I aggree with others, kloo you won't learn much more than books and mn tells you. Also if you do have your dc before then, you'll not have the same labour experience anyway ( ie you won't stay at home for stage 1 as you'll be rushed in as you'd be prem). I had Nhs ones and found them useless, they told the normal birth and hardly strayed from that! Bfeeding classes gave me confidence but your better off going to a bfeeding support group asap when the baby is here and even before that to get an idea of latch etc.

Hersetta · 04/05/2011 20:39

hope things are going well for you WIshwales.

Rugby - I am in Herts (Bishops Stortford) but will e havig DC2 at the Rosie in Cambridge. Where are you?

daisysair · 04/05/2011 21:14

littlemissw I'm going to go for a stretchy wrap to begin with (found one in red with white polka dots on it) and just a plain moby for OH and then take myself off to a sling meet to find a wrap/semi structured carrier as and when... have you checked out your local sling meet? Am meeting with my neighbour and her newborn tomorrow to check out the stretchy in action Grin

MrsStevo · 04/05/2011 21:26

Scan today went ok - slightly worryingly though one of the babies has much more amniotic fluid around it than the other again but not enough to panic about (yet!) They're having me in for TWO scans next week though to keep a close eye. Pesky babies aren't making this pregnancy a stress free one at ALL!

Just to clarify - we're started the NCT course earlier than your average bod as mine are very likely to be much earlier than your average baby! I have to say that I left last night wondering how on earth I was going to remember everything she said by the time they actually arrive!!

eviepoo - the baby jogger is just a dream in terms of lightness. I managed to one-handedly collapse it down and pull it back up the other day AND it steers like a dream. Obviously it will be heavier with both carrycots and babies in them but it is by far the lightest I've tried.

theonlyhb2 - YES! I'm going to the baby show! can't wait!! Not sure if I'll actually end up buying anything there as I imagine it will be quite expensive but I'm hoping to get lots of ideas.

capcarrie - thank you for the link to the baby mattress site! Until I make up my ridiculously changable mind about the actual cot we're getting though, mattress purchases are firmly on hold.

Annie456 - I finish work on the 27th May when I'll be not-quite 27 weeks but have 6 weeks annual leave to use up before I actually start mat leave. Our babies could arrive any time from now until then but FX they'll stay put until about 35 weeks!

I am in DH's bad books as he had a Twirl left from one of his easter eggs that he had been 'saving'... turns out it mysteriously disappeared this afternoon whilst he was at work. Oops! I blame the babies....... Grin

Eviepoo · 04/05/2011 21:36

Oh DH has a ripple in the fridge......sneaks of to the kitchen

SelinaDoula · 04/05/2011 21:42

(Littlemissw I will be 30+6 on the scan date. Quite excited, been told its a premium scan so I get a dvd of images a video, and a teddy etc!
Will post pics when I've been (3 weeks)

wishwales · 05/05/2011 08:22

Just a quick update for all of those that are following my saga and have been wishing me well (Thank you so much for that):

We will be 27 weeks tomorrow and baby is still holding on in there! I am still on strict bed rest in hospital in Cardiff and being a good girl. They have a cot ready for her in NICU and all we can do is be still and hope that she waits as long as possible to meet us - at LEAST another full week!

I had a pethidine shot the other night as I was contracting and it didn't seem as powerful as I have heard it described. It definitely made me sleepy but I didn't feel high as a kite!! That being said, I have been on very strong and prolonged painkillers at different points in my life for three Crohn's surgeries, so maybe I am a bit tolerant.

RugbyWidow7 · 05/05/2011 09:03

Keep going Wish, hang on in there!

Hersetta, we're Harpenden so going to the QE11 at Welwyn.

I've been inspired and am going to go to JL tomorrow to at least pick-up some clothes. I feel guilty buying anything major without DH there, as I want him to be included all the way along though not sure how bothered he is about being included. Wink Almost sorted out the carpet for the nursery yesterday, so I've at least made a start!

impatient1 · 05/05/2011 09:11

Great news wishwales Hang on in there baby girl x

aStarInStrangeways · 05/05/2011 09:22

Firawla I've got my GTT on Monday as well. More worried about FIL looking after DS for three hours, tbh Grin

wishwales glad to hear your little girl is staying put :)

Firawla · 05/05/2011 09:34

wishwales good to hear an update, glad your baby is still staying put
selina the scan sounds lovely, do u mind me asking hw much does it cost? i quite fancy having one but dh said no if its too expensive
star how old is your ds? im sure he will be fine. i'm gonna leave my 2 with mil, normally she has only had them one at a time but im sure it will be alright. my younger one (16 months) was not good @ all at being left with anyone but i am training him up a bit as he will have to get used to it now

aStarInStrangeways · 05/05/2011 09:36

DS is 2.6. I know he'll be fine - he likes his grandpa a lot, and FIL has done plenty of childrearing in his time. It's just that DS is still at the 'wailing whenever mummy leaves him someone' stage and I am a complete softy Blush He also refused to let my parents change his nappy when they looked after him during my last a/n appt, so I'm hoping he gets it all out of his system before FIL arrives!

MorningsMadness · 05/05/2011 11:08

So much to catch up on after only a few days of madness here!
Welcome newbies!
Annie , love that hilarious post and the names ... DD is Emily Rose and I love it but am now struggling for names for the soon to be twins girls as would love to have used Rose.
Wishwales - I just slept with pethidine too, no high and no extraordinary reaction.
MrsS , my fellow twinner, thinking about you lots and fingers and toes crossed for scans - they're doing great and so are you!
Nothing bought yet so you've stirred me up ... list making I am good at though so will start with that! (and maybe a leftover Easter egg as they seem to be vanishing in homes around the country tee hee)

SelinaDoula · 05/05/2011 11:49

Wishwales So glad to hear things are looking up for you and the baby
Firawla I think the basic scan is £90. I have actually one the Premier one (worth £160) which includes a DVD of images and a DVD video and some other bits and bobs (including a teddy lol) I would not have gone for one had I not won the competition though.

MrsStevo · 05/05/2011 11:53

wishwales lovely to hear from you, I have been thinking of you lots. So pleased your baby girl is still hanging in there. If she can make it to 28 weeks then, as my consultant put it, you can "crack open the champagne". We're aiming for 28 weeks and then everything after that is a bonus. But even at 27 weeks I'm sure your little girl will be fine, I am in total awe and amazement (is that a word?) of what the medical world can do for tiny people these days. You have my continued best wishes and good luck thoughts. Keep us posted when you can x x

Annie456 · 05/05/2011 12:39

Ah we havethe same taste in names morningsmadness, Unfortunately they are the only girls names I like so far so can't offer any suggestions for your twins!

KLou111 · 05/05/2011 13:12

Glad all is going OK wishwales, keep your legs crossed!!

Glad all OK in there MrsS and your little fighters are still fighting :)

Got our 4d scan on 21st, so excited, but looking to change it to 16th as is DH's birthday and he doesn't obviously want to be stuck in with my brother moaning about his leg lol! Booked ours here and have booked the 4d bonding scan with additional cd of photos, total £125. They don't ask for a deposit which is handy :)

Yukana · 05/05/2011 14:18

Hello all! It seems I have a lot of catching up to do. :) Welcome to the newcomers and congratulations on your pregnancies.

How is everyone? Wishwales My thoughts are with you and your little one I bet will be just fine. Fingers crossed everything goes well.

MrsS Glad to hear your little ones are still wriggling!

Everything is getting better I think on our front. We haven't found a place, but we went to CAB yesterday (I'm proud I went backache, swollen feet and all) and talked things out, getting a bit of advice. We're determined to sort this out and we'll get through.

Anu3 · 05/05/2011 14:24

Hello ladies!! Back from my gorgeous break in Greece (I hear the weather here in England has been just as lovely!) Hope you all had a good easter break too!

So i complete 27 weeks tomorrow and enter into my third Trimester! Exciting and scary at the same time!! My bump has grown the last 2 weeks and im being kicked to death everyday now - I love the feeling though :)

Have been reading about Antenatal classes and mine start on the 12th June (32nd week) - Hope thats not cutting it too fine! Still not done any shopping for the baby and felt a bit panicked when i read that you lot have hospital bags already!!! We are going to start shopping as soon as the nursery and our bedroom is repainted and carpets are changed (which is next week!).

I have a very very bad bout of Hay fever since ive come back home on Tuesday - I get it every summer but this time its so bad i havent had any sleep the last 2 days (pregnancy makes it worse apparently). Called my MW this morning and have been prescribed Piriton so hopefully that works! Id like to breathe a little bit and stop sneezing!

x

nickstermum · 05/05/2011 14:24

Wishwales... good news.... every day longer is another day less in NICU. Wishing you and your little baby girl all the best wishes in the world that she stays in there past 28 weeks xxx

Thinking of you xx

Firawla · 05/05/2011 15:37

oh selena you won it! i missed that. lucky you! maybe i will have to go enter some competitions then, you never know lol

FeralGirlCambs · 05/05/2011 15:55

Hello ladies - long time no contact, as I've been in Brittany for 2 weeks. No, not having a lovely relaxing holiday but doing crazy things like barrowing concrete around and painting off the top of tall ladders - but it was amazingly relaxing being away from real life (i.e computers and work) so I'm sure it was good for me. I don't know if I'll ever have time to read back through 2 weeks' worth of talk, so this is just a hello really... Hope everything goes ok, wishwales

RugbyWidow7 · 05/05/2011 18:12

Evie just realised we're due on the same date! Grin

MrsVidic · 06/05/2011 06:31

Morning ladies,

Wishwales well done for hanging in there! 6 more days and were 28 weeks!

Well it feels quite real now. Heartburn is raging, luckily I have prescribed stuff which works a treat! I also keep getting a dead leg due to baby lying on my sciatic nerve! Oh the joys!

Did anyone watch the human body programme last night! It was amazing to see how babies are made!

I'm getting worried I'm not organised at all for the arrival so Dp is taking 2 weeks annual leave to sort it all next week! If he ends up watching football for the duration of it ill kill him!

daisysair · 06/05/2011 08:04

Mrs V Yes we watched the human body prog. Didn't it make you feel amazingly lucky to be pregnant?? my DH took a week off in April to do the bathroom, but we're saving the rest for when babes is here (bout 3 weeks i think) have you got a list of things you want sorting??
