The other thread is a list Nicks

KTisPG · 01/02/2011 08:26

Hello everyone. I'm feeling very grumpy and unreasonable at the moment and I can't work out it its the hormones or the lack of sleep. I either wake up for the loo 4 times a night, or if I try to not drink I wake up desperate for a drink, so I can't win. Then my mind goes into overdrive and I can't get back to sleep for worrying about stupid stuff like losing my job or money Sad.

I've posted LittleMiss's list into the new dates Fred, which is here. Hopefully now everyones up to date and in the right order Smile

Yukana · 01/02/2011 08:32

Congratulations on your little bundles of love, MrsStevo!

PrettyVacant good luck with the scan! I'm sure you'll see a little live bean on there. I also agree with the last part of your post - I'm not going to be able to stop worrying until the baby is in my arms.

DP and I are convinced our baby is a girl, so we're both looking forward to the scan in March to let us know what the gender of the bean is.

I had a migraine all day yesterday, it seems my head dislikes main lights in rooms and prefers either dark rooms or lamps.

nickstermum · 01/02/2011 08:50

KT im so glad you said that... i am the same. Wake up for a wee, then mind is racing... so the last few days i have been up at either 3 or 4 am......! FFS

Good luck with the scan xx

MrsChemist · 01/02/2011 09:26

I hate the getting up for a wee. I worry about disturbing DS. Last night was particularly bad. DS is teething so woke at half one and took over an hour to settle. Then I needed a wee. Then I went to sleep and woke up twice after bad dreams.

KTisPG · 01/02/2011 09:30

I think I'm just freaked out because I've been told that maternity cover for my role is not automatic. But if they can cover my role without getting someone in to do it, ie by sharing it out between other people, doesn't that mean I don't have a role? Pregnancy paranoia perhaps because I know they have to keep my job open for me for at least 6 months, so then I'm thinking I'll have to go back at 6 months rather than 9 months when my SMP runs out (finances permitted). DH is a SAHD and I'm the only wage earner, so I really don't want to find myself facing redundancy.

In all likelyhood we will get cover anyway, because my line manager is putting together a business case, but I can't help worrying.

Someone please tell me I'm being stupid!

DUE DATE LIST

LadyGoneGaga · 01/02/2011 12:53

KT I think the law is that they legally HAVE to keep your role open for a year. Otherwise tehy have to offer you a similar role on the same terms and conditions.

And if they make redundencies they can't pick you because you are on maternity leave/pregnant. They would have to give other grounds and it probably wouldn't stand up in court. Of course if they made your whole dept redundant then you could be made redundant too but they would be on extremely shaky legal ground if the former.

I have to get up for a wee at 3am every day! And then DS wakes me up a couple of times too for me to take him for a wee and then resettle. Grrr.

KLou111 · 01/02/2011 13:25

Maybe KT they can't afford to pay someone to do your job while you are away on Mat leave.

That's how I believe it Lady, they can't make you redundant on maternity leave. They can however ask if you are planning to return to work I believe, because if you are not, they can offer you the rest of your pay, and a redundancy package. Not sure if it's the same 100% with every company, but a friend of a friend worked for Aston Martin when they were making redundancies, she was on maternity leave and told them she was not planning to return so would rather they let her go, and she got a fab package and all her maternity pay in a lump sum :)

Re the weeing, I seem to be getting better now with the whole getting up numerous times. I am down to twice now despite drinking about 4 pints of liquid between 8 and 12.

Hoping all the scans coming go smoothly xxx

PrettyVacant1 · 01/02/2011 16:34

Mini boxer bouncing away in here!
DP just sat there with his mouth open and then grinned giving me a hoooouge kiss.
Just skiving in work, hope everyone is well, catch up later.
Eeeeeek, this is getting real!

Rehune · 01/02/2011 17:12

WoW! I have a load to catch up on. So many of you have had scans already! Have been remiss at this after working 11 hour days these past two weeks! Coming home and collapsing into bed.

I have my first ante natal appointment on 7th Feb at Queen Charlotte's - they say it will be three hours long and that I will not be getting a scan that day. Is that normal? Am excited but also a bit scared. DH has taken a day off to come with me. He seems more into the whole thing than me sometimes (for which I feel slightly guilty about)

Still have no cravings although it seems I have to eat something almost constantly!

littlemisslozza · 01/02/2011 17:51

Brilliant news prettyvacant!
Wow, 3 hours is a long appt rehune, my booking appts have been around 1 hour. You'll have to let us know what they do!

Rehune · 01/02/2011 18:02

Yeah littlemisslozza I thought that too but it could because I am already 12/13 weeks and this is my first appointment! I am currently hunting for a container to take in the urine sample!

Firawla · 01/02/2011 18:38

pretty vacant glad your scan went well

rehune 3 hours seems a lot!! i think booking apts take longer the more dc you have already had as you have all your previous birth infos to fill in and childrens health info but even then i doubt it would go on for 3 hours maybe they are very thorough at your hospital! anyway hope it goes well

CappuccinoCarrie · 01/02/2011 18:42

PV that's wonderful news! Grin

rehune I just popped into our GP's surgery and asked the receptionist for a sample pot, which they handed over without asking any questions! Maybe as your booking in is at a hospital you might have to another dept for bloods which is why they allow so long?

I'm going to try and phone to book my scan tomorrow, technically not 'allowed' to book til Friday, but hey, I can try!

I've realised that the sickness is really starting to fade now, although the funny taste in the mouth is still there. But that in itself is worrying as I was sick til 18 weeks with DD and 20 weeks with DS...

I've been taking folic acid for a year and a half now, and I've run out at 11+4 days pg, how organised is that?!!

CappuccinoCarrie · 01/02/2011 18:43

And someone guessed I was pg this morning purely on the basis of my increased (.)(.) size Blush

Bryher · 01/02/2011 18:56

Yay to all those with recent scans :) I just had mine today - thought I was 11+3, but have now been changed to bang on 12 weeks, so new due date 16th August. Really relieved to see little bean waving at us, and trying to hide behind the placenta - camera shy bless him/her! I am now officially pregnant - we've announced it on Facebook!

Welcome to all the newbies
Anu3 - about when to tell work, you need to notify them at least 15 weeks before the start of the week that your baby's due to be born, but you may want to tell them earlier so they can provide more support, paid time off for antenatal appointments etc. This website has some useful info:

www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/953.aspx?CategoryID=54&SubCategoryID=138

Firawla · 01/02/2011 19:17

carrie i wouldn't worry too much as they normally say sickness supposed to wear off about 12 weeks ish, so its more like the previous times you were just more unlucky. same for me i was sick til about 22, 24 weeks kinda time and this time nausea seemed to have worn off by 11, 12 weeks (although last couple of days is back but i dont know if thats cos we have sick bug in the house)
so i would just take it as a good thing if your sickness is going, im sure it doesn't necessarily mean there is a problem

bellamysbride · 01/02/2011 19:22

Hi all. Congrats on scans everyone. I have been steering clear as am waiting for my scan (monday). Still feeling cruddy and both myself and DS were grumpy sods today.

I got the Erin o'brien pregnancy workout DVD yesterday though (as recommended on another thread). I really rate it, it got me a bit out of breath and really lifted my mood.

MrsV just read your thread on being pregnant with a toddler Grin, made me giggle!

bellamysbride · 01/02/2011 19:25

Oooooh and 3 hours for an antenatal appt?? What the heck are they going to do to you? Or is it for booking appt, scan and bloods? Mind you, as far as my DP was aware mine took three hours. He was looking after DS so I took the opportunity for a quiet latte and iced bun! He must think our hospital waiting times are awful!

spilttheteaagain · 01/02/2011 20:17

I like your style bella!

Congrats on your scan prettyvacant.

I've been lurking over the last week or so and just too damn tired to actually post. That is pathetic isn't it?!

So, hmmm, am tired, nauseous, thirsty, peeing, aching and hungry. Hoping it means all is well Grin

wheresmytractor · 01/02/2011 21:06

Bryher and Yukana thanks so much,Smile I am half way through reading all ive missed and had to just say thanks and then i'll continue updating. It means a lot that you took the time to reply to my post and offer some support. DH is a bit better, he has basically broken down to his line manager at work (she was very shocked) and they are now able to support him. He is still looking for other jobs though. Will update more in a mo x x x

wheresmytractor · 01/02/2011 21:32

Hi all,

Had my scan on Monday, I am now 13 weeks tomorrow and due on the 10th August. It was lovely to see little fluff in there wriggling about Grin I am feeling fine at the moment, a bit tired but pretty well. Still in my 'fat' clothes rather than maternity (my weight fluctuates) but feel it won't be long!

Good luck to all you lovely ladies x

wheresmytractor · 01/02/2011 21:33

ps how to you see/post scan pics?

Firawla · 02/02/2011 09:07
