My DS was 11 days early but when I had DD who was due 27/12 I was convinced she'd be either a Xmas baby or anytime after that. I went to DPs Xmas Do on 11/12 feeling great, had a very productive day packing my dog and DS off to my mums, felt great, ate my Xmas pud, sent my friend a text saying what a great night I was having then pop! My waters went, big style!! I also had a great night the night before I had DS, I watched Pearl Harbour til 1am and offered to pickup DP from the pub as I was feeling very happy and awake. I know this one could be the complete opposite though so I remain open minded. Xx

milliemuffin · 17/06/2011 08:34

Congrats CMH!! Love the name. DS's middle name is James same as DP. Sorry to hear about your feeding probs but sounds like you're doing well. Xx

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 17/06/2011 08:59

Congratulations Labella and CMH. It's always lovely to have baby news in the morning Grin.

EDD tomorrow and going to a 3yr olds Bday today. Wish me luck! Grin

Merlion · 17/06/2011 10:29

Congrats labella and cmh! Yay more boys!

Joannezipan · 17/06/2011 10:31

Congratulations CMH! such good news.

I just woke up and the back ache has gone away a bit... I think I'm going to hibernate today. I don't think anything is going to happen today though.

Joannezipan · 17/06/2011 10:41

Also, what is going on with the drooling?!?! I actually had a puddle on my pillow 3 times in the night!Blush

Just wanted to pop back and update... I last posted a week ago that I was in labour and scared, and didn't have time to update again before we dashed off to hospital. My beautiful little girl was born later that evening :)

We have had a few issues, but we are finally back home now.

Thank you for all the kind words of support you posted a week ago, and hope everything is going well for everyone else!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 17/06/2011 10:52

CMH - congrats on your little boy, that was a good weight considering he was 10 days early! What have they advised re: his tongue tie? Are you getting it snipped?

TTL - I haven't watched OBEM USA, I think it is safe to say regardless of your views on interventions or not, it is safe to say that the mother gets very little choice in how she has her baby in the States unless she is able to speak up very loudly Sad The induction rate quoted in Ina Mary's book was 85% Shock apparently mums are often put under pressure to have one before they really need one as the anaethetist(sp?) is about to finish for the day...

Almighty - I hope you are okay and are coping with the pain.

I actually had a good night last night, went to bed with dd at 10:30, she had a feed then slept until 2am, then had a couple of big feeds and went down again at 3:45am, then slept until 7:30 Shock She had some more big feeds not long after she woke up. I actually woke up before her!!

takethatlady · 17/06/2011 11:06

Congratulations tabitha :) Sorry to hear you've had issues but glad you're home now. Must be a relief!

kara I'll definitely watch OBEM USA on 4OD. I don't have strong views on interventions at all - well, I suppose I strongly think 'each to their own' and feel very much open-minded about what I'll use/won't use when I go into labour. Whatever it takes to get you through, I say, and whatever you want or need at the time! But I had no idea that epidurals were at such a high rate in the USA and if that's because women get very little choice in how they deliver that's shocking.

The energy spurt is well and truly over ... off for a kip now. Hope more babies are born soon!

motherofsnortpigs · 17/06/2011 12:04

Oooh! More new babies! Congratulations everyone. Percy and I got home from hospital late on Wednesday. He is fine, but going intermittently yellow/tangerine. They repeated his newborn check in hospital and found 3 (yes, 3!!) anomalies that the GP had missed. He has billateral talipes (club feet) that require physio, a hairy sacral dimple (mini second anus!) that you can't see the end of so he needs an ultrasound scan to check it's sealed, and bilateral single palmar creases which can be a marker for genetic conditions, mainly Down's, although he appears 'normal' in every other respect. I am having to wake him to feed him in the night, but will hopefully be able to stop that before he starts waking out of habit. Last night I woke up and his face was so cold, I was convinced he wasn't breathing. He woke up pretty quickly when I picked him up and shouted his name (so did DH). I didn't go back to sleep very easily.

I am still in more pain than I would like. I've not long taken codeine, so will probably zone out soon.

DH has replaced the screen in his netbook (remember DS breaking it earlier in the year?) and has brought it to me in bed so I can play on it :)

Going overdue is so, so horrid. I send all of you 'labour soon' vibes. millie I had the 'can't do this' panic during labour and sobbed uncontrollably for several minutes. You know you can birth babies, it will all be ok.

moomin and thorny so glad you're thinking of having more babies. I keep bursting into tears because I don't think I'll ever be pregnant again.

Right, snooze time now. Hmm, there's someone outside with a chain saw - I think I'll close the window...must be hedge trimming season.

jimper · 17/06/2011 12:08

Wow - fast moving! Congrats to everyone who has had babies!

Last week I asked for a 'stay baby jimper' shout out but of course she didn't! DH missed the birth but she arrived a few days early and very healthy.

Just out of hospital because of bladder control issues Blush which are not yet resolved. Forceps and stitches and baby stuck on a nerve on the way out - can't even talk about the pain :)

It is a good thing that she is just so gorgeous!

jasmine51 · 17/06/2011 12:17

MOSP good to hear from you and that Percy is having some good care, bless him - hope he gets everything sorted quickly and settles down in the snortpig clan very soon. I wish I was snortpig qualified and I would offer to entertain them for a while so you could have some quality Percy time but I'm sadly inadequate in that area. Always willing to bring snacks over though!

DH has just had a delivery that he's more excited about than the bump. Hes always wanted a flag pole in the front garden (its a military thing) so I ordered him one and he's busy playing with it outside. I have also ordered him a very special flag to fly once our arrival is here but he doesnt know about that yet. Boys eh!

NurseSunshine · 17/06/2011 12:27

Congratulations CMH :) Glad Alexander is a nice healthy weight despite making an early appearance. Hope the tongue tie gets sorted quickly.

Congratulations to Tabitha, Labella and Jimper! We need names!!!

Glad you're home with Percy MOSP. Hope all of his health checks go well. Bit Hmm that the GP missed three things though!

Hope you're feeling a bit better now Millie

TTL I personally find the usbject of 19th century yorkshire fascinating! Am sure book will be a bestseller

Jasmine Oh I see! Well baby will be fine either way thankfully, as she is term now. TBH it is purely for my own comfort that I would have it. Can't take much more of this.

I've got an appointment with the consultant on monday morning to dicuss my options after spending all night in tears. The skin on my hands is so raw now that it hurts to use them at all. For all I know the consultant might flat out refuse but at least I will feel like I've tried everything I can.

NurseSunshine · 17/06/2011 12:28

Ooops sorry Jimper missed the bit about your problems :( Really hope it gets resolved very soon. Are you getting adequate pain relief?

OP posts:
takethatlady · 17/06/2011 12:45

Congratulations jimper! I hope that bladder control quickly takes over from pain. I hope little Percy continues to do well too mosn and that you get to enjoy him worry-free asap :) It's not straightforward this making babies lark, is it? nurse don't feel guilty about inductions and well done for making the appointment for Monday - I hope the weekend is as pain-free as possible.

Grin about the flag jasmine. Men!

Ha! The whole book isn't about C19 Yorkshire nurse but the chapter I was working on last night has lots of geological maps of Yorkshire in it and a bit about Wuthering Heights and stuff ... still, if that doesn't induce labour, nothing will!

crazychic141187 · 17/06/2011 12:52

Has anyone else been through an induction because I am really scared about it??

PerpetualProvocateur · 17/06/2011 13:28

Wow, lots of baby news! Congratulations Labella, CMH, Tabitha and Jimper!

Happy due date to Crumbletastic, my due date buddy! Any signs of labour yet? How about those due yesterday - Jasmine, Nurse, and Joanne?

Good luck Almighty and Oscar! Sorry you're still in limbo Crazy.

Saw the GP for my 40 week appointment today, and it seems that the baby's head is still 2/5 palpable (same as last week). Also got some good news in that he's no longer back-to-back, but is pretty much in optimal position now, presenting from the left.

In any case, my BHs are continuing, becoming increasingly frequent and more intense, and I've been getting more period-type crampy feelings and pressure which feels like the baby bearing down. I haven't felt like it's anything to get particularly excited about yet, but my mum has been inspired to time a few of these as she says there isn't necessarily a dramatic moment when I will know things are getting going, and all of these signs are promising. Fingers crossed...

Merlion · 17/06/2011 13:57

Congratulations Jimper & Tabitha. Sorry to hear both of you had some issues.

MOSP glad to hear Percy home with you now but Shock at the undiscovered issues.

TTL Kara intervention rate must be similar here. I even heard the other day that one of the doctors basically won't let her patients go beyond 41 weeks and if they do basically she won't deliver the baby they have to find another doctor!

Crazy there was a thread fairly recently someone asking for positive induction stories - would probably be worth a look.

Joannezipan · 17/06/2011 14:49

Nothing going on here except uncomfortableness and the return of the back ache. Its not as bad as yesterday though. I'm fed up and I'm only one day over! I would actually welcome someone having a fanny rummage at the moment just to see if anything is happening. DH did offer. He said they always look to see how dilated their wives are in films while on the phone to the ambulance people. Angry I didn't think it was a good idea. I might just go back to bed and sleep until this is over. But I only got up 11. Grrrrrrr. AngryAngryAngryAngryAngry

takethatlady · 17/06/2011 15:04

joanne whereabouts is your back pain? I've got it all over but especially in between the shoulder blades, which is weird. I'm a bit crampy, sore under the ribs and my boobs (especially the left one) really hurt too. :(

NurseSunshine · 17/06/2011 15:20

Joanne If you need to sleep then go and sleep, doesn't matter what time you got up at :) Sending virtual back rubs your way

Perpetual Glad baby's in the right position. Hope things are getting started for you :)

Sarahmumtobe · 17/06/2011 16:13

Hi everyone and congratulations on the births! I'm still going, 37 hours after waters broke, continuing to lose waters. Started getting some cramping last night and getting more regular through today although don't think they are proper contractions. Hoping things hot up as I really don't want an induction and am scheduled for one tomorrow if nothing happening.

HalleLouja · 17/06/2011 17:00

I think moufflon had a really good birth with an induction if I remember correctly. They are not always horror stories.

jasmine51 · 17/06/2011 17:07

Sarah go girl, do some relaxation and visualise your cervix opening, that might help.

Joanne sorry you are fed up. Can you ask a MW to do a fanny rummage to see how things are progressing?

Perpetual come join the waiting room of crampy ladies, there are a few us in here at the mo

Just heard about another birth..wont spoil the announcement, but so pleased, its worth an excited bounce on the birth ball in celebration.

DH is still outside playing with his pole, making some kind of complicated bracket for it. Funny he didnt spend this amount of time helping me put the buggy/cot/shleving together!
