nomorechoc ahh I think I have you confused with someone else as I thought you were relocating. Good luck anyway with the move. I am moving in 2 weeks - eeeek... very exciting!

banana I'm so pleased your scan went well. Congrats on expecting a girl. :)

My scan can't come round soon enough either - a week on Wednesday!

Bought some sleepsuits from Sainsburys yesterday... have quite a little collection going now!

Also looking for a baby gym thing and other stuff on ebay but they don't really seem like bargains to me? Has ebay got pricey??

OP posts:
swannny · 21/01/2011 14:05

neenewps Try Gumtree, I found some AMAZING bargains... not to mention my £80 brand new cotbed from a guy down the road who delivered it and all :) xx

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 21/01/2011 15:06

I meant to say, whoever mentioned the E45 itchy scalp shampoo (sorry forgotten who) Thank you. I got some last week (buy one get 1 half price even) and am back to an itch free head. I was a couple of days away from scratching my scalp off.

Jasmine2011 · 21/01/2011 16:27

Hi...I noticed many of you are from Oxfordshire - the same as me! :-) Tuesday marked 6 months of pregnancy for me...this is my first time round and my baby is on her way in May. I currently live in Cowley but will be moving to Didcot shortly. Hello!...and how are you all?x

jasmine51 · 21/01/2011 19:17

Oh no, two Jasmines in Oxfordshire...this could get confusing! Hello Jasmine I'm just down the road from you too! Unless you are me and I've been sleep-mumsnetting again?

'Stuff count' for today is 3 moses baskets and a baby bath. Lisa I'll see if there's anyone down there tomorrow and yes there are definietly M&P car seats there...will just collect the whole lot and worry about the mounting pile in my spare room later!

Am just washing a load of the covers from some of the bouncy chairs...lots of teddy bear faces going round in the washing machine...so sad!

bananarama05 · 21/01/2011 19:36

Ooh thanks for all the girl congrats but I must have mis-lead everyone, we didn't found out! Going to book our 4d scan tonight though so that may change. £75 including a 10 minute video, I didn't think that was too bad?

neenewps I find ebay very hit and miss, look back in a week or so and I bet you find some good stuff.
There's several cots going for about £20 round my way that look quite good and I'm contemplating a play pen (hadn't even thought about getting one til I saw it but might not be a bad plan with the dog still being young) which ends tonight and with no bids on is only £25.

jbells · 21/01/2011 19:49

banana- u can get playpens in home and bargain, asda and wilkinsons for around 20-25 pound

bananarama05 · 21/01/2011 19:52

ooh i shall have to have a look, thanks jbells I think the ebay one ends in about 10 minutes anyway!

CitizenOscar · 21/01/2011 20:29

Yes CMH1stbaby lots of "longest day of the year" jokes here too Hmm, but to be fair most people have said "oh, a summer baby, how lovely". As a winter baby myself (many years ago!) I try not to take offence Wink.

Clarkiee · 21/01/2011 21:07

Oh My God I love shopping but is anyone else finding the amount of stuff you need to buy mindblowing- I don't know where to start Shock

treez10 · 21/01/2011 21:38

Banarama05 - congrats on your scan - sounds like it was fab. I can't wait - our scan is on 16th feb which feels like aaaages away. My friend had a 4d scan recently and the pics are amazing!
swannny - thanks for your message - will reply but I am just off to bed as I have a very early start tomorrow :(
jasmine51 how is your growing mountain of free baby stuff? Wink You did very well there. I am just imagining all those poor bear faces tumbling round and round :o

Is anyone else expecting baby number 2 or are you all on your first?

Pelvic floor reminder everyone!! Wink

jbells · 21/01/2011 21:57

treez- im on baby no2

bananarama05 · 21/01/2011 22:25

Ebay bid number one done Grin Cot bed for £20, 1st bidder and 1 day left to go.

Got my eye on one of these www.johnlewis.com/230200640/Product.aspx plus the footstool for the bargain price of £100 too (Would be £450 off the JL website!!) but can't quite bring myself to part with that much just yet so am just watching it for the time being.

treez and everyone for that matter, please keep the pelvic floor reminders up...I have to confess to having done barely any yet!

mouffloncake · 21/01/2011 23:22

Sorry all. I need to get this day out of my head......

Police have confirmed my friend has been murdered. She was strangled by ther bf who hung himself. I can't get the thought out of my head. She has two children.

Went for consult with epidural doc who told me I wouldn't be able to have one due to the major spinal surgery I had 11yrs ago. Suggested remifentanil as pain management altho they only use this once or twice per year. Anybody know anything about this medication?
(Really lovely consultant tho)

Mum, told me tonight she's getting married to my stepdad. Nice bit of news but totally unexpected.

Ah. My head is all over the place tonight x

DaisyFields · 21/01/2011 23:35

Oh Moufflon, I'm so so sorry. That's awful, are you on your own or do you have somebody to talk to? I don't know what else to say. :( xxx

mouffloncake · 21/01/2011 23:42

Dh is looking after me. I feel really weird :/
I know nothing can be done. Just needed to get it all out of my head x

LisasCat · 22/01/2011 07:38

Moufflon, so sorry for your brain-melting day. That's a lot to come at you in a short space of time. I hope you've had a good sleep and today brings a bit of calm your way.

It sounds like fun, all the shopping people are getting up to. I was quite proud of myself for never having been 'sucked in' by all the endless lists of useless crap you 'absolutely must' get for a baby - first time round because I simply couldn't afford it, and this time because having done this once before, I know how much of the stuff out there actually isn't necessary. But then yetsreday I mentioned to DP that my bump is constantly aching, the ligaments all around seem to be pulling too much (and I do still give in and carry DD sometimes - naughty mummy) so perhaps I should get one of those bump slings to re-distribute some of the strain of the bump so it doesn't get worse as it gets bigger. He just laughed at me and told me I was finally giving in to all the baby marketing and buying something useless. His solution? Wouldn't a tight jumper do the same thing! My response? WHEN (not if) you have a huge beer belly and you start to develop stretch marks and get back ache from carrying this extra weight, THEN you can telll me about the miraculous healing properties of a tight jumper! His poor little face - he's now utterly convinced he's going to age badly and I'll stop fancying him.

knackered76 · 22/01/2011 07:53

Moufflon - oh my gosh, no words to says :( How awful for you and those who knew and loved your friend. Thinking of you and wishing you strength to get through the coming days and weeks x

I have no knowledge of what your consultant suggests. Have you posted on the main board?

KaraStarbuckThrace · 22/01/2011 08:06

Oh Moufflon, I am so sorry about your friend, what a waste of a life Sad and her poor, poor children, how heartbreaking for them.

Just popped in to say everything went okay with the scan. It's a girl!

takethatlady · 22/01/2011 08:24

moufflon oh my gosh that is so terrible. I hope her two little ones have got healthy and supportive father/grandparents/aunties/uncles etc who will be able to take care of them. And I hope your supportive-sounding DH takes care of you while you get your head round this. Really really sorry Sad

kara congratulations on your baby girl! I am getting so Envy of everyone who knows the sex now ... I can't wait to find out. 2 weeks 2 days 2 weeks 2 days 2 weeks 2 days ...

lisascat I reckon you should make your DH wear the biggest heaviest beanbag you can find strapped around his belly for a day Grin Interested to know what stuff is essential though, and what stuff definitely isn't!

jasmine51 · 22/01/2011 08:33

moufflon take care, what a horrible thing to have happened
kara yay for a girl, time for the pink paint chart?

Question - with a second hand moses basket, do I have to (can I) replace the mattress? Its a mothercare one so should be no probs getting one, but is the advise the same as replacing cot mattresses?

The mound continues to grow -am about to go down there for a last time to rescue any half decent travel systems. I want to sell these and donate the money to the FMU at the JR.

takethatlady · 22/01/2011 09:07

jasmine tell us what you pick up - I can imagine a lot of us will buy stuff from you if we're looking for stuff already!

misshoohaa · 22/01/2011 09:21

Morning all!
Kara congrats on the little girl, how was the scan otherwise?

Mine was great, didn't find out the flavour, I'm keen on a surprise when the time comes but have to admit I did have a cheeky look in that area but no idea, the little worm was wriggling around everywhere!

I also assumed I needed to drink a stack of water which the sonographer told me I didn't when I walked in with a giant water bottle so had to go and wee halfway through the scan as the baby had its head wedge inbetween my very full bladder and other bits.
So cute though, got some great photos and we kept saying stupid things out loud like 'it's a real baby' and 'it's grown so much' stating the bleeding obvious I know but those scans are just such a reality check of what is growing in my tummy! Its little feet were so adorable, I know someone else said that, and they were right - they really were the cutest little feet ever!

It sounds like the majority are finding out sex, we should add that to the stats next time we update perhaps?

I really can't wait for June but then loving being pregnant too so am just in the happiest place ever! Life is gooooood!

Have a great weekend. Grin

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 22/01/2011 09:31

Wow Moufflon that really is terrible news. Take your time digesting it and vent at us any time you need. Can't help you with the pain relief question though sorry.

Jas it is recommended that you replace any mattresses, but like you say they aren't to hard to come by.

I had a dream about my 20 week scan last night (it's this coming Thursday). I recall being a bit annoyed they didn't show us the screen or tell us anything and that the pics were only of the face. But then I realised that the face was really clear and looked a lot like DH and was really cute. Awww.

Sarahmumtobe · 22/01/2011 09:32

moufflon so sorry to hear about such sad news-again glad DH is looking after you, and really hope those poor children have someone to care for them.

Hello all newcomers-it's very exciting-after all our scans we can update our stats again!

Great news for all the lovely scans and gender finding! I'm still on my countdown to Tuesday!!!!!
Heard back from GP re: lepto and since I'm allergic to a number of antibiotics I'm not going to take any. Feel fine so fingers crossed all ok.

Anyone else have insomnia? This whole week I have not been sleeping, but then it gets to morning and I feel like I could sleep forever!
