Our old thread ran out of space! The horror!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
nickelbabe · 18/06/2011 15:13

ha!
I think we're going to still be of the stage that when the baby's born, we'll only have the things my chorister's mum gave us, and 2 sample newborn nappies. Grin
newborns can fit into larger nappies, can't they? Wink
(she gave us a bunch of nappies that are a lot larger than newborn - probably for 1yo)

takethatlady · 18/06/2011 18:22

Awww esk I know how you feel. I had a big meltdown at DH the other week when the outhouse roof wasn't getting sorted and he seemed unable to comprehend that I didn't want workmen in and out when the baby's born or that I actually needed the space out there to get organised. In the meantime I'd had the windows replaced, organised all the quotations on the roof, re-organised half our house, had electrics done, etc. Safe to say he sorted it out pretty quickly after that Grin

But if it's any consolation, I'm 39 weeks today and every job we have done seems to have made more jobs. The new bathroom door is expanding and sticking, there's loads of crap in the garden to take to the tip, etc etc. The list never ends! But I feel a lot calmer now. Like coaaf, I think once I got the things done I really cared about (irrational or otherwise) I felt much better about all the other things that need doing. So the upshot is, I think you're 100% right to get fed up and annoyed (maybe it's a pregnant lady rite of passage?!) but don't worry to much, like nickel says. It'll all be fine in the end :)

Happy due date coaaf!!! I did a four-mile walk today. Didn't have any effect though Grin

Have just posted a long rant on the June thread about my mum trying to manipulate her way ever more fully into our lives. DH is on the brink of ringing her up and reminding her whose baby this actually is ... grrrrrrrrr Angry Grin

takethatlady · 18/06/2011 18:23

Don't worry too much. That is the second time in two days I have fucked up my to/two/toos Angry Blush Angry. I think this one was at least a typo ...

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 18/06/2011 18:36

I braved the supermarket on a Saturday for the first time in ages. Remind me not to do that again ever anytime soon! Saw the relief teacher from DS's playgroup, who made the mistake of saying, 'Oh COAAF's DS your baby still hasn't been born yet.' I thought I was very polite (in a pointed, fed up pregnant lady kind of way) in replying 'It's only due today, so it still has lots of time'. She went quite and wisely didn't say anymore Grin

Am thinking maybe later this week it'll appear, but we'll have to see.

NervousNelly · 18/06/2011 19:29

Hello viroids :( - No, not upduffed yet.

Just popping in to say how exciting it is that coaff and TTL are so close! I don't know if there's a "good luck" sort of message I should be expressing, but I am a bit Shock that you are at that stage already. Where did the time go???? I lurk a fair bit on your thread, not least because you are all on matty leave and clearly have plenty time to chat Wink. But I will keep an eye out for the new arrivals over the next few weeks :)

And then, come back to the JS thread asap, haha. I'll probably still be there when you do Hmm.

Mwahs all round Grin.

NervousNelly · 18/06/2011 19:29

Oooh where did that :( face come from?? It was meant to me a :)!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 18/06/2011 19:55

Waves at Nelly in a languid, to full of chocolate to move kind of way. Are we allowed back in the JSing thread if there is no TTC going on, just recreational JSing? Tis good to see you, drop by and say Hello more often.

Baby2b · 18/06/2011 20:54

Just a quickie, there is a good sale on in Mothercare. 50% off lots of items e.g. tomee tipee (sp?) pumps and sterilisers.

NervousNelly · 18/06/2011 23:22

Why of course coaff - for that is the point of the thread, no? Wink. I am most definitely not focussing my efforts on shagging this week, as it doesn't matter when I do it....though I have had extra helpings of wine tonight, just to liven it up a little Grin.

Ooh but before I do, a belated congrats to coyboy (you'll always be that to me!) on the arrival of Felicity :)

BrassicaBabe · 19/06/2011 09:08

to nervous (Mental note to nip over the JSing thread to see who's up to what)

Quick rant about DHs please....So he goes out drinking last night. I have no problem with this. I'm happy for him to blow off cobwebs before the babies arrive. In fact I'm just happy I don't have to schelp around with him! But he comes in a 3am. Needs me to make 2 quick phone calls because he's left his phone in the taxi, turns the light on by mistake, twice, then promptly falls into bed and starts snoring. He is a general snorer and usually after little prompting he turns over and all is fine. But I couldn't shift him no matter what I did. So at 4.15 I move to the sofa! Angry Fecking great night's sleep - not! He's stll up there snoring now. Hmm

cowboylover · 19/06/2011 18:42

Thanks Nervous! That was a while ago now. Grin

Happy shopping eveyone, its so much fun and all part of the nesting thing as I felt so much better once I had the moses basket ect

I am keeping watching to wait for the announcements coming soon!

I am loving being a mum and even getting into little routines now.
MIL is being very over bearing but my DH is going back to work tomorrow so she will hopefully back off or I won't have DH giving me the evil eye when I screen the calls and don't answer the door!

Going to say hi to the JS thread. In the tradition I pounced on a very suprised DH a few days ago swiftly followed by a panic when I remembered that I'm not on the pill again get followed by a swift trip to my GPs who said I should apparently wait til my 6 week check. Opps I must have missed that notice!

KateeTheBump · 20/06/2011 09:47

Morning viroids, lovely day today and stuck in a stuffy office with nothing much to do, thank heavens for MN! Grin

Fairly productive weekend at our end, the nursery is painted at last after lots of preparation and looks bright and cheery. We managed to get the cot erected too, which was interesting as done by committee and with a phone call to SIL to find out where the four extra bits went... they didn't! Also got all the covers off the pram for washing (degree in rocket science required) and washed all the baby bedding we've been given, so good jobs done! I'm now knackered Wink

Also managed to buy a few more dresses (mostly non-maternity) to keep me sane over the summer - Peacocks isn't bad for preg friendly clothing, if you ignore their paltry maternity section and go for the handkerchief dresses instead.

Hope you get DH stirred into action esk its peace of mind as much as anything.

Keeping fingers crossed for COAAF and TTL, hopefully not long to go now. I'm putting an order in for a 38/39 week baby please Grin

nickelbabe · 20/06/2011 10:11

morning all!
i'm a bit Hmm this morning, because I'd concluded that I was getting movement signs. Very randomly, constantly, I get these little stabbing pains (feel a bit like a stitch) - never in the same place, but in the same area.
I commented to my friend (who is an expert because she's had 4) about it, and she said that no, the stabbing is just ligaments stretching. Then she described the flutters as like wind.
I haven't had any of those!
the only wind round here turns into genuine farts!
So now I'm annoyed because nothing is happening !
everyone says "ooh, 16 weeks, you should be getting this that and the other now".
no, i bloody well am not! Angry
I'm not complaining, not complaining, not complaining, not complaining.....
(i'm not worried about Isbn- cos I know it's moving, because when the midwife did the heart beat thing last week, it kept moving around, so i know it's okay)

nickelbabe · 20/06/2011 10:14

Hi Nelly - lovely to hear from you.
sorry you're not upduffed yet, but at least you've been getting plenty of practice in Wink

takethatlady · 20/06/2011 10:18

Waves at nelly and coyboy Grin. Glad you're both doing well (at both ends of the JSing experience!)

39+1 today. Bit of bleeding and cramping yesterday. Nothing today :(

coaaf, where are you?

KateeTheBump · 20/06/2011 10:19

Morning nickel those early flutters feel a bit like large bubbles in water (think about putting an empty bottle into the bath and the rising bubbles you get with that). 16 weeks is still quite early I think, so don't listen to em! I had the opposite problem, in that I felt mine v. early and hardly anyone believed me Hmm

A cold drink and lying on one side quietly might induce some flutters, though I felt my first in the car... the seatbelt was pressing against belly. DP can feel kicks, but pretty much no one else can feel them as they're quite subtle from the outside (still find it a bit weird that there is a small human inside me booting me!) Grin

nickelbabe · 20/06/2011 10:20

thanks ttl :) that does help a bit, knowing that it's not prescribed at 16 weeks (cos now I'm 17+2!)
I just want a clue that it's not just me getting fatter an fatter (especially cos people keep mentioning eating for 2, and the biscuits I'm having to eat because the parasite is sucking me dry! Shock)

nickelbabe · 20/06/2011 10:20

x-posts, katee - thank you too :)

BrassicaBabe · 20/06/2011 10:25

I think 16 weeks is still early for movement nickel. Don't worry, it'll be along soon Smile

Wow! A hive of industry in your house katee!

Hope you get MIL sorted cowboy Grin Must be funny to have to think about taking the pill again Smile

Well I've done a tesco shop this morning, stuck the sheets in the washing machine, and tidyied the kitchen. So now I'm sat catching up with SVU on Sky+. All is good! Grin Might even fit in a snooze shortly.

takethatlady · 20/06/2011 10:28

Ah hard at work bb :) Wink I am MNing and watching Jeremy Kyle before I set to work (putting pictures in frames, doing the odd footnote, maybe going to Tesco's to get some bread). Life is just so hard at the minute Grin

nickel people kept saying I 'should' have felt kicks at around your stage, and saying I looked small for 4 months pregnant, etc - I think pregnancy is very good practise for motherhood in that regard (i.e., I'm guessing we need to learn to stick our fingers in our ears, yell out 'la la la' and ignore basically everybody as much as possible!)

takethatlady · 20/06/2011 10:28

PRACTICE.

Not practise.

God I hate myself.

BrassicaBabe · 20/06/2011 10:29

Blime, a host of x-posts by me!

Good point ttl, coaaf has been rather quiet HmmSmile

I felt my first movements at night when lying quietly. The subtle movements were nice. These days they are quite violent!

KateeTheBump · 20/06/2011 10:34

15 weeks and counting to maternity leave... doesn't sound too long when you say it that way Wink - envious of your nap BB!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 20/06/2011 11:19

COAAF has been quite because COAAF is a lazy bint who is to exhausted to type anything. Didn't get out of bed until after 5pm yesterday Grin. No signs of baby arriving here. Had a family trip to the supermarket on Saturday which I think completely wiped me out.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 20/06/2011 11:23
