empathic outrage! Am feeling positive now and hope that Barbie who had a similar experience is feeling better. (Barbie I didn't realise at first that your DP hadn't seen the birth, am so sorry and not surprised that has made you sad).

My lovely community midwife is back from hols and came round today- another of her ladies went through a similar fast labour and was ignored a couple of days after me, so she will be bringing this up as an issue with the ward sister. She advised me to send my birth notes to the head of midwifery and I'll be doing this in the hope that it will improve things.

Hope everyone with LOs is enjoying them and managing to get enough (or at least some) sleep. We are totally in love with Rosalind!

Good news! Maisie doesnt have to go back into hospital as her jaundice isn't too bad! Just need to put her near the window a bit and make sure she is feeding well which she is right now!! Grin

milliemuffin · 24/06/2011 20:00

That was the yummiest meal I have had in a long time. Thai Green Curry, yummy :) I also had reflexology earlier so fingers crossed something happens this weekend! Hope everyone is well and having a nice evening xx

neenewps · 25/06/2011 09:48

crazy great news about Maisie. I'm pleased that she is ok.

8RD Congratulations. I don't know if I have already congratulated you as my brain is somewhere else right now! Knew you would beat me to it :) I'm still very much in the waiting room!

Millie I had a curry last night too but it has done bugger all apart from make me fart more! Hmm

Still thinking of jasmine and nurse... well actually I'm very eager to hear their news :)

milliemuffin · 25/06/2011 10:40

Neenewps It was quite windy in my house last night aswell but that's the only effect it had.

Kids are back home late this aft, was really hoping I'd have a baby to show them :(

Think DP & I are going to go to the cinema, can't sit around waiting all day.

Great news about Maisie

So, who's going to be next??

PerpetualProvocateur · 25/06/2011 11:01

I'm hoping that the lack of posts this morning means we have some more baby news on the way!

Nothing happening here. Time is literally standing still and everyone is driving me mad hovering and asking for news.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 25/06/2011 11:14

I'm not in labour. I'm no where near actually. I might have to bake a cake to make myself feel better (cept I really can't be arsed).

That is all.

PerpetualProvocateur · 25/06/2011 11:35

Sorry, Confessions. This is horrible, isn't it?

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 25/06/2011 11:43

Yep. Am feelinf your pain (or lack there of Grin) PP.

Right I need to stop moping and go do something. Maybe chocolate cake.

milliemuffin · 25/06/2011 11:56

Only 5.5 days left of June - come on babies!!!!!!

PerpetualProvocateur · 25/06/2011 12:02

Mmm, chocolate cake. May have to do some baking myself!

I just made a reflexology appointment for this afternoon. Can't hurt!

PerpetualProvocateur · 25/06/2011 12:04

Any twinges Millie? I'm feeling a bit crampy, but nothing exciting.

curiouselle · 25/06/2011 12:41

40+4 today and going mental! want to have baby now! I feel irrationally grumpy about being overdue. Going for long walk now :(

AlmightyCitrus · 25/06/2011 13:30

How many are still waiting now? Hope we have a bumper weekend!

On another note, my norks have swollen to epic proportions (and they are bloody massive to start with).

I've just dropped 2 of the DC's off at school for the local fair thing, and the poor little (male) student teacher on the door could barely speak! Grin
DH is mightily impressed though!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 25/06/2011 13:32

Another flying visit from me while Cara sleeps!! She is doing well, saw MW and she is 1oz below her birth weight so will go back next week to get discharged.
She had a gunky eye yesterday morning but have cleaned it with cooled boiled water and have been treating it with BM and this morning it is free of gunk. MW said BM was best thing for it!
She is still going 3-4 hours asleep at night but she often won't settle straight away in her cot so generally end up with her asleep in my arms - with me on my side and her resting in the crook of my arm. Only problem is that I ended up falling asleep before I get a chance to put her in the cot again!

Couriselle - I wouldn't have wanted to go for that walk! We did go for lots of walks when I was contracting but only around the green space up the road from our house.

TTL - PALS weren't much use!! If you can't get an appt how on earth can you arrange a sweep or induction if baby still hasn't made an appearance Confused

PP - I definitely felt like a problem child Blush especially as I fought for my home birth and still ended up in hospital! But everyone was fine about it Smile

8rd - glad to hear Ruby is our of SCBU, hope you can go home soon!

Hallelouja - that was my experience with DS as well he fell into his own routine, only think we introduced was a bed time routine where we put him to bed upstairs in the early evening so we could our evenings free. We will do the same with DD once she cuts down on her cluster feeding!

Millie - hope you enjoy your curry! What are you going to see at the pics? I recommend a fast paced action movie!!

NoToast - glad you have had a chat with your MW and that she is going to do something about your bad experience! BTW - Excellent choice of name, you clearly have good taste Grin

Crazy - yippee that Maisie doesn't have to go back to hospital!

Neenewps - just don't fart at the MWs Wink

Confessions - cake is a good cure all Smile

I really do feel for you ladies who are still waiting! C'mon babies we want to meet you all!

Hope Nurse and Jasmine are okay and snuggling squidgy newborns!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 25/06/2011 13:51

Have realised that the cake I wanted to make has a problem. I don't have the recipe!!! I've emailed my Mum for it, but as she's in NZ and asleep, it's going to be at least tomorrow before I can make it. I could do banana cake in the mean time, but I have my heart set on that choc cake now...

I am making myself trudge up and down the stairs as often as possible in the mean time Grin

Sorry, a me post but need to get it off my chest.

Baby is sitting right on a nerve at the edge of my pubic bone and it's made the top of my right leg go numb. It actually hurts so I've just had some paracetamol. Also feeling a bit rough, hot and feeble :( I didn't have much for lunch, just fruit loaf but I wasn't hungry. Also starting to worry as DP will be back at work on Monday and I don't think I can face another week with the kids on my own during the day, so uncomfortable :(

PerpetualProvocateur · 25/06/2011 19:32

Reflexology was great, nice and relaxing. I'm hoping the combination of that, the sweep I had yesterday, and the curry and pineapple I'm about to eat will have some results tonight. Will have to pounce on DH for some sex and nipple stimulation Blush

Kara, glad little Cara is doing so well!

Confessions, did you manage to get your chocolate fix in the end?

SSD, my dates from charting are also different from my 'official' due date based on my 12-week scan, meaning I believe I am currently 40+3 rather than 40+8. The MWs won't take this into consideration, but it makes a big difference when you are trying to avoid being induced. I have to see a consultant on Monday to discuss my options since I have refused to book induction at this stage, and I'm hoping he will take my dates more seriously. I did take the sweep at my 41-week appointment (believing I was at 40+2) , but if you are opposed to it, definitely stand your ground. If you did get one, though, it wouldn't preclude you getting another one next week if it wasn't effective.

Millie, sorry you're feeling so rubbish. Any chance your DP could take a day off to give you a break with the kids?
