Kate you said exactly what I have been thinking.

BB the beshlove will be here whenever you need it. I know it can't help much right now, but it is here...

laurielou · 09/02/2011 08:19

Oh BB I'm so, so sorry to see this Sad. We're all around in some ESH form or another for you. Much love to you & Mr B.

Kate very wise words indeed.

Medee · 09/02/2011 08:32

well said, Kate. Thinking of you again this morning, BB.

Casserole · 09/02/2011 08:41

You know my heart already lovely BB.
Am still weeping for you this morning, and candle still burning.
Lots of love xxx

Muser · 09/02/2011 08:51

Very well said Kate. Counting my blessings here. We are all so very lucky.

BarbiesBeaver · 09/02/2011 10:56

Thanks lovely ESH all of you. Yes, hug those bumps and babies extra tight. Thankfully the odds are in the favour of the positive - most pregnancies proceed along fine. I hope all of you have safe and healthy pregnancies, and the births you want. Reading all the messages has helped a lot.

Scorpette · 09/02/2011 11:11

BB, you are so wise and gracious. Am indeed counting my blessings. I have been crying for you, my lovely; I just wish there was something - anything - we could do for you. You have all our love and best wishes. I hope you are taking it easy today and looking after yourself well. Biggest hugs

Ariesgirl · 09/02/2011 12:23

You are an awesome (in the truest sense of the word) person Barbs. I admire you massively, but you already knew that

I have posted a boobs question in Conception, if any of your would like to contribute. Your knowledge that is rather than your boobs. Though now I come to mention it....It's called Boobs.

Ariesgirl · 09/02/2011 12:40

Thanks GeeGee!

PerfectDromedary · 09/02/2011 12:45

Barbs I'm heart-broken for you and in total awe at your courage. Take care of yourself, love.

Ries You are obsessed with boobies. Honestly.

I went for a growth scan yesterday. Am having a giant monster baby - currently measuring 10lb 4oz. Have to work out new plans for birth, as hippified lavender birthing centre can't take me. Also have to stop googling. Wish me luck and a baby who decides that running out of space is shite and comes early?

CluckyKate · 09/02/2011 12:51

Good lord Drom - that's one big baby....in fact possibly the biggest ESH baby yet. Well done Grin

Muser · 09/02/2011 12:57

Oh gosh Drom, that sounds huge. But I'm sure I've read threads around here where people have had growth scans saying they have a mahoosive baby and then have had dainty 7lbers.

Hope Berwhale gets a move on though. Maybe we should rename it Berminnow in the hope it helps it be a little smaller?

LadyGoneGaga · 09/02/2011 12:58

BB you are being so strong and brave. You so deserve to be a Mother. Thinking of you both xxx

LadyGoneGaga · 09/02/2011 12:58

Drom don't panic. Growth scans are notoriously unreliable. The one I had at 37 weeks with MiniG suggested he was going to be some kind of monster baby. in the event he was a sensibly sized 8lb2oz and arrived day after his due date. Take with a pinch of salt, they are often way out.

Will the birthing centre really not take you? Other option is to birth at home?

I read that it's not so much the size of the baby as the position and actually bigger babies can be easier to birth as they are stronger and better able to do the wriggling they have to do to come out. Also bigger babies are more content, can go longer between feedings, do things earlier - lots of advantages.

Read up on some Ina May about birthing big babies. She seems pretty encouraging.

milanomum · 09/02/2011 13:00

kate Wise words.

Oh drom! I have a theory that they can't really predict the size of babies at all. Loads of my friends were told they were having giant-sized babies but they turned out to be normal 8-9lb-ers.
Why can't the birth centre take you?

rocketleaf · 09/02/2011 13:01

BB you are amazing, I know you probably don't feel like it, but you are.

drom think you need a name change as surely one hump is not big enough to accomodate monster baby? :o How come birthing unit can't take you? due to size Hmm or is this a separate issue? Doesnt seem fair to change things at this stage! Hope you work it out to your satisfaction tho.

kate still nothing your end then? Maybe miniegg is holding out for palindromic birth date on the 11th?

milanomum · 09/02/2011 13:01

Sorry - refresh fail. My post should've said "what GeeGee said."

Medee · 09/02/2011 13:18

eek drom, hope the scan is wrong.

LadyGoneGaga · 09/02/2011 13:39

Found this for Drom. Some nice positive birth stories for bigger babies.

laurielou · 09/02/2011 13:51

BB you are a very brave & wonderful person. Life can be shite sometimes.

Drom my eyes water for you. I reckon they're telling you this size so that the actual birth of an 8lb baybee will seem a breeze

Rie Always good to talk about norkage. Am off to stalk find your fred now.

I've just spent some Christmas money I forgot I had. Bought some Mama Mio oil. And a couple of stretchy clothes. All in the lovely spring colour of black Grin.

Ivegotmrbitey · 09/02/2011 14:25

I have just spent the money I haven't spent on fags this month on this I think £45 is an awful lot to spend on a top but am hoping it will be good for many occasions including job interviews. Was going to look for some trousers too but my credit card bill has arrived and now feel too horrified about that to carry on shopping. Also bought this for the kitten. he is not remotely impressed by it.

LadyGoneGaga · 09/02/2011 15:07

It is vey nice, Bitey. Just a slight caution with non-stretchy tops like that. I found I grew out of them by 7 months or so. I'd be tempted to get a size bigger tha you think you need.

OP posts:
Ivegotmrbitey · 09/02/2011 15:42

I am a bit worried about the size gg, I had dieted down to a 12 just before getting diffed, but then ate mostly toast for first 10 weeks and moved back into 14 clothes. I am buying size 14 maternity stuff elsewhere but have always found topshop to be spiteful meanspirited bastards less generously fitted than other shops so have ordered the 16. So it should either fit OK for now or for later but probably not both. On the bright side top shop stuff usually sells well on ebay. Apart from having two weddings to go at 8 and half months which are going to bring a whole new meaning to wardrobe crisis I think I am mostly going to be buying jersey material! Also made the mistake of looking at French Connection maternity wear. Now feel fat and poor.

owlbooty · 09/02/2011 16:06

I think I am actually getting thinner (this NEVER happens btw) everywhere except at the front which means my hipster jeans fall down over my arse and my normal jeans won't do up.

This appears to be because fatty things give me Evil Indigestion so my usual diet of chocolate and more chocolate has changed to tomatoes and more tomatoes instead. Wonder what the MW will say about that? I'll probably get told I have iron deficiency.

Topshop sizing is bloody tiny, I am def. a 16 in there where a 14 in other shops. That is a gorgeous top Bites . I have bought this in khaki because I am a cheapass and it covers the impending bump (but BHS are v.v.generous with their fabric so the 12 fits fine)

Ivegotmrbitey · 09/02/2011 16:20

That's pretty boots and will defo cover a burgeoning bump.

I am supposed to be writing a lecture and am mostly looking at maternity clothes. Do you think the students would like a two hour discussion on the risks of buying clothes online when you are not sure of your size instead?
