That is beautiful Klou and soooo true! What a lovely idea, and I'm sure it will look great in your room/colour scheme x

neverlookback · 26/05/2011 13:10

hello ladies, everyone sounds in really good spirits including me! i think my hormone hell has breifly passed and im feeling a lot calmer and excited, ive just got back from my 2nd acupuncture session for spd, it was very painful last night in my left him i didnt sleep well at all with ds being up 4 times! they put one needle into my pubic bone and then 4 into my pelvis at the back, so in my bum cheeks basically! and i had to lie there for 20 mins with my bottom out facing the door which wasnt locked! it seems to of worked already and has taken the sharpness out of the pain for sure, i would reccommend anyone suffering with spd to ring thier physio and see if its available as part of your antenatel care.
We have our 4d scan a week on monday i cant wait, but were not finding out the sex.
have a good day everyone x

SelinaDoula · 26/05/2011 13:19

I had terrible insomnia last night. Not sure if it was the excitement of the scan but I am knackered today!

Anu3 · 26/05/2011 13:54

Aww Selina your little one is gorgeous! The little man is a proper cheeky monkey sticking his tongue out ;)

Good luck Firawla

KT if you are not being treated well at work then Id say speak out. You?d rather speak now than wait until things get worse. G?luck with the meeting!

MrsV - Feel free to share your previous labour experience. Its always good to hear and learn from the birth experiences and think now is a good time with all of us nearly there ? esp the first timers!

Klou - Must be the hormones doing it ? But that little phrase made me well up with tears!!! It?s beautiful!

Firawla · 26/05/2011 14:03

awww klou that is lovely
winter hmm i see. yeah i wouldnt tell your agents anything, its none of their business. i am not even on maternity leave anyway, i've not worked since i had my 1st, so its not an issue for me but maybe they are just thinking like 'hmm only one person earning in the house, not so great'
never good to hear that has worked well for your spd! must be horrible to be suffering with it, to be restricted how much you can move around and stuff. hope your scan goes well, show us pics!!

WinterLover · 26/05/2011 18:06

:( I wish this baby would move into another position other than breech or transverse :(

Hows everyone feeling today?

Firawla thats what we're going to do, wait till new lease is here. Im sure they have to give us 2 months notice if they wish to end the tenancy, so if I get a letter any day il shit myself Hmm If they do then we'll be moving house when im 37 weeks, so not sleeping at the min with worry.

I think thats the reason they would give, as your a 'risk', or you are in their eyes, I hope you find somewhere :)

Annie456 · 26/05/2011 18:10

afternoon ladies.
Ive had an impromptu day off today and have done pretty much NOTHING! I'm getting those first signs of a cold coming on (sore throat, tight chest, hot ears) and I think it's taken it out of me. Should probably take another day off tomorrow but I don't want to get too comfortable at home with another 20 days left to work (not that im counting Wink)

So I have a quick question - how many of you ladies are doing pregnancy yoga or similar? I intended to do it but have never got around to it and am starting to panic that my body will be completely unprepared for birth...I guess it ties in with the labour stories but I'm interested to know if you did anything to prepare (including the dreaded massage 'down-there') or if the first-timers are yoga-ing / pelvic floor tightening / massaging already?

Yukana · 26/05/2011 18:36

Hello all, sorry for being quiet, I do lurk often and catch up with all your posts, but I've been so tired I haven't been able to respond. Keep us updated wishwales and MrsS, you have been in my thoughts. Selina Your LO is lovely! The sticky-out tongue made me smile. :) And Firawla my fingers are crossed for you.

DP decided although Scotland is nice he wants me to be close to family, so we're back to looking in our area again. Called up another 10+ agencies with 30+ properties. Only a few accepted DSS, but you need a guarantor. So, back to the drawing board as there is no way we can get a guarantor. The regular yo-yo-ing between having hope and having none is beginning to take it's toll, often I just want to sob in a corner on my own for a while at what a disastrous position we are in.
I live in a top floor flat with at least four flights of stairs. I can't see myself being able to cope going up them at 35+ weeks, as I'm 29 weeks and even now I'm overwhelmed - they knock me out and I can't carry anything when I'm going up them. I'm tired. DP is seriously considering going into a hostel and I think at this point if we got split up due to hostel issues or if we went in there, I'd just collapse into depression.

Sorry for the vent. I feel like over the past few days, I've really needed it.

Firawla · 26/05/2011 18:45

yukana are you not able to get the council to help you at all, eg if your mum was to do a letter saying she is no longer happy for you to live there, then i think you might be able to be fast tracked and able to get a council property? not too sure how it works but that is what i've heard. 4th floor with no lift is not really ideal :( especially having to take baby and buggy down there after she is born. i really hope you're able to work something out, really sucks not to be settled, im sure it will be like a huge weight off your shoulders once it is sorted! is there newhere you can go for advice about what you would be entitled to? im thinking like even maybe at your local children's centre they may be able to help you, they have family support workers and people that can sometimes give advice about benefits and things so im thinking housing they might be able to advise too, if you were eligible to get from the council?

MrsVidic · 26/05/2011 19:49

firawla the accommodation situation is so dire that unfortunately a hostel if often the only way to go while you wait for a council / housing association property. yukana the best thing to do is keep bidding and look into family hostels perhaps where you won't be split up. These do tend to be undesirable but when the hostel classes you as ready to leave then you will be moved up a band ( this is what happens where I work - Im deputy mgr at a sheltered accommodation for single people)

Dp has began to empty our nursery of the study stuff so I'm getting excited!

Were just in the process of getting a new laptop so I'll post my birth story then as it would be too much of a pita to do it on my I phone !

Teladi · 26/05/2011 20:25

annie I've been going to pregnancy yoga classes since 16 weeks. I've been enjoying it, it is not at all hardcore or difficult. It is helping me feel positive about the birth - which I hope will make a difference when the time comes!

Firawla · 26/05/2011 20:48

mrsV oh i see, that is pretty crap :(
i am quite peed off as i was supposed to go and see a flat tonight, dh couldn't come as he is still working so got my brother to come round and watch the kids while i went and the landlord did not even bother to turn up, so just a waste of my time waiting around
annie i've never done any of the pregnancy yoga or massaging urself in preparation for birth or any of that, still coped okay with birth so i wouldn't worry too much i think your body will cope either way, but pregnancy yoga could be quite nice to do

alibaba76 · 26/05/2011 23:39

Annie like Teladi I've also been going to antenatal Yoga since 15 weeks. I had never done Yoga before and I really enjoy it. There's not much to it really, we certainly don't stress our bodies out, it's more about breathing and relaxing and gentle stretching. Our teacher gives us breathing techniques that will help during labour (and visualisations too) and also the movements we do apparently help get baby in the optimum position for birth. It's really good and you get to meet other pregnant ladies in your area too. We've just set up a FB group for our lot, so we can all stay in touch!
So for me it was never really about preparing for the birth, but I hope some of the things I've learned will actually help after all!
It's not too late for you to start!

littlemisslozza · 27/05/2011 07:21

Aaargh!!!! I'm feeling v tired this morning, had my first bout of 'restless legs' last night so it took me ages to get to sleep, then the children both got up too early this morning. Restless legs are so horrible, and cruel.... I'm on my feet most of the day, busy, and the last thing I want to do in an evening is go for a walk! (Apparently doing that just before bedtime can help to keep them at bay). To top it off I woke up with cramp in one leg too. Oww!

On a positive note I am seeing the midwife today after what seems like ages, 28+4 now, this pregnancy is going very quickly!

Yukana and Firawla I hope you get your accommodation sorted asap, it must be quite stressful.

Selina congratulations on your little boy, he looks very cute.

MrsStevo · 27/05/2011 08:19

Morning! I feel like I've woken up as a new woman this morning after 7 whole hours sleep!! (I got 3 hours on Wed night .... was a zombie yesterday!)

Sorry to hear about all the accommodation nightmares some of you are going through, that must be so stressful when all your instincts want to start nesting. I will keep FX for you yukana and Firawla that you find somewhere lovely to bring up your small people.

Exciting (and nerve-wracking!) day ahead for me - growth scan at 9am which will determine the plan about babies staying in / coming out soon. Meeting with my consultant afterwards and hoping that he'll be happy with them and want them to stay in for a few weeks yet (am 27 + 3 today). Then I'm heading into work for my last day!!! Can't believe I'm finishing work already, it has gone so quickly ... but I'm so ready for it! And THEN my mum and dad are coming to stay so mum can do all manner of DIY jobs for us - including a slight renovation of our kitchen.

Feeling very positive about everything today - hope I'm not setting myself up for a fall (is it ever possible to shake that seed of doubt in the back of your mind that everything is going to fall apart?). DH can't come to the scan so I'm on my own with whatever news I get - eeeek.

Wishing you all a very happy Friday! x x

aStarInStrangeways · 27/05/2011 08:29

That is exciting (and nerve-wracking) MrsS - fingers crossed that everything is good with the peas and they're happy to stay podded for a few more weeks yet. And no, you never shake that seed of doubt once you're on the road to parenthood Grin It just takes root and grows over time to become a splendid worry tree. My dad is in his sixties and and still phones me in a panic when I haven't been in touch for a while.

sisterT · 27/05/2011 08:44

All the best for the growth scan, MrsS. I can only dream of 7hrs sleep as still have a stuffy nose and heartburn - gah! I am also working a nightshift tonight so feeling knackered before even getting out of my 'jamas ................

WinterLover · 27/05/2011 08:51

28 Weeks today Grin Its gone sooooo quick Grin

4D scan tomoro afternoon too, im so excited.

MrsS fingers crossed for your scan, must be a worrying time for you

MrsVidic · 27/05/2011 09:17

Morning all,

MrsS good luck today, fx for the peas!
I'm 30 weeks now and it's becoming all to imminent for me! Dp and I are ploughing through our lists but there's still so much to do!

Restless legs are awful, I got them last time, I found stretching before bed helped lots and upping your potassium levels (bananas help)

Apparently the baby slows down now but she's still doing gymnastics lol

SelinaDoula · 27/05/2011 09:50

Good luck MrsS!
I also had a much better nights sleep so feeling less grumpy today.
Saw the consultant midwife last night and he's siogned off my homebirth unless my BP goes very high/I get protein etc so fingers crossed al stays well.
He's been head down fr a couple of weeks now so hoping he stays that way!
Enjoy the 4D scan Winterlover they are fab!

neverlookback · 27/05/2011 10:14

aargh restless legs, i got with both my previous pg its not kicked in yet maybe ill be lucky this time!! the physio said in a sitting or lying position paddle your feet back and forward as fast as you can for 1 min this releases the built up tension (was a proper word but ive forgotten it) and go up and down on your tip toes for a min, and yes bananas are good too and for cramp.
Were at a wedding today its only at 4 and ds is at nursery till 12.30 and dd at school so i have a few rare hours to pamper and get ready in peace, just need to get off here and hoover then the time is mine!
mrss good look
has anyone heard anything on wishwales she hasnt posted for while i do hope she and her little girl are ok xxx

Anu3 · 27/05/2011 10:51

Good luck MrsS

Annie Ive started going to antenatal Yoga since this week Tuesday (@29 weeks). Its twice a week (once in a classroom and other in the pool - aqua yoga) Ive never done much Yoga before (barring a few classes in the gym) and Im enjoying it. The pool session is this saturday so i can give you more info when ive been to that one. Its only been 1 classroom session so far and i found out it was about breathing and relaxing and gentle stretching. But the other ladies in the class said its different everyweek and its good to get you ready for birth and labour. Whats also good is that you get to meet other pregnant ladies in your area. We have a tea and chat session for 30 mins before the class where everyone is talking about pregnancy related issues or just generally getting to know one another. So def recommend it if you have a class nearby you and as Ali said its never too late to start!

wishwales · 27/05/2011 10:58

We are 30 weeks today!! Morgan continues to grow and hold on strong. After four weeks in hospital, it has been nice to have a week and a half at home. Things are day by day now as far as when my cervix gives in and baby arrives but I am being a good girl on bed rest and feeling positive. We still go for growth scans and consultant visits every Tuesday.

Reading all your posts every day keeps me feeling like there is still some normalcy to my pregnancy. I think you all have even nudged me towards nesting - which is difficult from bed but my DH is very obedient, lol.

LifeOfKate · 27/05/2011 11:53

Great news that she is still in there, wishwales :o What's the betting that after all this stress she'll decide to stay inside until 42 weeks now Wink 30 weeks is a brilliant stage to get to, she'll be so much stronger than a few weeks ago even if she does put in an appearance soon :)

daisysair · 27/05/2011 12:48

Been away from the forum for a while, as I got a new toy-a net book (early big bday pressie from my parents) and I didn't have my log in details to hand...

Hope today goes well mrs S and wishwales FAB news that morgan is hanging on in there-must be lovely to be at home even if you are still on bedrest? I keep mean to drop in to both of you, that my cousin was born at 28 weeks 39 years ago. 3days old, she pulled her tubes out and since then has been just fine-yes she had a hernia and lost an ovary, but she's a fantastic mum to 2 little ones herself now. I know you know that statistically there are good outcomes for early born, but sometimes personal accounts mean more?? I know I properly relaxed these past few weeks being closer to 28 weeks (29 this weekend!)

I'm a bit anxious about the GBS stuff, but have shared my anxieties -ie i WANT a birthing unit and would prefer not to just chuck loads of anti-bs into both of our systems- with my midwife this week. Seeing her every 2 weeks from now anyway, so i hope she does some research/reads the stuff i left with her.

My thighs are killing me, but otherwise am well-looking into antenatal yoga :D

DIY is getting there too!

ooh changing bags someone said they saw a gorgeous one at the babyshow but that they'd sold out by the time they got back there-what was it???

speaking of stuff I have just found a gorgeous baby bouncer 2nd hand locally (the baby bjorn babysitter balance)
