A shiny new thread for a shiny new year. Grin

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
snowangels1 · 09/01/2011 16:20

needto that's EXACTLY what I did a few weeks ago (if you remember???). There was a loud click and then lots of back pain and I couldn't move or twist back for a day or so. Have to say that after a day of finding it hard to move and a terribly painful nights sleep it did get better quite quick. Let that be a warning to you all - don't reach anything from out of your bed Wink (I was picking up a glass of water from bedside table when it happened).

snowangels1 · 09/01/2011 16:21

It really is quite dangerous being pg Wink Grin

knittakid · 09/01/2011 16:40

Am quite open minded needto, until recently was planning on moving to river cottage with Hugh F-W, my friend and my husband to enjoy a liberal relationship...Grin so sharing Bruce Parry would not be that weird. I loved Tribe as well, he's such a nice guy.

Hope your back gets better, is your alright now angels?

I've just spent the rest of my HIP grant, got a sling, nappy things, a bed guard, and a leopard print onesie (for a pic with our two bengals!!!!) obviously indispensable.
Now just need some sleeping bags, any recommendations?

Has everybody started their NCT classes (those doing them)? mine begin on Tuesday, quite scared, they are with someone called Mitch, he's got to be a guy right?

40Weeks · 09/01/2011 18:39

Ha ha knitta is the ones for the bubba or you!?! Wink

Have had to lock myself in bathroom with iPhone to catch up. Ds2 is wondering around calling 'mummy' but I am pretending the bathroom is sound proof. Dh is down there with them btw!!

Sorry to hear about your back needtosleep hope it's short-lived.

Oh goodness I hear footsteps, will be in touch ladies.....

Oneof4 · 09/01/2011 19:31

Knitta we started NCT last week, and it was okay. Only two episodes of us cracking up at inappropriate moments. Everyone else probably thinks we're nuts. Ho hum.

Very, very pleased with myself this evening after putting together a changing table that a friend has passed on to me. DH kept me company but left me to do it as he knows I'm feeling useless because he's doing everything at the moment. Gold stars all round. The crib is also up. Hurray!

ZeroMinusZero · 09/01/2011 19:57

Thanks needtosleep will check out Sainsburys. Has occurred to me that maybe they don't have to button up, maybe if they're strappy I could slip a strap down over the shoulder for the first moment of skin to skin contact? Maybe I'm overthinking it - but then, it's so fun to overthink all this.

We got our pushchair today after an almighty cock up over Christmas with Mothercare's cheating useless delivery company. But the good news is that we ended up cancelling our order for a Mothercare own brand pushchair for £180 and got a Graco one from Toys R Us for £150 which seems to be a bit of a barg :)

Can't do anything around the house any more, DH does it all now.

PDR · 09/01/2011 19:58

knitta I started NCT last week too - was good but I was the only 2nd timer so felt a bit of a "know it all" but at the same time felt I should impart my wisdom Wink!

ledkr · 09/01/2011 20:22

Off to hosp tmw for monitoring not heard re blood so assume its all ok.

lostfromoz · 09/01/2011 20:31

knitta I did my NCT class this weekend, and it was brilliant. The teacher was really smart...lots of it was focused on 'how to get what you want in the context of the NHS'. Excellent relaxation techniques...I think I'm a bit in love with her. It was very tiring though, I was knackered all day today.

debka · 09/01/2011 20:45

O dear o dear, saw myself in a full length mirror today.... been kidding myself that I look quite neat as I DO from above, but in actual fact I look like a WHALE. I am ENORMOUS. People must look at me with horror, I know I did, I couldn't take my eyes off my reflection it was so terrifying. Can't WAIT to get back to normal, and then diet and become thin and sprightly. In the meantime, however, where are those chocolates...??? Grin

Had lovely news today, our old friends just had their 1st, only 6.7lbs but cute as anything. Made me REALLY WANT to see ours. Not long now!!

ledkr · 09/01/2011 21:07

deb yes i have a mirror that reflects my bulk everytime i get in or out of bed.Not good is it.People do stare at me too.I made the decision not to go swimming anymore cos i feel embarrassed :(

debka · 09/01/2011 21:10

I know, its so daft, we are PREGNANT and ALLOWED to be huge but still feel embarrassed.

PDR · 09/01/2011 21:22

My maternity swimsuit looked shocking today! Had to stretch it over my boobs and my bump Blush Wore a towel right to the poolside then quickly got in a stayed in until DS wanted to go home!

40Weeks · 09/01/2011 21:41

Oooh posh n becks are up the duff again! Still not ad many as you though ledkr!

Oneof4 · 09/01/2011 21:47

OMG - just weighed myself and have put on 8 pounds in two weeks...how on earth?

earlgreyismynectar · 09/01/2011 22:08

Not weighed myself at all! Midwife has also forgotten the last few appointments and I haven't reminded her! You're all very organised! Great to hear what you're all packing in your bags, I hope to do mine next week when I get it from storage at my mums house! Bought new button thru pj's and was v pleased with bargain sheepskin slippers from Office so they can be packed! Not considered a nightie! I had a long Tshirt last time though admittedly not the best for preserving dignity! Needtosleep, knitter & worrymummy great to hear you're planning hb too! I understand your reasons Needtosleep, I really hope you get the perfect birth at home. I'm exhausted, huge and full of aches and pains. Baby is going into breech (feels more like transverse with the head jammed into my side which is agony!) so took the midwives advice to get on all fours with my front lower and I'm delighted to report that after just a few minutes it WORKS and gets baby head down! Just need to keep on with the training of it or it'll def be a hospital birth! It's worth trying if any of you have a mobile bub just now. Hope you're all feeling well, some of you not long to go now! 4 weeks today here! Bring on the babies! :)

NeedToSleepZZZ · 09/01/2011 22:14

la la la la la... fingers in ears when it comes to talking about weight!! I have a wonderfully huge mirror IN the shower so I haven't escaped a moment of my increasing wobbliness Blush

My back is a bit better this evening, thank you. I did some gentle yoga stretches and kept moving to stop it from seizing up and seems to be helping (although OH had to help me in and out of the shower).

Fingers crossed for a good night's sleep... I think we're all due one now!

40Weeks · 09/01/2011 22:27

Mirror in the shower needtosleep ??? are you mad, that's almost self harming!

Weight crept on massively over Xmas, am trying to be healthy now but can't seem to go a day without choc. And have just made a batch of millionaires shortbread so as you can tell the healthy eating is going well. Am going for a swim tomorrow to try and ease the guilt! Couldn't give a toss what they think of me in my swimsuit though, am enjoying not having the breathe in! They're all old dears at my local pool anyhoo

40Weeks · 09/01/2011 22:27

Glad your back is easing up though needtosleep

Highlandgirl · 09/01/2011 22:52

Posh is up the duff...4th boy...? If i was her I would find out the sex! These kids are sooo cute.

Start NTC tomorrow...ekkk I hope they don't show us any videos of birth etc etc on the first day, I might be sick. I'm meeting a Mumsnet girl for coffee on Tuesday...quite nervous as i've never met anyone off the internet before...!!!!

Highlandgirl · 09/01/2011 22:52

40 weeks beat me too it....Grin

tadjennyp · 09/01/2011 23:14

That tip about getting on all fours sounds great. My baby is transverse too and I don't want a CS as dh has no paternity leave! Anything that will help avoid that would be great! I definitely think we should be putting ourselves first now it's the home stretch ladies. Although dh is away till Weds night so I will leave it till then! Hope you're having a great Sunday night.

Deliaskis · 10/01/2011 10:39

Morning ladies, hope everyone had a nice weekend. Mine was OK-ish, didn't do much and had a bit of a 'down' day yesterday. My sleep struggles have cone back with a vengeance, and threw up yesterday morning, so was feeling a bit sorry for myself.

DH 'fixed' me though (again), talked me into getting dressed, even chose me some clothes, and was starting to try and put make-up on me at which point I was laughing helplessly and felt better already. We then went out 'for a drive' (like pensionsers do) in the country as walking is a no go a the mo with my SPD.

Today is OK though, back at work - sometimes I think the routine is actually better for me than the loafing around doing nothing thing. Don't get me wrong, I need the rest, but I seem to be a functioning human being when I'm at work whereas I'm a bit pathetic at home.

Having said that, I did continue with my freezer filling mission yesterday. I now have 6 x cassoulet, 6 x chicken chasseur in there, and will be doing chili on my day off on Wednesday!

Got physio this pm for SPD - don't really know what to expect?

D

kermithermit · 10/01/2011 11:12

Hello!

Wondered if I could join - am pregnant with n.3 and used to be on Mumsnet years ago when my DS's were younger (now nearly 12 and 8). Due 16 Feb but feel like it might come earlier..

Hope everyone is having a good day today ;).

snowangels1 · 10/01/2011 11:37

hello kermit welcome :)

Just LOL here as DH is being very good and ringing the countless companies re: our change of address (yawnsome). Some people won't speak to him as it's my name on the old bill so while on hold he was jokingly saying to the hold music 'hello I am a lady, I am Mrs angels1' in a lady voice only to find the phone answered by the thames water man just at that minute. We both got incredible giggles and he had to hang up Grin . Oh I'm easily pleased now.

Lots of aches and pains out there :( At least not too long to go now.

delia I went to physio for back and she was v good - expected the appointment to be quick and hurried but she spent over an hour with me (pretty much every visit). Got me to bend in different positions to see what I could manage and felt about the back. SHe showed me excercises and did a bit of sort of hard massage stuff. Not sure if that's what they are all like though.

Glad I'm not the only one feeling embarassed about my appearance. I want to pop into work to say hello to everyone (am now officially on mat leave :) ), but since they haven't seen me since I was maybe 24 weeks think they will be Shock by my hugeness (not just tum but all over) and I feel to Blush to have all the stares.

Thank for advice re: diabetes and muesli. Spoke to diabetic nurse today and she seems to think since I've had a number of off readings that I go have GD :( Guess it means more potential interventions although I wonder if I can try and sneak in an extra last minute scan (just to check the babies size obv and in no way for a bit of excitement for me Wink ) because of it Hmm

Had reflexology this morning and made me feel really odd - kept getting heart sort of palpatations and feeling quite odd and dizzy. Very bizaree and no idea why.
