Glad your train journey went well, 1st class always helps!

I just got some feeding bras from mothercare, they are a bit rubbish to be honest and not got much cup room in them already and they are a G but no other shops locally so going to wait til milk comes in to see what I can get.

NN I hope they can give you some good reasurance at the breast clinic very soon as must be a scary time.

My fav JS season is fast approaching so I hope I recover from the birth soon as we are already looking to upgrade our little love nest dome tent to a family model for the summer so we can take her camping Smile

MW tomorrow and scan Friday so hoping for some movement soon.

frakyouveryverymuch · 12/05/2011 05:33

At 39 weeks I was still a 32F. 3 weeks after and I'm definitely bigger than that!

I would get some support vests/non-sized wrapover bras for the first few weeks.

ample warning for me, then - i was just going to blindly follow the information available Hmm

anyway, i was talking to my friend at swimming last night, and I've decided it might be more expedient to make my own feeding bras.
I can make the back adjustable (further than the normal 3 sets of hooks) and I can make the fastening that undoes to allow feeding a bit more user friendly - the ones I saw in the Evil Shop (M&S) had clips that no way could you undo one-handed while holding a grizzly baby!
I'm not sure about the cup size, though - that's the main problem, isn't it?
I could always make a large cup and a removable lining that was the size of my cup at 39 weeks.
(or something that could be unclipped to expand to fit? maybe?)

nickelbabe · 12/05/2011 10:37

Nelly - fingers crossed it's just a lump of gristle and you're fine.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 12/05/2011 16:36

I'm pleased that even though I come across sounding like a stalker (I just have a knack for remembering random and obscure details, can make me a good addition to a pub quiz team Grin), it is actually someone else doing the actual stalking Grin. Nice to see you NN. It's good to be reminded there is life outside of sore hips, ever increasing boobs and flatulence. Grin Hope all works out on the boob lump front.

I've been feeling very anti-social and grumpy today. However I have finally figured out how to be left in peace and quiet. Yep I'm taking full advantage of my lactose intolerence playing up and err, smelling my family out of the room Blush .. Grin. (I truely am a delight GrinGrin)

Nickel you'd be surprised at how quickly you get the hang of those little clips (esp as they're standard across the board in my experience) one handed. Your LO getting jets of milk in it's eyes/face/everywhere however, nothing can prepare you for that (nor does it get any easier).

vallinnapod · 12/05/2011 16:59

Well, I got two bras at M&S that are super comfy - their non-wired t-shirt bras rather than maternity (which are crap!). Now a 36D! Quite proud. I cannot believe how hard it is to buy maternity/nursing bras on the high street. Nickel you could make a killing if you got it right!

NN lovely to hear from you - I hope all is not too serious. My SIL had this when she was PG - it was just hormone changes.

I too have the rage...I actually emailed a complaint to the bus company today because the bus soared past me at the stop (I really am hard to miss) and then I got really peed off when people were late to a meeting today Blush. Quite unlike me....

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 13/05/2011 09:10

Was a bit Hmm this morning, DP has started a new life drawing class and emailed the tutor about something, showed me what he had written as he had wanted some help phrasing it and he had later included the phrase 'and she is a wonderful model'. She's in her 50s, but seems to have a very good body (from DPs drawings) so very nearly had me in tears! He has since clarified he meant that she is v. good at staying still, but jeez making comments like that about a naked woman who isn't your pg partner is not good!

Right rant over, must pull self together...

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 13/05/2011 09:48

I think the thing that bugs me about pregnancy is the ability for the tiniest little thing to knock you completely off guard...

vallinnapod · 13/05/2011 10:39

Awh Katee gotta love the irrational emotions. My random crying is now random rage Blush

My turn to be on the train today Grin Very much enjoying first class. Had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for brekkie and now knitting/trying to watch all my USTV I have stored up! A most enjoyable way to spend my last morning in my 20s Smile Will wave when I enter Scotland!

BrassicaBabe · 13/05/2011 11:16

Hiya! Such alot of chat to catch up on! Grin

Glad you are still around and about Nervous

Soooo much to decide on the bra front. Shock Normally I assume that support vests are only for the flat chested. But if they are good enough for frak at 32F then they are good enough for me..! Would you be kind enough to recommend some support vests/non-sized wrapover bras if you've got time?

Well, after doing too much at the weekend, then taking Monday off as sick, then struggling at work on Tuesday and leaving early, I've been working from home for the rest of the week. Which pretty much translates as sitting on the sofa with a laptop on my knee, sky+ on and answering e-mails. I'm beginning to dread maternity leave to be honest Blush, DH will expect me to do something, whereas now he thinks I'm working hard and leaves me alone! Grin

Have we had a medal ceremony on the grads thread? Can I have one for still JSing DH even though 30 weeks pregnant with twins?! It's not glamorous and I don't feel sexy on top and I'm likely to pass out if on my back, but we manage it anyway!! Grin

Oh, while I've lowered the tone, I'll continue in the same vein....DH and I had an odd conversation over lunch yesterday. He's heard that some people use sex in an attempt to get labour going. Well, he was most disgusted for the poor MWs etc who have to deal with the "left overs"! Grin I told him he was over egging his "achievements" and that even so once labour got going there would be enough other fluids to dilute anything else....He wasn't convinced!

frakyouveryverymuch · 13/05/2011 11:25

Well I will confess to using skanky Mothercare wrapovers - was a 12 at the end of pregnancy and until my milk came in on day 4 currently in a 14 and they're slightly tight, but they're still very supportive even when I'm deflated after a feed.

Also got some of their crop top style but that results in a monoboob and some nursing vests with inbuilt support.

I take the view you're going to wear one and have a couple in the wash - last week I was washing daily and 3 were going in every evening leaving me one to wear at night which would typically be soaked in the morning. Now we're down to one for daytime, one for night! But honestly I'm washing so often I don't want or need great quality. They're supportive enough and they'll do the job for 6 weeks. Plus there's no faffing with clips, you just pop the boob out. Once the sizing settles a bit more and I'm not fluctuating 3 cup sizes inasmuch many hours I'll get some nicer ones!

I've just nearly had a breakdown this morning!
had a letter from HMRC saying "your empoyer's NIC/tax payments are now overdue etc etc"
FGS! I jsut spent last week crying over the phone top you people about this! I don't owe you any fucking money!
It's not enough that you fill in your forms online and submit them, you then also have to go to the payments section and tell them that you don't owe them anything!!
Why the fuck can't they just put that all in the same section???
When you get to the end of the form, it should have a bit that says "do you need to pay anything? do you want to pay it now?"
rather than you having to trawl through the fucking site looking for ways to tell them something they should already know!!!
Angry

nickelbabe · 13/05/2011 11:32

oh, and this comes after me putting on my favourite summer dress (it's always been roomy, so I figured it should fit fine, notwithstanding the lumpy tummy sticking out, but i'm reconciled to that now), but No! I can't wear it because my Big Boob Big Bra shows over the top of it!
and i can't hide the bra with a vest, because it looks like i don't know how to dress myself.

And so I'm wearing a skirt that feels too tight (and none of the other clean skirts in my wardrobe sit well - most are properly fitted, so don't allow for the extra food i've eaten Blush), and I know that by the end of the day i'm going to feel tight and sick. :(

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 13/05/2011 11:39

Get thee to the maternity clothes shops Nickel! I had given up on most of my skirts and trousers by week 8 due to the bloating... maternity stuff is comfy Grin seriously though, hope you don't feel too bad!

nickelbabe · 13/05/2011 11:43

I haven't got any money!!! :(

I keep looking in the charity shops for knee length floaty summer dresses, but tehy've got horrid things on the dress racks at the moment - can't they realise I'm in need here?

I know that a normal floaty summer dress will be fine for at least the next couple of months, and I've seen loads I like( in new shops), but I can't afford them!

It's definitely the waists - i feel fine when I'm in a dress. ( or a very loose skirt)

I did dream about making a dress out of some patterned silk I've got upstairs.
Problem is, it's chiffon, and therefore see-through.
and the only fabric I have suitable for lining is stiff (left-over form my wedding dress) and therefore not suitable for a floaty dress.
I'm sure there must be some floaty lining upstairs somewhere, but guarantee it's not silk and therefore still unsuitable.

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 13/05/2011 11:46

I know its not so smart, but I found long tops and leggings have been a lifesaver - you can put the waistband under your bump/bloat so its more comfortable. Most of my dresses still fit (just), but know what you mean about the bra strap/bra top problem. I mostly just ignore it and wear the dress anyway (just spend every 10 mins adjusting it)

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 13/05/2011 11:49

What size are you Nickel?

nickelbabe · 13/05/2011 11:49

I can't wear trousers of any kind.
It's a thing of mine. They've never been comfortable.
(i have enough issues with knickers - and even my big knickers are getting too small - DH didn't agree with me, he thought I was just being grumpy cos I think i'm fat, so I made him try to take them off. He struggled too! Grin I might need to go up a size soon....)

I did have a go with a safety pin, but it made the front pull back funny on the shoulders, and then gape oddly above the level of the pin Hmm

nickelbabe · 13/05/2011 11:50

size?
normally a 12 on the bottom and a 10 on top.
I think I'll be looking at 12s for the moment, going to 14s later in the summer (14 on the bottom anyway - that's where floaty dresses are good - you fit them on the top and they hang over the bottom even if it's bigger)

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 13/05/2011 11:55

I think I got rid of most of my size 10/12 clothes, but will have a look through to see if there's anything suitable for you, I may have some elasticated waists somewhere! Grin

nickelbabe · 13/05/2011 11:57

oh, that's sweet, thank you :)

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 13/05/2011 12:08

you're welcome - no promises though! Smile

frakyouveryverymuch · 13/05/2011 14:27

nickel I have some summer mat clothes that aren't suitable for nursing I can lend you including a floaty dress which is very bump covering and some tops. Not so good on bottoms as I lived in one pair of shorts and one skirt and both are knackered.

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 13/05/2011 15:27

ooh, yes, please, that would be lovely!
I'll reimburse postage.

takethatlady · 13/05/2011 17:23

Awwww ladies you are all so lovely :) I'm still in my very limited range of maternity clothes so I can't offer to lend/send them, but do check out the ASOS maternity clearance if you can - they have a few bargains on there if you do get any £££s to spare whatsoever. I totally second the leggings (currently 2 for £8 in Tesco!) and floaty tops scenario, and have also resorted to wearing DH's t-shirts occasionally. Maternity clothes are so rubbish anyway. I am still in high heels (just about, and when I know I'm not going to have much walking/standing to do in a day) so I use them to glam up otherwise appalling outfits Grin
