DTM I just wait till she starts kicking then lift top up lol! I am usually on the settee though. Sometimes I can see my clothes twithing!

kt I really can't recommend a gym ball highly enough for back ache. You can siton them, flop over them to stretch and put your feet on them. Also a nice bath helps.

Teladi · 23/05/2011 12:55

Yukana regarding public transport in Scotland it really depends where you live. You didn't say where you were planning to move to so it is difficult to advise. I currently live in in Aberdeen and do not drive, I can get about OK but needed to choose where we bought our house based on this. Not everywhere would have been suitable. I used to live in Glasgow when I was at university and I would probably have had more options there as there are overground trains etc to the outlying areas. Generally, rural areas are not well served by public transport - I'm sure this is likely to be the same in England.

Hello ladies - Been away from the internet the last 3 days as ive been ill and have had a miserable weekend.

Ive had such a bad ?return of the heartburn? that ive barely been able to sleep. Its like my chest is on fire. Cold milk didn?t help on Friday and sat though it did last night. In addition ive also had a blocked nose (not sure if its hay fever or rhinitis of pregnancy) at night which means I cant seem to breathe through my nose and end up feeling suffocated and waking up.

In addition to the runny nose and exhaustion i got very hot on the tube on my way to work and got sick when i came in to work and threw up my breakfast

I feel so tired at work today - 3rd trimester is not being nice to me at all :( Sorry for the miserable post but i need some pepping up talk and TLC!

WinterLover · 23/05/2011 14:19

Back from the doctors and Im all sorted. Your not meant to take codine a lot in last trimester but you can take paracetamol (up to 1g) 4 times a day right up until you give birth.

I've been given Ranitidine twice a day for my heartburn, it apparently reduces the amount of stomach acid. He's given me this as gaviscon masks the problem apparently.

Signed off work for 6 weeks again so i definately wont be going back now.... weight of my shoulders now.

Firawla · 23/05/2011 15:21

anu poor you, that sounds horrible hope you're feeling better soon

winterlover glad you got your medication sorted and hope you feel better soon

i've been in for diabetes clinic this morning and got prescribed some medicine to help keep blood sugar down so hopefully that will work nicely, had a growth scan too and babies size is okay for now. was nice as could see a lot more detail than 20 week scan, sonographer was showing me his face, he was opening his mouth, really cute Grin looked like yawning. i also got her to double check gender for me, so definitely a boy

MrsStevo · 23/05/2011 16:01

anu and winterlover, so sorry you're having a rough time of it. Anu - do you reckon it's worth asking your GP for a px of ranitidine like winter? I've had it before and it worked a treat. I have to say, I too am finding that the heartburn is getting worse every day but I'm still sticking with the tums at the moment so can't be nearly as bad as yours.

Had a trip to the antenatal assessment unit this morning after a weekend of fretting about little movement from one of the twins. They tried, and failed, to do a heart monitory thing as they couldn't tell which baby was which so I just had a scan in the end and they're both ok. The baby that isn't moving much is the one without much fluid so he/she doesn't have so much room to move. They are making noises about steroid injections now so are obviously thinking that they might have to enter the world soon Hmm FX they will stay in there until at least 32 weeks but I have my doubts at this rate. The growth scan on Friday will determine the plan apparently.

This isn't what I had booked incidently. I specifically ordered a wonderful, relaxing, life-affirming pregnancy where I just wandered around in a glowing, pregnancy bubble and bought fluffy little booties and beautiful moses baskets. Humph.

Right! I still have another 1/2 pack of chocolate digestives to get through so I must get on .....

WinterLover · 23/05/2011 16:22

MrsS Im sorry they're getting you worried :( It cant be nice. I was so scared when I had a bleed couple of weeks ago so I hate to think how your feeling.

Id have stuck with gaviscon had it not got that bad it sends pains into my backand chest then down my arm.

Only 4 days and 23 hours until my 4D scan and I cant wait :) got a growth scan on Tuesday before I see my consultant too to check baby is ok and lying in the right position and that my cyst has either not grown or better still vanished.

Firawla · 23/05/2011 18:25

mrsS i hope your growth scan shows they are doing okay and able to stay in there a bit longer, keep us updated
have u got everything ready for them incase they do have to come a bit early?

MrsStevo · 23/05/2011 19:01

Heard back from the hosp, the consultant wants me in tomorrow for dopplers and another scan apparently Hmm and they're giving me my first batch of steroid injections too. Babies have been pretty wriggly this afternoon though so I'm thinking (hoping) that this is all just careful monitoring and they won't be whipped out.

I am gradually getting things together in case they need to come out soon. Only bits on my essentials list still to get are tiny-baby clothes (have loads of newborn stuff), tiny-baby nappies, nighties, nursing bra(s) and giant granny pants. Will almost certainly be having a CS now so will have to find attire that works with that ... floating tops / dresses I'm thinking!

Have eaten the second half of the packet of digestives but fortunately DH just brought me home a double chocolate cookie Grin

davidtennantsmistress · 23/05/2011 19:07

oooh sit & enjoy mrs s. how far are you now? good to hear you've had lots of movements.

winter glad you're sorted now with your meds.

fir - awww bless it's amazing how clear some scans can be isn't it?

mrs v - does that not freak you out?! lol. really hoping for this time.

anyhow am off for a warm bath - to try & relax/move this huge bump of mine - apparently i've either overeaten today and or he's moved to the most uncomfortable position & i'm struggling to walk properly (not waddling down there but old lady with a rock hard tummy)

oh good news today though DP is home in 3 weeks 2 days (not that i'm counting. Wink so he can come to my anti natal classes YAY!)

WinterLover · 23/05/2011 19:44

Thankyou :) DTM Enjoy your bath :)

Just getting my notes ready, and my questions written down as its 28w midwife appointment tomoro :) Anti-D and bloods... anything else??

littlemisslozza · 23/05/2011 20:15

MrsStevo over the bump maternity trousers are comfortable after a c-section, although I lived in pyjamas for the first few days in hospital anyway. Basically, no trousers that sit on your hips but you will be numb around your scar for a few weeks/months so it's not that bad. I had a c-section with DS2 and it was a lovely experience, will be having another this time and looking forward to it. Recovery was fine for me and I was never in bad pain, they dose you up on painkillers for a few days afterwards anyway. Lots of advice on here about c-sections if you look up a few threads. Hope it won't happen to you for quite a few more weeks yet, good luck with the scan tomorrow.

MrsVidic · 23/05/2011 21:49

mrsS i hope you get to keep thrm cooking for some weeks yet but if not Take loads of food for your Dp, so he can stay as long as possible. I would also get your in laws ( close family who would be harassing you to see them asap) to research prem babies and the precautions they'll have to take etc. The last thing you'll need is having to explain it all over the phone etc.

DTM it does to be honest, I had a nightmare she put her hand through my stomach last night.

I am knackered tonight! Not hungry but can't stop eating! Grin I still have no nursery to put the baby in and Dp is back at work! think I'll be renovating the study myself!

KTisPG · 24/05/2011 08:03

MrsS Keeping everything crossed for you and the pods. Sounds like your being well looked after at least.

I'm feeling a bit better back-ache wise. Thanks for the advice re birthing balls MrsV I have one somewhere - must dig it out.

MrsBB1982 · 24/05/2011 08:22

We've been bought a load of ManU kit by an over-excited grandfather-to-be. However this doesn't seem practical. We do not have any of the stuff we actually need except a car seat so at least we can get the baby home.

It kinda dawned on us we need a car. We've got a Clio which my husband will use to drive to work (30 miles away and not on train/bus route). Anyone got any suggestions for a car? Doesn't need to be anything flashy just safe with plenty of space. Looking at something around 2-4 years old.

DTM I don't do anything in particular to see him jiggle. He just has a pattern and I know that if I lie back on the sofa or bed around 7pm and 11pm he'll jump around so much my belly looks like a jelly!

WinterLover · 24/05/2011 08:27

Have any of you had your 28w midwife appointment yet? What happens at it?

Ive got mine today, I know im having anti-d and bloods and the usual stuff but is there anything else?

Firawla · 24/05/2011 08:42

i ended up having mine early so had it a couple of weeks ago, just was the usual blood pressure, urine, listen to heart beat, feel and measure bump

Leilandri · 24/05/2011 08:53

had mine last Thurs winter same as Firawla - blood pressure, baby heartbeat, measure of bump, and feel for positioning, test urine, bloods taken, and I was weighed too as my BMI was high at the start (6lbs on so far now Grin) and an arguement about breastfeeding!! Hope your appt goes ok, it's also a chance to ask about antenatal classes if not already done so...

WinterLover · 24/05/2011 08:59

Cool, thankyou. I have to have the anti-d jab again aswell :( Had it after a bleed a few weeks ago and had a dead arm for the rest of the day!

it's also a chance to ask about antenatal classes if not already done so I knew there was something to add to my list.. thanks for the reminder Grin If I dont write things down I bloody forget them now. GP laughed at me yesterday when he saw my list. He said 'Pregnancy brain set in then?' cheeky git!

LifeOfKate · 24/05/2011 11:29

Re 28 week check, I had to ask mine to listen to the heartbeat, she says it's not routine anymore, so I have to ask if I want it done Hmm. Also she didn't feel for positioning, she is quite a hands off midwife, so obviously doesn't think it's necessary at this stage. So just don't be surprised if your midwife doesn't do either of those two things! A bit of a shame though as I'd have loved to have known where baby was, DS was head down from the 20 week scan and just used to spin, this one is all over the place, I've felt movement in every place imaginable and am fairly sure it's been transverse until recently.

MrsS - hope those babies are still ok in there and stay in there a bit longer. How many weeks are you now?

Teladi · 24/05/2011 12:10

Is anyone else having problems with their legs? I've been waking up a lot in the night with sore legs - not cramp, just sore. It's sore to walk at the moment, actually feels like I have bruised the sides of my legs... I'm really starting to feel fat and waddly now with these random pains. Not ideal as I am still only 26 weeks!

Annie456 · 24/05/2011 12:57

Afternoon everyone - been away for a few days so just catching up on everyone's goings-on.
MrsS so sorry you're having so much stress at the moment. I'm thinking you're about 27 / 28 weeks now? Fingers crossed that they keep cooking for a few more weeks.

It's hormone city over here Hmm. some days I wish I could just sleep through and wake up the next day in a better mood! My commute is starting to be really tough but I've worked out that this is my last full week at work and then its 3 and 4 day weeks until I finish at 34 weeks....ahhhhhh. Counting down the days.

Going to visit my bro this weekend to steal borrow all his baby things. Should be able to acquire a cot and moses basket which will make the nursery look a little more prepared Hmm. I got John Lewis to price match a really good package deal on a bugaboo bee + car seat and adaptors so will order that too - just need to work out which colours to order for team yellow. Was thinking black hood with red cocoon but still seems a little girly with the red.... Hmm

oh and dtm i've been seeing the bump move for a few weeks now - works best when i'm laying flat - maybe s/he wakes up when i'm in that position. its very cute when it happens at 10pm...not so cute at 4am but probably good practice Grin

alibaba76 · 24/05/2011 14:33

Good and bad with me today. Got a cold which is horrible. But on the upside have bought our pram, should get it at the end of the week. It's been a real struggle to decided, but we went for Phil & Teds classic - got 20% off through Boots (a voucher I got when I joined their parenting club) and earned about £40 of advantage card points too - win-win!

Teladi · 24/05/2011 15:31

Annie I have ordered the Uppababy Vista in red and black, I think red is OK for team yellow but then I apparently have a different idea of gender neutral than most people... I have been told that a couple of the babygros I have bought for the wee one are boy outfits!

Firawla · 24/05/2011 16:01

teladi i think red is fine for gender neutral too
alibaba we have phil & teds too i think its good :D i still have a cold too, feel like crap
and getting more & more stressed out with the housing thing, another landlord said to me today no because he doesnt want kids, which is the 4th or 5th one now, and it is doing my head in :(
