WinterLover · 24/05/2011 16:02

Im back from midwives Grin

28w - Bloods, Anti-D, Blood pressure, babys HB, Urine and baby presentation.

I apparently have an awkward baby Hmm its been breech or transverse on every appointment, although not officially noted as that until today. Now I know why the consultant wants me to have a growth/presentation/cyst scan next tues.. I love been kept in the loop Hmm

Babys bum is sat in my pelvis or thats what she can feel..

Teladi Im gender neutral too - pram is black/grey but we have a lime green foot muff and bright orange one too Grin Are you getting fed up with people sterio-typing what girl/boy can wear? I am, if im told you must buy white once more i will not be held responsible for my actions Wink I may (if its a girl) just put her in blue/tractor stuff for shits and giggles Grin

MrsStevo · 24/05/2011 16:03

27 weeks today! Hurrah! That makes me in my third trimester too I think??

I agree with red being gender-neutral! Our pram is red (or at least will be when it arrives) and, although we know what flavour we're having, we would have gone with red either way.

dtm - my bump moves alot when I go to bed and prop myself up with pillows so I'm sort of semi-sat up. A glass of something cold normally gets them shifting as well and my whole stomach moves. Very strange but amazing to watch!

mrsV and littlemiss - thanks for the tips! I will add those items to my ever-growing list.

Have bought a wardrobe for the nursery now and my mum is coming to stay this weekend to re-design our kitchen for us (she's determined that she can definitely remove our useless "breakfast bar" that you can't sit at and will open up the whole kitchen ... will be massive if it works but a complete disaster if it doesn't!). Have ordered the pram and the co-sleeper bed now and got change mats and change bag at the Baby show on Sunday, so things are coming together.

Had the steroid injection today to develop babies' lungs. All I can say is OW!!! I'm pretty good with needles and pain and stuff but this bloody hurt!! Got to go back tomorrow for dose number 2 as well ... it's almost worst when you know what to expect!

Continuing my choccy addiction (couldn't touch the stuff until about 25 weeks and now every waking hour is spent snuffling around the house trying to fine another morsel!) have eaten a giant slab of melted choccy fudge cake this afternoon. Heartburn-central now!

MrsVidic · 24/05/2011 16:27

I too am in the can't physically stop myself eating club! I think the gym is counter productive as I finished my workout and got lunch ( a steak bake and sandwich from greggs + a strawberry tart and packet of crisps!)
It didn't half taste good though!!

neverlookback · 24/05/2011 17:29

wow this is making me hungry, im getting into peanut butter and banana on toast, tons of cereal any kind and cake! I have a bugaboo chamelion with brown base and red everything else which was for ds and i think we will be using this again for boy or girl, am trying to persuade dp to buy a phil and teds too in case i need a double but i think im just panicking about that!
had a drama today, put ds in bed for a sleep then i went out to read the gas meter and locked myself out, after climbing over the back gate to find id locked the back door too had to haul myself it again (its 7ft high) and then go and use a neighbours phone for my dad to come to the rescue!! not telling dp he would go mad! need a nice quiet early night now!!

mrsstevo thinking of you x
any news wishwales

MrsStevo · 24/05/2011 17:51

never - without meaning to sound judgemental, peanut butter and banana on toast??? ARE YOU CRAZY??? Peanut butter = yum, Toast = yum, bananas = mediocre but as combo ... bllllleugh! You have made me want peanut butter now though. Suppose that must have more nutrients in it than chocolate at least!

littlemisslozza · 24/05/2011 18:25

We have a navy blue Jane, great for either gender too, has looked really smart with red or blue blankets that my boys have.

neverlookback bleurgh!!! peanut butter and bananas on toast???? Makes my chocolate and sweets cravings look a bit boring!

MrsBB1982 with regards to the car, I went from a 3 door Polo to a 5 door Laguna which we bought just before DS1 (now almost 4) was born. Wanted a bigger boot and five doors. Really we should have got an MPV as that is what we have just traded our Laguna in for. Got a Ford S-Max now which has 3 separate, equally sized seats in the back, essential for us as we will have 3 children all in car seats and they didn't fit in the Laguna (apart from a little booster seat in the middle but DS1 was totally squashed and it was almost impossible to do the seat belt up). Also has the flexibility of two extra seats that fold down in the boot which will be handy from time to time (or if we have a fourth, unlikely though....! Wish we'd gone for an MPV in the first place as they are so versatile but still like a normal car, not too much like a minibus (which ruled out bigger people carriers as DH just can't bring himself to drive one of those!) Hope you find your ideal solution.

KLou111 · 24/05/2011 18:30

Wow lots to catch up on over a couple of days.
Glad everything going well in there MrsS and congrats on your third trimester!! Chocolate is defo my addiction at the mo, may have to make a choc fudge cake tomorrow!!!!
Never all I want now is peanut butter and banana!! Love squished banana on egg waffles at the mo :) Hand slap for climbing over your gate!!!
Teladi our pram is a dark red and we don't know the sex. It was black, yellow, green or red and red was the nicest :)

Had 28 week appointment today (am 28+5), anaemia bloods done, measured, listened to HB, and felt for positioning. All OK but baby still breech Hmm
Had a right laugh with the MW and another lady who is MW training. Were talking about the birth as telling them am terrified, and she was telling DH and I some stories about some births recently, was hilarious! Actually made me feel so much better about it all. But she did say DO NOT WATCH OBEM!! She said a lot is all played up for the cameras, and everyone is different, so don't use it a guide.
Have 4 classes starting end of June although she said we can go to a place about 40 mins away that you can do the whole lot in a day :)
Had the plasterer in today to give us a quote, so hoping he'll be in over the next couple of weeks and we can finally start the nursery hurrah!!

konatsu · 24/05/2011 18:57

Yukana, good luck with your move! I?m sure you?ll be fine! Wink

Firawla very good for the scan!

MrsS, good news and my fingers are always crossed!

WinterLover my baby too was in breech position at the last scan, and now I?ve got the feeling he?s transverse? Do you think shall I ask for a growth scan too through the NHS? Or I need to go private? Hmm

Pram colours,? I think most of the colours work just fine for both. I?ve got a blue Janè for my baby boy, but I had one blue as well when I was a baby?Wink
But what do I need to put in the pram when I go out? Sheets? blankets? Both?
How about in case of leaks? Confused

CappuccinoCarrie · 24/05/2011 19:08

Hi all, been lurking but not much chance to post recently.

MrsS still thinking of you and the peas, glad you're getting such excellent care and look forward to hearing of kitchen progress!

pram our phil and teds is red and neither too masculine or feminine, its a good choice of colour!

konatsu I found taking blankets etc in the pram easier than a snow suit or lots of layers on the baby, so if you go into a warm shop you can whip the blankets off, then easily tuck them back in when you go outside again, rather than dressing and undressing the baby. One suggestion for pram and cot is to put a folded muslin under the baby's head, then when the inevitable milk is regurgitated, you only have to change the muslin, not all the bedding.

mrsB we love our Ford C-max, a bit smaller than the S-max and doesn't have the third row of seats, but we've found a combination of three car seats that will go across the back, and its a nice high driving position and big boot, can't recommend it highly enough. The S-max is our dream car but not being able to afford one will feature in the decision making over whether or not we have a fourth child!

SPD still coming and going in waves, sometimes I can barely walk, other times its just a background pain and perfectly bearable. Being very good at not twisting/lifting/walking too fast, but slipped on Sunday and really hurt myself which won't have helped, so cross at myself as it was a really silly accident.

TMI alert anyone else got swollen bits?? Sometimes feels like the baby's gonna fall out Blush

On which bombshell I'm going to pour myself another guinness and wait for our take-away to arrive Grin

WinterLover · 24/05/2011 19:44

konatsu the only reason they are scanning me at 28 weeks is because I had a bleed 2 weeks ago and they want to make sure that it wasnt my cyst rupturing..(because leaving it 3 weeks is really helpful Hmm) but while they are checking that they are also making sure that there is no other reason baby is refusing to go head down at any point.

If your unhappy maybe speak to your midwife, but im sure if they we're concerned they'd scan you. Midwife today said there is plenty of room for them to move around/turn and plenty of time for them to do it too.

LifeOfKate · 24/05/2011 20:43

Yeah, Winter is right, so much time to turn around yet, like I said, my midwife didn't even check for positioning at the 28 week appt as there would not be much point and so much time still left. They almost certainly wouldn't scan you purely for positioning at this stage, much more likely to do it a lot further down the line, like when they would make the decision whether to try ECV and/or to do an ELCS.

LifeOfKate · 24/05/2011 20:46

Carrie - I have swollen bits sometimes too Blush Like everything is sort of hanging lower?! Blush Confused I think it's the weight of the baby on the pelvic floor...

Yukana · 24/05/2011 21:21

MrsS and wishwales I am also thinking of you both, hoping the little ones are okay too. Congratulations on getting this far. :)

Anyone finding walking a bit problematic? I'm not sure what position the baby is in... But, I find sometimes I get a sharp twinge or kick or something similar down there when I walk, and it stops me in my tracks. Baby has also very much taken a liking to kicking my cervix/in the nether regions, which does hurt quite a bit!

SelinaDoula · 24/05/2011 22:42

Looking forward to my 4d scan tomorrow!
I'm getting lots of heartburn now and feeling hungry all the time again.
Begginning to think about a bith plan...

aStarInStrangeways · 24/05/2011 22:51

Hello everyone, this thread had fallen off my Threads I'm On so I will try and catch up tomorrow.

Carrie my flange has felt like it's about to fall off since about 7wks pg Blush

Had dreadful day today with three hour wait to see specialist mw re. gestational diabetes. I won't bore you with the details but it was Not Fun, and it cost me seven cocking quid in parking charges because they were so late Hmm Growth scans in 2 and 6 weeks' time for me...

WinterLover · 25/05/2011 07:56

SelinaDoula Have fun at your scan, I have mine on Saturday and im soooooo excited Grin

bebemooneedsabreak · 25/05/2011 08:22

Been lurking, but cannot seem time to post properly

Hope everyone is doing well. xxx

Sprite NR is just as active as Moo even moer so with LOTS of little movements as well as the big pressing ones.

My feet are swelling as fast as my belly, tho I've not really put on any weight (well 1-2kg depending on the day) and I feel like a bloated whale left on the beach to bake... and walk around nearly naked when at home in the apartment.

I'm homesick for my own family and summertime playing at home (tho officially it's still Spring like there tbh)

I really want a very large cream filled cake, all to myself, to eat while hidden at the back of the dark closet followed by a very large glass of thick creamy milk... (which would then be followed, unfortunately, abt 45 min later with terrible cramps and the need to sit on the loo and then painful wind for the next 24 hours -TMI I know)

can't believe 3rd trimester is nearly here...hope time speeds up soon xxx (I'm getting excited) :)

Anu3 · 25/05/2011 11:00

So looks like heartburn has left the building for me since yesterday afternoon!! Nose still blocked up and cant sleep. Had a day off sick from work yesterday and working from home today. So not feeling as dreadful as i was over the weekend.

On a positive note Our bedrooms are all done now - Painting and laying new carpets - The nursery looks lovely and now we can start working on getting the safari theme going! Got loads of stickers delivered yesterday from ebay and amazon and loving them!

We also went and tried out 3 of the 4 travel systems we had selected. Love the bugaboo Bee Plus so far an going up to the Kiddiecare store this weekend to try the Babystyle Oyster and look at some more things. Finally starting to feel bit more organised!

We also found the perfect co sleeper! The bednest - www.bednest.com
Friends of my friends are going to let me borrow theirs for 6-8 months so i dont have to spend buying a new one! All i have to get is new matress and bedding which ive done now! So thats sorted aswell. In any case the bednest is out of stock until end of August! Didnt realise it would be that popular! have any of you used it?

Ive joined a pregnancy yoga class and had my first class yesterday - Loved it and loved the fact that they have a 30 min pre class tea a chat session where everyone talks about pregnancy issue / any other. Good to meet to be mums in the area!

Sorry for the long post - just feel ive been away for 5 days and need to update you on my life! Grin

MrsStevo · 25/05/2011 11:30

Wow anu you have been busy!! Good work on the bedrooms being done! Very intrigued to know what you end up doing with your safari theme. We have family coming to stay this weekend so the "nursery" is still a spare room at the moment but after that I will be getting it sorted. Would love to see any pics of your finished nursery so I can steal get inspiration from your good ideas! I've only got a few stickers so far - mostly cutey elephants, monkeys and giraffes. I got one of a tree that I thought would be much bigger than it is so I'm still trying to find a decent tree for one of the walls.

a star - sorry to hear about your awful day yesterday. Was it a one off or might you have to do it again? FX for your growth scans.

Without meaning to brag (i have had more than my fair share of problems with this pregnancy though I'm sure you agree...) I don't seem to have any other issues, apart from the occasional bout of heartburn but that's usually after I've scoffed 18 biscuits, a cake and/or some chocolate. No swelling that I've noticed and no issues walking (yet.... touch wood!). I am the size of a small house though! 43" waist at yesterday's measurements and I'm now at 12st 1lb (started at around 10st 5lb) but I don't think that's too bad for twins at 27 weeks.

Counting down the days til I finish work .... 2 + 1/2 to go! But have a mountain to do in that time and still have to go to hosp this afternoon and Friday so should really crack on!

Wishing you all a lovely day x x

neverlookback · 25/05/2011 11:47

mrsstevo thats not bad at all, i dare not measure my waist but im at 12st2 i was 10st13 to start and theres only 1 here so your doing fab, so keep eating the cakes and chocolate x

Anu3 · 25/05/2011 11:57

MrsStevo - I def will put the nursery pics up as soon as we finish the nursery. Im waiting for a big tree sticker to be delivered as well so will let you know if its big enough! Ive got blue tac to put up the pics on the wall first so i can move it around to make it look like i want it to before i actually stick them to the wall. That way i can change my mind a million times without messing up the wall :) Its worth doing that if you are like me and want to be able to change the stickers around! Grin

MorningsMadness · 25/05/2011 12:23

CappCarrie Yes! V weird and feels like one of the twins is about to pop out or push a foot through the skin somewhere!

MrsS Great that you're still going, being a twinnie too (and if you don't mind my asking) what did you get as a pram/buggy and changing bag?

Anu MrsS The stickers I got could be moved around and were surprisingly easy to do that so worth checking.

KLou111 · 25/05/2011 12:42

Oh everything sounds great on here!! So exciting for everyone now isn't it :)

MrsS I think your weight gain is very good considering you have 2 in there. I weighed myself this morning and I have put on 17lbs, which considering bubba is approx 3lbs I don't think is too bad so far. I seem to have lost 3lbs over the last 2 weeks Hmm, but I do have a choc fudge cake cooling ready to be iced!! All that talk about them made me look up a recipe and make one!! :) it's here if you're interested

Anu blimey you have been busy :)

Been feeling movement down there quite regularly, but baby is breech so putting it down to that.

Have a great day all x

OP posts:
Anu3 · 25/05/2011 12:59

All the talk of weight gain had me going and checking my weight :)

Ive put on approx 21 lbs so far and 29+4 today! Started out at 9.1 stone and now upto 10.7 st! But i think thats fine isint it? Do your MW's check your weight when you have your appoinments? I was weighed when i first went in at 8 weeks but not since. Just wondered if that was ok or should i remind the MW to it when i see her next?

bebemooneedsabreak · 25/05/2011 13:07

Need to point out I was over weight before conceiving and rather unhealthy in my eating/exercise habits!! And have been struggling to eat well and be active so I'm better off for the pregnancy and the baby.
That's been bothering me all day!
I do not want anyone to think ffs I've put on weight and this woman is bragging... :( :(
Sorry if I've made anyone have negative thoughts... gaining weight for most people is Obviously VERY necessary! xxx
