New thread here ladies.

Again, many thanks to Frakk for the inspired title Smile

Do you think this thread will be the last ante-natal one for the April 11 crew? Or will I be the last one standing and having to start a new thread and talking to myself?! Hmm

Sadly no full moon magic here and no sign of a statistically likely Tuesday. MW in 5 hours and counting so I'm starting to get that ticking timebomb feeling. Am I being a wuss to make DH come with me?!

architien · 19/04/2011 05:52

I've been up since quarter to 4, nothing happening apart from SPD so I managed a bath and now happily sat here enjoying quarter of a pineapple :)

I think at this point it makes perfect sense to ask your DH to come along. We're in the bit of pregnancy when decisions tend to be made and exciting goings on happen. Not a wuss....sensible, besides it's his job (and honour) to be there if you feel you want him IMHO!

JustKeepSwimming · 19/04/2011 06:33

Agree Frak - get him to come too :)

Nothing doing here either, 40+2 now.
Up for loads of wees in the night and couldn't get comfy for long.
Woke at 4.50 for the last time, then just waited for DS2 to wake up - 5.40 so not too bad for him Hmm

Wonder if anyone (Bella?) did get a full moon baby?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/04/2011 09:21

Full moon, my arse.

Where are the babies? There certainly isn't one here!

I've been thinking about it and I think this baby is going to arrive about 3rd/4th May - so a few days after my EDD. Oh Lordy, 2 more weeks .......

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/04/2011 09:21

Also agree your dh should go with you Frakk Smile

SarahJinx · 19/04/2011 09:29

No action here either, except another shocking night of crap sleep like everyone else it seems. It's a combination of wees, not being able to get comfy, horrible SPD and now, not being able to switch off I think, feel like a bit of a cry might be in order.

My mum is coming today to 'do a bit round the house' which is lovely of her but I'd prefer her to sit and have coffee and cake and natters with me, she won't but I'll try. I can't do much at all, SPD is truly horrible - hips and pelvis not so bad, mine is all about the pubic bone.....Does anyone else also have an achey hurty bump?

I'm 39+2 today, MW on Thursday and I'm torn between wanting the baby safely out and here with me, and being terrified of not knowing what to do when he/she does arrive, so thinking you keep cooking in there little bun!

Right, off to tidy the house before my mum gets here to tidy the house, can't have her thinking am a complete sloven!

Happy Tuesdays all, legs uncrossed for a good day x.

MrsWajs · 19/04/2011 09:36

No full moon baby here either :( going for another walk with my mum today and probably will keep walking everyday from now on, 39+2 so not as bad as some of you still waiting but also getting very impatient!!

Have my friends hen do on saturday (if no baby by then) but no-one seems to think I'll make it!! Think that's maybe just wishful thinking on their part!! Knowing my luck I'll still be sat here on May 5th, moaning like buggery about being waaaay overdue, and I'll probably be on my own too :(

caramellokoalalover · 19/04/2011 09:37

And no full moon baby here either...40+2, tick, tick, tick, tick...

Only delivery happening this morning is Ocado...at least I'll have strawberries in an hour's time.

86cookie · 19/04/2011 10:01

hey ,
First time post on mumsnt.
i was feeling so sorry for myself before reading the posts, am due 22nd, and no signs of baby appearing soon.
would love some tips or advice on sidetracking myself!

kittycatcat · 19/04/2011 10:59

Welcome cookie

Just had my 38 week appt 38 +5 today. She's booked me in for a sweep a week today but I'm not holding my breath as some of you took 3 goes. Also booked in for 40 week appt which I obv hope I don't need. He's 3/5ths engaged app but she said he may not even engage fully until labour starts.

LisMcA · 19/04/2011 12:04

Busy yapping today girlies!! Thats more like it! Well I was hoping to come on here with some baby news but nope, and no one else took advantage of the full moon effect by the looks of it.

No sign of Lucie I see, me thinks there is another April babe out there!!

I went to bed last night at a reasonably normal 11. Feel asleep right away, then was wakened by the phone ringing at 2.15am by some drunk female Angry. She then phoned back 5 times, 5 TIMES. Eventually I came downstairs and unpluged the phone from the wall. Just plugged it back in and there are 3 messages from same drunk female asking for Dave to go pick her up! On a Monday night! Who gets into that state on a Monday night! Anyway, I have her number, do you think it would be mean to start calling her. She would definitely be sleeping of a massive hangover!!

Consultant appointment at 2, DH is coming with me because I'm terrible for just nodding and agreeing to anything with someone who has authority!

This is what I want to ask today:-
Options for induction to try to keep as active a labour as possible
What are the chances of me needing an assisted delivery if I am induced
Because of my SPD, I want to avoid anytime in stirrups, how does that fit with induction

If I go into natural labour, how long will I be left to labour before there is any sort of intervention by medical staff.
How do they normally manage labours with ladies with SPD.
The longer he is in there with me taking the painkillers, what potential harm am I doing him? Is he better out than in?

Hopefully most of that will be irrelevent as I'm getting a sweep today too and by this time tomorrow I'll be in full blown labour or be snuggling my baby :)

JustKeepSwimming · 19/04/2011 12:04

Hi Cookie :)

Well, maybe just maybe, i had a bit of a show this morning Shock probably just extra discharge as there's been nothing since, but if I can't share it with you lot who can i, lol?! Grin

LisMcA · 19/04/2011 12:13

ARGH!!! My sister (who lives with my mum) has just text and FBd me askign if I'd had the baby!! DO THEY NOT COMMUNICATE!!! Told her to f off and stop asking as it was making the baby want to stay in there.

architien · 19/04/2011 12:46

Lis I can see your concerns wrt to the balance between pain relief and time exposure vs. risks involved in induction. I think you are right to ask and make a decision from there. Although do keep in mind here in the UK induction risks are down-played quite a bit from what I can see. From what I understand, and I'm not a midwife so there is that disclaimer, there are different levels and types of induction available. You remember what the ladies above were saying about Bishop's score? Have a quick refresh of the info. Well that would help you balance up if the risk and extra intensity of pain would even work at this point. From what I'm reading it seems quite likely you'd need an epidural if induction is used, which will influence how you manage to make the best use of getting your pelvis in a position which allows maximum exit and least likely of damage needing stitches etc. I didn't know it the first time, since I've read that by following what position you body is telling you to take you can increase the opening by up to 30% compared to being in classic epidural pose on on back legs apart and/or on stirrups. I'm going to try to do that this time.

On the SPD issue, you must be firm about what you are comfortable with. As you know I've been cursed with it too and I'm thinking I'd rather not have the epidural if possible as I wouldn't be able to tell what position could do permanent damage as I wouldn't be able to feel it.

Sending you best wishes for the appointment. Big hug!

MrsWajs · 19/04/2011 13:01

Lis You should totally start phoning that girl back!!!! Eeejit she is!

I have a random guy from London who calls me on occassion (also looking for a Dave) but it's on my mobile, I tell him everytime he has the wrong number so he must have it stored wrongly on his phone!! Thankfully it's only ever been during the day!

I wonder do family members not think you'd be breaking your neck to tell them you'd had the baby after all this time waiting!! It's such a silly question...."have you had the baby yet?"......"Oh yeh I forgot to mention that, had it last week....!!" Not likely is it!!

Oooh JKS exciting news, hope it is a show! I still have no signs of impending labour whatsoever :( Off to walk to the garden centre for lunch and see if that does anything, it's a good 2 mile walk so fingers crossed!

LisMcA · 19/04/2011 13:14

Thanks Arch that really sums up what I'm thinking.

Better go now or I'll miss my appointmet!! Will report back.

86cookie · 19/04/2011 13:38

thanks for the welcomes!
i have been booked in for a sweep on thursday, but to be hionest not really feeling it !!!!
cleaning windows and scrubbing floors has been on my agenda today, hoping it will kick start something.
good news about your show just keep swimming, even if it is a ;little it all counts !!

LisMcA · 19/04/2011 15:25

:(:(:( Ladies, need you to pick me up please. Bishops score is only 2 :(, consultant cheerfully said at least it's better than 0 :(. She couldn't even do a sweep I'm so unfavourable, but did manage to stretch the neck of my womb a little(small positive).

No need to induce because of painkillers, risks of induction are far higher that the risks of the medication. Which is good i suppose.

She actively supports my want of an natural labour avoiding an epidural and as little intervention as possible, which is good. I have the Ina May opinion of evil doctors and their knives wanting to medicalise everything. But thats not the way it works here thankfully.

I don't even think I want to be induced now shes gone through all the risks associated with it.

In my notes she's put for CMW to attempt a stretch and sweep on Thursday and book for induction for 40+10/14.

I might not have my baby until May!!

JustKeepSwimming · 19/04/2011 16:06

Oh Lis ((hugs)) i know how depressing it can all feel. But i do know people at both extremes; told no luck with sweep only to have baby not long after & those told baby coming any minute to wait days after.
So there's always hope.
And tbh I think induction much earlier would be unwise, it always/nearly always seems to lead to such a cascade of other interventions.

Not sure this will cheer you up much but....the snot has definitely landed!! Grin
Only on MN!!

Am getting excited now, with DS1 show was followed by waters breaking & ctx starting about half an hour later, with DS2 it was about a day later, so I could still have some time to go but at least it's a sign!!!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/04/2011 16:42

How exciting JKS, keep us informed Smile

{{{Lis}}}, I know how shit it is. It was like that with my 1st too. I had a (very painful) sweep at 40 weeks and my cervix was doing zilch. I wasn't desperate to have the baby as such, but I was desperate to get my homebirth. However I did go in to spontaneous labour at 40+8. So in just 8 days my body and baby done it all itself.

It actually makes a change to see a Cons talking with some measure and thought, it probably doesn't feel like it right now, but you're lucky you've got her. Some Cons may have agreed to induce regardless of the consequences to you and the baby. Chin up, it will happen, no one is pregnant forever - although it does feel like it sometimes. We'll have May babies together Smile

frakyouveryverymuch · 19/04/2011 17:07

((( Lis )))) At least you know that the painkillers are okay and that should make the SPD more bearable.

JKS hurrah!!!! Fingers crossed for you Grin

Welcome to 86cookie - I see you're already into the sharing of far too much intimate information with complete strangers Wink

MrsW hope your walk to the garden centre does something :) and even if it doesn't you'll have had a nice lunch so there's some consolation

arch any progress after the hopeful signs?

caramello your delivery line made me smile! Hope you're enjoying your strawberries. Why can't they have labour inducing properties? Or raspberries? Or, y'know, anything except my least favourite fruit in the whole wide world?

Sarah hopefully you got coffee, cake and a natter as well as some cleaning. My mother is terribly practical as well but the advantage of her being on the other side of the world is that if I call her up she has to talk to me Grin

So I had an internal done today (hate them, bloody hate them) but MW was very nice and sensitive about it and said I didn't have to if I didn't want to. Result cervix is effaced, dilated to 1cm and she can feel the baby's head which I think is good? Scan had to be done twice as they weren't sure about fluid levels, but we seem to be fine and cord is high and free. Now onto 48 hour monitoring at the hospital so back there on Thursday! Also been prescribed prostglanding suppositories. I don't think so!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/04/2011 17:19

I would say your internal results are really pretty good Frakk, especially to be 1cm dilated for a first timer. Glad to hear the MW was sensitive as well Smile As you really hate internals and the results are favourable already, are you tempted to not have anymore?

Blimey I am hot today and the weather report looks like it's going to be staying around for the rest of the week. I'll have to dig out my summer maternity clothes and see what sort of shape they're in. I wore them to death last time so I don't hold out much hope for them.

SaltedPretzels · 19/04/2011 17:54

lmao Lis Call her, better still give her number to a double glazing company ha ha
As for all those annoying people who just can't stop calling to ask if we've dropped it yet. I have started saying yes and explained that the last twenty times they called I said I would tell them before I went to hospital when labour began and that they obviously didn't like that answer as they keep calling so I'm going to say yes until they give up!

Lucie We are hanging on to hear your news, you must must have had your baby, tell all! xx

Welcome Cookie BiscuitBrew Grin What part of the world are you from

41 weeks today and considering buying the website bored.com or whereismybaby.com
I'm booked in for a sweep tomorrow at 10.30am so fingers crossed. So far the past 8 days I've been out for a few miles hike each day with picnics with MIL or DH or both Smile.
We will continue with the walks, picnics, country houses, owl centres and every other distraction possible until something more than tightening happens.
41 weeks I feel like a whale Grin

Evening ladies

What a gorgeous day it's been? April (Early may..?) is a lovely time to be havng a baby I reckon.

Just wanted to give luck and hugs to all of you waiting-to-be/being induced, no talk of that at my end yet, but MW on thursday so maybe then?

I've had a few calls today Lis from a lady enquiring about my dyson, which I don't have, I told her this four times and still she calls.....can't not answer the phone in case of crazy relative thinking have gone into labour all over the floor.

So events of my day are this, mum came, cleaned the whole time except for two cups of coffee, love her but it's stressful, I just can't leave her to it, waddlng around after her picking up a few token things redfaced....

DP sent me to buy him some scales after packing on a bit of podge whilst I've been preggers - a stone, as have my male boss and my male assistant - I was on a get pregnant diet for nearly two years prior to this and have maybe gone a leeeettle bit crazy with the eatin' and spreading aroun d of the cake love whilst cooking this baby. anyway, of course I had to have a go on them and....3 and a half stone! I truly can't care either, I would've happily put on ten to get a baby but still a shocker! Then, the lady in the village shop said to me, 'still not popped then, my niece was like you you know, absolutely massive.....'

I asked for it I think.
