PerpetualProvocateur · 10/06/2011 13:10

Grrr...just lost a massive post. Will try to re-cap.

Back from the MW and my BP is okay; still high for me, but within the safe BP range. One week out from due date and baby is 2/5 palpable, so he is moving down but I will be trying to walk and such to encourage him further down. Unfortunately, he's also still back-to-back, so I'll be spending more time on the birth ball, leaning forwards, on all fours, and the latest advice - walking sideways up the stairs.

Yes, please to whoever's offering cake. Moomin, I tried the chocolate banana muffins recipe and they were delish. Think I'll make some blueberry muffines for the morning - classic but always good!

Sorry to those still in overdue limbo...I hope for your sakes that this weekend is a busy weekend for baby arrivals on this thread!

Jasmine, how did your talk about induction go?

Crumbletastic, you are my due date buddy! I hope we're both in for early arrivals, but I suspect I'll be at least a few days overdue.

Grin and Shock at thorny already being broody. At this stage in pregnancy, I'm already questioning our plan of trying to space our children out by about 18 months, as I'm not sure I can face being pregnant again in nine short months!

8RD, careful with the massive to-do lists. I spent the first few weeks of ML (mostly) getting through mine, and have just started to take it easy this week, which I think has really helped me get in the right state of mind for the birth. That being said, you will probably feel much better and more in control once you have finished revising your birth plan, so that is definitely worth prioritising.

Joanne, glad you're feeling better. Hope your DH recovers soon so he can get back to pampering you!

Congrats on your exam results Barbie!

Birth plan still not done, but 3 coffee cupcakes eaten, and have faffed cleaned in the kitchen. Right, I need to get down to it....

Oh thank you so much for those lovely kind messages.

So my waters broke about an hour ago Shock funnily enough, some came in one big gush (all over the floor) and now absolutely nothing - is that not really strange/ has anyone experienced this? With ds it kept coming and coming and I was changing maternity pads constantly (I definitely didn't wee myself btw, it was clear, slimy and sweet smelling) hmm....

8rubberduckies · 10/06/2011 14:21

HURRRRRRRAY Barbie! The only way forward is imminent labour! Your baby was waiting for your exam results! Grin

Barbie - yippee for exam results (I told you that you had probably done better than you thought! and squeeee waters have broken! Can't be long now, have you rung the hospital?

Hello to everyone else have just skimmed through, cx coming through stronger and more regular and more painful. I think we may call MWs soon....

8rubberduckies · 10/06/2011 14:35

Good luck Kara Smile

CitizenOscar · 10/06/2011 14:39

Congrats barbie - a real achievement! And good luck now your waters have broken too...

milliemuffin · 10/06/2011 15:14

Ooh Barbie! Double Congrats!! Keep us posted!

For the last hour I've been feeling very 'wet' inside but nothing is appearing outside?! I rushed back from the shops thinking my waters had started to go but my knickers are dry! Still feels like there's something there, bit weird.

So glad it's the weekend nearly. I really am struggling now looking after the DC.

Hope everyone's ok and best of luck to those who may be having babies in the next day or so... xx

milliemuffin · 10/06/2011 15:16

Glad things are getting stronger Kara, look forward to hearing your news soon! Smile

curiouselle · 10/06/2011 15:59

8 thank you for the recipe link - I will try it out next week :)

Kara and Barbie woooooooo keep us posted, am really excited for you both!

My news of the day is that I have had my hair cut and no longer look like an untamed mammoth! :)

Thornykate · 10/06/2011 16:20

Go kara & barbie... Bets on who will finish first? Grin seriously though the best wishes to you both can't wait for an update x

Moog72 · 10/06/2011 16:37

Looks like it's happening now Barbie and Kara - hoping all goes as well as possible and you have your babies soon!

Well it is DD's birthday today so I have a houseful of children at the moment but they are all playing upstairs and being very good... then DD goes off to her dad's for the weekend and I am hoping I will go into labour! probably won't though, not due til Tuesday.

Am knackered - can't sleep at all at the moment. Not sure why even - just pg insomnia...

Had a big overemational reaction last night when DH went to the pub (again) after work. Am worried he is going to be drunk when I go into labour! I think he has got the message now that he needs to stop doing that for hte next couple of weeks or so.... I think I have scared him with my stroppiness...

NurseSunshine · 10/06/2011 16:41

Excellent news on the exams Barbie! Wow a law degree! That's pretty impressive. Now, I feel as though there's something else I should congratulate you on... OMG YOUR WATERS HAVE BROKEN!!!!! SO exciting and about blimmin time! I was going to say perhaps they were the fore waters as well supersunny, my friend described hers going like that and then the hind waters broke during the actual labour. Really hope things kick off properly for you now and you are cuddling your little baby in a few hours :) (baby is clearly pleased it has a very clever mummy to look after it!)

Kara, really hope this is it for you as well, fingers crossed. If it is The Real Thing I hope you have a lovely, calm homebirth as well :)

Sorry your not quite on your way Labelle, am sure it won't be too much longer.

So, just need a moan here, feel free to skip over as it really pales into insignificance compared to other people's problems but it seems huge to me right now. I went to the doc today as I've got really itchy skin on my belly and a rash, and the doc said it was normal and prescribed mouisturiser. But I'd already been mouisturising a zillion times a day anyway. And it's not getting better and it's driving me mad. I wake up in the middle of the night having scratched in my sleep and made it really sore.
Have looked it up and reckon it's this PUPPP0 thing. As all the symptoms are the same, my belly looks like the ones in the pics, my first pregnancy, the bumps started in my stretch marks etc, basically matches the description exactly.
So I called back and mentioned antihistamines or steroid cream and spoke to this snotty nurse who said they're not safe for pergnancy (obviously not all are but there are some you can prescribe) and to just keep moisturising. FFS. So I think she's probably just never heard of it and thinks am being over dramatic and/or stupid. I'm going to have to wait the entire weekend until monday and then get another doctor appointment if it's not better. And getting an appointment same week is practically impossible, never mind same day. I know it sounds like nothing but on top of feeling uncomfortable constantly and fed up etc I am also unbelievably itchy and sore. Want to cry :(

OK moan over. Think am entering the "FGS just get this baby out of me" phase where I may become slightly irrational and overly emotional. (I've just got images of Lisascat throwing lettuces at her DH. I'm so with you sister!)

PS was it Thorny who was offering a free 11 year old who makes coffee? Send her round my way, I can handle the strops and whatnot (will give her a run for her money Grin ), as long as she makes a good cuppa joe.

OP posts:
moomin156 · 10/06/2011 16:57

oh nurse you poor thing.......there is nothing worse than being itchy, have you tried calomine (think you van use in pg) instead of moisturiser, and definitely go back to gp as there ARE antihistamines you can have when pg. I was really itchy early on in pg and was told they would prescribe me some if it hadnt gone in a few days but thankfully it did........
maybe put the babies scratch mittens on at night LOL Grin
Brew and cake coming your way

NurseSunshine · 10/06/2011 17:06

Thanks Moomin. Was debating just buying some hydrocortisone cream OTC but am sufficiently scared about using corticosteroids in pg without medical advice to hold back just in case. Haven't got any calamine, will pick some up tomorrow maybe. Can you just get it in the chemist?

Labella not another scared cervix!
Barbie yay for the exam results, yayer for waters breaking
Kara hang on in there
Millie hope your phantom wet knickers are a premonition!
Nurse boo for the itchy bump

Ive discovered a posh version of the energy surge and frantic cooker cleaning. 3 times today Ive seen a van for a company that does professional cooker and oven cleaning...seems in this area they might not only be too posh to push but also too posh to nest Grin

So the result of the induction fiasco. I'm sorry if it annoys those of you desperately trying to get an induction but if you fancy a trip down to Oxfordshire there is now a free appointment on Sunday at 4pm. Its taken some doing but after a day of phone calls and battling barbed wire to get through to the right extensions I finally got to speak to my consultant directly about an hour ago. I read out my rehearsed speech and as expected got a response full of fairly scary risk factors. Anyway we reached a compromise to swap my induction for a MW checkup on Tuesday then a morning in the DAU on Thursday with daily monitoring thereafter. I'm alot happier with this although I feel a bit scared at having taken responsibility if things go wrong now.

Apart from that, today I have been having a very crampy day. Dont supose it is in any way significant but would be delighted if it was. Oh and my boobs are swollen.

I will now return to lurking til the next bubba decides to pop out...pulls up chair

Joannezipan · 10/06/2011 17:44

Well done Barbie! What an achivement! And now it's baby time - looks like your LO will have good timing!

PP Maybe you should clean the skirtingboards? Wink

DH is feeling guilty about not pampering me, I ran him a bath last night to try and soak away the aches...he sat in there for nearly an hour telling me how guilty he felt because I wasn't in the bath and he was! Confused

Kara Hopefully this is it!

curiouselle Glad your mammoth look has gone - wouldn't want to scare the baby when it comes! I'm feeling the same after a fringe trim.

NurseSunshine HC45 cream is the way forward, over the counter from the chemist. If they look at you funny, lie and say it is for someone else! I mean really how much is going to get in through your skin and in the last weeks of pg there is no fatal development, only growth so the risk is practically ziltch! Argh this makes me cross - don't make the decision for us let us assess the risk for our selves! For the record I have been using it for my eczema for the last couple of weeks /end rant!

Jasmine Well done, and responsibility is all part of being a mama! :o My boobs are huge as well...so big DH commented on their size this morning!

We had a very good lunch - smoked salmon, sausage and mash followed by raspberry and white chocolate tort for me, rabbit and duck pate, duck breast with redcurrant sauce and summer fruit pudding for DH ...yummy, I want to go back!

PrisonerZero · 10/06/2011 17:44

Congratulations on your results Barbie! And am so pleased that your waters have broken, I hope that things get started for you now.

Kara - hopefully this is it for you too!

Moog - My DP goes to the pub every blimmin night after work, his bright idea is that we get a taxi to the hospital if he has had a couple and can't drive although I have told him hes not allowed to come with me if he is drunk. To be fair, he has only been having a few and coming back undrunk this week, although I think if he was out with his friends or family it would be a different story but they are all away until the middle of next week so he has been on his own. Its more annoying for me that he keeps phoning or texting to check up on me, I just want to watch the tv in peace, I keep telling him I will ring him if I need him to come home. He is only round the corner.

Jasmine, glad your discussion went well, well done on actually getting to speak to a consultant!

NurseSunshine, that nurse was an arse. Hoping that you can get something for your itching soon, its awful when you feel like you want to rip your own skin off.

I had my doctors appointment this morning and again took all my written notes, she was nice actually which I wasn't expecting and said my consultant should make the time to at least speak to me, she said she would email her a letter of support for me as she had heard from lots of women that they were unhappy with their late inductions, and also gave me a phone number to ring to speak to the consultant myself. I rung and was told by the secretary that Miss C doesn't take phone calls from patients - fair enough I suppose, she must be very busy. So I asked to leave a message so she could ring me back, but Miss C doesn't return phone calls either! SO how do I get to speak to her? I asked the secretary to please print off the email and add it to my file so that everything was in place for when I go for my appointment with the mystery Miss C on Wednesday. Secretary was very nice and told me not to take it personally that the consultant wouldn't speak to me, its just the way she is.

I think I have had a bit of a show today! I was in the toilet at Costa (not drinking coffee just needed a wee lol) and there was a clear firmish jelly blob in my knickers! It was about as big as my finger nail. I was very excited as I haven't had one before with my other DC so came home and googled images of mucus plugs and shows (yuk) but I think it must only be part of the plug as everything i've read suggests it should be bigger - suppose I should have sex again tonight then, I really can't be bothered.

Jasmine, my boobs seem a bit bigger and slightly more tender today too.

I had an irrational panic today about mugs. Yes, mugs Blush as when DPs mother was here last week I made her a cup of coffee and she complained that the mug had a chip in it and asked for a new mug. I couldn't find one good enough for her Shock so I bought some new ones today so that when people come round to see the baby they at least have a decent mug to drink out of.

Joannezipan · 10/06/2011 18:10

on a different note, how do I always get so many crumbs in my bra - this didn't used to happen!

NurseSunshine · 10/06/2011 18:11

Glad you stood up for yourself and got your compromise Jasmine :)

Joanne Yes I think I will if I'm the same on monday and get nowhere with the docs again. Your lunch sounds super yummy.

Prisoner Yay for a show! Totally ridiculous that the consultant doesn't take phone calls OR return calls. Sounds like a bit of a god complex there. Hopefully you can get through to her on wednesday.
I would tell DP's mum to bring her own mug if mine weren't good enough Grin

NurseSunshine · 10/06/2011 18:12

It's me with the stroppy 11 year old nurse. Give me your address and I'll pop her in the post....Hope you don't have any glass doors though! Grin
Hope you get over the itchyness soon. I've got a lumpy scabby arm where I keep scratching although I think it is more general heat lumps than anything pregnancy related.

Fingers crossed for Barbie and Kara

Hopefully the end of the bag saga (sighs of relief all round). Wink Friend came round last night to collect a parcel and DH told her she had to replace the bag and asked for the cash. Miraculously today she decided she could fix it, and spent the entire afternoon texting and ringing me, even though I was trying to have a doze on the sofa. I told her I wasn't up to calls or visitors and tried to explain the problem I have with the excess amniotic fluid, so she came and shoved my bag through the letterbox. The zip is buggered. She's wired it together at each end so it won't open fully. Then she kept texting me saying how she was feeling and how hurt she was because I was annoyed about it. Shock She's one of those that keeps on sending text after text. I think she's given up now, although if I get any more I'll probably have to change my number.
The End....I hope!
