Happy New Year everyone!

I've been getting quite painful twinges in what feels like my cervix/vagina/bum today and I was just wondering if anyone else was getting them and what does it mean?

WanderingInAWinterWonderland · 01/01/2011 23:34

I've been getting them too! I've just been putting it down to the way the baby is moving and possibly mild SPD (have physio appt Thursday). Been getting loads of Braxton hicks too!

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 01/01/2011 23:45

Yes plenty of BH. It's good to know I'm not alone! It does feel like the baby is kicking my cervix and the pain can be quite sharp! She was breech last week, I wonder if that is why? Do you know the position of your baby?

WanderingInAWinterWonderland · 02/01/2011 00:07

I'm not sure what position she's in now but last Saturday I had a 4d scan and she was bottom down in pelvis with her head up! She has been head down before though and felt like she's been headbutting my bladder. Sometimes when I'm walking though, it feels like she's going to slip out and I've had the "going to put a foot through my cervix feeling" too!

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 02/01/2011 00:11

Lets hope that they turn around into more favourable positions then and are getting nice and deeply engaged! How many weeks do you have left?

WanderingInAWinterWonderland · 02/01/2011 01:20

I have 8 weeks left yet, due 26th February but I'm panicking as I think she's going to be quite big! Sonographer last week said, "at least 4 lbs" already and she was only taking into consideration the length of her and she looked pretty chubby on the scan! you're due pretty soon aren't you, Breastmilk? Yes, I hope they turn into good positions and all the BHs is a sign of nice, short, easy labours!

tadventjennyp · 02/01/2011 01:29

New thread to welcome our new babies! Thanks wandering. I get terrible BH when I overdo so am trying to relax a bit more! Don't know what position he is in but he moves around so much in the evening I think he is going to come straight out of my stomach. Grin

Tarlia · 02/01/2011 05:49

Happy New Year, Ladies xx Hope you all enjoyed NYE. I keep thinking "new year, new baby, wow!" then I read what angels said which hadn't occurred to me yet... "due next month" ekk, we really are, and some even this month! How scary and exciting is that!?

wigglesrock · 02/01/2011 07:36

Tarlia I know what you mean I bumped into a distant relative yesterday and she asked when I was due, when I said "Feb" she said "Oh next month!" I nearly wet myself, of course my pelvic floor has completely given up so that wasn't that big a surprise Grin

Think this ones still breech, although had such a weird night on Fri night re movement etc that it reminded me of night dd2 turned, I have midwife appointment on Fri and then scan to see position/placenta next week so hopefully will have a better idea!!

WanderingInAWinterWonderland · 02/01/2011 09:21

I'm hoping that when I say, "due next month" I won't get so many shocked faces due to how big I am. The checkout lady in Tesco said "Oh my god are you having quads?" (why do checkout ladies always comment? Hmm ) followed by "I was was big as you 4 years ago with my Christmas baby. 10 pounds 5, never again!" That's it love, spread the joy! Hmm

It feels like the little one has decided, this morning, that she doesn't like my ribs and is trying to pull them off! Ow!

EauRouge · 02/01/2011 09:25

Wigglesrock Grin I've been crossing my legs every time I sneeze. I never had this problem last time!

Happy new year to everyone, I can't believe that by the end of this thread we'll all have our babies Shock should we do some sort of arrivals list thingy like I've seen on other threads with arrival date/time, weight and name?

WanderingInAWinterWonderland · 02/01/2011 09:32

Yes we need to do a stats list for arrivals don't we? I wonder how Jack and the girls are getting on! I imagine she's way too busy to post ATM.

I wonder if all the babies will be here by the end of the thread? With people starting on Mat leave they mind spend more time posting than usual, so we might fill it up quicker.

isnt it strange to start a mew thread on ny day?I am actually having mine 4 wks tomorrow!Me and dd said we are going to start saying 3wks 6 days etc from Tuesday haha.I am getting more worried now cos never thought id even have this baby at my age so have been waiting for something to go wrong the whole time and now it just seems too good to be true.I feel so much better now i have put the boundaries in place with in laws but as i said i do think there are testing times ahead :(
I get that shooting pain in my vagina its horrible also now my scar is aching like mad and ive cracked open my waist high knickers that were in my hossy bag cos the bikini ones are making my scar are very sore.I came up with the name Nancy last night-of course dh hates it.He is fixated on Ivy which i do love but mostly i like Delilah but neither he or dd like it,any opinions?

ledkr · 02/01/2011 10:15

a mew thread hahaha

Highlandgirl · 02/01/2011 10:40

Ohhhh a lovely new year thread...! I wonder when bumps will start to arrive. It's all very exciting. Smile

Already shouted at DH this morning, on the fucking xbox again this morning when I got up....Angry he needs to tidy out the spare room for bump, it's full of all his crap army kit which is packed in hugely boxes which I can't and won't move. Starting to annoy me as I'm awake at 5am and can't sleep so get up, clean the kitchen, put on a wash, tidy the living room etc etc..then go back to bed at about 7am since I've had no sleep since 2am, he gets up and sits on his fat butt. (not fat really quite firm and peachy Envy) but arghhhhhhhhh that man

The lady at the check out last week was commenting on my bump..blaaaa blaaa etc 'is this your first dear, you'll go back for more'. Then she said...'I've had 3 you'll be fine, however the first one died!!!! OMFG what are you telling me that for, mad women.

My pelvic floor is starting to go...i wet myself laughing and cough the other day Blush Blush thank god I had a panty liner on...bloody hate them but that goodness as I was out and had to rush to the loo. I'm sure the old kung foo baby vagina style kicks aren't helping, sodding hurt...!

WanderingInAWinterWonderland · 02/01/2011 10:47

I love Delilah Ledkr but my DH doesn't like it either! Men have no taste eh? I think I prefer Ivy to Nancy. Ivy is sweet! Smile

DH is fixed on our name too, as is DD as she has told everyone the baby's name is Charlotte so it looks like DH will get his way as it doesn't feel like I could change my mind now. I can't really complain as it is a name that I suggested and I do love it but it might have been nice to have more of a debate and have a few names to choose from!

OP posts:
JustOneMorePlease · 02/01/2011 11:06

ledkr I love the name Ivy so I guess I'm on your dh's side.

Knickers are a problem here, the small ones feel as though they are going to explode and my big granny ones roll down. I think my bump has dropped so there is nothing for them to lie on! Tons of BH as usual here.

My older dc's are getting excited. Ds2 had some name suggestions last night. Of course he wants a boy and he thinks Malcolm and Terry are fabulous names. I told him I'd give them some thought! He is 6 next weekend so am not allowed to have the baby yet!!!!!

Dd1 who is only 15 months loves press in my sticking out belly button like a doorbell. She laughs like mad"

NeedToSleepZZZ · 02/01/2011 11:10

Morning everyone,

Just marking my place on our beautifully shiny new thread! Feeling sooo full of baby today (does that make sense?!) and being a bit fed up. Might try going for a walk to see if it improves things. Yes, oh yes, to the sharp pains in cervix and bum Hmm

ledkr · 02/01/2011 11:31

justone that is sooo sweet i love that age,i remember vomiting violently and dd2 sat on the floor absolutley pissing himself at every retch,he was about 13 months.
bh are really strong arent they?i keep wondering if its the start, they are really low down and feel quite painfull, must get my bag finishedthis week.
Highlandmy dh gets on the consoles and ive lost him completely,i have told him i couldnt care less as long as he does stuff first-child.My spare room is about to be taken over by ds3 20 who has finally split with his gf.last time he just chucked a case on the floor and proceeded to chuck his washing on the floor.not happening this time tho.cant help Grin at pil not being able to have the 5 star hotel they are used to but :( that ill have them on the bloody floor when i get up with the baby etc, maybe it will put them off tho.

knittamerrykid · 02/01/2011 11:58

Hello! just joinning the new thread.
Thanks re c-sect advice. Hopefully it won't come to that and he won't faint during birth as he is THE birth partner...

Gosh 4 weeks left for some of you!! I bet we'll nedd a new thread by the end of all the arrivals, specially since late Feb. could well be March. It'll be very lonely here by then Sad.

Re visiting relatives, I told my mum she's not allowed to be here before/during the birth, she'll be swallowing her words a couple of years ago when she said in conversations that she'd liked to be on her own with DH and baby...well, I agree! It helps that they need to fly in.
On the other hand, mil, called the other day to say she'd be here to help from day one... DH quickly put her right, nicely but firmly. She had a horrible experience though, with her dd(2) she had a toddler (DH) and DH was away and mother came to 'help' and did nothing, then she got really bad depression. I apreciated that she'd want to do it right for us, but DH is higly domesticized and already does everything (except know where the tea towels are kept...Hmm).

Sorry long story. Have a nice day!

40Weeks · 02/01/2011 13:56

Hi girls

Tryin to keep up with you all! Me and dh are dropping boys off at pils later and going out with some friends :-) currently laughing as dh is trying to watch football and ds1 is trying to "operate" on him with his new doctors kit my dsis bought him for Xmas. HA! Don't get me started on games consoles...grrrrr

Lots of low down pains too, baby is a contortionist! I was late with ds1 & 2 so am wondering when this one will make an appearance. Hope it's not too late, I hated going overdue and people ringing and texting non stop. I know they meant well but it drove me mad.

40Weeks · 02/01/2011 14:00

And haven't got ANYTHING ready re hospital bag. Planning a home birth but still goodyo have one ready. The baby's room is a tip, have tons to do but plan to get it sorted by end of Jan before dh goes to Spain on this stag do!

Highlandgirl · 02/01/2011 14:55

I'm going to break the x-box....!!!

Washing today...but a bit stuck! Do i just wash all the new born stuff or shall I wash the 0-3 months too? Not sure what size bump is going to be..so should I pack 3 NB and 3 0-3 baby growns in the hospital bag. I'm really over thinking this...Smile clearly i need to get a grip.

wigglesrock · 02/01/2011 15:26

Highlandgirl what size does your newborn stuff go up to mine is 11lb and if baby is any bigger than that, it's going back so it'll have to do Grin

See girls - should have taken a leaf out of my book - find dh at young age (him- 19, me much younger!!!), marry them young, train them for the next 12-15 years, wait until they're 39 years old like lovely Mr Wiggles and the whole X box thing etc just passes them by!!! Now if someone could tell me how to stop a 39 year olds obsession with i-tunes I would be very grateful Grin

smallblackflowers · 02/01/2011 16:20

Thanks for the new thread wandering Smile

wiggles I found my DH young (20) and we've been together for nearly 14 years, but we have an X Box 360, a Wii, a PS2 etc..... admittedly they don't get played on too much any more since DD was born!

I've been panicking about my lack of packed hospital bag, but have written a list today and will start packing next week when DD is back at nursery and DH is back at work. I did write my birth plan today though too.
All of my newborn stuff is currently 400 miles away at my sister's house in Cornwall. I have been begging for her to send it back for a while now, as her LO is 5 months old now, and am hoping that she sends it this week.

ledkr a question for you about ranitidine. I couldn't take my heartburn/ reflux any more and went and bought myself some ranitidine yesterday on your recommendation (and after lots of reassurance googling). It is wonderful. The only thing is is that I have gone from constipation to the other extreme. And I've been constipated for about 22 weeks......Just wondering if you have experienced similar?!

35 weeks today. eek.
