Moomin me me me! Just need to get that message to my LO and I would gladly oblige!
Off now for my hosp apt with my new and improved 'bugger off and leave me alone' birth plan. Wow, I'm such a grouch...at this rate when DS pops out the first words he will hear are something like 'about time too, where have you been, typical man keeping a lady waiting....etc etc' I'm really going to have to work on that serene birthing face!

crazychic141187 · 16/06/2011 10:57

Wish me luck! On my way to the midwife for my sweep! Argh

Sarahmumtobe · 16/06/2011 10:58

Congratulations mummynumber2!!!! Happy due date day.

Just a quick message to say my waters broke 3.30am-been trickling since (sorry tmi). Just been into hospital and they confirmed, but absolutely no contractions so playing the waiting game, temp taking every 4 hours and then induction tomorrow if no action! Starting to feel a bit nervous as thought contractions would come first - feels a bit like queuing up for a rollercoaster ride! :-/

Sarahmumtobe · 16/06/2011 10:59

Meant to read happy due date day Joanne, nurse and Jasmine!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 16/06/2011 11:05

Sorry Millie that was a slip of my sausage fingers. Should have read 'the absolute joy and delight' GrinWink

moomin I'd be a willing volunteer, but not sure about Currant Bun. It seems quite happy being a wee tease.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 16/06/2011 11:08

Oh and best of luck to AC Crazychic and Sarahmumtobe!

moomin156 · 16/06/2011 11:20

OOh it could be an exciting day.......Grin Good luck everyone

crazychic141187 · 16/06/2011 12:21

Well I'm back from the midwife and cervix is still completely closed so I'm booked in for an induction on monday at 10 SadSadSadSad

Merlion · 16/06/2011 12:38

Congrats MN2 lovely news and hope you are now recovering a little.

Crazy sorry to hear of induction date - still you never know there's still time over the weekend.

Good luck to AC and Sarah!

sasamaxx · 16/06/2011 13:06

Happy due date Jasmine, Nurse and Joannezipan

Congratulations mummyno2 we were all wondering where you had got to. Hope you're ok

Good luck for the roller coaster ride sarahmumtobe

There is no such thing as a serene birhing face Jasmine - in fact I'd imagine that my birthing face is more demonic grimace than anything else Wink

Joannezipan · 16/06/2011 13:26

Well Jasmine oil application number 2 has taken place...Although I think this is the one day that it is guaranteed Jasmine, Nurse and I will not have any babies! It does smell very nice though.

Backache is ramping up today, but the ball is helping, and I think that has more to do with a fundal height measurement of 42cm(!Shock) than impending birth. I think the baby knows i'm getting Angry with it...it isn't doing so many big movements today, just small "i'm not here honest" wiggles.

There is a guy outside my house cutting the hedge over the road...he has been at it since midday...it is not a big hedge and his clippers are very loud.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 16/06/2011 13:31

Very quick congrats to Mummynumber2 on her little boy as dd has woke up again! Will catch up later.

PerpetualProvocateur · 16/06/2011 14:09

Congratulations MN2!

Good luck Sarah, Almighty, and anyone else waiting for things to properly get going.

Sending labour vibes to those in overdue limbo...my due date is tomorrow and nothing much is happening so I will probably be with you soon.

petitech · 16/06/2011 15:43

Hello all, apologies for absence, had mad first time mum week with Max and just about emerging from zombieland. He slept in blocks if 4 and 2 hrs last night woohoo. We made it to ikea today, quick visit, and have bought all necess fathers day presents, max had a bath and were all feelg chipper.
Congrats to all new baby arrivals, funny how much of a bond you can make online, especially feel delighted for you barbie after such a long wait.
Quick question, maybe for sasa or others, i'm bfdg and was gonna buy a bebe au lait bfdg cover thing but then I wondered if a sling would be more versatile or useful? Thanks ladies x

NurseSunshine · 16/06/2011 16:30

We've missed you MN2 Congratulations :)

You OK Crazychic?

Happy due date Jasmine and Joanne. At least, I say happy... :(

So my blood results came back fine so not OC which is good :) I had my MW app today and she said basically my options are to wait it out, or to book an appointment with the consultant to discuss induction. So basically it's like an endurance test for me. I didn't sleep more than an hour at a time last night, have scratched myself raw and bleeding :( I can't concentrate, I'm going out of my mind.

But induction is... induction and it would mean going into hospital, probable epidural, lots of intervention etc etc etc
But then it would all be over. I don't know what I should do.
So, I've just said I'm going to wait it out as long as I can and see what happens.

Sorry for yet another self obsessed post, I can't think about anything else right now :(

Good luck Sarah - I think we are due date buddies... hope things get moving for you soon!

Good news re. bloods Nurse, but that itching s- ounds absolutely horrible. are you putting any lotions on it to ease it? I know how you feel re. induction but you will know when the time is right for you and you've really had enough and don't want to wait any more. Hope you start to feel better.

NurseSunshine · 16/06/2011 16:49

Moog I have tried every cream you could name! Plus the midwife told me I could take piriton so have tried that but nothing doing. Literally nothing helps.

OP posts:
crazychic141187 · 16/06/2011 16:56

nurse I'm fine just realising that I won't be getting the birth that I want and it's a bit annoying! Plus I really didn't want any intervention and the obvious need for induction is the most intervention possible! Also really didn't want an epidural and it looks like that will happen so a bit bummed out by it all!

But on the plus side I am going to have my baby in a few days so thats something to look forward to in the haze of what is to happen!

I was thinking of you this morning thinking I hadnt seen a post for a while! Im glad the bloods came back good for you! Maybe wait till I've had my induction and I'll let you know how it goes at jessops lol!

NurseSunshine · 16/06/2011 17:01

At the end of the day I guess what needs to happen is happening and you'll have your baby and that's all that matters. It's a total bummer when things don't go to plan I think this is one of those "eyes on the prize" things :)

Good to hear you're getting on better Petitech
Re breastfeeding covers - to e, they seem like a terrible waste of money, but then I always have a sling with me so I just wouldn't have the use for one. £27-£30 is a lot of money which could go towards a nice sling instead. I find wraps really versatile and useful as a sling/blanket/breastfeeding cover AND they have good resale value - I doubt that a bfing cover would sell on as well.
Something to note though, is that stretchy wraps aren't as wide and blankety as woven wraps so although they could still be used to drape over you both, they wouldn't be quite as good.

I had Celeste asleep in the sling a while ago, then she woke up for a feed so I loosened her off and slid her to the side - she had a feed and fell asleep again and I just left the sling there as a blanket. I've just had DH take a photo which I'll upload to my profile to explain it a bit better. As you'll see from the photo, it would be v easy to just lift the side of the sling to cover both of us.
So - a sling would def do the job, but you would have to actually use it as a sling as well or it would just be a v expensive blanket Wink

OMG what a ramble Shock

jasmine51 · 16/06/2011 17:59

Good vibes to you AC Crazy and Sarah
Nurse re induction - someone said something interesting to me yesterday about inductions....if having an induction would cost you £5000 but money was no object, would you chose to have one? Answering that question made me think in a different way about who I was doing it for and my motivations. Not sure if that makes sense or helps at all?

So Ive had a tedious rivetting day at the hosp shuffling between departments and peeing in more pots than I thought was really necessary. All heart traces and kick counts were fine although I did send the monitor off the scale when I sneezed. Nothing bad in wee, all bps were good and 'fanny rummage' indicated LO was well down, cervix was soft and opening. All moving along nicely you might think but STILL the consultant said she wanted to do an induction asap! I did fight my corner but she was really pressuring me. Instead I had a sweep which was so painful I was rather hoping she would emerge with a baby in her hand Smile. Doesnt bode well for my pain tolerance for labour does it?

Question - I am bleeding after my sweep - not alot, bright red blood, its slowing now and about a 5cm stain on pad - that normal? I bleed after smears too so I wasnt worried but I thought I'd check with you lot.

AlmightyCitrus · 16/06/2011 18:31

I think things are finally starting to get going. Although it seems to be a bit stop/start, but the pains are quite intense when I get them.

NurseSunshine · 16/06/2011 19:08

Good luck Almighty!!

Jasmine Obviously I have no idea from experience but I'm sure I've read that some bleeding is common after a sweep? Am sure someone who knows what they're talking about will come along in a mo :) Hope it does the trick though. Was sorely tempted to buy a pineapple yesterday, I might volunteer to be our guniea pig... Shock
RE induction, wow had no idea they cost that much. So basically, it would be incredibly selfish to have an induction unless medically necessary/was way overdue :( Feel like a bit of a twat.

CitizenOscar · 16/06/2011 19:34

Ouch! Been contracting on & off since 3am but only irregularly this afternoon. When I'm not contracting or dozing, just have pretty much constant pain. That's normal, right? Have retired to the bath, which is blissful.

Sorry I haven't been able to catch up with the rest of your posts... Really hoping it doesn't go on like this for days! Lying down is excruciating so don't know what I'll do tonight... Any ideas?

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 16/06/2011 20:14

I keep seeing talk of bfing covers. I tried to use a muslin as a cover with DS once, hated it and never bothered again. I found I never felt exposed (got very agile in the clothes arranging dept very fast) and never had a problem feeding without a cover. Each to their own though.

Citizen can you stay in the bath all night? No maybe not, you might have trouble explaining to the MWs why you've turned into a white prune! Not sure what to suggest in all honesty, so sending hurry up and arrive thoughts to baby citizen so that you don't have to deal with a painful night trying to sleep.
