OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
petitech · 06/06/2011 08:37

Morning all, woke up early this morning as DH's alarm went off and I thought I might as well get up.
Contemplating going to aqua natal at 10 but it seems like a lot of effort :s
CONGRATS SASA sooooo pleased for you, you must be exhausted after the last week or so's false alarms. Can't wait to hear an update, name etc, well done!
So who is officially overdue now, I tried to refer back to the stats thread but always lose it...
This is who I think is overdue but sorry if I missed anyone else?

Barbie
Kara
Knackered
Thorny
Petitech EDD 03/06/11 - 40+2/3? (do you count the actual day?!

Today I think I might:
Put some whites washing on (oooh)
Do a little bit of light tidying (aaaah)
Go and buy a nice dark towel from TK Maxx/Dunelm Mill - I have a dark towel in my hospital bag but I want a nice big fluffy one not an old sandpaper one :) and so what if it'll get ruined, I figure the small luxury of a cosy towel will be nice
Buy another feliway plug in to chill out the kittycats
Pull some weeds out from in front of our house
Read some more of my book

OK opinion time I am arranging a picnic thing for my bday on 1st Aug, so worst case if baby arrives induced will be about 6 weeks old by then, people keep saying to me 'are you sure that's wise, do you think it's a bit ambitious'?!? Surely by 6-8 weeks it's not unreasonable to think I can push the pram 15 mins to the local park, with a rug and some picnic bits and for other people to meet us there? Perhaps I am in for a big shock but I hoping that this isn't such a big undertaking as ppl are making out?!

NurseSunshine · 06/06/2011 08:39

Massive congratulations to sasa and family! Bet you're relieved to finally have your little girl here after all that stopping and starting. I dreamt that you'd given birth last night btw!

So glad Oscar is out of SCBU Louey, hope you get to bring him home really soon :)

Come on Kara!! FX things are really kicking off for you today as well Grin

I'm off to a homebirth group this morning :)

OP posts:
NurseSunshine · 06/06/2011 08:42

x posts petitech, I am SURE that at 6-8 weeks you will be able to push a pram to the park and sit about on a blanket eating cucumber sandwiches!

knackered your post really made me laugh, liking all the perks you've listed as being offered for bring part of the club, that said, I hope it's exclusive snd that membership is closed so none of the rest of you can join as it's horrible. petitech thanks for the list, I was worrying I'd forget people (which I did), fingers crossed we'll be kicking kara out today. I don't count the actual due date as being a plus 1 btw.

On the picnic, course you will!! We're planning on having christening around that date (which will be a big event to organise). Go for it!!!

knackered76 · 06/06/2011 08:56

Petitech 6-8wks should be fine. Plus you also just get everyone else to help so you end up not doing that much Grin

Nurse Enjoy your group!

Right, I really must go and do something that involves getting the children dressed and fed . . . .. I'm oh soooooooo lazy today Blush

jasmine51 · 06/06/2011 09:05

DH now has the squits. Hes just come downstairs and announced he's having his pre-labour clear out and that he can feel some cervix twinges too. Do you think he's going to have all my labour pains by proxy? Would be a good result dont you think?

AlmightyCitrus · 06/06/2011 09:09

Hurrah! Congratulations Sasa! Grin

Kara PUUUUUSSSHHHH!!

Louey Glad Oscar is out of SCBU. He'll be home before you know it!

Nothing wrong with the picnic idea petitech. Sounds like a nice relaxing birthday to me...although I'd ignore NurseSunshie's suggestion of cucumber sandwiches.....Cucumber is evil and is now proven to make you die! Grin

MainlyMaynie · 06/06/2011 09:13

Congratulations sara, looking forward to hearing the birth story!

Hope things do get going for you today Kara. You're having a homebirth aren't you? Are you having a pool? Mine arrived yesterday and is all set up ready to go! Today's the first day I'm officially 'allowed' to give birth at home.

TTL I sympathise, seeing everyone watching for signs and thinking I could potentially have another 5 weeks to go doesn't make for a lot of patience! And even though the baby is deeply engaged, apparently this means nothing and I could still go overdue.

Thorny, hope your induction goes well and you have your baby today!

petitech, a picnic at 6 weeks doesn't sound too ambitious to me, but this is my first so I really have no clue!

Nursesunshine, another home birth! Are you having a pool?

I'm going to a breastfeeding course this afternoon, hopefully that will be fun.

motherofsnortpigs · 06/06/2011 09:32

well done sasa All rather speedy in the end after the week of grumbling uterus :) Keep us posted kara I've trapped a nerve in my bum and know it will only feel better once the baby is out. Got the mw coming any time now for another sweep, a pelvic release and more acupressure. thorny I hope all goes smoothly. jasmine I'd take the birth pains if DH promises to change the first pooey nappy. And maybe you could get the Disney animals to weed the garden...

Moog72 · 06/06/2011 09:48

Sasa - congratulations ? so happy for you! Have you decided on a name? Hope all went well in the end?

We seem to have so many more girls on this thread than boys so far. Do you think boys generally get too cosy in there and don?t want to come out?!

Must pack hospital bag today ? still on my to do list... am convinced I will be late so haven?t bothered yet...

And good news from our household, after months of deliberating we have finally decided on names ? woohoo. I was beginning to think DH and I would never agree on a boys name...

Good luck Thorny! And hope all those overdue see sopme progress soon I am 38+6 today and looking forward to a week off work where DD is at school so I can be very lazy!

Nurse did you decide to get a pool for your homebirth? Has it arrived / have you set it up?

PrisonerZero · 06/06/2011 09:53

Congratulations Sasa!!

Good luck to Kara and Thorny!!

This thread is so exciting lately, can't believe it will be my turn soon. 9 months seems to have flown by although the last few days have dragged. I am 39+4 now and seem to have it firmly lodged in my head that I will be overdue and induced again as I was with my other DCs.

I am going out for a meal with DPs family tonight, will have to have an afternoon nap so that I am able to stay awake and not drift off into my dinner. DP has emailed me and reminded me to sort out what I am going to wear... hmm black leggings or jeans. Its all I have, am slightly annoyed now as I don't have anything nice at all to wear and don't need reminding about it

Am also grumpy at people dp thinking he can tell me what I should and shouldn't be eating... "Should you really be eating chocolate??" etc. I think I should be eating whatever the hell I please. Yes, I know I will need to lose weight afterwards (got a slinky bridesmaids dress to fit into) but bugger off, I am uncomfortable and fat and chocolate helps. He has something against chocolate imo - if I have a headache/backache/upset stomach/cold/ramdom anything its always "well I think its the chocolate thats caused it". Arrgghhhhh

Really got to get tidied up and organised today, I have no excuses left!

jasmine51 · 06/06/2011 10:11

Naive question of the day because we havent had any boob talk recently...when do you know if your boobs are going to respond and produce what they need to produce at the right time? Some of you were talking about leaky boobs a while ago...when does this happen? If boobage is currently completely dry and soft and no sign of anything there, does colostrum suddenly appear during labour ready for some immediate suckling or should there be signs in the build up to labour?

takethatlady · 06/06/2011 10:11

petitech we're planning on a party/christening in August so friends/non-immediate relatives can all meet the baby in one go and not hound us all summer. I hope your picnic idea is not too ambitious!

mainlymaynie we will be loitering about this thread alone in five weeks time, I can tell Grin

Just trying to order a new moses basket mattress online. The tape measure says that the mattress we have is 69 x 33.5 cm. There is no such size, I don't think Confused

takethatlady · 06/06/2011 10:12

jasmine I've had nothing close to leakage of any kind ... just the odd bit of crustiness Blush

takethatlady · 06/06/2011 10:31

With the cover on it's 70 x 33 cm. Do you think John Lewis' 70 x 29 would be okay? It's a very old moses basket (24 years!). I would just buy a new basket but my step-mum has put all new covers and fabrics on it and made it all nice for us, and it was lovely of her and I don't want to offend her ... so if I can just get a new mattress I'd be happier ...

takethatlady · 06/06/2011 10:34

Sorry, I'm taking over an exciting thread with much more important stuff going on with boring mattress size chat ... but Mothercare have 75 x 35 - maybe I should go for that and cut it down?

Thornykate · 06/06/2011 10:41

Am typing one handed on phone so pls excuse errors.

I called hosp this morning & was told to come in. When I got here they said I may hVe to come back tomoro as they now had space for me tomorrow (I am actually a day early as this was the only slot they had left). I explained thT I can't as I have used up all my childcare today but DP will be able to leave work when I am in active labour. I told them if they can't do today I will have 2 come back on Friday when DP already home.

Eventually they decided to keep me in & hooked me up to monitor for 20 mins b4 I have the gel.

5 minutes onto monitor my on & off contractions decide to start agIn. Apparently they are too strong (even though I've hD them for wks & they won't dilate my cervix grr) for me to have gel in case it makesbaby distresed.

Im stAying on ctg to see if they'll stop & if not I will be examined anyway to see if I have dilated & they may do ARM.

Beginning to wonder what I've started now...

Thornykate · 06/06/2011 10:42

Just read back & congratulations Sasa!!' so pleased for you well done! X

neenewps · 06/06/2011 10:46

jasmine I have literally just started to have a wee bit of leakage but that is only when I squeeze my nipple. Boobs don't really feel any different though.

ttl I also had a moses basket/crib given to me which was over 40 years old so is much bigger than the ones they sell now. I bought a new mattress from here They were really great and custom made the mattress for me. Am really pleased with the mattress.

neenewps · 06/06/2011 10:51

Meant to also post and say that my scan last week all went ok. I was 37+1 when I had the scan and apparently the baby is measuring at 39 weeks! So the reason I had the scan was due to my fundal height measurement being too small!! The baby was obviously hiding somewhere :o

Also my blood pressure has stabilised again and they are all ok for me to have my MW led delivery... yipppppeeee!!!

louey meant to also post that I I'm glad Oscar is out of SCBU. Fingers x'd you are on your way home soon.

neenewps · 06/06/2011 10:53

thorny just saw your post. Hope it all goes ok for you today.

LisasCat · 06/06/2011 11:12

I skimmed the last bit of kara's post and thought she said she was going to use the tens machine IN the bath, not after. Note to all - this is a bad idea, do not use a tens machine in the bath!

Prisoner tell everyone to bog off, you can eat what you like. DP looks at me when I have a glass of wine, then looks at the size of the glass, then looks back at me, expecting me to feel guilty. Ha, he should be so lucky. Clearly doesn't know the mother of his children very well.

8rubberduckies · 06/06/2011 11:22

8rubberduckies · 06/06/2011 11:24

How embarrasing! Just posted the "notes" I have to make whilst reading through the thread before composing a lengthy post Blush Blush Blush. I have just been outed as someone with no memory! Oh well, will be back in a while with the more padded out version!
