Anu I don't think they weigh you unless you had a high BMI at the start. I've only ever been weighed at booking in appt. Your weight gain sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

MrsStevo · 25/05/2011 13:16

Thanks for all the weight compliments! Now of course I'm worried I haven't put on enough ....... Confused !!!

MorningsM - we've gone with the Baby Jogger City Select as it seemed to tick all the boxes for us. We have a narrow front door and hallway so had to get a long one rather than side by side iyswim. As for changing bag, we kind of panic-bought one at the Baby Show on sunday!! The first one we saw was amazing and loved it but thought we'd mosey on round and see if we found a better one. Of course we didn't and by the time we got back they'd sold out :( So we got a 'Ryco Expresso' one instead that was something like £43 RRP and we got it for £21 so bit of a bargain. Certainly seems to do everything I need it to, but then I don't really know what I need it to do yet!!

Klou - Damn you and your delicious sounding cake recipe!!!! I don't need ANY encouragement on that front!! I still have 1/2 a cake left to eat so I won't be making another any time soon (well, before Friday at least!) but I will certainly bear it in mind. Hope you enjoy it!

anu - where did you get your big tree sticker from? I've searched around quite a bit and couldn't find one that fit the bill. There seem to be lots of twee ones with owls and stuff in them but nothing that would look remotely safari-esque.

Off to hosp for second lot of steroid jabs (in my butt I hasten to add ... :( !!!)

MrsStevo · 25/05/2011 13:21

Actually i've just calculated the weight gain ... that seems plenty.

And Mornings - its Espresso not Expresso. Sorry!

SelinaDoula · 25/05/2011 13:56

I seem to have put on about 26lb at nearly 31 weeks.
Have been Amazon-ing today and ended up buying two lambskins (one for the buggy, one for bed/play) and what I really wanted was a pair of maternity leggings to see me through the next few weeks!
Excited I'm going to find out babies sex later!

KTisPG · 25/05/2011 14:22

I really wouldn't worry about your weight one way or the other - I've never been weighed by the MW in any of my 3 pg and I take the attitude of I don't want to know until after the birth when I can do something about it (AKA burying head in sand Grin). Although I was thinking that as this is my last one maybe I should get DH to weigh me at the very end just for curiosity's sake, but write it down and seal it in an envelope so I can't get depressed about it.

Anu3 · 25/05/2011 14:55

*Mrss this is the tree i got - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VHMW96/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller= - i figured if i get this plain one then putting the other stickers in will make it look safari - esque!

littlemissoza thanks for that! wanted to confirm its not just me then whose weight is not being measured!

MrsStevo · 25/05/2011 15:05

Ooooooooooooooohhhh Anu I love it! Good find!! Will have to decide which wall that will go on though before I cough up the cash for it. How long have you been waiting for it? Perhaps I should crack on and order it now ....

Anu3 · 25/05/2011 15:12

Grin It is beautiful isisnt it! I ordered it last week so should arrive any time now. It took me a while to find it and then i had it sitting in my amazon shopping basket for a couple of weeks until the rooms were painted so i could be sure i wanted it.

Firawla · 25/05/2011 16:17

kt me too @ burying head in sand attitutde to weight gain in pregnancy. ive never been weighed other than @ booking in either, i think i tend to put on a lot though..
anu that tree is lovely
star sorry you had a bad day going for the diabetes clinic, have u been put on metformin or not yet? i have been put on it but rather than going down my blood sugar seems to b slightly higher since im taking it :S so if it stays high all week ill probably have to call them and discuss it i guess?
i feel it could be affected by stress and lack of sleep? as i heard it can be a factor..

but viewing another place tomorrow so if only we manage to get it then my stress levels would drastically reduce, and could celebrate by getting some stuff for babys room myself, i want to get wall stickers too but dno what ones. my ds1 had stars planets kinda theme in his room and ds2 had boats and lighthouses

Annie456 · 25/05/2011 16:27

Oh my gosh Anu you have started something now!!! I hadn't even thought of the stickers and my amazon basket is looking pretty heavy! I think I might have to wait and see what team i'm on before ordering though...as much as I want to have the nursery ready, the baby will be in our room for a good few weeks so will have to decorate once s/he is born.

However for my our bedroom.... Wink

MrsBB1982 · 25/05/2011 16:50

I've only gained 13lbs so far (29+3). I wasn't worried until a friend (not had kids and very figure concious) was trying to be nice in her way and told me 'wow you look like you've actually lost weight except for the bump - that's great isn't it?!'
In my current state of being emotional and overreacting to everything I told my DH and then MW who weighed me at my 28 week appointment but told me not to worry. Told me the weight gain quoted in books is an average not a goal!
Bumpy has been transverse for a few days I think, which has been making walking to work difficult. I think he's turned today as I feel a lot less heavy and awkward so might try the walk to work again tomorrow

MrsVidic · 25/05/2011 16:56

Oh I'll weigh myself tomorrow and it will prob be a 2 stone weight gain so far. I'm not too bothered though as I'm still measuring I week under and it's evidence to all my over protective family that I am eating enough and I'm not going to be I'll again!

As for baby stock. My friend leant me her baby gym today so I've quite a bit of baby stuff about now. Think I've decided on a double nipper 360 pram which means I'll have to get rid of my single nipper. It means I can still run with the pram and it's like a 4x4 so great in countryside/ snow. I'm going to hAve to wait until I find out if I have been successful on the olympic ticket front first though!

For those second + timers when r u planning to take clothes out of storage to sort etc? Just wondering how long I can put things off for Grin

Also would anyone like to hear about our previous labour/ birth experiences? Or not, I completely understand if you don't but if you do I'm happy to share

Firawla · 25/05/2011 17:07

mrs vidic if you have your babys room set up or like chest of drawers etc ready then i would probs just take them out now? i think i got my ds2 stuff out a couple of months b4 and washed everything and got it ready in drawers, but this one it will be last minute, depending on when we move
its nice to be organised in advance tho, personally i prefer that if possible

previous birth experiences i am happy 2 hear, i always like a good birth story Grin dunno what the first timers will think whether we will put them off or not tho lol

WinterLover · 25/05/2011 17:17

its nice to be organised in advance tho, personally i prefer that if possible

Thats how im feeling. Currently DP and FIL have stripped the babys room, in doing that a lot of plaster has fallen off Hmm oh yeah and we haev a landlord inspection in 9 days!! They are NOW putting plaster board on the 2 walls that it came off and re-plastering. Costing £80 we dont really have, but there is no way around it :(

Once its plastered DP can paper it then I can paint it and put the cot up, and finally work out what I need/want for the room...

aStarInStrangeways · 25/05/2011 18:16

Firawla I'm not on medication yet and hope to avoid it, but am gradually calming down about the whole thing. Sorry to hear landlords have been letting you down, that sucks :( I really hope you find something soon as can't imagine how stressful it is being in limbo. Also I do believe that stress and tiredness affect your hormone balance, pregnant or not, so do say that to them next time you go in, especially since Metformin isn't especially helping you - make sure they're aware of your situation and how it might impact upon you. My experience so far suggests that the HCPs are very quick to just say 'you need medication' in response to high readings, and not that interested in considering the bigger picture.

MrsVidic I haven't done anything really, apart from go a bit mad buying cloth nappies and get my old ones out of the garage to ponder what to sell/keep. I think DH and I are going to start getting things out of the garage in a few weeks' time so we can get stuff cleaned up, decide what to keep and what to boot fair/tip. Probably won't put the cot up till much nearer term.

Firawla · 25/05/2011 19:47

winter i hope you manage to get it sorted out quickly, so you can get your room ready. its so nice when you have everything sorted and you can just go and sit in your baby room and look at all the stuff. i found that made me feel more mentally prepared, with my other 2

star they said to me i could either just start the medication now or see how it goes for a couple of days and then start it, but as they said its not really diet related as it was affecting the fasting readings more, then i thought well how much effect is it going to have with modifying my diet even more, because the after food readings were okay at that point, they only gone high after i started these tablets! but if it continues i will have to come off them again, but i wonder if they would want to put me on insulin then instead?! the only thing dietican said could try to reduce fasting readings was by increasing exercise eg an extra 30 min walking per day but i already walk much more than that daily anyway so wasnt sure how much effect it would have..
i might ask them about the stress thing just to see whether they think it would be affecting it. i didnt mention to them as i didnt really wana go in and moan to them about my personal circumstances, but i prob will just mention it next time

WinterLover · 25/05/2011 20:03

Thanks Firawla Its got to be plastered and papered by next Friday... DP and FIL have nearly got the ceiling and one of the walls covered in plasterboard so fingers crossed it wont take too long

MorningsMadness · 25/05/2011 22:19

Thanks MrsS, City Select also top of my list I think!

MrsV I've taken the stuff out of storage and sorted by size & keep or not but now I just have different boxes and no washing done yet, doh.

SelinaDoula · 25/05/2011 23:43

Its a boy!
The 4D scan was great, he is apparently already 4lb and he was sucking his fingers and sticking out his tongue. My DD was a little disappointed not to be having a sister but I said she could dress him in tu tu's and paint his nails lol
I've posted a couple of pics to my profile. Very reassuring to know all is well!

KTisPG · 26/05/2011 07:32

Great pics Selina he looks like a proper cheeky chappie Grin

Firwala good luck with the viewing today. Fingers x for a sensible landlord. Do you know what their issue is with children? Am assuming it is mess etc, but surely you could agree in advance to put right anything that gets mucky/broken etc. Seems v unreasonable to me.

I am going to see my line manager today for the first time in ages (we work in different offices) and I've got my year end review tomorrow so am dreading that. I'm also seeing both our boss tomorrow and have decided to ask him to oversee everything very closely this year and explain to him the level of contact I want on leave etc so he is fully in the picture. Still trying to decide whether to talk to him about how I'm being cut out of things or not. Difficult to see how I can do it without feeling like I'm telling tales, but on the otherhand if I don't say anything and it carries on it will be hard to escalate later. Wish I was more decisive!

I'm also happy to share birth stories, but don't want to put anyone off, not that mine were especially tricky :)

KLou111 · 26/05/2011 08:48

Ah Selina he's gorgeous!! Bet it was lovely to see the tongue. our little one only slightly stuck his/hers out :)
It's so reassuring that they're OK isn't it?

I think bubba is turning around as have been getted booted on the right side this morning!! Was quite funny as had my hand there and I felt a foot or something stick out for about 20 seconds before it went back 'in' again! S/he kept doing it. Must've gone on for half hour or so! Keep getting strange sensations on the left too.

Hope all goes well Firawla and KT :)

Happy to hear birth stories from you 2nd+ timers :)

awww selina lovely pics! and congrats on finding out its a boy
and wow 4lb, the babies must be all getting big! whats the average size for them at this stage?? i just realised i have no idea, but wondering how big mine is now, i just have the sheet with the percentile but i dont think it says an actual weight

kt tbh i'm not sure what their issue is, i dont think my kids make more mess and dirt than students sharing a house?!? i think it might be they dont believe us that we're not on housing benefit or something :S

WinterLover · 26/05/2011 09:24

Firawla I think its to do with ML payments etc.. There is nothing in our tennancy that says we have to inform the agents of a birth so im keeping quiet until we have the new lease then I will email them advising of baby and that my income will not change as I am entitled to maternity pay from my employers.

KLou111 · 26/05/2011 09:34

Have just ordered this in chocolate brown and white to go with our planned duck egg blue room and white furniture. Thought it was a lovely phrase :)
