Oh crikey it seems to be kicking off for a few of us here! Have you got a V-pillow Citizen? When my SPD is bad I sleep quite well propped up using that. Hope things start moving for you soon, and also Almighty Smile.

Jasmine I think I remember someone on here talking about bleeding after a sweep at some point over the last couple of weeks, I can't remember what was said but hopefully they will be along soon.

Nurse your itching sounds terrible; I feel very, very sorry for you, and hope it eases off.

Petitech I think those bfeeding cover things are a bit of a waste of cash; I used a large muslin when feeding ds. I would suggest putting the money towards a sling, as they are really useful, and will cover you uo when feeding in the sling.

sasamaxx · 16/06/2011 20:48

Ooohh go Citizen and Almighty

That photo is on my profile now Petitech although tbh it's a terrible picture and doesn't look right at all. I am honestly not about to punch anyone either Wink

neenewps · 16/06/2011 21:22

Exciting stuff... good luck to everyone in labour.

Nurse I'm sorry you are still suffering with the itching. I think you are doing absolutely the best thing by playing it by ear.

Anyone else watching One Born Every Minute USA?? Shock 90% epidural rate and they seem to use stirrups??? I'm not against epidurals whatsoever.. I may request one once I am in the throws of labour but they do seem to offer to everyone straight away??!!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 16/06/2011 21:26

Right dd seems quite settled so have time to catch up! My milk came into day, and where as last night she fed non-stop from 4pm - 2am Shock she has had some nice long feeds about 2-4 hours apart. Nipples still sore though, and boobs feeling all prickly, though still soft, so not engorged, thank goodness! Had that last time with DS was hoping to avoid that this time!
She has had really bad wind but it is getting easier to bring up now.

Joanne - I hope the EPO does the trick!

Petitech - good to hear Max is doing well, sounds like he is settling into a nice routine!

Nurse - oh sympathies to you, that is exactly what I was coincerned about that I would end up doen the intervention route because I was having contractions for so long without going into full labour. There is still time for it to still kick off and I do hope you get your HB. But don't forget that there has been some positive induction stories so don't lose hope Smile Just don't do the pineapple thing... I fear that could only end in a trip to an A&E Grin

Crazy - good to see you are feeling positive, only a few more days before you meet your lo!

Sassamax - great advice about the slings, I have tried mine once, will try again tomorrow, DD seemed to be okay in it.

Jasmine - you can bleed after a sweep (according to MW who did mine) not sure how common, I didn't bleed after either of them. I hope is a sign that labour will start!

Almighty - hoping that you will be cuddling your lo very soon, if not already!

Citizen - Ouch! That sounds like me last week.. hopefully it'll go into labout quicker though!

Confessions - I agree, never bothered with nursing covers. I have several nursing vests and I just wear loose t-shirts as and tops over. I also wear strapless tops with a cardi or shrug over the top as well.

I think there is a going to be another rush of babies anytime now!

sasamaxx · 16/06/2011 21:52

Good stuff Kara
Slings are making life with a newborn so much easier around here Smile

Labella77 · 16/06/2011 21:56

Hello, I have just got back from the hospital, finally!! Had a boy - 9lbs 11oz on the 13th June at 9:46pm by c-section. I'll read everything i've missed in the last 6 days and fill in you a bit more.
So glad to be home.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 16/06/2011 22:01

Congratulations Labella, on the safe arrival of your little boy! Good to hear you are back home, hope you are healing nicely and not too uncomfortable! Look forward to hearing the details!

sasamaxx · 16/06/2011 22:20

Congratulations Labella Smile

milliemuffin · 16/06/2011 23:12

Congrats Labella! xx

Did anyone really start to freak out about their labour just before things got going? I've been quite excited until tonight and I had a nice early night, asleep by 9 but I've woken up and suddenly have zero confidence in having a home birth and am now petrified and starting to remember just how much it hurts :(

Thornykate · 16/06/2011 23:19

Congratulations mn2 & labella! Lovely news Smile

Nurse, that itching sounds awful. Is there anything u can put in the bath to get a bit of respite? If you weren't pg I would suggest seeing a Chinese herbalist but I don't know if they have anything suitable for use in pg? Poor you though Sad pg is uncomfortable enough without that.

Jasmine I bled & it carried on for a couple of days but got lighter, was quite watery most of the time. I read somewhere that if it is enough to soak a pad call the MW but that's only what I gathered from searching threads. Still was quite concerning though at the time hope you're ok

Good luck to those starting off labour, need to post & run now....hoping miss Tiggy doesn't start any antics tonight, she wanted to stay up last night & sleep all day Bless her!

Thornykate · 16/06/2011 23:21

Millie, yes I was getting edgy right up to when they broke my waters but the nerves went once I got started. Just remember it's only 1 contraction at a time & don't think about it as one long labour if that makes sense? It helps me x

takethatlady · 16/06/2011 23:31

Congratulations labella and good luck almighty!!

Shock - really, 90% epidural rate?! I knew they were more intervention-friendly/intervention-mad over there but 90% seems so high. Didn't watch the programme yet as we were catching up on Apprentice from last night.

Lots of BHs here but that's about it. 9 days and half an hour til my due date :)

milliemuffin · 16/06/2011 23:38

Thanks Thorny, I'll try but really feeling worked up at the moment. My belly has been hard for about 10mins but it's not a normal contraction. Baby's got hiccups aswell. My waters went first with both DC so until that happens I'm trying (obviously not hard enough!) to stay calm but I know this one might be different and just creep up on me. Need to chill, sorry! (slaps self round the face).

milliemuffin · 17/06/2011 01:00

Still wide awake :(

Thornykate · 17/06/2011 01:16

Me too but just finishing a feed so hoping Tiggy will sleep.

Someone posted positive affirmations for labour a few threads back Millie, maybe a read of some of those might help? Really feel for you, these things are always worse at night Sad

When I say I was edgy before they broke waters I mean I actually felt i might pass out on the bed i was so stressed about it but it was ok & so will you be x

takethatlady · 17/06/2011 01:44

millie I'm up too. Not worrying about labour (though did have sex earlier which prompted the baby to go nuts for an hour or two, and brought on lots of BHs and sharp pains in my butt, of all places ...). Instead I am 1. avoiding DH's snoring, 2. unable to sleep because my legs are so restless and 3. desperately trying to finish all the amendments to my book (a boring academic book which no-one will read but which must come out before the end of 2012 or I'm dead and unemployed) before the baby is born. Also there is a fourth reason I can't sleep - for some random reason J.Lo's shit son 'I'm Into You' is going round and round my head, which is especially annoying given I only know the chorus.

I'm pretty sure none of that will make you feel better, and agree with thornykate's suggestion that you read some positive things about labour. Have no advice on that score having not been through it before. But you will be fine. All the ladies on this thread have had such different births but they've all come out of it with beautiful LOs and are doing well. You will be no different.

In the meantime, be thankful you are not trying to get some peace flinging your legs about to J.Lo and writing about nineteenth-century Yorkshire ...

takethatlady · 17/06/2011 01:45

shit song. Not 'son', which would be very harsh ...

AlmightyCitrus · 17/06/2011 06:49

Still sat here. Managed about 2 hours sleep. This baby ain't budging. Fingers crossed something happens soon. They won't let me have any more painkillers. I've only had 6 paracetamol since 6pm and nothing since 2.30am.

Joannezipan · 17/06/2011 07:07

Morning everyone, just caught up on yesterday congratulations Larabella!!

I must admit I looked a bfing covers and then decided I would rather use a muslin or blanket as it seems like the baby equivalent of a breadmaker... 10% of people who own them use them all the time, but the other 90% hide them in the back of the cupboard Grin

My body seems to be doing something different. My back has been killing since yesterday morning and I had a couple of odd contractionish things... Not sure if they were contractions though as they were at the bottom of the bump and felt like really squeezy bad period pains. Nothing regular or on the top of the bump though. MW wants to do a sweep on tuesday so I'm kind of hoping things get going before then as that sounds a bit scary!

milliemuffin · 17/06/2011 07:38

Thankyou Thorny and TTL you did make me laugh. I am VERY grateful on both counts, J Lo and C19 Yorkshire?! I feel better already Smile
Honestly though I do feel better, not sure what was going on last night. My DD choked and was violently sick yesterday which had me thinking all kinds about how difficult it'll be with 3 but fortunately I'm feeling a bit more grounded this morning. Yes it's hard but worth it. Xx

curiouselle · 17/06/2011 08:04

Congratulations Labella lovely to hear of another beautiful baby!

I have been lurking without posting for a couple of days - Sorry. DH has taken a couple of days off to be with me, But all I can focus on is that he hasn't hoovered in over 2 weeks regardless of heavy hints just keeps saying sure Ill get to it. Its starting to become a big deal in my head! Angry

I hope all those who have been up through the night have got some sleep and stopped singing J Lo Grin not sleeping is hard, yesterday I was fairly zombie-like after a night of pacing to calm wriggly baby - good practise I suppose!

Baby due in 4 days now and so eager to meet LO! For those who know - does everyone get signs labour is imminant? twinges or feelings, or can it come from no where? apart from more low pains and occassional belly hardening I've had nothing?

takethatlady · 17/06/2011 08:18

Good question curiouselle, I'd like to know too. I am worried I'm getting the burst of energy as I feel great after only three hours of sleep Confused

Glad you feel better millie :) We all have our ups and downs :)

Good luck today almightycitrus! I hope they at least give you more pain relief. Sounds hopeful for you too joanne :)

CMH1stbaby · 17/06/2011 08:23

hi ladies
have completely lost track of the thread as my waters broke on sunday morning, 2am, and then our son was born on sunday evening at 9.20pm, 10 days before his EDD. We have named him Alexander James and he was 7lb15 at birth so a bonny wee boy. We're having a few probs with feeding because he has a tongue tie but getting round it by expressing and feeding with bottles for now. Will return when more organised to catch up but congratulations to those who have popped and good luck to those still waiting!
XXX

jasmine51 · 17/06/2011 08:23

Congrats Labella

Joanne please dont be put off having a sweep by me. I am rather sensitive 'up there' and she wasnt exactly gentle. It hasnt put me off having another one maybe on Monday. Take a pad with you though just in case and be dont arrange anything vigorous that afternoon. By the way I had the same 'dream' about having contractions last night although since I got up in the middle of it and had a glass of water that is still on my table this morning I know it wasnt a dream....excited....

Nurse the cost of the induction thing was an imaginary cost and the aim of the exercise was to take away any influencing factor apart from purely your internal motivations ie would you be doing it for yourself, your baby or possibly someone else? Sorry, I didnt explain that very well

re OBEM USA - I'm still Shock. I'm not going to go into my views here as everyone has choices...but, well, I'll just zip it and let anyone who wants to watch it and make up their own minds.

I just played a little game. I concentrated on the question 'what is a word that sums up today' and then randomly opened a dictionary...do you know which word I saw first..... 'Suspense' ha ha.. how appropriate

jasmine51 · 17/06/2011 08:27

Congrats CMH the boys are catching up!
