New thread here ladies.

Again, many thanks to Frakk for the inspired title Smile

Do you think this thread will be the last ante-natal one for the April 11 crew? Or will I be the last one standing and having to start a new thread and talking to myself?! Hmm

She said he will just put on fat now and I'll be very uncomfortable. Nothing sinister. Just the sooner the better which is fine by me :-) Same for everyone really tho.

kittycatcat · 26/04/2011 14:40

Everyones quiet today. Are you all off giving birth?

Leilababyno1 · 26/04/2011 15:04

Hi ladies!

I haven't been on this antenatal thread, but was lingering for a while.

I am 39+3 today, and looking forward to meeting my girl! Read that you have been chatting about sweeps. I am booked in for one at 40+4 with CMW if she hasn't arrived by then. The first of my NCT buddies has gone into labour today at 40+2 and didn't make her sweep appointment! Very exciting...

I have had all the usual symtoms, lots of BH and lost what I think was some of my plug on Friday night but nothing since. All has gone quiet!

It's just a waiting game!

Natzer · 26/04/2011 15:11

Hey Ladies, Baby April was born yesterday morning at 2.05 weighing in at 7lb 5oz. Slightly different delivery than expected but will put that on post natal thread.

Re: Epi No, I did use it, not as much as I should have done and only got up to 8cm. Ended up with 2 small stitches which arent bad at all, so it didnt make any difference for me. However, was expecting water birth which apparently helps soften the tissue, but didn't get one. Sad

Just got to get to grips with this feeding lark, all April wants to do is sleep. And im convinced these boobs don't work as they should! x

kittycatcat · 26/04/2011 15:22

Welcome leila

Congrats natzer beautiful name. Look forward to reading ur story.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/04/2011 15:59

Hi Leila, welcome to the April 11 thread Smile

Many congratulations on April Natzer. I didn't even think about using the birth month as name, how lovely Smile Remember your milk won't be in for a few days so don't expect to be flowing yet Smile

Just saw the MW and all is well. The head has engaged some more so only 2/5 palpable, which must be the result of all of the discomfort on Sunday. I also had a bit of a show on Sunday which I think I forgot to mention on here. I wasn't expecting it as I've only had them in established labour before. I'm hoping the next time I see her will be when I'm in labour, if not we've booked an appt where I might have a sweep done.

Kitty I too am a shortar$e (hence name!), so I wonder if I can use that at tomorrow's appointment? My lovely cleaner said to me this morning "I think you have a lazy boy in there who's just getting fat!" ha. We don't know what we're having, but my inkling is a boy, so who knows? It's certainly just biding its time and honing its chubby limbs!

Leila & ILTMM I am jealous about plugs. Said this before, but never have I been so keen for some bloody jelly to appear in my knick-knocks!!

Think I am going to treat myself to a snooze. Then I'm going to make a rhubard flan. Got given a load yesterday from MIL's garden. Anyone else got any decent rhubard recipes?

frakyouveryverymuch · 26/04/2011 16:08

Congratulations Natzer - beautiful (and appropriate!) name.

And belated congratulations to MrsW with another gorgeous name.

Looking forward to reading birth stories when you have the time.

I did some perineal massage and had a 2nd degree tear, but his head was flipping huge so not sure any amount would have helped....

Hope to hear from Karoleann soon.

ecuse I thought about induction a lot - pre-emptive worrying - but agreed a step-by-step approach with my MW. Basically it was pessaries fine, ARM if appropriate fine, synto no way - move to CS. Induction shortly after 41 weeks is standard here but for climatic reasons expectant management isn't really recommended. So FWIW in your shoes but my situation for baby's sake I would have induced. My mother never laboured naturally but I did spontaneously at 40+4 so there's hope!

Fingers crossed for everyone still waiting!

kittycatcat · 26/04/2011 16:16

littlemilla I'm 4ft11. At my last appt I grumbled that everyone keeps saying how huge I am. My response is that baby is the right size, I'm just short. That's when mw said that cos of my height I will become v uncomfortable as baby gains fat, and therefore ideally we don't want me to go over. Worth a try!

LisMcA · 26/04/2011 17:55

Hello Ladies! Congrats Natzer!

I'm still here, nothing doing again!! Had a lovely day out with DH. I must admit I found a sad satisfaction in telling everyone I'm 10 days late when they asked when I'm due! Their Shock faces made me giggle, although one waitress decided to tell me I didn't have the look of someone about to go into spontaneous labour. Not really sure what the look actually is, but I would have thought swollen of belly and big of breast would be a major part of it. Does your face change??

No one has mentioned to me about being short and over due, I'm 5ft. I've been measuring on the large side of average on all my scans too. Granted I am very uncomfortable, but I have been since 30 weeks.

DH is playing football tonight, so I'll be in on my own for a wee while later.

Have I missed an announcement from Salted??

Tinwe · 26/04/2011 18:08

Hi all! My baby Hazel arrived 2 weeks early so with a due date in May I haven't joined your antenatal club - can I join you now? Sorry I haven't read up on all previous posts, I'm hoping I can start from here.

Hazel is our first and I was told to expect her late so from spontaneous pop of my waters when I sat down (DH even heard it) to her arrival very quickly afterwards (4 hour labour in total), I think I was in shock! We only got married in December and moved at the end of March after a house renovation so the whole pregnancy and birth has been a whirlwind! All the best to those who are overdue - must be hard!

Petalouda · 26/04/2011 19:09

I'm still lurking around here (usually when BFing, which is the vast majority of my day!) - I've got a lot of sympathy for everyone feeling huge & uncomfortable. Although I'm not sure what I can say to help, in fact I'm probably one of the last people you want to hear from right now!

So I'll scuttle off again.... Grin

Hi Tinwe, congratulations on your little surprise! Hazel is a great name!

You're more than welcome here, although we do have a post-natal thread which people are slowly migrating to (come on April babies!).

frakyouveryverymuch · 26/04/2011 19:11

Tinwe come to postnatal!

Tinwe · 26/04/2011 20:08

Thanks Peta and Frakyou... See you over there :)

pineapple70 · 26/04/2011 20:24

OK,
Time for me to stop lurking. Am fed up and BIG - EDD was Saturday...
Have been eating lots of pineapples, curry on its way, keep doing loads of DIY and cleaning - bored with daytime TV.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

How many other people are still waiting???

LisMcA · 26/04/2011 20:52

Me! 40+10 today, induction booked for Thursday!

SarahJinx · 27/04/2011 09:12

And me, 40+2 today - good luck tomorrow Lis

architien · 27/04/2011 09:31

Hello, still here. Been trying out acupressure points, walking, bouncing, pineapple, curry, RLT, expressing milk, reflexology points, and husbandly attention. Still here. Week overdue now.

Congratulations for the new arrivals, hope to see you in postnatal before long.

Lis if I don't get a chance to pop on here later I just want to say I'll be thinking of you tomorrow......that is if it doesn't happen all on it's own today.
Fingers crossed :)

CountScoutula · 27/04/2011 09:36

40+7 and there's no signs that she's planning on budging. MW is going to do a sweep today, don't reckon it'll be successful... Booked in for induction on Saturday. MW tried to get it brought forward yesterday as I can't walk due to hip and bum pain, am not sleeping and I'm epileptic but she decided not to push it with them when they said they were thinking of changing date of induction to next Monday (40+12) Sad. So fed up of being pregnant. Good luck with your induction tomorrow, LisMcA

LittleMilla · 27/04/2011 09:51

Still here. Same as Sarah 40+2. Got MW appt this afternoon and will be begging for a sweep. Going for a stroll in a bit then some ball bouncing.

Can someone explain the bishop's score thing? Does this tell you how 'favourbale' your cervix is? BTW - hate that term so much, just makes me shudder!

Lis good luck tomorrow.

Kitty I am 5ft 1...they haven't mentioned anything about it thus far. Think it's cause I've measured bang on for my dates at every check-up. Hey-ho.

architien · 27/04/2011 10:28

Right ladies I'm really really pulling out all the stops and my aversion to alternative therapy type stuff (especially involving needles!) and I've just booked an acupuncture appointment for 2pm today. They say they have a high success rate (well they would wouldn't they..and only time will tell) and that most of his clients at this point go into spontaneous labour within 24 hours. Well a girl can try...let's see.

MrsWajs · 27/04/2011 10:29

Morning guys, just checking out of ante-natal and will see you all on the other side very soon, hope the wait isn't too unbearable for those of you still waiting and good luck to you all.xx

LittleMilla · 27/04/2011 10:31

arch I had accumpunture when I was depressed Hmm but haven't thought about it to bring on labour. It was good for me then, please keep us posted!

Sure that if it's successfull we'll all be looking to turn ourselves in to pin cushions!

x

LittleMilla · 27/04/2011 10:33

whoops...clearly meant to say ACCUPUNCTURE. Dodgy spelling!

bellastella · 27/04/2011 10:56

Hiya, I'm still here too at 40+9. I was freaked out by the midwife yesterday who thought baby might be breech! I do not need this right now! She still did a s&s though, after calling hosp to make sure she should. She isn't my usual one, I did rather notice the difference! I contacted my usual one and she's coming over tomorrow for another s&s and will send (force) me to a presentation scan if she thinks necessary. Urgh.

Plan currently is:
thur 40+10 s&s at home
sat 40+12 1/2 hr monitoring at hosp and s&s somewhere
mon 40+14 1/2 hr monitoring at hosp and s&s somewhere
tue 40+15 ARM in hosp
wed 40+16 in hosp choose between synto drip or elcs.

I soooooo want to go into labour.

littlemilla Bishops score measures cervical dilation, effacement, consistancy, position and fetal station. (you get 0/1/2 for each of the 5 catagories). Interpretations of the score vary. Some say a low score is a sign that you're not going into labour soon, low score may equal induction methods needed but also that they may not work. Oh the joy of variables!!
