I think this is thread 8 or maybe 9......maybe we should take bets on which number we are on in June!!:)

almighty What a time you are having. I think your friend is being very unreasonable. Like the other ladies have said, let her come to you. Your silence alone will let her know that you are peed off.

jasmine Sorry you are feeling down. It must be so tough too with your DH away from home. Try not to stress too much.... here is my shoulder for you to blub on

For anyone going to something special while pregnant, Isabella Oliver have 47% off everything today. The discount decreases each day until Friday I think it is.. I just looked at a dress that is normally £115 and with the discount goes down to £60. I have a christening next month so need something for that although have seen a dress in M&S maternity... still undecided about it though Hmm

HalleLouja · 01/03/2011 09:59

The IO offer is amazing would it be wrong to buy a nice top and dress. I could probably e-bay them for more when I have finished!!!

loueytb3 · 01/03/2011 10:30

oooh popped on to catch up and just spotted neenewps tips about IO. Have been watching a few dresses in ebay and was outbid on one at the weekend. They go for £50-60 secondhand. I have a big party in early May and need something slightly more glam than jeans...

off to have a look and then I will be back to catch up I promise Grin

jasmine51 · 01/03/2011 10:32

Please can someone have an 'event' so I can buy one of the IO dresses? I've just bought a few tops from ASOS...it was a necessary therapeutic purchase you understand.

Are any of you lovely ladies military wives or have DHs who are away alot of the time? I know there is a forces sweethearts thread but I'm not really in that boat. I have some niggling issues that I dont think 'normal' partners would understand would love a chat

BarbieLovesKen · 01/03/2011 10:53

I am Jasmine, although mine is a military musician so isnt away quite as much as a "regular" soldier. Is Moomin too? (I think?)

Jer79 · 01/03/2011 11:08

Barbie Your christening plans sound exactly the way to do it - informal, summery, and you get to sit back and just enjoy it while others man the barbeque and fuss about salads. I have something similar in mind. Some £5 cava and good friends and a sunny day - such a nice way to see people too.

BarbieLovesKen · 01/03/2011 11:51

Oh thank you jer - great minds, huh? much less stressful to be honest - I want to enjoy this one too!!! Grin. (also will be able to have wine!!!)

AlmightyCitrus · 01/03/2011 12:33

Thanks for the kind words ladies!
DH has seen her today and tried to explain things again. Apparently she kept asking him if we (me and dh) were having marital problems because of it all, and won't seem to take no as an answer. It probably does seem a bit odd that a couple can spend all day every day together and not fall out, but we've barely had a cross word. No point arguing over money if you 'aint got none! Grin

As Kara said, I think she is a bit jealous, and she does think that I'm going to let her have free reign with the baby. (Not a bloody chance). She's quite demanding of my time and I do need a bit of a break from her.

NurseSunshine · 01/03/2011 12:48

Welcome back Banana, I'd wondered where you were. Sorry about your friends, sounds like you've had a horribly stressful time of it recently.

Why on earth would she have free reign with YOUR baby AlmightyCitrus?!

Hope everyone's OK today. Anyone else's boobs started leaking? Because, yeah, that's a thing that happens to me now Blush Sad

Have been to see the MW today, everything fine, have my MATB1 form so that I can claim MA from beginning of June.

AlmightyCitrus · 01/03/2011 13:11

*NurseSunshine" She seems to think that I'm going to leave junior with her all the time, and she can take him/her out when she pleases. She has already said she'll be like a second mum Shock.
TBH I've got no intention of leaving the baby with her for a second. I've already arranged to leave the baby with my mother (as hopefully DH will be gainfully employed by then) when I go and see her. Shame she's not this bothered about my older DC's. I'd happily loan them out for a day or two! Grin

jasmine51 · 01/03/2011 13:12

super thanks for the reassurance and the daffodil..lovely. I've actually been put on 2 wkly checks at the hosp now so I'm certainly being looked after...but the fact that I'm on such frequent checks does freak me out a bit. The private MW is the loveliest person ever and I'm sure she'd be horrified if she knew she'd worried me but facts is facts and there is no getting away from what my checks have uncovered so she was being realistic.

Funny you should mention the ms thing - mine has come back in fits and starts too. I was defo full of it on Saturday and I understand it is quite normal...if not a barrel of laughs.

nurse no leaky boobs here yet but I think thats really exciting, like you are 'ripening'!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 01/03/2011 13:23

Goodgrief, AlmightyCitrus - she seems a bit "Hand that rocked the cradle" to me!! Yeah I would be lining up a whole list of excuses why she can't visit/you can't visit her!!

Jer79 · 01/03/2011 13:38

Anyone know what the thread is for the current series of OBEM? I find Mumsnet's search facility (that Yahoo one) so rubbish at finding anything. Most stem back to 2010, and wondering if there's one that is about the more up-to-date episodes. Anyone know of a 2011 OBEM thread?

Jer79 · 01/03/2011 13:45

AlmightyCitrus I completely agree with everybody that this woman is best kept at a healthy distance, but I bet she thinks she's this incredibly brilliant friend who offers you 'real'support - refuses to let you get down (ie explain what actual pg is like!), forces you to look on the bright side (even though you're just having a good old rant/chat), offers to help tonnes when the baby comes etc. I bet she thinks she's your No 1 baby friend, and is just delusional in extremis. She sounds a bit lonely tbh, and jealous, and like she's trying very clumsily not to lose you in her life once the new baby comes and is quite scared she will.

sasamaxx · 01/03/2011 13:50

Yay TTL glad you got a hold of some love hearts Grin
I also meant to say - it has to be the hard refreshers, not the chewy ones Wink

Jasmine & nurse cheeky!!! Grin - I may have strange taste in sandwiches, but I am also very experienced in matters of heartburn lol - prob as a result of said sandwiches.
Fizzy cola bottles won't work - only chalky-type sweets, preferably a bit fizzy. I have no idea why they work - they just do, although not as well as gaviscon, and sometimes you need to eat quite a lot of them Wink. They're a great emergency remedy.

Clarkiee - I actually just had 2 rolls (followed by one with jam) - I do always like hot, spicy things, but pregnancy is definitely making me crave this kind of thing.

jasmine51 · 01/03/2011 13:56

Jer Its normally in the Childbirth thread but looks like noone has started one about yesterdays yet.

Jer79 · 01/03/2011 14:27

Holy st Jasmine, just checked out the Childbirth bit for the first time. Bloody hell! Our thread here is all I ever look at on MN and I'd no idea about this other world of everything you could ever possibly want to know/never want to know about childbirth. Yikes.

motherofsnortpigs · 01/03/2011 14:54

o jer you've just made me laugh. Too much to do here. Willfull wee-er has struck on DD1'S dressing gown and it is actually nappies that need washing. And we have to leave for ballet in 18 mins...

NurseSunshine · 01/03/2011 16:06

Dunno how you watch OBEM on a regular basis. I watched the Christmas special and cried every time they handed the baby to the mummy. Can't be doing with that all the time!

yes I would be a ridiculous midwife! Would blub constantly!

CMH1stbaby · 01/03/2011 17:46

i'm with you nurse - thats why i don't watch it anymore (used to drive my DH mad with all the tears!)

NurseSunshine · 01/03/2011 17:55

Sasamaxx thinking about it, your theory on sweets curing heartburn makes sense if they are "chalky" i.e. alkaline sweets then they would neutralise the stomach acid that causes heartburn. Might not take to eating raw chillis to test it out though Grin Did you know that the food you eat actually flavours your amniotic fluid? I am trying to eat lots of garlic and spicy foods so my baby isn't a wuss about trying stong flavoured things when she starts weaning! Will probably still end up with nightmare child that refuses everything but tinned peaces until she's 7 though Grin
