okay I can do the signing off but then I'd have to find out what i am everyday and face reality!!!!LOL
ei, its a huge overmantle, you know normal mantle piece and huge shelf/frame around old mirror above it. it was fifty layers of white gloss(!!!) but is now wood and will be stained a dark wood colour (well its already dark) to match rest of sitting room wooden stuff. and jays -thats exactly why I had to get it done NOW. must be up for christmas and ready to hang stockings on!

OP posts:
ei23monster · 26/10/2005 01:09

i always seem to overspend so this year im stickin to a rigid budjet

OP posts:
dramaqueen72 · 26/10/2005 01:13

thats the only way. I'm doing pretty well with our budget. dh is a strict budget person for this kinda thing, so i have to show him what i bought for what.
found making gifts, or at least putting them together, has helped with costs.
my MIL for example cant ever seem to sleep, so I ahve made her a gift box of things for when shes up in the night; hot chocolate, crossword book, pen, bed socks, herbal tea.....that kind of thing.
just finshed FIl's gift, a mini scrapbook of the ten things the children love most about grandad, complete with photos and the children handwritten thoughts. no point in buying him anything as he has it all already LOL, so had to make his!!
I'm useless at budgeting for the children and dh tho...always get carried away

ei23monster · 26/10/2005 01:16

that sounds like you have put alot of thought into those prezzies! i always seem to impulse buy which sends my budget off spirallin outa control! iv told everyone this year tho its little gifts rather than big expensive ones! we jus cant afford it this year!!

OP posts:
dramaqueen72 · 26/10/2005 01:19

join the club! nice gifts are really important to me, its so the thought that counts with me. its my martha stewart streak coming out!
and anyhow the quicker i get them all done the more time and (dh's!) money I'll have for the baby! how are you doing with the babys thngs/room?

ei23monster · 26/10/2005 01:26

Blimey ei - you were up late!!!

Well, not a very bust day here today. The office should be quiet so I'll be in revision mode - please don't chat too much or else I won't get any done

DQ, your fireplace sounds lovely - well done for getting it done. Now if you fancy popping round to mine and papering my bedroom that would be nice

The meet is still on - I'm going to book it today (I promise). I'll post on the thread when it's done - they don't open until lunchtime.

Flutterbee - sorry to hear you have to have another glucose test. Mine was so painful, I had a bruise all over my arm afterwards where they punchtured my vein so I really feel for you having to have it done again!!!

george32 · 26/10/2005 09:52

Flutter, you poor thing having the glucose test again - another long wait for you.
Haven't had my results back yet but my mom attacked me with her sugar level testing kit (she is diabetic rather than just a crazy woman!) and she has declared my level fine - a lot quicker & easier than going to the hospital and, hopefully, just as accurate. Will probably get the official result from the mw tomorrow.

How long til your exam now SH? My head seems to think its Dec but surely that is too close to you giving birth.

DQ, your presents sound wonderful. Your family are so lucky. I think I might have to start making my Christmas list soon.

Having a lazyish day today I think after my cleaning frenzy yesterday (I think DP thought he had come into someone elses house!)
I've been at home for nearly 2 wks now & still no daytime telly !!!

george32 · 26/10/2005 09:53

Durr preggie brain!!!

sweetheart · 26/10/2005 10:08

george - yes my exam is in december. I'm due on the 4th and my exam is the 7th nothing quite like cutting it fine is there I must be mad!!!

scully · 26/10/2005 10:16

So sh if you're early, or even on time, will you still do the exam?
Question for you all, do you think I'm being unreasonable by telling dh that I don't want his friend to come and stay for Fri and Sat, but just one night rather. The last few times he's stayed over, they just stay up drinking, making a mess and playing music, so I can't sit in the kitchen or lounge and basically have to go upstairs. I'll do that one night, but not two, & have my whole weekend taken over by them watching cricket in the lounge during the day dh didn't like it v much when I said this last night, but calmed down after a few hours. I feel a bit mean as I don't usually like saying no to entertaining but I think with dd & working fulltime and having 7wks to go, I need a bit of peace at some point on the weekend?
I must have got a lot bigger recently, as I@m getting some funny looks now getting to and from work, quite amusing really

sweetheart · 26/10/2005 10:29

scully - I will do whatever possible to sit the exam, even if I have to sit it in the early stages of labour. One woman actually did just that last year - she went straight to hospital from the exam and had the baby 1 hour later It's a re-sit and I really don't want to miss it as it's my last exam I have to pass to fully qualify!!!!

I think you are perfectly within your rights to say only 1 night and I think your dh is being a little unfair to say you are being unreasonable. You are currently heavily pregnant and working full time and he is not (thats right isn't it - he's currently out of work????!!!!) you need your weekends to relax and recharge your batteries, not sit around watching people get drunk and clearing up after them!

dramaqueen72 · 26/10/2005 10:30

morning ladies
scully, no that sounds fine to me!! you tell him to come and see us dec ladies if he doesnt agree!!
s/h yes ei and I were up late!!! mad isnt it!
ei- I am about 3/4 way thro baby things I think. big things still to sort out, like blinds, chest of drawers, cot (tho ordered now) birthing pool, .okay lets stop the list or I may have a freak at dh today!
sorry s/h, do you need me to help out in anyway with teh meet up things? you seem to be lumbered with it, not intentional at all, if you need a hand just shout. I hope everyone can still come, or it could just be me and you in the bar
assuming you dont have that baby by then! I'll be on tenterhooks around you!!
nemo, hows today hun? and ninah?

dramaqueen72 · 26/10/2005 10:31

duh sorry, 31+3

sweetheart · 26/10/2005 10:34

lol DQ - Don't worry - I'm sure this baby will come on the 7th. It's my sisters birthday AND I have my exam that day - it's sods law.

There isn't really anything to organise for the meet up - other than booking the restaurant which I have been crap at - but I PROMISE it will be done today

I might put a water balloon up my skirt at the meet, just so I can pretend my waters have gone and freak you out DQ - ha ha, that would be sooooo funny

sweetheart · 26/10/2005 10:34

oooopppssss, 34 + 3

dramaqueen72 · 26/10/2005 10:36
