toom I naturally sleep on the left anyway, but I have my usual two pillows for my head, a wedge pillow for under my bump, and a long pillow between my legs, from crotch to ankle. Periodically I roll over onto my right, but rarely rest there for long without my wedge as my bump gets sore.

StrangewaysHereICome · 10/02/2011 17:37

Grin at tooimmature getting your bump out in the sun! My second was back to back right up til labour but she turned during labour - I stayed upright, walking around and then when it got too much I was on all fours - seemed to work okay so try not to worry too much. This one is a little back to back too so I will do the same.

Sleep? sleep - what's that?! I am so uncomfortable at night too. I start on my left hugging my sausage shaped beanbag, then my hip and ribs ache so I wake up and manoeuvre myself to my right. When that hip aches I move the beanbag up into a V on the pillow and try to sleep sitting up while trying to breathe. Then I start again - the trouble is each change of position requires me to wake up, get up and readjust the pillows and then have a wee! I have SPD too which gives me pain over my pubic bone whenever I try to roll over or get out of bed. Glamorous I am not!! mendip there might not be much more sleep when the baby arrives but it will be nice to roll about in bed unhindered - leaky sore boobs and bits aside Blush!!

I didn't manage my nap - dd1 wouldn't have it, bless her she does like a woe is me moan when she doesn't feel well!

Larty74 · 10/02/2011 18:04

TooImmature and everyone else -

I feel your (hip) pain! The only way I can get some relief is to sleep nearly sitting up. This involves adding and rearranging many, many pillows in the middle of the night, but it does help! I call it my throne. Smile

Goldenbear · 10/02/2011 20:48

Hi, am I able to rejoin at such a late stage. I did mark my spot back in August but got left off the list and well, didn't return. I only have the internet on my phone and haven't got around to working out cut and paste on it but will do.

Anyway I am due on the 21st March and have one DS who is 3.7 years old.

I am 35 weeks on Sunday and told today that the baby is currently breech. Anyone else in this predicament?

I have been lurking to see how you are all doing so hope it's alright that I catch the bus at the last stop before the terminal?

Hattie05 · 10/02/2011 21:48

Welcome Goldenbear! course its ok to rejoin! i've kind of only become active recently since starting maternity leave.

I so agree with all the comments here about sleeping - i get the hip pain too. Our 4 year old has started getting into our bed in the middle of the night (has never done this before! she says she has nightmares) but she just climbs over one of us so we don't really hear her to put her back to bed, i'm just aware of an additional obstacle whilst tossing and turning to get comfortable! Oh the joys.

Braxton hicks have died down here, just got pelvis pain i think caused by head so engaged.

Mendip - how exciting for you! looking like you could be the first on the thread! Grin

This Sunday is sort out day, gotta get in loft and find car seat, moses basket etc. i hope that the activity will then bring on some labour bus i don't s'pose it will!

Take care all!

GeekLove · 10/02/2011 22:12

Catherine I'm glad your LO is okay could just have been having a quiet day. Mine was quite quiescent on Tuesday but was really wriggling after aquaerobics. Mind you that could have been the cup of coffee and the glass of cold water I was alternately drinking from.
As for ML I think I am doing well to accomplish one additional task per day other than pick DS from nursery. Today that was sending the big paddling pool to a new home and sorting out clothes for charity shop.
Anybody else on ML noticed that tasks expand to fill the day?

bluebeach · 11/02/2011 08:35

I'm not on ML yet, but don't work Fridays and come the end of the day I just stare forlornly at the list of things that I was definitely going to get done that day, having usually done possibly one or two things and quite often not even left the house.

37 weeks today and feeling the pubic pain! When I turn over in bed it feels like its going to snap in two! I have fashioned a big hard pillow from a rolled up sleeping mat stuffed with cushions and put in a pillow case. It's great as I was starting to need 3 pillows between my legs to keep up with my ever widening hips. I've gone from a size 8 hip to size 14 (to which my boyfriend points out I have nearly doubled in size)....this baby's gonna be walking out!!

Welcome back golden bear, good to see you in the home stretch. There seem to be lots of breach babies on here, though mines head down (and constantly head butting my bladder).

Well happy Friday everyone..now where's my list......

spaceal · 11/02/2011 09:17

Morning all. Had a tour of the maternity unit last night which was quite exciting/reassuring/scary! Heard at least one baby being born - a final shriek from mum before a baby cry, and another on its way in the birthing pool. There were a good few tiny babies around too. The unit seemed v nice and although we'd been told it's generally very busy, it seemed quite calm, and the staff were certainly all very friendly.

I've been reading around about induced labour, especially after my midwife told me it can get very intense very quickly and that lots of women leap quickly to an epidural (which in an ideal world I don't want to do), and I found a thread of positive stories over on Childbirth which made me feel a whole lot better.

Last day of work today but have only really got lots of little things to finish off, so it should be OK. And I'm so looking forward to not working Grin

Welcome back, goldenbear - my little one was breech at 35 weeks but to my surprise had turned by 35+4 without me either doing much to encourage her or my even noticing. She's now head down and 1/5th engaged at 36+1.

Looks like you might be our first mendip Smile Feb 23rd is my mum's 65th birthday!

Medee · 11/02/2011 09:36

Welcome goldenbear. To get baby round the right way is all about gravity, so make sure you sit upright, knees below your hips, sleep on your side (ideally the left), try sitting on a gym ball, go on all fours, be active, walk sideways upstairs ? basically anything that directs the head downwards and gives your baby some room to manoeuvre.

diyqueen · 11/02/2011 10:08

Hello. Like Goldenbear I've also been lurking on and off, due on 22nd March, so I hope it's OK to be another late joiner! Posting as I'd come on here just to see if anyone else's baby was breech as it happens, as mine is still and I'm starting to panic! spaceal, your story has given me hope - have spent a miserable week stressing myself out about the prospect of a caesarean and getting into all sorts of strange and uncomfortable positions at every opportunity to try and get the baby to turn. I'm booked in for a go at moxibustion tomorrow, never tried any alternative therapies before but am willing to give anything a try now! Anyone else with breech babies getting lots of rib pain? My baby is wedged solid between pelvis and ribs - bump is tiny - and I just can't imagine it finding room to turn but here's hoping!

angelbabe1982 · 11/02/2011 10:25

Hi everyone - its getting exciting that we'll have our first birth soon.
For all you breech baby ladies - DS was breech and turned by himself at 37 weeks Shock! Not an experience to repeat this time I hope! Lets enjoy our ML before it all kicks off :)

mendipgirl · 11/02/2011 10:53

Hi All, for the last coupld of days I keep getting period type pains...is this like BH contractions? ( I didn't get either last time so not sure). Do you think this is a sign of something happening or can they go on for weeks pre-birth?? Still haven't packed my bag but last day at work today so will get it doen this weekend!

re the breech babies, DD was but it wasn't diagnosed till I was in labour so we had an EMCS. I know it's not what anyone wants but be reassured the op itself was a good experience for me (hence I'm opting for an ELCS this time)everyone was lovely, we had our own music on and the baby comes out so quick that you are so focessed on them, getting photos taken by the nurses etc. that you don't really notice the time passing with them stitching you up etc. i hope all your babies turn in time but if not I just wanted to pass on a positive experience.

Welcome to Goldenbear and diyqueen as well, I've been absent for the last few months, but now I'm on maternity leave and in the final stretch I'm hoping to been on MN a bit more (if my 2yr old DD allows!!).

gem3225 · 11/02/2011 12:32

this is my third attempt at posting as i somehow seem to delete my posts before i send them Angry

hello everyone, glad to hear everyone is ok.
im 36+2 today and have had twinges all week and dull period like pains too, also lower back ache? should i be worried? or is the baby just getting into position. The other night i had very painful 5 minutes when at first i thought baby was turning but then it happened again few minutes later so i though it could be BH, but i dont know what they feel like. The pain was near the top of my bump not all around it , any ideas girls.

anyway im still at work till 21st feb, but feeling more uncomfortable these days and achey boobs are back.

Bought the carseat yesterday, maxi cosi in iron colour, as i like the little stars!!!

anyway got hospital tour tomorrow so should be good

gem3225 · 11/02/2011 12:42

mendip i didnt see your post before i sent mine.... i wonder if they are BH, i have no idea Hmm

StrangewaysHereICome · 11/02/2011 13:01

oooh people are twinging Grin!!

When I have BH's my whole bump goes very tight and I feel a bit breathless. They don't hurt but are getting more uncomfortable probably because bump and baby are bigger. I had more period type cramping last night with tightenings and then a sharp pain below my bump which lasted about a minute. So I thought things might be starting but once I was up and got the girls up and dressed nothing has happened since. I was reading the thread about quick labours, and scared myself a bit Shock!

gem I wonder if the pain at the top of the bump could be the baby poking you? Or could be BH I think people feel them in differents ways. HOpe the hosp visit is good too. Achey boobs are back here too.

mendip you are due the same day as me Grin so we can twinge together, although I know you are booked for your cs on 23rd we are still the same stage. It sounds like you are having similar to me. I have been having the cramps since Monday and nothing yet, so I think it might just be preparations rather than anything iminent! WHile I had BH's the first two times, these cramps are new as my other two labours started with my waters breaking. Keep us posted Smile. What happens if you go into labour before the 23rd?

hello to goldenbear and diyqueen the more merrier I say Grin. I hope your babies turn soon, and good luck with the moxibustion - let us know how it goes.

Jenchandler · 11/02/2011 13:14

Gosh how exciting, won't be long until we have our first baby!

I'm 35weeks today and am still not sleeping at night. I keep waking up needing to pee every 2 hours. I sleep much bettter on the sofa in the daytime!

since last night I've been having stabbing/burning pains that last a few seconds. They are quite deep and are very low down. Could this be the start of anything? It could just be the babies head pressing on something I guess. Any thoughts?

Hope all the babies turn soon. Whats moxibustion? Sounds exciting whatever it is!
x

bluebeach · 11/02/2011 13:29

Jenchandler, I'm getting similar stabby pains that feel like they are right in my bum. I've not had anything that I've thought has been BH but thinking this could either be baby punching my bum or me just needing a big poo, i'm not sure.

I'm banking on this baby not being early as I want to enjoy some mat leave so keeping my legs well and truly crossed. DP has started driving to work rather than getting the bus so he can rush home if anything happens. Every morning he wakes up saying 'i think it's going to be today'. We have a couple of hectic weeks with friends getting their final pre baby visits in, we don't have a weekend to ourselves at all now. Not sure that was the best of planning!

Been Valentines baking today which is dangerous as I now have a batch of shortbread hearts, and some heart shaped chocs sat in tupperware just crying out to be sampled (I've already scraped the chocolate bowl that probably had more chocolate in than actually went in the moulds...ooops).

Got to think of something to take to the bring and share NCT lunch tomorrow now!

cherub59 · 11/02/2011 13:46

3 hours of work left yippeee....!! getting loads of cramping and aches so will be glad to start leave....

only 1 central line journey left......

gem3225 · 11/02/2011 14:08

cherub your so lucky. enjoy it.

theres a few of us now who are all feeling like this so who knows what the weekend will bring!!!!

strangeways yes i thought if it was BH it would be the whole bump contracting.

bluebeach ooh stabbing pains, sounds a bit rough, hope you're ok.

Jupiter118 · 11/02/2011 14:36

goldenbear welcome back - we have same DD!!

Lots of breech babies on the thread. My LO is still breech - had 34 week appt yesterday (34+3 (although according to original LMP dates 35weeks?). Head near ribs (ouch) bum near belly button and then at least one foot rreally low - feels as if it might poke through - do hope not. She said that she thought it might not move without assistance = groan - really not keen on ECV. Have consultant appt to discuss in two weeks. Also asked what to do in case randomly go into labout and waters break early. She said as breech and as I might have too much fluid it is a get straight to hospital situation as risk of cord prolapse. Sounds bloody terrifying!! Still hoping it might turn and thinking of not venturing too far from home.

mothercare have a 10% discount at the mo if anyone interested - the online code is TKBS - bought a baby bjorn sling this morning. After I got them to price match Amazon, had my 10% and used the vouchers work gave me it cost me the grand total of £8. Am quite chuffed.

Also lots of twinges - who will be first!! Ok so I am clueles on this, but periody type pains - what do they mean?? Never had them with DS.

I have been having BH for a good long while, but my whole bump tightens with those. Yesterday I had period like cramps most of the afternoon and then again in the night - they have gone now, but 35 weeks is still a bit early. Nothing since. Did mention to the midwife who said if continuous should call the delivery suite.

To all those starting ML today - hurrah. And to all those yet to finish - hang in there.

Jx

KPidgeon · 11/02/2011 21:49

Thanks for the code Jupiter- that's kind of you to share. Shall have a look online now..

I have one more week in work and I'm so excited about finishing. This week has been hard work..trying to work on very little sleep is not easy.

I' 34 weeks this week so behind a lot of you I think. Haven't had anything like Braxton Hicks yet.

Anyone else suffering from heartburn? I'm having it pretty bad at night. Will see if my doctor can prescribe something safe on Monday at my next appointment. Anyone got any recommendations for it?

Muser · 11/02/2011 22:36

Gaviscon liquid. GP will prescribe it, don't go paying for it. I find propping my head up more when I sleep helps a lot as well.

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 12/02/2011 00:01

Yay, made it to full term! Good luck to everyone. Hope aches, pains, twinges and heartburn all ease and you have a good weekend.

rain1014 · 12/02/2011 08:40

Hi , Im a real late starter , but thought I would join.
Due 23/3/11 but will be having a induction at 37 weeks (crazy medical history)

Ive been reading all your posts and so happy to see that Im not the only one , I feel like Im going crazy or just being one big hypochondriac! This is after all my 3rd Im expecting , but never ever ever ever ever have I had a worse pregnancy when it comes to feeling damn right uncomfortable and pain , in places I didnt even know you could have pain!!!
I think its my payback for having it so good with my other two!!
And every single day I think oh sh1t I think Im going into labour............
Think I should change my name to drama queen!

JoJoB77 · 12/02/2011 09:22

Hi ladies

Very exciting to think we may have our first announcement soon! Wasn't it only last week when we took the pregnancy test?!

Bit of a moany post here so sorry in advance...I'm really struggling to sleep, or more get in a comfortable position enough to sleep and it's driving me crazy! I'm only 33+3 so can't believe how much bigger/uncomfortable I'm going to get!

I have 3 weeks left at work which wouldn't be quite so bad but combined with the fours hours travelling I do, it's becoming a struggle. I'm just toying with the idea of reducing my hours for the last few weeks or just try and stick it out Confused

Maybe I should stop moaning and enjoy it, as my DH kindly pointed out this morning Biscuit

Anyway, DH has gone to work so I'm going to get the chores out of the way and make time for a bit of pampering later, that should make me feel better.

Hope you are all well this morning and have lovely weekends x
