Our old thread ran out of space! The horror!

OP posts:

PS - jealous of your train journey vallinna. I'm at home writing a stupid sodding essay on how I incorporate research into my teaching. I could save 4897 words by telling the truth: I don't. Grin

cowboylover · 13/05/2011 18:38

BrassicaBabe We had that convo as well but I didnt consider the amount of other fluids. Loving the JS at 30 weeks with twins, you deserve a Wine
I went from crying to laughing yesterday when bent over the sofa with strong BH and DH commented please can I remember that position when I am not in pain as he has a plan! Grin

nickel Sorry I cant help on the maternity clothes front as im a 20 so you would be swimming! Even with ample ass and bump I am wearing a size bigger in the Asda leggings, not the crops tho as they are to small Hmm

TTL I have defo expanded my beads collections and got loads of new necklaces and earings knowing they will always fit bringing some much needed colour and glam to get another black top!

Had a new sparkly pedicure today so will at least have nice toes when I go into labour. Going out tonight as now trying to fill all the days and night with as much activity as I can cope with so the time goes faster andkeep getting the feeling I wont be able to go for a while.

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 13/05/2011 20:09

Nickel I've had a rummage in the loft and found a couple of size 12 dresses which may or may not fit, a few skirts and a couple of tops. Have stuck them in the wash for you - PM me an address and I'll post em Monday Grin was feeling a bit wistful as they were some of my favourites in days gone by (don't expect them to be height of fashion!) but I'm realistic enough to know they they ain't ever going to fit me again, ha ha. Anything you don't like just donate to the charity shop...

Eskarina · 14/05/2011 08:58

Wow BB Definitely need a glass of Wine for JS atm. I'm just not in the mood, and haven't been all through pg. DH being very forebearing!

Nickel Try ebay for clothes. It's where all my mat clothes have come from. I've watched loads of things and put really low bits on at the last minute. I've missed out on far more than I've won, but what I have got has been at silly low prices, usually 99p plus postage.

I've got a cold today and feeling very sorry for myself. We're going into London to see a ballet for DH birthday and I can just see I'll cough or sneeze really loudly at the most inappropriate moment and want to die of embarrassment.

nickelbabe · 14/05/2011 10:04

Aw, thanks Katee! That's really lovely. (i don't "do" fashion, anyway, so don't worry about that! Grin )

I went into a chairty shop this morning, and found 2 dresses I thought might be nice - one a Bon Marche size 14 in a bias-cut and one a Monsoon Posh dress in a 12.

Both were too big.
The 14 was fine apart from the bulge at the back (as bias-cut dresses tend to do when they're too big) and the big gape under the armput. (i shouldn't have turned, or raised my arm, and I would have been none-the-wiser, but at £7.50 Shock I wasn't going to risk it)
The Monsoon dress was lovely, and fitted fine apart from the bust (still not big enough in the boob for a fitted dress! Grin ) In my non-PG body, I wouldn't have minded, just hoicked up the straps and worn no bra, but not with this one - if it's fitted, I would need to have fitted in it properly to even risk no bra.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 14/05/2011 10:19

I managed to find a few nice(ish) things at New Look of all places Nickel. Mostly t shirts and singlets (2 for £10) which have seen me through from spring. I have mostly been living in one skirt and 1 pair of jeans (and am a 14/16), so can't help you in floaty skirt front sorry. You could try freecycle. Or ebay for fabric. Are you any good at altering things?

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 14/05/2011 10:19

I meant freecycle for clothes.

nickelbabe · 14/05/2011 10:57

I am good at altering things, but I can't be arsed Grin

I have been wearing my skirts, but I'm annoyed at how tight they get over the day (especially cos I'm sitting down a lot)

I know all this is because I feel grumpy at how my body's changing, and getting annoyed that I can't find anything that fits :(

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 14/05/2011 12:26

If it helps Nickel, since I posted earlier I tried to get dressed. Put on my summer dress that just 2 weeks ago looked good over bump, only to realise I've missed my window and dress just now look very silly over bump. Sigh (and I too should be using my powers of sewing for good, but also cannot be arsed)

This is me getting the house clean for visitors. I've managed to clean the bathroom and am now looking at the vacuum cleaner. My sister I'm not to worried about impressing, but she leaves tomorrow evening and the inLaws arrive Monday morning and I can feel them judging me from here. I just know FIL is going to try and put boxes in the shed and I already fear my reaction to that (something along the lines of 'Duck off you annoying interfering Git').

nickelbabe · 14/05/2011 12:39

you could always plead pregnancy hormones, and get a BB gun and aim it at him "if you move anything you're forrit!"

(disclaimer: i would never advocate such behaviour)

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 14/05/2011 12:49

Grin He means well, but after some of the comments he made while helping us move, plus his whole attitude towards our estate agent and helping us out secure this place (you know as opposed to ending up homeless), means he is not my favorite person at the minute. I hate feeling beholden to people, because it means I'm not allowed to feel upset when they're crap to me (though if anyone tries to touch my bump again they may lose fingers).

cowboylover · 14/05/2011 13:10

Nickel I find it so hard finding something I feel good in or at least normal! We have been late out a few times because the outfit I planned on wearing and fitted the weekend before now looks odd on me!

Get well soon Esk!

Hope you have a nice weekend with your sister and FIL is not to much of a pain to you.

I am now on day 2 of BH/CTx that are every 5 mins and won't go away Hmm
Never thought I would want to be in more pain but at least that would mean I'm getting somewhere. After seeing her face and wanting to meet her so much on the scan yesterday I just want to have her here! Arg!
Sorry moaney and me post. Trying to be rational and say that its a max of 2 weeks away now.

aStarInStrangeways · 14/05/2011 14:52

I hear the maternity clothes woes. A very kind friend gave me a big bag of her old stuff, which was lovely and much appreciated, but as she's a few sizes bigger it doesn't really fit well and most of it isn't my style. We are having to be so careful with money that I haven't bought anything for myself, and I'm fed up with wearing badly-fitting, cobbled-together clothes. Next weekend I plan to buy some inexpensive bits from H&M or similar, just so I've got a few things that fit properly.

ebay is good for second hand maternity clothes, but again fit is an issue. I bought a pair of size 12 jeans in great condition from there, but they are constantly falling down and the world doesn't need to see my arse that badly.

cowboylover hope she comes soon :) No need to apologise, I think we can all relate to the impatience!

nickelbabe · 14/05/2011 14:55

see, if someone gave me stuff, I'd alter it, i think (if i got round to it or could be arsed Blush ), but I don't want to buy stuff and hav to alter it.

of course the world needs to see your arse! it's a lovely arse! Grin

vallinnapod · 14/05/2011 17:25

Greetings from Loch Lomond. Gorgeous here, I can imagine there are worse ways to see out your 20s and in your 30s than brekkie in bed, spa and general gorgeousness. Am making DH drink everything I want so he had bubbles for breakfast and lunch, is now on some White wine before I finsh him off with red and whisky tonight Grin he is fully embracing drinking for 2!

I haven't got the eyesight to catch up with the posts over the past 2 days on the iPhone but will catch up on the train tomorrow. Hope all is well with everyone Smile

aStarInStrangeways · 14/05/2011 18:00

I am craving a really salty, icy margarita Hmm

Dynababy · 14/05/2011 18:32

How exciting Cowboy defo a sign she'll be here soon!!

Happy birthday Valinna sounds like your having a lovely time!

Well first NCT class today .. was a mixed bag. People all very nice so hoping for some new local mummy friends which would be lovely. The downside was the 'visualisation' we did in the relaxation session .. we were to visualise our past as an ice sculpture in the shape of a bird melting into a pool of our new lives Hmm ... apparently me and DH were the only ones who were amused by this!! Grin Hopefully less of that and more chat in the next sessions! We also made a list of things we'll need for baby ... which has resulted in an obscene amazon splurge from me this afternoon Blush. However once the mammoth order arrives the only things I could possibly need are some flat sheets and a breast pump else is now in the bag! I even went back to our old thread and checked the list BB got from her sister .. all done bar these items!

Off out for dinner tonight with friends - might be tempted to have a wee Wine

Eskarina · 14/05/2011 21:57

Glad your NCT colleagues seem lovely Dyna, that slightly Hmm about the visualisation. Our classes start in a couple of weeks. I think I'll almost be disappointed if we don't get something cringe-worthily daft to do!

And indeed, happy birthday Vallinna. Hope you're having better weather on your holiday than we're having in Herts today - cold, wet and windy! I hit the big 3-0 in December, and whilst Scotland may not be the place to do then, will def be remembering the spoiled-rotten-in-spa part of plan!

I've also had a bumper haul of baby things. A colleague at work wanted rid of her entire collection of baby stuff, so I went round last night and bought a cot, crib, travel cot, moses basket, sterilizers, toys, and about a hundred other things from her for a grand total of £250. DH was slightly aghast that I could acquire no fewer than 4 things for Squig to sleep in. Plus now we have to find somewhere to store all this stuff - we're nowhere near having a nursery ready - still working on redecorating the kitchen!!

Eskarina · 14/05/2011 21:58

Ooh Cowboy I missed your post somehow. Hope things are getting going, and good luck if they are!

takethatlady · 15/05/2011 09:33

Ooooh cowboy how exciting! How many weeks are you? (Sorry, I have a brain like a sieve ...). Babies are being born everywhere - this thread, another baby born on 12th on the June thread and another one on the way as we speak! Very exciting :)

V disappointed now that we've had no galaxies of stars and no ice sculptures at our NCT classes. It's all largely sensible with the odd bit of new-ageyness at the fringes but not too much at all.

Happy birthday vallinna, have a brilliant time in Loch Lomond, you cow Envy Grin!

DH finished painting the nursery yesterday, though he might give it another coat today, and started planning all the art work he wants to do for her. Then he got all excited at the prospect of driving me and Isobel home from the hospital. Then he went and bought me a big mint Aero and a bag of jelly babies for watching Eurovision, and gave me no less than three massages for my achy back. If he's not careful I'm going to shag him senseless, despite limited mobility from the bump down Grin

cowboylover · 15/05/2011 10:30

Sounds like a lovely birthday Vanilla!

Did you have a Wine Dyna? I think I may have drank the nicest half of Strongbow ever on Friday night after not having any since August so its good to treat yourself.

I didn't NCT it but that does sound fun but I can't imagine DH sitting with a straight face through them, I did speak to a few people in the NHS ones but there where just too many of us. I keep in touch with someone I started talking to on the GTT wait and have spotted a neighbour with a baby only a few days old so I will have to leap subtly out the door when she's out again!

Due date is today and it feels a little odd to be honest. All the tightenings have slowed down and I'm definatly more emotional! DH took me shopping yesterday and I fainted so won't be doing that again Blush

Baby2b · 15/05/2011 18:55

Hello, hope everyone is having a good weekend?! I usually just lurk with the odd post on here but struggling to keep up at the moment. Just moved to Edinburgh and trying to get my flat organised and catch up with family. Been massively splurging on everything baby related. Though struggling to find non ugly maternity wear. Why is everything so floral and frilly?

Going to try and scan back over the posts I have missed. From a quick glance it looks like u are anytime now cowboy? Very exciting!

Apologies if I have missed anything else. How far along is everyone else? I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and sporting a very sticky out bump and the beginnings of a waddle. :)

aStarInStrangeways · 15/05/2011 19:41

Hello all :) 28 weeks here and also have sticky-out bump and waddle Grin

Baby2b I agree, there is a lot of hideous maternity wear out there. Have just won a bundle of cropped jeans/shorts on ebay, so hoping I can dress them up with nice tops. Sick of feeling like a frump.

Had a nice weekend albeit quite hard work - DH went to see a friend yesterday so it's just been me and rather overtired DS. He was foul all day yesterday but thankfully refreshed today after a solid night's sleep. Then my folks came over and took us out for a carvery :) DH home in time to do bedtime, score!

I am currently sitting on my hands trying not to shop for cloth nappies Blush Seriously contemplating putting the new baby in Itti Bitti Tuttos. It's a big initial outlay but they're birth-to-potty so would save us money in the long run...and they are seriously cute...aaaarrrgghhh.

cowboylover · 15/05/2011 23:40

Did anyone see Lady GaGa on the big weekend? I link she wanted to join our club with a PVC fake bump! Now that's maternity wear! Grin

Baby2b: hope your enjoying the new place, everything will find a place!

Star: I have not used them but have heard great reviews from friends and as you said they will last a long time.

Well as its nearly midnight I think its safe to say DD won't be one of the 5% that are born on the EDD. DH just shared his theory that she will be like me with my notorously bad time keeping and arrive just as he's getting pissed off worried where I am as if nothing had happened.

vallinnapod · 16/05/2011 11:22

LOL Cowboy I like your thinking! In which case Ted should arrive on time here as I am always early and DH always late Grin I have everything crossed for you that it happens soon!

Nickel sorry about the clothes stress Sad I do know the feeling. I have a whole load of (non-maternity) clothes on eBay at the moment to fund some more maternity wear!

Star - loving my Tuttos Wink I am very upset that their sole purpose is to be shat on....DH is very Hmm at my suggestion we should perhaps use a disposable underneath Grin

Loving all the sticky out bumps and waddles! I am 24+2 now. Still no real bump, although I think I look more preggers now! If Teddy were to arrive early the medical world would now do all they can to help him, yet I still have so far to go!

It's alternative medicine day here! Got acupuncture and then off to the homeopathic hospital for a talk on homeopathy in pregnancy and labour and a quick (unscheduled) midwife appt so I can hear his heart beat - just cos I can Grin Will let you all know if there are any decent hints and tips!
