Hi ladies-thought I would be adventurous & set up the new thread for the final leg of our journey Grin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
wigglesrock · 31/01/2011 10:08

needtosleep Yay, many congrats and snuggles.

Debka read your thread, thinking of you ,hope today things might be a little brighter and thinking of you tomorrow. We are all here for a rant, moan or just a cry xxx

snowangels my baby suddenly feels quite high up, not really sure what that means, although I feel a bit crampy today but I don't think its anything exciting.

byronichorine I've had sweeps with both of my dds, at about 40+5ish, to be honest thought they were useless, not the most pleasant experience in the world and didn't do anything. I've nothing against them, as you know I had a positive induction experience but I'm never sure how effective they are. Anecodately they've never made a diference to anyone I've known and I've never known anyone to be offered them early. I'm not sure I will be bothering with one myself this time if I go over.

debka · 31/01/2011 10:13

I had a sweep on Weds when they decided I'd be induced at 39 wks. I was 38+3. It wasn't THAT bad but she couldn't really sweep as everything was closed. Don't really know why she bothered TBH. Agree with wiggles, had 2 sweeps with DD, neither of which worked, not convinced of their efficacy but when you're 40+12 with a 9lb baby you'll try anything!

PDR · 31/01/2011 10:31

I had 3 sweeps last time when I was overdue and they didn't do anything for me. They weren't THAT bad like debka says but not sure I'd bother this time really. Ditto that I don't know anyone who has actually gone into labour following a sweep Confused but they must work for some or they wouldn't bother!

smallblackflowers · 31/01/2011 10:36

needto congratulations on your baby boy! xxx

ledkr really sorry to hear that your LO has a cleft palate, but to echo everyone else, at least it has been diagnosed now and you have the special bottles that she needs in order to feed. Sending lots of hugs and best wishes your way.

angels my baby tends to be quite low by the end of each day, but must wriggle upwards in the night as experiencing similar to you. Wish he would just get on with it and engage!

byronic I had a sweep in my last pg, at about 38.4 and it was excruciatingly painful as my cervix was not favourable. Was induced at 40 weeks and it all happened pretty quickly, so not sure if the sweep helped with that. Will not be asking for one this time...

smallblackflowers · 31/01/2011 10:38

Just wondering how breastmilk is getting on as it her due date today...and we've not had an update for a while.

byronicheroine · 31/01/2011 10:43

Congratulations to needto well done.

pink from what the mw said it was just to 'get things moving' so I didn't really question it, but I just looked into it and it doesn't sound like something I want early (especially as it hurts!!). I might just hope that things get going naturally, and think about a sweep after my due date.

Also, my OH has just had a go at me cos I didn't dash down 6 flights of stairs (we do have a lift Blush to get to the postman... it's only a stupid calculator being delivered - I'll get it tomorrow!
Maybe just sit yours down and explain you need your sleep - or just be grumpy which is what i did. This is your chance to sleep though, goddamit - am Angry for you!

byronicheroine · 31/01/2011 10:44

And thanks sbf for the stats - so close now!
Yes, i think i'll decline until at least my due date, I wonder why they try early?

americanexpat · 31/01/2011 11:23

Congrats to Needto! Starting to feel a bit Envy of everyone in labour/cuddling their babies. I'm due Friday and fully expecting to go overdue but it won't stop me from moaning about it.

Angry at all the OH's who are not being supportive.

Deliaskis · 31/01/2011 11:58

COngrats on new arrival needto !

Hope breastmilk is doing OK.

Sorry to hear DH is being an ar$e debka (and also sorry for anybody else with unsupportive partners). I can see the cluster migraines are not going to help, they're horrid and quite debilitating, but he also needs to understand how you are feeling right now, and that you can't take it out on each other.

Ledkr sorry to hear about baby's cleft palate, but so glad it's been spotted early and can be resolved quite easily. A friend of a friend had a baby with this and it really was fine after the op.

All is OK here, had a lazy weekend (I think all remaining weekends will be lazy!), but still quite a lot of SPD pain. I think because it has got colder again. I know heat helps so presumably cold doesn't?

Am a little bit Envy at those having babies or getting signs that things are moving along! Although my DDay is still 2+5 weeks away, I feel like I want some kind of signal that baby knows it is time to start thinking about making a move. I don't feel like anything is imminent, but then I don't know if people do, unless it's 'really' imminent, IYSWIM. DH keeps having a talk wih baby, telling it it's time to get its 'travelling pants' on (this is a bit of a standing joke with DH and I as he once dragged me round shops for a whole weekend looking specifically for 'travelling pants' for a long haul flight. He was very specific about what they should be like!). So come on baby, time for travelling pants, or at least...you know...find them, lay them out ready...

Yep, I've lost my mind Blush .

Am having irrational pregnancy sort-of-craving-sort-of-just-wanting-something-I-haven't-got this morning - I have lovely roast dinner leftovers, but what I really want is a cheese sandwich! Wonder if someone in my office wants to swop?.....wanders off...

Take care ladies and stay happy and healthy.

Dx

PinkElephant73 · 31/01/2011 12:00

Needtosleep many congratulations!

Debka sorry to hear about your OH problems, which are in a different league to mine, (but I do despair a bit about what he will be like when the baby is born and I really do need support, up til now I have been coping ok...)

Byronic you have my sympathy too re your OH! I think you are right to wait til your due date at least for the sweep, is it your first baby?

hope everyone else is well and we have more baby news soon!

snowangels1 · 31/01/2011 12:38

pinkelephant I sympathise with DH banging about - mine has a habit of turning the big bright main light on when I'm trying to sleep (there are more ambient smaller lights in the room for a reason you know Angry ) and always makes alot of noise wherever he goes.

DH washed the material bit on the outside of the moses basket yesterday that goes up the sides and managed to shrink it Angry - he insisted on doing it at 40 and I did say to do it on 30 incase it shrunk - he spent yesterday looking very guilty and cross at himself - you'd have thought he would have learnt by now that I'm always right in these matters Wink

Antenatal class this morning quite interesting. Lots of talk of poo and nipples Grin

Glad there are others with moving bumps - mine has been engaged for a few weeks and I did have lots of low down pain where she was engaged, but that's all stopped now with bump rise, so I think she's disengaged herself (probably all that thought of me being induced is scaring her into wanting to stay longer inside, sigh).

No further word from needto yet here but hoping she's enjoying lots of time with her LO.

delia love the cravings of anything you don't currently have - I've had that throughout (well, not so much craving for me, more the only thing I can stand the thought of eating)

40Weeks · 31/01/2011 14:41

Congrats needto hope you are feeling well and get some super cuddles. You must be very proud.

So come on, more babies please! I still have 3.5 weeks to go, so near the end, so why does it feel ages away!???

I can't get enough choc at the moment. Just had a double decker and still on the scrounge.

Thinking of you debka hope today is better

smallblackflowers · 31/01/2011 16:59

debka I've just read your thread, and really hope you are feeling better about things today and that your DH is doing all that he can to support you before your big day. All the very best for tomorrow. Really looking forward to hearing your baby news.[hugs]

tadjennyp · 31/01/2011 17:21

Loads of congratulations needto - hope you are enjoying all of your snuggles.

Best of luck tomorrow debka - I'm sure everything will go brilliantly!

Have you thought of a name yet ledkr?

Tarlia · 31/01/2011 18:03

Just a real flying visit to wish deb and tallulah lots of luck for your inductions tomorrow! Sending you lots of positive labour vibes.

I hope needto and breastmilk are both enjoying newborn snuggles by now.

I'll try and catch up tomorrow, hope you are all well, lovely ladies x

roundthehouses · 31/01/2011 18:11

i think i forgot to send my congrats to needto!! Shock many many many congrats indeed hope you are enjoying getting to know your little one. awww. Envy Wink Grin

good luck debka and tallulah for tomorrow. (see smileys above.. Wink)

tadjennyp · 31/01/2011 18:14

Didn't realise tallulah was being induced tomorrow. Best of luck to you too!

wigglesrock · 31/01/2011 18:16

Good luck Debka and Tallulah for tomorrow. Debka - just focus on getting you and the baby through it and hopefully dh will step up a little more.

Dd1 finished school early today, so took her into town for "toothfairy" money treat. What fun the Disney Store was Hmm.

smallblackflowers · 31/01/2011 18:24

tallulah good luck to you too Smile

snowangels1 · 31/01/2011 18:29

wiggles I'm still in Shock that tooth fairy now has to deliver sufficient funds for a tooth to warrant a trip to the disney store Confused. Btw how is the bridezilla wedding planning going? (have you been watching the big fat gypsy wedding programme?).

Will be thinking lots of tallulah and debka tomorrow. They're coming in thick and fast now arn't they Grin

40 I've got half a wispa left - here you go

wigglesrock · 31/01/2011 18:44

snowangels DD informed me that should tooth fairy not deliver required funds for Disney Store I could add some more money to it Hmm She was very good and is really reasonable about being told no, too expensive, needless to say I don't let the wilful one dd2 any where near Disney Store!!!!.

Bridezilla has calmed down slightly, think her OH may have had a talk to her, she is really well organised and everything has been so much cheaper because the sales are so good this year. Seriously if she fell into a pile of shite she's come out with a diamond. The dds are all done, so just have to wait until after this one comes along to pick out dress, its not to be bridesmaidy so shouldn't be that bad. Thankfully strange as it may sound I've always been at my lightest 6-12 weeks after having the baby so hopefully should be ok. I haven't watched any of the wedding show, I can't watch real people on tv, seriously I get too embarrased for them, much to Mr Wiggles amusement I literally find it impossible to watch Blush

debka · 31/01/2011 19:01

Thanks for all your good wishes, feel v calm about induction tomorrow, although I just left DD at Granny and Grandad's and feel SO guilty, like I've betrayed her. It'll never be just her and me any more. Am v sad Sad .

DH has been a bit better today, I got a couple of hugs and he helped me tidy up too. Hoping he'll vaccuum later as well as I have absolutely run out of steam now. Been a busy day.

Opinions please- should I watch OBEM considering what's going to happen tomorrow??!! Grin

[angels] is there any of that wispa left? I'd kill for some sugar! Envy

earlgreyismynectar · 31/01/2011 19:04

Congratulations Needto!!! I can't wait to hear all about it! Enjoy lots of precious newborn cuddles xxx

Look forward to hearing from Breastmilk too, two new babies! :)

Sorry to hear how upset you were Ledkr but a relief she is feeding better now. Try not to worry and enjoy getting to know each other xxx

Thanks for the Clary Sage info EauRouge! Great ideas! I'll prepare for the stink and take on some of them! I bought sweet almond oil today as a carrier and hope to track down some Rose essential oil tomorrow if it isn't too expensive!

Baby was making up for it's lack of movement these last few days by starting aerobics around 4.30am and continuing throughout today, lovely to feel it again though! Still no closer to head engaged either. I know I'm not going to go early!!!

I'm booked for a sweep on my due date, not convinced it works tbh but willing to give anything a go. Also going to book some acupuncture sessions to begin on my due date which I have heard a lot of good feedback about. There is an acupuncture therapist locally who is also a midwife so I'm going to have a chat with her. Anyone else had experience of this? Problem is I have a relatively brief window when DP is home and he'll be away again before I'm 2 weeks over so would really be prepared to try anything if I go overdue!

Sympathies at the unthinking other halves, they all seem to be capable of being idiots with no idea what it is like for us Hmm

Good luck Debka, I hope you have a wonderful birth experience tomorrow! I look forward to hearing about your new baby! x Migraines won't help your DP's mood for sure (my DP suffers with them) but still hope he gets real and steps up for you despite this.

Good luck Tallulah too! Had no idea she was getting induced!

Thanks for the stats SBF! You'll keep us right!

Be happy & healthy ladies!

PDR · 31/01/2011 19:11

Evening all!

Congrats to needto if I haven't already said and I hope breastmilk also has her baby out by now!

Wishing debka and tallulah speedy inductions tomorrow!

Midwife appointment went well today - no glucose in urine so that's good - still measuring over - 40 and I am only 37+3 but midwife said she expected that and that she thinks the baby will make an appearance any day now Hmm Wish they wouldn't say these things as only raises false hopes! I fully expect to go overdue tbh!
Not seeing her for a fortnight anyway as have Consultant appointment next week and no point doing both.

BP was down quite a bit - wondering if it could have been the reflexology? Or perhaps becuase I have actually been able to take it easy these past few days as new nanny started and is fab.

Fingers crossed it stays down now! I have another reflexology appointment on Thursday and Indian Head Massage on Friday :)

Going to go swimming tomorrow when DH goes to his gym - really trying to keep active as I truely believe I went so overdue last time becuase I was on hospital bed rest. Will counter-balance the activity with lunch as pool/gym in a hotel so easy to trick DH into having lunch afterwards Grin
