zippy congrats!! Good for you and DH for making all the changes! Hope you have a H&H 9 months! Did you have IVF or was it next March you were going to do it? (sorry - don't answer if I'm being too nosy)

lanky you get a lot of extra scans?! Is there a reason? My last scan was at 21 weeks. If I (DH) had enough will power I would have kept bubba's gender a surprise - Its like a huge reward for giving birth to finally find out.

mrswajs sounds like a good plan. I think esp very pregnant women appreciate a one-stop place where they can find what they need. And esp when you are pregnant I think trying things on is easier than ordering online and hoping it looks good on your changing body.

zippys · 15/09/2011 08:04

Morning, thank you everyone for the congrats, its so lovely to see how far so many of you have got.

Its still early days, I am 6 weeks on sunday. Had a scare intially as had some bleeding earlier in the week but thats all stopped now and symptoms are kicking in including feeling queasy!

I have to saw this has been such a hard thing to go through, DP threaten to leave at one point when we knew it was male factor (obviously I wouldn't let him go anywhere) and it has been really tough seeing friends having babies when all the time you wonder why not me. I have had to pass over a massive promotion as it wouldnt work with IVF (although now thats perfect as I wont want to go back full time) and that was really hard not knowing if we would have child at the end of it. BUT I now have little pip in my tummy and it has all been worthwhile.

Goldmaple you are not being nosy - no we were down to start ICSI in March 2012 as we had been told that there was next to no chance of us getting pregnant naturally. In fact we would be keen to see DP semen analysis test now to see if it was a miracle sperm or that he had made huge improvements.

Lanky I am unsure on exercise as well as I have been seeing a personal trainer two or three times a week and then doing another 2 -3 hours a week on top. I am seeing him tonight and am going to let him know but I think we will have to totally rethink what I am doing.

MrsWaj I think your idea sounds great, there are very few shops round here that do maternity wear so it would be a god send. Talking of maternity wear when did you all start to need it? Ironically I have just got rid of loads of clothes that were too big and now wishing I had kept some!

hi to everyone else, hope you all have a lovely day
xx

zippys · 15/09/2011 11:26

May have been celebrating too early :( Had cramps and bleeding so waiting for call from EPU.

Trying not to worry but how can you not :(

haloflo · 15/09/2011 11:52

Oh zippys I really really hope its just the kind of bleeding that lots of us got at the 6 week mark and the cramps are just stretching pains. Hope that the EPU can see you soon.

Thinking of you. xxx

zippys · 15/09/2011 15:45

Thanks Halo

Got a scan tomorrow but it maybe to early to see anything, feeling a little more positive now - trying to stay that way until I know more.

goldmaple · 15/09/2011 18:08

zippy FX for you! Is it brown? because that can be quite common.

cherrycobbler · 16/09/2011 13:08

thinking of you today zips xx

zippys · 19/09/2011 07:59

Thanks for the kind thoughts they mean a lot to me. I went to the EPU was it was too early for a scan as they wouldnt see a heartbeat and it therefore wouldnt give me any meaningful answers. So booked in for a scan this Thursday - which seems ages away. Just trying to get through each day at a time and keeping everything crossed for Thursday. However a positive note I have not had any more bleeding (the bleeding was mainly dark brown but also pink with the cramps but very light) and also got other symptoms, hungry all the time, felt sick this morning and (TMI) constipation and bloating!

It still doesnt feel real, we have had loads of conversations about putting off the wedding, how many days to go back to work etc etc yet deep down I still havent let myself accept I am actually pregnant - I hope I will feel different after Thursday.

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend.
xxx

highheelsandequations · 19/09/2011 20:50

zippys just to let you know, I had dark brown and pink spotting from 8-14 weeks. I also had cramps in the early weeks and all was fine. I know it's horrible waiting for answers but try to stay positive. Keeping everything crossed for you and will be thinking of you on Thursday.

goldmaple · 19/09/2011 21:43

zippys glad there hasn't been anymore bleeding. Hope Thursday comes quick for you. To second what Highheels said I had spotting too (at week 13ish?!) but around 4-7 weeks I had AF like cramps too. I think it is the uterus stretching with hormones or it is confused as to why AF never came. FX for you! And feeling sick and all the other symptoms sound very promising

LankyLegs · 21/09/2011 10:31

Zippys wow - an eventful few days - I am so pleased your bleeding has stopped and keeping everything crossed for you my dear. Keep us posted as to how tomorrow goes - will be thinking of you and hope you have taken solace from the advice the lovely ladies have been providing.

zippys · 21/09/2011 14:13

thank you for all thinking of us. I am currently sat at home crying my eyes out, I lost little pip yesterday and devestated would be an understatement. I feel like my heart is breaking.

I know there is the positive that it means I can get pregnant but that really doesnt help right now.

Good luck with your pregnancy and parenthood journeys and thank you for all the support you guys have given me over the years. I hope to back with better news soon.

xxx

LankyLegs · 21/09/2011 16:03

Oh zippys am so so sorry to hear that. Was so over the moon for you. I could say all the stuff you mentioned but as you said it doesn't help. I just did want to say how proud you both should be of the amazing changes you made to get to this stage. Be good to yourself and each other. I really hope you feel ready to try again soon and we are always here any time you need a chat. Xx

womanlytales · 21/09/2011 17:27

Am terribly sorry for this turn of events zippy - Please do take care of yourself. I do hope you are back here soon.

goldmaple · 21/09/2011 22:58

zippy so sorry to hear your news:( Take care of yourself and rest up. I hope you are back here with your sticky BFP as soon as you are ready!

LankyLegs · 26/09/2011 14:28

Zippys still thinking of you - hope you are bearing up ok.....

How is everyone else doing?

Gold the reason that I have an additional 3 growth scans is due to having an underactive thyroid and am sadly consultant led at this stage. Thyroid has been under control and checked regularly but should find out at my 28 week appt whether I can be back to midwife led (although other than extra scans and 1 appt with the consultant I have not noticed what the difference is between the two types of care to be honest). How are you getting on otherwise - how long left for you?

Womanly how may weeks are you now? Hope everything is going well and MS isn't too awful.

Toria you enjoying the time off before baby arrives? Hope you got your MA sorted...

I think I am going through a growth spurt - lots of pain in the pelvic area, bad lower back and tummy getting bigger... it's like having teenage growing pains - but worse! Other than that we are just trying to sort out the last bits of rennovations to the house before we get carpets down and then start to think about nursery furniture in. Did anyone book into a John Lewis nursery advisor thing?

Also wondering if anyone is using the dreamgenii pillow? Is it any good?

x

womanlytales · 27/09/2011 08:44

Lanky hope your growth spurt pains ease up. I am on my 10th week. In my 9th I had a mid-wife appt and they sent me to EPAU for a scan since I had brown spotting. They saw a hemotoma but said it was small and in a 'good' place...ie they expect it to go away. I have had more spotting since that scan and so am right now cautiously terrified. MS continues but I think I am getting better at managing it which is great - :) My nuchal scan is on 14 Oct - so that's the next mini milestone for me. I am also under midwife cum consultant care though they are not planning any additional scans for me nor do they want to monitor my thyroids more regularly. My TSH is 4.6 and that's on the high side but they are like...oh it's just borderline, do not worry. :) Is the dreamgenii pillow the long one that kinda winds around you... I think halo mentioned something about a pregnancy pillow that was wonderful.. I am interested in getting once in the 2nd trimester because I think it would help me sleep without twisting my body too much...
I tend to sleep on my left..and then go to my right and then back... and read somewhere that when pregnant I should rememeber to get up and switch positions rather than just swing myself around as I do now... oh well, baby steps for me... hope the spotting goes away and my baby is growing ok.

haloflo · 27/09/2011 13:42

roundtable Any news????

womanly 14 Oct will be here before you know it. xx I think you are supposed to sleep on your right side when pregnant (something to do with blood flow?) but tbh I think you just need to be comfortable and sleep as much as you can. Sounds like they think you have quite a low risk pregnancy? That has to be good news?

Pillows! I had a long sausage shaped one which was good. I never tried the dreamgenii one. However I found my pillow a good investment. I slept with it between my legs, in front of my bump and held onto it like it was a person! I found this was the most comfortable way I could sleep. I sleep on my front normally so kind of ended up at a slight angle facing down toward the bed whilst being on my side still. lanky Do you know anyone with one you can borrow/try out? They are quite expensive from what I remember. I doubt you will regret buying it though. Are they quite firm? Could you use it for breastfeeding? (if you are planning to breastfeed)

lanky I think cherry did the JL nursery thing? Hope the growing pains ease soon. I had a microwavable bean thing that went in the microwave. Lovely against my back when I was all achey. That and a nice back rub from DP Grin

LankyLegs · 27/09/2011 16:31

Oh yes any news from roundtable?! We need to get the list updated with people and due dates!

Womanly I agree with halo and the 14th Oct will come around quick (although will not feel that way I am sure!)I am glad they are keeping an eye on your spotting and you sound like you have your head screwed on about it all and hopefully are not stressing too much. Glad the ms is under a bit more control as well. With regards to your thyroid - just for reference my TSH is 0.25 and T4 is 17.7 ( I think that is the right way around) but you need to make sure that you get your bloods done every 4 weeks. My consultant said they like for your TSH to be under 2.5 during pregnancy - although am not sure if they are NICE guidelines or not. I was a bit miffed why I was getting all these extra scans (but not complaining of course).

I am still like you when I sleep - twisting all over the place but am now getting to the stage where I am more aware of the bump - hence thinking this pillow might be a good idea as I toss and turn loads through the night.

Halo how is little Hannah doing? Good I hope! She must be getting big now! Thanks for the sleeping advice - I agree I want to get one similar to yours as it would be good for breast feeding afterwards. I might pop into JL at the weekend and have a look but I think the NCT shop also does them. Just need to get something that doesn't cost a bomb and can be used for other purposes!

Cherry was the JL nursery thing any good? Worth it? We don't need to buy much as am inheriting a lot from my sister, but need the basic nursery furniture. I did have a look in Ikea the other day and it all looked very unsturdy - so hence JL - maybe it will last a few a babies worth of use!

LankyLegs · 27/09/2011 16:34

Also I did forget to mention that I didn't realise how bloody painful these stretching/growing pains were! No one tells you about the extent of the pain!

goldmaple · 27/09/2011 17:31

lanky I agree that they should be more honest about how hard pregnancy is! When you consider we're growing another human its not surprising its hard but after watching all the celebrities working 18 hours days up until their cs (while looking gorgeous and thin) makes it look easier... Nice that you get extra scans to see bubs:)

womanly sorry to hear about your spotting. Don't know anything about a hematoma but at least there is a reason for the spotting which doesn't involve the baby. Still hope the spotting goes away and Oct 14th will be here before you know it!

I got a large C-shaped pillow (can't remember the name - maybe a snoozle?) but LOVE it!! Still sleeping well at 34 weeks!

cherrycobbler · 27/09/2011 19:39

lanky I did do the JL thing but just to get an idea of what we might need, and also to have someone show us the different prams. We ended up getting our bugaboo second hand, and our cotbed and chest of drawers from John Lewis online (its from the Boori range), and our other bits and bobs from other places. I recommend Asda and Tesco for baby vests and stuff - we bought some from there, some from Boots and some from John Lewis/ M&S, and they all seem pretty much same quality despite hugely differing prices. You also feel less guilty about throwing away a poo-stained vest that you've had to cut your baby out of when it was only £1 or so. I LOVE our Boori nursery furniture, it was ££ but a present from the grandparents Grin. A lovely man from JL came and assembled the whole thing too, feel a bit better about that than trusting my PFB to a cot assembled by my very un-handy DH.

I had a dream genii pillow. Loved it in the second trimester, but nothing could get me comfy when I was mahoosive! Still use it now as a nest for baby or when b/feeding, so getting lots of use out of it. Any long thin pillow would work though.

womanly v glad that your spotting turned out to be ok. Oct 14 will come really quickly! 10 weeks already, gosh. Hope you're feeling ok?

lanky Hannah is doing well, thank you for asking. She is 6mo now and a massive cuddly chuck of baby fat. Just started her on solids, things are about to get messy I fear. New pic on my profile Smile

I've just noticed crazyalien is nearly at her due date. Hope all is well! Seems like yesterday you wanted reassurance all would be well at your 12 week scan.

haloflo · 28/09/2011 15:01

When I said chuck, I meant chunk! Sorry, blame sleep deprivation..

LankyLegs · 28/09/2011 16:18

Halo 6 months already - time flys! She looks adorbale - cuddles must be amazing at the moment! Very cute!! Solids will be fun for you both.... Wink

cherry thanks for the info - I thinking the same as you - get an idea of what I want and then go elsewhere so stuff. i think you are right when it comes to basics though - I plan to raid the supermarkets and I can see alot of stuff getting trashed in poo related incidents. The Boori range is lush! I was looking at the malmo range but will see how we get on - will try and book myself in for an appt in November sometime. I very luckily get 25% off there at the moment so am going to make the most of buying stuff! How is your little one doing?

Gold wow - 34 weeks! When are you taking mat leave - must not be long now for you. Hope you are feeling as well as you can at this stage.

Amusingly I was in the supermarket the other day and saw a VERY pregnant woman - she either must have been ready to give birth soon or carrying twins, but I couldn't stop staring at how big she was - she was totally slim but with a mashoosive bump. It scared me a tad thinking - shite how big do you actually get???!! Even DH looked amazed! Maybe I am just in denial and it's all very manageable at the moment! Someone give me a slap?!

I am counting down to when my contract ends - just before crimble which means I should get 5 weeks before the little one arrives which I am very much looking forward to.

Hope everyone gets to enjoy the sunshine (very very warm down south at the moment)
