Executive decision that at 987 posts we're moving over!

New challenge - can we fill up 1000 posts before the first babies arrive, given that we managed to keep our legs crossed all through the last one?!

First babies are due, officially, next month but are there any in such a hurry to see the world that they can beat our chatting?

Ha! I reckon it's both, with a third option of it being a distraction technique from the actual labour itself, i.e nicely organised bag means nicely straightforward, organised labour.... and it defo makes me feel better MK, I felt like a small, unprepared child whilst packing, was thinking jeez, if even doing this is complicated, how can I ever expect to cope with the squeezing out?!

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 14/03/2011 14:36

What's your essay on stuffed? We can procrastinate together!

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 14/03/2011 14:37

I have a sort of labour carrier bag with things thrown in at random.

I still need to get tons of stuff!

I have written my intro today, yey me Confused

stuffedmk · 14/03/2011 14:48

those

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 14/03/2011 14:51

I'll swap you for a research proposal where I don't know what I'm actually researching yet?

OP posts:
stuffedmk · 14/03/2011 14:52

Deadly dull and I haven't done all the reading so am kind of winging it Blush
I only need about another 2,300 words Sad Really it isn't that much but when you have no idea what you are talking about apart from personal opinion which is useless without references etc it seems like a mighty big task lol

stuffedmk · 14/03/2011 14:54

Hmmmmm I dunno at least you have a blank canvas to start from. Research the stupid things pregnant women take on thinking it would be a good idea then sit procrastinating about when they realise how stupid it was lol

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 14/03/2011 14:54

What readings do you have to do? Can you skim and copy out relevant quotes?

I usually brainstorm and then look for people to support my point of view when I'm stuck. I figure I'm unlikely to come up with anything ground breaking and usually people help me even more by telling me who they disagree with, which gives at least another 250 words per bullet point on what they said and why they're wrong.

Do you have a plan?

OP posts:
stuffedmk · 14/03/2011 14:55

I used to like archaeology Hmm

stuffedmk · 14/03/2011 14:56

I have a 'in my head' plan lol

stuffedmk · 14/03/2011 14:59

I am quite good at skim reading to find relevant stuff, although I am sure I will get caught out one of these days lol
I just don't have the motivation with this course as it's soooooooo dull!

It needs writing by Friday so I expect I will only really get into it by Wednesday when I absolutely have no more time left, that's always when I do my best work (I'm the one who always used to do her homework on the bus on the way to school lol)

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 14/03/2011 15:00

I have lots of in my head plans! Nah, the reason I ask is because I often find writing a plan takes out another hundred words or so, which can be subdivided and expanded on until you have a few more.

I'm an incremental essay writer rather than a freestyler!

OP posts:
SnapFrakkleAndPop · 14/03/2011 15:01

I'm with you there. I'm not even thinking about this research proposal because it's not due until the 30th of March. Of course the fact that I could well go into labour before then is a consideration but I have 2 weeks and that's nowhere near enough pressure!

OP posts:
stuffedmk · 14/03/2011 15:08

SJ You could be right about the third option, I have suddenly started to get a bit nervous about the whole thing, not knowing when it's all going to kick off, even worrying I won't know if it's labour or BHs lol. You'd think having done it before I wouldn't worry about such things but I never felt any BHs with DS1 and despite not seeing a show and my waters only breaking 20 mins before he was born I didn't have any false alarms I just went into labour and that was that. This one has been sooooo different that I don't feel so confident, every twinge gets me wondering.

stuffedmk · 14/03/2011 15:12

Frak I always do my intro and conclusion before I start the rest, then freestyle it from there lol, I can always change the conclusion if my freestyling takes me somewhere unexpected but it gives me a better idea of where to go if you see what I mean lol.
I admit, I wouldn't be that upset if baby decided to make an appearance before I got it done so I'd have a reason to have not done it Blush

JustKeepSwimming · 14/03/2011 15:12

Nothing as big as an essay here, but I have a 20min presentation for my BF course to do for next Mon.
I have finally decided on a topic Grin
"A guide to milk donation to milk banks for premature babies"

Now just to decide what to say & how to present it...

stuffedmk · 14/03/2011 15:23

Next Monday...that's ages away lol

Sounds like it should be an interesting talk though :)

stuffedmk · 14/03/2011 15:26

Actually I'm not sure I want to get this done too soon, that will be the end of the course and I'll have nothing to think about but giving birth, maybe the longer I can keep 'planning' this the better Wink

Petalouda · 14/03/2011 15:56

can I chip in with the essay talk?!

I always write the main body first, and do the intro last. Is that really abnormal?! I even recommend it to my students! Grin

JKS - I've asked my MW about milk donation - DH has PKU, so the baby might also, which would mean I wouldn't be able to breast feed. So I thought about donating, and asked about it, and they didn't know anything about it.

Why do people find other-human milk weirder than other-species milk? I don't understand it! (like the the breast milk ice cream and then it being banned - how can people object to human milk in preference to bovine milk?!!)

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 14/03/2011 16:01

I top and tail mine too.

Hello! Quick update from me before I go incommunicado for a few days. We are heading north for a few days.

Thank you for all your thoughts and wishes. FIL has not had a heart attack, but they need to find out what it is so he's still in hospital. Most likely thing they are saying is a urine infection Hmm which seems to be an all encompassing condition as that is what they are saying my grandma has too! It's a relief to know it's not another heart attack (he had a massive one about 10 years ago), but with his other illnesses we don't know how things are going to pan out.

Petalouda · 14/03/2011 16:04

Glad things are looking up Lis, hope things just keep on getting better.

Take it easy on your trip. x

kittycatcat · 14/03/2011 16:05

Hi all

Lis so sorry to hear about your Grandma and FIL. Big hugs.

Lucieloo i get a sore bump too. If i stand too much or do too much. Is it a BH?

Saturday i collected a bundle of gorgeous clothes from my cousin. Looks like kitten is set for hand me downs as his cous now. It's all lovely and in fab condition. Also got a bouncer chair. And DH / FIL and MIL spent the weekend decorating the nursery. Painting is done now. Carpets coming Wed so i have a day off. Lovely. then DH can start building the furniture. :) SO exciting.

Hosp bag is packed but stil short of a couple of nighties. Bought myself a lovely halter tankini in Gap on Fri in the hope of a pool birth.

Very Envy of those of you further along. I am 33 +4.

chipsahoynicki · 14/03/2011 16:05
