I think this is thread 8 or maybe 9......maybe we should take bets on which number we are on in June!!:)

sasa tried your lovehearts theory...ate the whole tube...now farting uncontrollably...and I have to go to yoga in a minute, cheers for that on behalf of the whole yoga class! Grin

Clarkiee · 01/03/2011 18:57

I've been eating Rennies for heart burn which come to think of it taste a bit like a less sweet (and less fun) love heart! My SIL said that my brother (who has a ridiculous sweet tooth) used to eat her Rennies when he couldn't get his hands on any sweets!!?!

Love the phrase 'biddy chic'! Loving lots of the name choices- lots of classic names.

I've taped OBEM heard there was a twin CS on it. Quick question is it worth watching or will it totally freak me out (I am a bit squemish)? It's wierd before I was pregnant the thought of giving birth used to really freak me out- but now I don't really think about it much, it doesn't freak me out like it used to. Think its because it's going to happen (in some form or another) so I've just accepted it.

almighty it sounds like your friend is quite self centred.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 01/03/2011 19:23

The one that was on last nigth was very sad apparently. I did stumbled upon a thread about it yesterday and I am glad I did because I know I absolutely will not be watching it.
I want to watch some of the earlier ones on iplayer, we have set up sky to record the rest of the series.

takethatlady · 01/03/2011 20:07

It was very sad but all with a happy ending. One couple had had some very traumatic experiences with previous babies (I won't say in case people don't want to know) and had an ELCS because they didn't want to go through it again. They were very worried and concerned but it all turned out very well. The twin CS was fine too - they knew one baby had a problem before it was born but again, the outcome was very positive. :)

Clarkiee · 01/03/2011 20:30

Thanks kara and ttl Think I'll watch it (with hankies at the ready) x

BPrincess · 01/03/2011 21:09

Hi all

Trying to catch up with everyone's news, as ever, but never will! So just to say, hope things get better for those who've been going through it lately.

Just a quickie on heartburn - I swear by fruit flavoured Tums. A bit like refreshers really I suppose, tastier than Rennies and actually quite nice. And Sainsbury's do an own brand which is just as good and much cheaper. I'm getting through quite a few...

Also I'd like to say WELCOME TO THE THIRD TRIMESTER! to some of us. I'm now 27+3, so officially nearing the end, and I am SO glad. Starting to have really achey back and getting tired really quickly.

I was wondering if anyone had any good sleep tips. I'm getting really uncomfortable at night these days. Bought one of those snake pillows, which I chucked out of bed in a tantrum last night. Eventually got comfy with an extra pillow between the knees and a cushion in the small of my back, but not ideal.

Eyes on the prize, I suppose. It'll all be worth it in the end Grin

jasmine51 · 01/03/2011 21:17

sasa - still farting....Blush

sasamaxx · 01/03/2011 21:49

lol jasmine - sorry about the farting.

Your chalky sweets explanation makes a lot of sense nursesunshine. I ate spicy food through both previous pregnancies - DS (5) won't touch anything that isn't blander than bland, but DD (2) happily eats chilli flavour crisps, curry and pakora. Mind you, saying that, I had v v bad heartburn the first time round so maybe I did limit the spicy food a bit and I just don't remember...

Bprincess I'm 27 weeks on Friday - is that when 3rd trimester starts?

I've had terrible heartburn all day (probably the chillies at lunchtime), a sore pelvis and sore lower back. The baby has been kicking lumps out of me as well - quite sore at times. My 'easy' middle bit is well and truly over. Just 3 months to go though Grin

bananarama05 · 01/03/2011 21:57

oh nurse i was hoping the leaky boobs thing was a pregnancy myth! I have no doubts it will happen to me though, whilst at work, wearing a really obvious top Grin

I missed the start of OBEM last night, quite glad I did now I think, I just got to see the happy bits!

Bprincess I'm getting so so tired these days and am a week behind you. Having a week of holiday last week has made work seem impossibly hard to get back into :( I'm coping with random extra pillows for the time being but they end up all over the place by the morning.

Anyone else getting super puffy, painful hands and feet? I've given up on jewellery, the 1 ring I always wear no longer fits my fat fingers and I now seem super sensitive to all my cheap tat primark earings :( None of my shoes fit anymore either thanks to my chubba feet, ah well as you said eyes on the prize, roll on summer and the maxi dresses and flip flops! Grin

NurseSunshine · 01/03/2011 22:11

Sorry Banana If it makes you feel any better it's only happened in bed so far when I'm sort of lying on a boob! Am just waiting for it to happen in public though Blush

BPprincess I am constantly knackered as well and am 24+5. Lower back has just started getting achey too :(

NurseSunshine · 01/03/2011 22:14

Got a MW app tomorrow and the last time I went, ages ago, I had glucose in my urine and she said if I did again I would have to have a fasting glucose test in case I have gestational diabetes :( So a bit worried about that, though am sure it will be fine. Cross your fingers for me though :)

DaisyFields · 01/03/2011 22:37

Hey nurse I have the glucose test on Thursday morning, I'll let you know what it's like. I'm going to have 3 weetabix at 5 to midnight tomorrow night to get me through the 9 hour fast as I'm a pig!

Laughing at the thought of Jasmine's fizzy love heart trumps, like the whizzpops in the BFG.

Sobbed and sobbed at OBEM but happy tears. Although didn't cry at any scans or hearing heartbeat, I am heartless when it comes to my own child, obviously.

motherofsnortpigs · 01/03/2011 22:45

Well, I got all the washing done, got everyone to ballet on time, tidied the house and still got told off when DH got home for finishing my hot cup of tea rather than putting the DDs to bed. He later apologised :)

jasmine there are a couple of women at the toddler groups I go to in Cholsey that have DHs who work away some of the time. How are you fixed Tues or Thurs mornings and I could introduce you?

Almost bought something on the IO site, but I couldn't bear to part with money for something I haven't tried on. I have therefore been promised a shopping day by myself soon. It is necessary because SIL is getting married (erm....4 days after my EDD, but no one knows that!) I have decided to hold on to the baby until after the wedding.

sarah thanks for your concern over the computer. Unfortunately, if a 13mo boy steps on the monitor it is kind of permanently broken...

I MUST GO TO BED! (I had a cheeky G&T with my dinner. I felt I deserved it, but I am tired now and belching so will probably regret it soon)

Night night all

BPrincess · 01/03/2011 22:51

Sasa Yes, I think 3rd trimester begins around 26, 27 weeks, so I think you're allowed in the 3rd trimester club. Welcome Smile! Hope your back eases up.

banana Poor you - I know how you feel. We also went on hols a few weeks ago and it was the commute that really hit me when I got back (and lack of pool!). SO unfair!! And yes to puffy hands. If I get even a teeny bit overheated, there they are, the sexy sausage fingers - eugh, hate it. I've bought some refreshing wet wipes, which help a bit in times of crisis. I ditched the rings weeks ago, and just try and keep cool. If I wasn't up the duff, I'd swear I was having an early menopause Confused

nurse sympathies going out to you too, with the achey back. We need to get our partners working harder methinks. Time to hand over a few more household duties Grin Good luck with the diabetes test.

Oops, just eaten a mini tub of jelly beans. Probably NOT good for heartburn...

DaisyFields · 01/03/2011 22:55

I'm lucky to get washing done, house tidied and arrive anywhere on time and it's just me, the boy and the cat. I hope that your response included the words 'go' and 'bollocks'.

Good night all too.

BPrincess · 01/03/2011 23:03

nurse forgot to add that I had a leaky boob incident, just once, while on hols in Canaries. I'd been in the sea, mucking about on a lilo, when caught offguard by a huge wave and sent spinning round under the wave. Was worried for a mo, but all seemed fine, except when I went back to shower and change... and there it was - leaky nips Shock. Not happened since however. Oh, and I was really pleased in a weird way as I had a breast reduction 3 yrs ago so I'm wondering whether I'll be capable of breastfeeding. It's given me hope Smile

Merlion · 02/03/2011 06:11

BPrincess good news.

nurse/daisy I had glucose test with DS and assume I'll have to have one this time as it seems to be a routine test here. Anyway was all ok but pretty boring having to wait around so do take something to read also the stuff they make you drink is absolutely disgusting. It is supposed to be something like lucozade but IMHO nothing like it.

moomin156 · 02/03/2011 09:37

WOw......you dont read for 30 hrs and its like reading a novel. Welcome back banana
Loving the indigestion remedies, i am just relying on swigs of gaviscon from the random bottles around the house / work. works a treat...am i weird in the fact i love the aniseed version.
I am also craving extra spicy food, always loved it but i can appreciate the need for a raw chilli sandwich ( not that i think i would dare, but i do understand)
jasmine yes i am a military wife but a newbie to the life so probably wont be able to help much.....when the bean is born then i will become a proper one and move into quarters wherever DH's next posting is. Hopefully hear this week. Maybe i will become one of you Oxford ladies ( Bicester was on the shortlist)
Well i have managed 2 days at work and so glad for a day off today. Exhausted, went to bed for an hour yesterday when i got home. No bleeding thankfully but yes backache and swollen ankles.......i do think an early finish is in order, not sure i can manage.
We have also decided on names.....have told a few people. MIL said oooooh Yuck which was really nice of her so agree it may be worth keeping quiet in real life. If its a girl....Florence Ruby. If its a boy George Henry ( middle name may change though but definitely George)

Lovely names Moomin :) That's a bit rude of your MIL though!

BPprincess Would be lovely to have someone to hand things over too, unfortunately I do not.

Good luck with your glucose test Daisy. I'll be the same with the midnight feast if I have to have one!

Need a bit of a rant so feel free to skip this bit!
I know a midwife, she's sort of friends with some of my friends but I don't really like her very much to be honest! Anyway, we were both at a mutual friend's for dinner a while ago and, stupidly, I mentioned a few things I was worried about RE pregnancy, thinking, well she's a midwife, it's her job to reassure people like me. I mentioned worrying about putting on too much weight, to which she replied "Yes, you are too big for x weeks (whatever I was at the time)." I was like Shock Blush Sad and Then mentioned about the possibility of diabetes and she said "Oh well all your plans for home birth would be out the window then, since your baby would be so big you'd probably tear etc etc etc". Which obviously made me much more worried and upset. I've since been googling pics of women the same number of weeks as me and I don't think I look significantly bigger than most of them. I know I have put on quite a bit of weight and I'm worried about the effect that's having on the baby. And if it turns out I do have GD I will probably blame myself even though I know it's not caused by that. AHHHHH. I'm just annoyed with myself for even speaking to her since I know she's not a very nice person but I can't believe she would be so inconsiderate of a pregnant woman's feelings and worries when she's a flipping midwife FFS!
Right, rant over! Will just have to hope everything goes OK at the appointment later.

Jer79 · 02/03/2011 12:15

NurseSunshine She's an ass. Completely forget about her. She sounds like she has a right chip on her shoulder. Plus she's in one of the most over-worked, underpaid sectors of public service and maybe gets a bit stroppy when she's off the clock. Hope you never get to see her at work!

Good luck Leroy :)

NurseSunshine · 02/03/2011 12:25

Thanks Jer, she is just a stupid tw@t! Would hate to be a woman whose baby she is delivering.

AlmightyCitrus · 02/03/2011 12:36

Blimey Moomin that's a bit mean of MIL.
I've never even told my own mother what names we've chosen in the past, and I'm not going to now...I know for a fact she'll absolutely HATE the girls name we've chosen. I expect most people will be a bit Hmm anyway.
I think once the baby is born and you introduce them as "name" , people are less like to say that it is horrible.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 02/03/2011 12:41

Nurse - ignore her she sounds like a right miserable cow.

Moomin - that is why we are keeping our name choices under wraps, because of people like your MIL who just cannot help themselves Angry
