Raspberry leaf Brew and Biscuit all round.

Continuation from here. No Mofo C bombs yet been dropped in the delivery room although our first 2 babies have arrived. Congrats to gormers and Jo, we hope your little ones are still doing great.

ecuse I'm so wishing I didn't look at that thread. Really hoping I'm not having a boy. And sorely tempted to wake up DP and grill him about socks.

Am still up waiting for DD to get back to sleep. Had every excuse under the sun. Too hot, too cold, too tired, too many bogeys to sleep. I'll just cheer all you first timers up with the thought that the sleepless nights are an intermittent feature for years not months.

JustKeepSwimming · 06/04/2011 08:13

Thaney - Congratulations :)

No news from this end, managed to get through orchestra last night. DS1 has a half day of school today, DS2 finished tomorrow, then it's all systems go as far as I'm concerned :)

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 06/04/2011 08:44

Great thread link ecuse Smile, am looking forward to dealing with the wanksocks already. Shock

I hope dd went to sleep eventually Jaylar, there must be something in the air, ds was up early and woke a few times in the night. He has started wailing in his sleep, which wakes dh and I up in a panic, but he's fast asleep Hmm

nann - don't be too disheartened by the sweep. With ds2 my cervix was doing nada at 3.30am, ds2 was born 5 hours later. I know it's not the same for everyone, but it does mean that things can change very quickly.

Glad you're feeling better Ali, the early days are like a rollercoaster aren't they? Hopefully your nipps feel better today, you forget that even though you know what you're doing, it's all new to the baby!

Hosting a coffee morning today. You never know if 2 or 12 people are going to turn up - I'm hoping it's more like 2 as I can't be arsed with a house full Blush

Daisy17 · 06/04/2011 09:25

Hey all, have been lurking but not typing, the conversation runs too fast for my maternity leave brain to keep up! Grin So exciting to read about all the babies..... CONGRATS all! Smile

Due date today, no signs yet though, reckon baby is going to be a little late, but not feeling too stressed about it. Midwife this afternoon for 40 week appointment - is she likely to do a sweep today or just book one in for later? Am feeling stupidly worried about showing her my bump - I was creeping to the loo the other night, and something on the floor was stopping the door opening - I thought, oh well, I'll just squeeze through.....result, one deep scrape right across the top of my bump! Shock Drew blood and everything, it really hurt.... Bean didn't react at all but I went into a completely irrational panic ....... bad mother already!! Grin

ecuse great link, although having an older brother, having been at a mixed boarding school and now teaching at a boys' school, nothing much surprises me.....my rather mundane reaction was, surely most things are best washed inside out anyway as that is the side that has been next to the smelly feet or armpit or whatever? My DP and I share laundry duties but he has always presented everything inside out for that reason and his logic seemed impeccable!!

architien · 06/04/2011 09:42

Thaney welcome Amelia to the world and I hope you get moments of rest to recover :)

ecuse had a lovely conversation over breakfast with husband in reference to the thread you sent over, Oh God.......we looked at each other in horror at the thought our cute little blonde-hair innocent Fraser in his chair next to us in a few years time may have this erm habit. I'm resolved to buy a laundry bag and get his to put their socks directly in the bag and then they put the bag in the washing machine themselves. I just don't want to know or have that awful conversation. Confused

I just called the number the midwife gave me to get the time for the equipment delivery time, as directed the other day to get the fantastic news that they've had the date changed recently to sunday instead of today. I just called the midwife and she said I must be mixed up, then checked her notes and agreed it was meant to be today, but she said she will only be oncall once equipment is delivered and she has had a stand alone appointment to check the equipment onsite. She said she will try and get out the following week. Looks like I will only get a midwife for 2 instead of 4 weeks cover now. My goodness with all this uncertainty I will probably go overdue now anyway. Interestingly though the local community midwife team were due to come this afternoon for tea and biscuits as an introduction and the back up team (next team further out) told me they wanted to come out for the same on Friday. I asked if we should hold off (I actually agreed at the time as it didn't seem optional but to be honest I think it's a bit of a waste of precious NHS time...ok and I'm not up to doing my mostest as an afternoon hostess just now). They still want to go ahead with them coming this afternoon and friday.

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 06/04/2011 10:50

Congratulations Thaney and snuggled for your gorgeous little one.

petal console yourself with the thought that night feeding is better for supply so your little man is doing you a favour :)

Is that thread the one with the revelation of a knitted wank mitten? Can't open it now but if it is it made me laugh for hours!!

Still waiting here - had a bit of brownish discharge last night that I thought might be the start of a show which sent me into a total tailspin, went into work this morning to be told I'd taught too many hours this year (not my fault! I don't do the timetabling!) and thence to Bodybalance. Yea or nay to exercise speeding up the exiting?! I'm hoping it'll make me more able to cope with labour but I wonder if it'll bring it on faster?

chillikat · 06/04/2011 11:34

Thanks for the laculose advice everyone. Midwife also recommended so DH has been out this morning for some and I'm now waiting for it to kick in - hopefully soon, but not in the middle of a feed!
Petalouda isn't it fun being awake all night! Though last night was a pretty good one for me - feed, then sleep. Not so much fun for DH who has taken charge of nappy changing who also had to so two outfit and bedding changes in the night.
I really should head over to the post-natal thread to add my birth story soon.

BeetleBaby · 06/04/2011 11:44

Thaney Congratulations!

Jo I'm so pleased that you've got Conor home and hope you're getting lots of snuggles in.

Ecuse thanks for that...I'm now hoping that Little Insect is a girl! Always thought boys were weird! Wink Grin

Midwife yesterday and am booked for a sweep next Tuesday and will be booked for induction for the following week if nothing happens. I was pretty miserable at the prospect of induction last night because I really want to use the MLU rather than delivery ward but fingers crossed things get moving. I've had strong period type pains since 6am but no 'pattern' as such just constant aching in my back and bump. MW did suggest I use my TENS machine on my hips/pelvis (why I didn't think of this I do not know) and I'm converted! It was so nice to go to bed and get to sleep without the usual pain!

DH is driving me crackers at the moment. He keeps complaining that he's bored and impatient and doesn't want to go to work 'just in case', yeah because I'm not impatient and miserable being pregnant. He also steals the sofa and falls asleep, but the sofa is MY nap spot of choice Angry.

Suffice to say he was all bar shoved out the door to work this morning with much downplaying of any pains I was having just so I could get some peace and quite (and nap on the sofa)!

lucielooo · 06/04/2011 13:04

Congratulations Thaney :) Amelia is a beautiful name! Hope you're both doing well

Off to weed/tidy the garden in the sunshine now in the hope that some activity will get baby thinking about coming out.. busy days definitely make me feel more like baby is going to come sooner - do you think there's any truth in that? Anyway all that squatting to weed can't hurt can it.

All these period pains are sounding good April ladies - Fingers (but not knees) crossed!

LisMcA · 06/04/2011 13:05

Hello ladies!

Another crap night here, slept for 4 hours then woke with horrendous heartburn, even after taking my ranitidine. So up I got, skoof of Gaviscon, nada, 4 pints of milk, nada, some cheesy oakcakes (going on the basis that heartburn was hunger related), nada. I eventually made myself sick and got some relief, not much but enough to get back to sleep at 7am.

I've also discovered a weird bump rash under one of my arms. It's red and raised, but not itchy. First thing I thought was " I have shingles" slight over reation from me there i think!!

Reflexologist has just been! She has balanced out my hormones apparently! Priming me for birth! Buster was going mental during the treatment, so I believe she was doing something to do with that area as he usually goes to sleep!

Going to go have a bath I think, then a little snooze! Might aswell! I've got nothing else to do!

1stTimeMother · 06/04/2011 13:17

Just been waxed to within an inch of my life so ready to rock'n'roll... although still 2 1/1 weeks to go so possibly i'll have nice regrowth just in time. Oh well, I feel a lot better & can get the legs out in the sun. Now for a pedicure.....

AussieMum2Be · 06/04/2011 14:01

Chilli Got a bone to pick with you, you gave us that yummy cookies recipe and the batch i made to freeze for after little-un's arrival has now all been eaten and basically, eaten all by me !!!! Im sure that much sugar isnt good for me, but its so hard to care when im munching on those yummy freshly baked cookies !! You gotta sandwich 2 with vanilla ice-cream, pure heaven !!

Already picked up choc chips for the batch im gonna make this weekend which has to go in the freezer !!

LisMcA I was also feeling over being pregnant last night due to be so un-comfy, when DP told me not long and lovely little baby soon, I told him I dont care, i just dont want to be pregnant anymore and then I felt extreme guilt, burst into tears and talked to bump to tell her i didnt mean it and she can make me as un-comfy as she wants.

Caramello I think my profile accepts messages, try me out ! Where in Sydney r u from ?

Justkeepswimming Im besides nesting also doing loads of non-related baby stuff, re-decorating house, buying new bins, buying new wardrobes & curtains, apparently I must think this matters to my new baby ! lol

Petal & Liv Thanks for your birthing stories, they were a good reality check, a little scary but not enough to get me running for the hills !

Ulysses Huge Congrats to you and little Anna, all new mums update your details on the stats list, i love seeing when people where due and then when they had their babies and if it was 1st, 2nd, etc. makes me feel like i can predict my due date.

Ali Hope your feeling much better

Sats Hopefully your cat comes home soon, ill keep my fingers crossed, i love my cats and would feel the same way.

Joew Hooray for little Connor coming home

MrsWajs Thats is a lovely bump you have !

Iliketomove Yum, Yum, yuo got my craving Victoria sponge, hopefully that might ween me off Chilli's choc chip cookies !

Thaney Congratulations, I love the name Amelia, very pretty !

and finally Daisy Happy EDD, hopefully not long now.

We havent heard from Cycle so its hopefully all systems go for her and we get another baby annoucement soon ! Ive been so un-comfy, my fanjo aches, my hips and inner thighs ache, my back aches and it feels like the baby is either doing a hand-stand with her 2 legs pushing on eitherside of my upper tummy or she is lying across stretched out, either way, she's blocking my lungs and im out of breath even sitting down doing nothing !!

I was in homebase and some grumpy looking lady looked me up and down and said "BOY" and walked off, i was really annoyed that she reckons my little girl looks like a boy, DP had to calm me down saying its not like she saying the baby looks like a boy darling, i consoled myself by talking to bump and telling her she's a beautiful little girl, prettiest ive ever seen !! My DP thinks im slowly losing the plot in this last week of pregnancy, maybe I should have taken this week off !! ha ha. Oh well, only 2 more days of work left !! Hooray

So from the already due ladies, how long after EDD do they do a sweep ?

Enjoy the sun anyone who has access to it ! Might go Hyde Park on my lunchbreak, its so lovely !!

chillikat · 06/04/2011 15:23

Sorry Aussie - they're good aren't they :o

chillikat · 06/04/2011 17:02

Ahh - lactulose is your friend. It did its thing and I feel so much better. I think I can concentrate on re-sorting baby clothes, writing birth story for the post-natal thread, thank you cards for midwives and a whole host of other things now. I think I might feel human now :o

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 06/04/2011 17:29

Lol Chilli, the first post-partum poo is somewhat of an event and good to get past isn't it?!

The coffee morning was MANIC. I'm hosting another one on Friday, but then that's it for me being the host until July.

DS and spent a lovely time in the garden this afternoon - until he decided to wee and poo in his pants. Jeez, he just WILL NOT stop what he's doing to go to the toilet, it is driving me MAD.

Lots of caps there, sorry!

Frakk has been very quiet. Do you think the reunion with dh is going well? Grin I think they might be trying out some natural induction methods. No doubt she'll be on in a minute saying 'no we're bloody not, I can't be arsed!'

I think different MW's offer sweeps at different gestation times Aussie. Some at 40 weeks, some a few days later. I think it depends on what their particular guidelines are.

I'm loving this sun, but I'm nearly overheating. I'm glad I've got some summer maternity gear from ds2 if it carrys on like this - and only a few weeks ago people were talking about buying snowsuits, this country's weather is mad.

LisMcA · 06/04/2011 17:42

Sunshine here, but it's still cold! I had to put the heating on again this morning!

My MW said she'll do a sweep for me next week, I'll be 39+5, if my cervix is favourable.

Last 2 loads of baby washing done! I love the smell of my non-bio washing liquid! It's my baby smell I think!

After my last post I did something to my hip by turning too quickly. It bloody hurts and pain killers aren't working. It's like its popped out of place. I'm having to sort of shuffle/moonwalk around the house. I must look quite funny!

NotAnotherNewNappy · 06/04/2011 18:02

So much for my MW's prediction after yesterday's sweep...

I had a baby girl, Rosina Elsie 7lb 5oz at 12.37pm this afternoon! Smile Details to come x

LisMcA · 06/04/2011 18:29

Congratulations NANN what do these so called Midwives know anyway!!

Do we have more girls than boys now??

LisMcA · 06/04/2011 18:33

Thread has been quite quiet today. Who else is off having a baby?

Roll Call Please!!

JustKeepSwimming · 06/04/2011 18:42

NANN - Congratulations!! & have to laugh at MW being quite so far off!

I really want some signs of imminent labour now Envy but only 38+3 so need to develop some patience. Esp with DC & DH as losing my rag a few times recently.

JenAT · 06/04/2011 18:45

Yey NotAnother wonderful news! congratulations on the birth of Rosina Elsie, looking forward to hearing your birth story. Gives me hope that my sweep tomorrow may get things moving. Will be term plus 3 and totally had enough of being pregnant now.

ILTMIMI sounds like you have been busy with your coffee morning, bet you are feeling shattered. My nephew sounds just like your ds. He can wee and poo on the toilet but just can't be bothered if he is occupied and playing especially if he is playing with his trains. I'm sure it will happen, and you've got enough on your plate at the moment without stressing about potty training. I'm really glad I left it with dd until she was ready and didn't try when all her peers were being trained. i think girls are probably easier than boys anyway.

Sats any news on your cat? We have 2 kitties about 12yrs old (Agnes and Sybil) both from a rescue centre. I love them so much and would be devastated if one of them went missing

Chilli glad you are now feeling so much better after lightening the load so to speak! To change the subject, I am feeling the need to bake to occupy myself so will try your cookie recipe. I also have some banana's past their best so a good excuse to make Nigel Slaters black banana bread, its so yummy.

ecuse that thread, good god. Wank socks, ewww.

Aussie i can't believe you are still working right up to your due date. Hope you enjoyed your lunch in Hyde park.

Still no news from cycle...

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 06/04/2011 18:54

Another baby Grin congratulations Nann and hello Rosina. Can't wait to hear your birth story Smile

Thanks JenAt, at times like this afternoon I really do wonder why I bothered potty training when heavily pregnant, I should have left it.

Ouch Lis, do you think you might need to see an Osteopath or Physio?

kitstwins · 06/04/2011 18:59

Congrats to Notanother fab news and just goes to show we can't read anything into these so-called favourable/non-favourable signs. My sweep has done sod all. Due date today and I'm totally bored. Still enjoying being pregnant and it's not that I'm in discomfort or anything it's just that I've got a c section hanging over me - one more week to get this baby out before they step in with their sharp knives. I'm sure fretting about it doesn't help things but I'm not sure how to take the knowledge out of my head.

Cycle is definitely in the throes...

beckie90 · 06/04/2011 19:06
