A shiny new thread for a shiny new year. Grin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SemperEadem · 03/01/2011 22:18

Mine don't hurt as such but my legs ache every now and again, they sort of cramp up and ache as I'm walking about.

I just think they are having trouble supporting my expanding girth! I'm about 12 stone at the mo which is quite big for my small stature and frame!

WanderingSheep · 03/01/2011 22:19

They're not painful (well mine aren't) although I might play on it a bit when I ask the doc about it Wink. They just look hideous Sad.

I think they can disappear after pregnancy but unfortunately mine aren't pregnancy related!

WanderingSheep · 03/01/2011 22:24

I've put on 2 stone throughout this pregnancy. I think I put on about 2 and a half to 3 with DD so I'm on a similar track! I'm quite petite usually (5'3 and weigh about 8 and a half stone).

ledkr · 03/01/2011 22:25

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
dh does my head in sometimes. He has been in since 3 i made big meal big enough for tomorrow and he had to have 2 massive portions so not enough now.He has been up and down the stairs all afternoon and i have just looked and the stairs are still covered in stuff to go up from where i tidied up earlier. Why are men so f'ing different to us,i feel like giving up and just being a subservient housewife.

40Weeks · 03/01/2011 22:26

Had a look on wiki, apparently those support tights can help, as well as aspirin (maybe best after birth though) and elevating the legs - feet up girls, Dr. 40's orders, let them fellas sort everything out!! You can also have something injected into them to get rid.

God there is no dignity in pregnancy or childbirth is there ?

40Weeks · 03/01/2011 22:30

Sorry ledkr my post is obviously as reply to the varicose veins, not th "men are useless" issue - if only aspirin could sort that out!!! And then when you ask them do do something they go, "yes love" in a whiney teenagers patronising voice like all you do is nag. IF YOU DID IT IN THE FIRST PLACE I WOULDN'T HAVE TO NAG!!!

WanderingSheep · 03/01/2011 22:31

Someone I knew had the injections but said that they came back. I love my baths scalding hot too and I don't think that that helps.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 03/01/2011 22:34

Have just spent the evening cleaning my pram/ pushchair as it's second hand and needed it. Bit worried now as it's quite heavy, very cosy though (silvercross 3D), think I'll be using my sling a lot... It was such a good deal though, only £70 and I'm poor!

Didn't think about packing paracetamol, thank you! I've packed some of those cold sticky strips for migraines, not sure if i'll end up throwing them across the room though Wink I'm going to hire a TENS thingy but not sure when to do it.

Got upset earlier about Pete Postlethwaite dying, really liked him Sad

WanderingSheep · 03/01/2011 22:37

Aww, sorry about the crap DHs! I have to say that mine has been a little love over the Xmas hols. He sorted out the kitchen for me the day before Xmas eve and got rid of all the crap out of the cupboards. He made xmas dinner on the day and he's helped me with the housework today and made our tea! I'm going to miss him when he goes back to work tomorrow Sad.

WanderingSheep · 03/01/2011 22:38

OMG, Pete Postlethwaite has died? Sad What a shame!

WanderingSheep · 03/01/2011 22:42

Needtosleep it probably feels heavier while you're pg. It might not feel so bad when you're not. I stopped pushing DD around in the pushchair, a few months ago, because I was struggling but it was easy peasy to push her beforehand. Smile

knittamerrykid · 03/01/2011 22:59

needto which sling have you got?

LO has me in pain today, he keeps pushing down and kicking up, I think he's bored in there. I thought they were supposed to move less and less now, were they not? now am worried about how to cope with the next 8/7 weeks with him like this, when will he run out of space?

NeedToSleepZZZ · 03/01/2011 23:03

wandering He was brilliant wasn't he?

Now, please tell me the secret with your DH, I almost fell flat on my face this morning by tripping over OH's crap stuff. Got so fed up that I've put it all in a carrier bag and left it in the hall (made sure car keys, phone etc were right at the bottom of the bag so he realised just what was in there Wink).

Hope you're right about the pram, I do have this vision of leaping around the place after ds is born just because I can and I suppose my fat bum could do with some heavy lifting so might be a good thing! Grin

WanderingSheep · 03/01/2011 23:07

Knitta I was thinking the very same thing earlier today! DD never seemed as active as this baby, in utero. They're supposed to move less as they run out of room but this one doesn't seem to care about the lack of space, she just stretches out here there and everywhere! I can see huge movements even under my clothes. It feels like she's going to burst out of my stomach! It really makes me gasp sometimes.

WanderingSheep · 03/01/2011 23:13

Needtosleep I think DH has just been feeling sorry for me lugging around this humongous bump! The baby moves so hard in the night that the bed shakes even waking him up Shock so I think he's worried about me doing too much. He's not totally perfect though! He's got too many clothes Envy which take up all our wardrobe space and he plays his music too loud, lol!

NeedToSleepZZZ · 04/01/2011 00:39

knitta sorry, just read your post. It's a baby carrier this one not a sling.... oops! It's okay to use from birth (well, 8lbs) so should be fine.

wandering I know what you mean about bump size, mine is growing more and more out front and when he pushes forwards I feel like I'm going to pop in a painful way! My OH doesn't have that many clothes and his saving grace is that I get to use half his wardrobe space as well as having mine Grin. Was just in the bath and he looked at me and said that if he was wearing 3D glasses he'd be frightened of my bump... nice!

Tarlia · 04/01/2011 03:22

Needto So sorry, but teehee, about the 3D glasses Grin bet you didn't know whether to laugh or cry! Like wandering said, I'm sure the pram will be easier when not preg. I have hell of a difficulty pushing a pram while I was still at work.

Ledkr Mine does that with meals too, its bloody annoying as I can never work out how much extra to make, if I want some saved for the next day. I then get the puppy eyes if I ask him to eat something else if still hungry, which is sad, as its food clearly enjoyed. The joys of having men with physically demanding jobs.

40 "IF YOU DID IT IN THE FIRST PLACE I WOULDN'T HAVE TO NAG!!!" My sentiments exactally! How can they just not 'see' things or my favorite 'forget' things that need doing on a daily basis!?

knitta I sympathis, my baby is trying to push its wat through my right hand side. When s/he is bored of that, they roll over and stick their bum so blood hard out of the right side, that side goes totally solid and my tummy goes all wonky.

Nobody know about the hypertension then? I really shouldn't have googledConfused. Worst case, placenta abruption and still births and if really lucky pre-eclampsiaHmm. Also freaking I'll be put on bedrest and wont get to my antenatle classes. Stillll, with any luck, I'll go today and all will be peachy. Its the not knowing, I've never been in hospital before really, the thought of ever staying the night fills me with dread, though I didn't realise that until now.

ZeroMinusZero · 04/01/2011 06:36

Tarlia do you suffer from insomnia? Or are you posting from another country?

Back to work today :(

TallulahBelly14 · 04/01/2011 06:46

Tarlia, I've had hypertension all the way through - so far it hasn't been too much of a problem as I've been put on medication to lower my blood pressure. Methyldopa is safe during pregnancy. (And as I've had no protein in my urine and no swelling, I'm not too worried about pre-eclampsia).

But I think you're far enough along that if the baby was being affected by your bp, they would know by now. The growth would have been affected as the placenta wouldn't be doing it's job - I have my fingers tightly crossed for you that it's all fine...

Tarlia · 04/01/2011 07:47

Zero I'm in Scandinavia, so an hour ahead of the UK. Yup, my sleep has been awful in recent months. Good luck with work, hope it goes well.

Good luck to anyone else returning to work today!

Tallulah Thank you so much, that is very reassuring to read. I'm positive it'll be fine and I'm just getting my knickers in a twist, the doctor really didn't help yesterday. Did you have high bp from the start/before getting pregnant? My BP was fantastic until beginning of November.

wigglesrock · 04/01/2011 09:03

Tarlia good luck for appt today, some drs can be a bit panicky, and some can be too relaxed, I need one just in the middle who will do exactly as I want Grin.

Mr Wiggles was very upset Pete Postlewaite had died, although I think he was just looking for an excuse to watch The Lost World in tribute, he's a tad obsessed with Jurassic Park etc, not really sure why Hmm

Am heading out for "fun" day with girls, although hoping to nip to Asda etc to get pjs for hospital bag, woke up this morning with really bad lower back pain, and am starting to get a bit panicky about having nothing in for bag. I have a midwife appt on Fri so going to have a good chat re babys position, definitely feeling very awkward and uncomfy, also have late scan next week so hopefully will know a lot more then.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 04/01/2011 09:41

Hope you get on okay with work zero, I can't imagine having the energy to teach at the moment!

tallulah Angels has had problems with high blood pressure so I'm sure when she can get on here she'll have some advice.

wiggles I have a scan next week as well, it'll be weird seeing him now he's almost fully grown. When I saw him at my 32 week scan he had lots of hair, wonder if that'll still be there.

Where is the prof? I hope she's okay. Anyone want to volunteer to start a new stats list, I wouldn't know where to start!

Deliaskis · 04/01/2011 09:53

Yikes, new thread and lots to catch up on! Happy new year ladies, and best wishes for easy births (LOL!) and healthy babies.

Back to work today and I can't believe how cr@p it is :-( . I have zero motivation and just can't be ar$ed anymore. I'm officially starting mat leave on my due date (Feb 19th) but will take some leave before then. I'm thinking about taking Wednesdays off in Jan to give me a mid-week break, and then maybe go down to 3 days in Feb, with the last week off totally.

Apart from sulking about being back at work, everything else is fine. Managed a walk on the beach on NYD which I was happy about as SPD had been pretty painful in the weeks up to Christmas but lots of rest (I have spent a lot of time with my feet up on the sofa) has helped.

It's really the home stretch now isn't it? Exciting!

D

wigglesrock · 04/01/2011 09:56

needtosleep I haven't had a scan since 20 weeks so am really hoping we get to find out sex. I would really like to know myself and I think it would really help the girls if we knew. They are very quite excited!! but one wants a boy and one a girl and I would rather be able to tell them myself. DD1 can be a tad over sensitive dramatic, and I think if its a girl she may take it as a personal slight Grin

40Weeks · 04/01/2011 10:04

Hello girls

Back to reality today, took boys to Science Museum yesterday so today is a Rest day, apart from fly jab this pm! So tired as ds2 has been wakin in the night again. He is being a nightmare with food so probably wakes up hungry but it's taking me ages to get back to sleep again. Have committed to healthier eating from now on in to try and keep weight down. So hard when the cupboards are still so full of sweets, Christmas cake and mince pies! Back to Spin class tomorrow, hopefully it won't kill me. Am so jealous of all of you who know baby's sex, am desperate to know!
