Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
KTisPG · 25/01/2011 11:34

I've given up and am eating my lunch

littlemisslozza · 25/01/2011 11:53

Well I wasn't dreaming, there is a tiny baby in there! Had my scan this morning and s/he was wriggling and waving and looking perfect. Brilliant experience, even though it's the third one it's still as exciting! Had the nuchal scan and bloods done too. We don't think we would do anything if they came back high risk but would rather be prepared.

They put me back a few days which is no surprise, so my new EDD is the 15/8/11, although I'll be having an ELCS sometime during the week before.

Ages now until the next scan, 31st March when I will be 20+3.

Glad to hear all is well for you as well spilt and lilac and welcome to feral!

KLou111 · 25/01/2011 11:56

So glad your scan went great split

Welcome Feral and congrats!!

KT re the downs situ, myself and DH have had a very long and in depth conversation as to what we would do if it turned out we were high risk, had an amnio and it came back positive. We have decided that we could not bring a child up that had such a disability that we were aware of. Yes it does sound selfish, but I grew up with a girl who's younger sister was downs so I have seen personally what it does to a family not only throughout the childs life, but after she died at 18.
They did give her the best possible life she could have, and it was a good one, but there is no denying they did struggle.
If the child had something wrong that was not picked up before birth, however, we would just have to cope. Having a healthy child is a life changing decision as it is.
I'm sorry, but you did ask, and I wouldn't judge anyone for making the same decision.

littlemissw · 25/01/2011 11:56

For any of you that might be interested - Boden has just launced a maternity range for the first time. Can't say that I'm particularly impressed. Hmm

Why would you be scared Yuk no judging going on here!! x

Yukana · 25/01/2011 12:19

So relieved to hear that. Blush Although it was unplanned, very much wanted and I was over the moon when I found out.

I feel kind of like topics like these become little homes of ours. Very comforting to know that so many others will be due around the same time, so it's a fab idea. :)

littlemissw · 25/01/2011 12:21

Best update the list with my new due date too.

Hopefully by the time we have to start a new thread we would all have had our scans & new due dates (if they changed) & maybe we could have this as the first post, so its always at the top of the page?

I couldnt agree with you more Yuk My baby werent planned either... and I'm a single parent who will still be single as 'father' isnt ready to be a 'dad' yet Hmm. I already have two kiddies, and sure they will be a big help to me.

I seem to live on here at the moment because I genuinly want to know everyone's well and scans are going well etc. And its nice to know that someone - even if it is only one person is going/gone through something similar to you are is speaking/typing from experience int it?? Smile

bettyboo83 · 25/01/2011 12:28

Hello everyone, I've just had a run of horible shifts at work so haven't had chance to catch up with everyone.

Congrats on everyone's scans! My first scan is on Thursday and I'm terrified now Confused It feels soooo long since I did a test that I worry they'll have a look and ther'll be nothing there.

I feel the same as you KTisPG, I wouldn't have an amnio so we've decided not to have the nuchal scan or bloods to avoid additional worry for the rest of the pregnancy. It's a completely personal choice though.

Who's planning on finding out whether it's a pink or blue bump? I don't want to know but DP really does so it's a bone of contention at the mo. I've told him that the sonographer won't tell him if I don't want to know so he's a bit grumpy about that!

I've been laughing at everyone's food cravings. I just crave all food all the time! I feel so round already and although DP kindly says it's the baby I'm afraid it's just flab! I get married 12 weeks after my current due date so will have to crash diet into my wedding dress Hmm Wish me luck!

Loving OBEM and am fancying a water birth too, although there's only one pool at my local hospital and I don't really fancy a home birth. I also cried as each baby was born, but then I cried at an advert the other day so it means nothing Grin

Sorry for long post, got carried away!! Bye for now xxx

SelinaDoula · 25/01/2011 12:31

I'm pretty much a single Mum too. Enjoying a subway tuna sandwich at the mo!

daisysair · 25/01/2011 12:39

yakuna no judgement at all re your age!

re the downs testing. no nuchal offered here but i will have the blood tests and take it from there. I was not impressed with the consultants obvious anti stance on termination though-that's every family's own decision. he even suggested giving up for adoption intead of termination-i'm not even faced with the decision yet and know I'll be lucky to do 1 full term pregnancy in my life (thanks to health) so I was Shock at the whole "convo".

I've just had the date through for my 12 week scan - next thursday (3rd!). Hope the image is better than at the 10 week (twice as big by then), as I was pretty disappointed and no wriggling either...

Yukana · 25/01/2011 12:41

LittleB My mother is also single. Funnily enough, I've always imagined myself to be a single mother through-and-through and to look after any children myself. Though reality was quite different, I have a partner and a very supportive family as well as overly-excited friends.
As for the father of the kids, Hmm from me on that one as well. Though saying that, DP took ages to be thinking positively at all about the baby, and he's had one in a previous relationship!

I regularly come on here now, it's nice to be able to do my part and give others advice or a shoulder to lean on if they need to.

On another note, DP is cooking lunch and I'm having pasta. Grin Looking forward to it.

bellamysbride · 25/01/2011 12:44

Really, really glad everyones scans have gone well. I think my 12 week scan with DS was one of the most wonderful moments of my life.

We haven't yet discussed what we would do if the combined test came back with a high risk. Last time I was adamant that it wouldn't matter and I would continue with the pregnancy unless the baby was going to suffer in utero. This time I am just not sure. I need to get thinking about it. It is made even more real by the fact that my very dear friend had a low risk at her 12 week scan but at the 21 week scan a heart problem was found that suggested downs syndrome, she had an amnio which came back positive. They decided to terminate and although it was a very clear cut decision for them as a family it still had major repercussions. It is so difficult and to think very few of our parents would even have had scans.

Anyways after that deep monologue, I have to go and make a tiger costume to dress an unwilling DS in.

Bettyboo how exciting to be getting married with baby in tow. Have you had wedding dress fittings etc?

KLou111 · 25/01/2011 12:48

New craving today, having a pancake with lemon and sugar, not had one is AGES! WTH is it with all these different things I am fancying that I've not had in a long time lol?

Went on freenappies.co.uk or .com and you can get a huge box of 104 pampers with a referral to a friend, so think we should all start doing that too (referring each other I mean). I've not got my confirmation email yet though.x

Sorry Yuk this baby has a different dad to my previous two. They see him pretty regular, but this one is all mine!! ha I do actually have a very supportive family but I'm not going to expect too much from them as they all work and have their own lives they need to be getting on with. The way I see it is people have coped with much worse than this... I'll be fine!! Thanks for your kinds words!!

KLou111 I too now want pancakes and lemon and sugar mmm...

daisysair I cant wait for your scan chicky!! To see if you get another new date Wink

No judgement here, Yukana. My DS was unplanned and in a relationship I'd only been in for 6 weeks Blush. At the age of 29 I really should have known better. But wouldn't have changed him for the world now. I ended up as a single Mum for a while which was tough but also lovely and now with my gorgeous DP (who I also went out with back when I was your age - funny how things turn out!).

Congratulations on all the lovely scans. So lovely. Grin

That is a really good idea KLou111 - friend!! haha Wink

hello all. I am confessing on here that whilst waiting in my car with the baby asleep, to meet a friend for lunch. I have purchased and just eaten 4 fresh doughnuts from a stall. Covered in sugar and the most delicious thing i.ve eaten in ages.

Yukana · 25/01/2011 13:01

betty Me and DP will be finding out, probably because being so excited would send me over the edge and I'd want to know. Plus friends are so excited they're asking me right and left to tell them when I find out. Good luck, I'm sure the wedding dress will look wonderful on you so don't worry too much!

daisy I agree, even if our personal decision is different, that decision is no one elses but the mother's own. Did they assume that if the test was positive for downs the mother would want to abort/give up for adoption? In itself that makes me feel rather sad. Good luck with the scan and thank you for the supportive words. :)

Klou
Will definitely try that. Ah now I'm all excited again, over nappies no less!

LittleB
Will try that too.~ Yes, that's true. I'm not expecting too much support but I expect I will end up calling my mother and grandmother a few times to ask questions here and there. Talking of my grandmother, I'm finding it highly amusing that she's excited, but trying to hide it. (And failing at it, we all know she loves babies).

LittleBeaut · 25/01/2011 13:02

Mmm... I want doughnuts and pancakes now!! What exactly are you confessing to MrsV

Hey all, so glad to know that everyone's scans are going well and welcome to the newbies.
I finally have my scan date through for this Friday (28th) when I'll be 12+1. Can't wait to see my baby, hope all is well in there Confused We have gone for the combined nuchal test, and as for the results, we've adapted a "cross that bridge when we come to it" approach.

Yukana I see you're from Somerset, whereabouts?
