KaraStarbuckThrace · 17/01/2011 17:33

I'm sure Nurse might be busy with studying, but wasn't she also having to find somewhere else to live?

jasmine51 · 17/01/2011 17:43

WTF - I've just eaten a whole punnet of strawberries. My diet today has gone haywire, wonder what bub is asking for - cheese on crackers and strawberries...its like a flashback to first trimester.

Off now to aquanatal...hmmm, a nice chloriney chemical cocktail to add to the mix!

Crumble good point. Shall we all shout NURSESUNSHINE panto style to see if she hears us?!

mouffloncake · 17/01/2011 19:15

Hello all!

Just back from a very relaxed two weeks in Cyprus. Ahhhh.
I've read all pages & now completely forgot who said what.

Tomorrow, I have my 20wk scan & am so excited.
Started feeling movement at the end if week 15 although I didn't know that was it at the time.
Dh felt it for the 1st time while we were away & tells me off when I start prodding lol.

jasmine I want to start aquanatal, you recommend it then? I miss my gym classes & was unto 11 per week before the ms kicked in at week 6.

Is anybody else still getting sick btw? How are every ones itchies?

I'm self employed so think I can only take 11wks maternity allowance?
Not sure when to work up until, wish I had a crystal ball.

Dh gained many brownie points over Xmas for treating me to a yummy mummy spa day at the Sanctuary. He said it was because I spend all day pampering others & deserved a bit myself! Can't wait to get it booked.

Clarkiee · 17/01/2011 21:15

You lucky lady mouffloncake Grin

Whole punnet of Strawberries Jasmine woah- least it sounds like you are eating healthy stuff. I still can't get enough of milk- it's brilliant (remember that advert).

BPrincess · 17/01/2011 21:20

Hi all, and Jasmine! Strawbs must be a good thing - at least it's not chips or cakes eh.

Clarkie I'm loving the milk too at the moment - and fruit juice.

Can anyone reassure me... all of a sudden I'm feeling massive - and I mean massive. I'm 21 weeks and to me I look like someone who's 7 months pregnant. Someone gave me their seat on the bus today, and it didn't really make me happy. And I've started getting tingly fingers and feet too, occasionally. I googled this and it seems kind of normal but I'm just worried if I'm like this now, what will I be like at 7 months, 8 months and further... Aaagh!

Thanks in advance!

bananarama05 · 17/01/2011 21:38

BPrincess some lovely person exclaimed to me (20 weeks) the other day "Wow you're going to be absolutely massive by the time you're due aren't you?". Thanks, thanks a lot! I just gritted my teeth and laughed whilst wishing I was having a slightly more hormonal day and could justify a comment back :)

Quick question ladies, when is nesting meant to start? I thought it was a late on thing... I started emptying my dishwasher yesterday (my only day off this week, to you know, be productive and get everything round the house done) and 3 1/2 hours later I'd cleared out 3 cupboards including my big under stairs pantry, cleaned the top of my fridge, cleaned the top of my (stacked) tumble dryer, spent a good 45 20 minutes cleaning my shiny stainless steel spice rack and toaster, de-scaled my kettle...I could go on. I would like to add I'm normally a complete heathen and would laugh in the face of anyone suggesting this as a way of spending Sunday afternoon!

milliemuffin · 17/01/2011 21:38

Hi ladies, glad to hear you're all keeping well, apart from some itching which I'm also getting particularly on my lower back where I also happen to have quite a large tattoo.

Knackered - noticed you're quite local to me - will you be going to Lister hospital?

I saw MW today, nice strong heartbeat but DD was really clingy at the appointment so made it a little awkward. She is just getting over chicken pox though. She caught it 13 days after DS so at least that's them two out the way!

DPs 40th birthday on wednesday so lots of wrapping etc to do tomorrow. Unfortunately DD is still too spotty and possibly still contagious (her spots appeared on Thursday) to take out so not sure what we're going to do on his day off.

Have a good week, night all xx

sasamaxx · 17/01/2011 21:41

Ooohhh strawberries sound good.....

Good point - where on earth is Nurse Sunshine??

I have taken to eating the same sized dinner as DH (who is 6'2" and stocky) followed by 2 croissants with butter and jam Blush

smellyeli · 17/01/2011 21:51

Thank you for all your welcomes!
I have ordered a gym ball from e-bay (extra large, to cope with my extra-largeness) and can't wait for it to arrive - I had SPD with both previous pregnancies and I think it's coming back with a vengeance.....

BPrincess I can totally sympathise with feeling massive - I fell like I look about 6 months pregnant. I am at the stage where my lower tummy fat is starting to join with my upper tummy fat but I don't feel that it's quite a 'bump' yet - more just folds and folds! One of my (very young and never pregnant) colleagues said on Friday 'Oh my God if you're this big now how big will you be in June?' Hmmm. Tactful. Though I was wearing a dress which made me look pregnant before I was actually pregnant. At least if people are offering you seats on the bus they realise that you are pregnant - whereas I just look mostly like I've been at the pies. Which I haven't, promise - main cravings this time around are marmite and mangoes.

knackered76 · 17/01/2011 22:40

Millie - Yes, well the midwife centre which I'm hoping is a bit more complete by June! Was there today for my scan. My ds was born there but my dd was at qe2 in Welwyn Garden. Are you there as well?

milliemuffin · 18/01/2011 07:46

Knackered Both mine were there but both times I'd planned for a home birth. I would like to try again but if not I don't mind trying out the new centre :) I'm just the other side of town so I'll probably just decide when the time comes but won't be leaving it so late this time! I was concentrating so hard on getting through the contractions it didn't even occur to me that baby could be on it's way so we ended up being taken in by ambulance and as soon as I walked into the room I shouted 'he's coming'! (I was convinced it was a boy).

I worked for Bounty taking photos of the newborns for 18 months so I remember how dark and dingy it used to be with those god awful orange curtains but I've heard it's pretty nice now.

Glad your scan went well xx

KaraStarbuckThrace · 18/01/2011 07:55

Hello all. Feeling pretty miserable as bad cold has arrived on the heels of the last one Sad
It appears to be in my sinuses because they ache :(

And I threw up my brekkie this morning.

Shock and Angry about people's tactless comments about your bumps! What is it with people, do they think because you are pregnant it is okay to make such rude comments?

Moufflon - glad you enjoyed your holiday! Sounded lovely! BTW you can claim MA up to 39 weeks, but you can only start claiming 11 weeks before your due date. Can you afford to take much time of? Is it just you are do you have other therapists working for you?

jasmine51 · 18/01/2011 08:53

Kara sorry to hear about your cold. Mine has just resurfaced so I know how miserable it is. Take it easy

Moufflon what is the climate like in Cyprus this time of year? DH wants to grab a break in a few weeks time and Cyprus is an option as long as I dont end up having to buy masses of large sun clothes (might be mistaken for a beach ball)

I'm feeling really guilty today. Went to aquanatal last night (love it) and was delighted to find a lady there also at 20 wks who had a HUGE bump. It could have been twins but I didnt ask - just pleased not to have people gasping when I tell them I'm only 19 wks. However I do feel rotten for being judgemental.

My rule for the day...step away from Ebay...you dont need it!

Merlion · 18/01/2011 08:57

HI all just catching up. Just back from my 20 week scan. Everything fine and we're having a girl! Very very excited.

milliemuffin · 18/01/2011 09:03

Congrats Merlion thats great news :)

jasmine51 · 18/01/2011 09:29

Yay Merlion - thats lovely...off to check out the pink paint charts then?!

jbells · 18/01/2011 09:40

merlion- yay a girl how lovely

moufflon- also just wanted to say im sure u can claim MA for 39 weeks, i havnt been with my current employer long enuf to get smp but will get MA for 39 months which is the same amount as SMP u can print off the forms that u need to fill in online, i have printed mine but havnt filled them in yet

kara- thats rubbish that u have another cold, i suffered with them really bad in my first pg, luckily havnt been affected so far (touch wood)

KaraStarbuckThrace · 18/01/2011 09:47

Jasmine - thanks, hope yours gets better too!
I agree about ebay sometimes it is false economy as you end up buying loads!
South mediterrean should be nice, quite mild this time of year.
Hoping to get to aquafit tomorrow may be the chlorine will help clear my sinuses!!

moomin156 · 18/01/2011 10:03

Does anyone else feel they are not 'blossoming'.....i am so tired and miserable in this 2nd trimester compared to the first 12 weeks that i breezed through. I want to glow and have energy. :)
Maybe its a general winter blues than pregnancy related.....fed up with work, want some nice sunshine ( no chance now to go abroad), awaiting news on DH's posting. I hope its not pg related and ususal January blues

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 18/01/2011 10:42

I remember someone some where along the lines in the last few months saying that British Brie is safe to eat as it's made with pasturised milk. So when I found a Somerser Brie a few days back into the shopping basket it went. Am now scoffing daintily eating a lot little for my morning tea while shopping looking for maternity swimming togs online. Grin bliss.

Hope those of you feeling yuck or down feel better soon.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 18/01/2011 10:44

I found a Somerset Brie. No idea where Somerser is.

swannny · 18/01/2011 11:00

Hey Ladies

Not been around the past couple of days. Been mega busy at work.

So I got my Flu jab today. I'm not overly happy that I had to have last years strain as they'd run out of this years. I waited 3-4 weeks for this appointment and they could have at least called me to tell me that they'd run out in case I wanted to make alternative arrangements... which I did.

My docs have just been shocking from the start and I just want to scream. It's horrid as the lady I saw for my antenatal today was so good too... So confused :(

Well... Anyway, I'm not covered for the seasonal flu... NICE!!!

Hope you're all having a better day than I am :)

xxx

moomin156 · 18/01/2011 11:01

Nomore i have eaten french and english brie / camembert as long as its pasteurised. Just been checking the label :)

jasmine51 · 18/01/2011 11:16

I hate to be a party pooper but I dont think tis the pasteurised bit that is important about the brie, I think its the mould ripened rind that is the problem. Its on my MW list of cheeses not to eat because of the rind...but I would love to know if she is wrong...I could kill a camambert!

moomin156 · 18/01/2011 11:19

jasmine my midwife said pasteurised brie is fine.......
