Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CherylAnnTweedy · 06/12/2010 11:37

Chloe don't know if he's still there, or if you're anywhere close, but there used to be a guy on the corner opposite Bransbury Park sold real trees. I used to get mine from him when I lived that way, they were always really good and about £25 for a 6' tree.

chloesbaby · 06/12/2010 11:41

ooh that sounds good Cheryl
I might have to take DH on a sneaky car trip that way without letting him know why until we get there!

laurenamium · 06/12/2010 11:57

Lol at your dream cat Grin

Miffster · 06/12/2010 12:04

WLL my tree and decs are up and hopefully Tiny will be born under all the sparkly fairy lights!
Mamathulu thinking of you, good luck, hope you can get some rest.
93pjb fab news about the move!

Also good luck to everyone having twinges...
I can't really tell what's going on, how long I have to go, etc I'm having some very, very early pre-labour getting-ready sort of signs but I'd expect to have all that at this stage after reading all your signs and symptoms ( thank God for this thread, it's so good to know what others are feeling)

Here's the TMI...

The constipation is well and truly gone.
Pant liners are now a necessity.
Am tired but not sleeping well. Need to doze in the daytime.
Weeing incessantly, leaving the house is a problem because have to wee every 15 mins.
Can't be arsed to do much after weeks of dashing about. Am quite happy at home.
walking about = feeling that my insides are about to drop out of my fanjo.
Increased back pain after lying/sitting in one position for more than 20 mins - this is making sleeping hard.

At the weekend I started puking and having diarrhoea, and was so tired that I cried, because I was suddenly very frightened. I didn't think I would be able to cope with labour because I knew my body was too exhausted to take the strain. So I thought I'd end up in hospital having forceps and I was so frightened of that.

This episode impressed upon me the need for lots of rest so that is what I am doing. The world has totally receded.

I find I I don't care about anything else in the wider world now, I just want to hunker down and kind of vegetate and wait and let time go by very slowly and calmly in a haze. This is very, very unlike me; normally i am a news junkie.

Am also feeling very sad for C&G and her poor family.

:(

chloesbaby · 06/12/2010 12:14

Me too Miffster

Normally I follow the 24 hour news channels and can blather on about it to anyone who will listen, but this morning in bed, DH tried to talk to me about the Wikileaks stuff and I just didn't care. All I'm thinking about is my little world now and the baby. I didn't go out all of last week because of the weather and I was completely content to just stay inside!

I have moments of thinking, how am I going to cope with labour? How is a full size baby meant to fit out of THERE? etc, but most of the time I'm ok.

KittyBump · 06/12/2010 12:55

Hiya :)

Congratulations to OWO and welcome baby Ruby :)
seems I was a bit out with my prediction of 4 weekend babies, but sounds like a few of you may be ready soon! Good Luck!

Just wondering... those of you with diarrhea are you getting any stomach cramps along with it? I feel like i have food poisoning but I'm really not sure if the cramps are pg related or just tummy ones, and could just be iron tablets messing me up Confused

WLL i've been assembling our new fake tree this morning - didn't realise how much work they take! It's currently in 3 pieces on the living room floor as I got fed up and wandered off Xmas Smile

also, just called the docs - I don't have a UTI so that's good Grin

CAT I liked your dream :) I think I'll miss weird, vivid pg dreams after this

Also, can anyone describe what it feels like when your baby's head is on your cervix? I don't think mine is that far down yet but I occasionally get deep twinges (similar, to me, as if I had poked myself in the belly button - not sure if anyone will understand what I mean!)

kellestar · 06/12/2010 13:30

kittybump yes i get the sharp pain in the belly button, feels like someones really fishing around in there. It's also very tender area. It still does the hokey cokey and goes in and out as LO shifts. The pain when it's pushing on my cervix is weird, kind of a bit pre-period achey and can vary from a few tweaks to a savage three hour poke-a-thon.

Had CMW this morning, Urine/Weight/BP good, baby still measuring up little for 39+1 and has shifted a little with head now in pelvis, but only 4/5 palpable. LO was a complete fidget and they had a trainee who was amazed it was able to move as much as it is.

Snow defrosted over the weekend, but freezing fog this morning was lethal, it's only a short walk to the midwife, but it was like an ice rink and got half way and clung to someone's gate for a minute or two before carrying on.

I had so much planned this week to distract me in my last week [hopefully] and had to cancel most of it, as either I can't get there or friends can't get there. So DH has got me a few films down to watch this week.

I have got all the Christmas Presents sorted and DH wrapped them up yesterday, bless. We are not worrying about decorations this year, too much faff. But I have the lights on our Bay Tree in the front garden.

I am so up and down at the moment, nervous anticipation, fear, exhaustion, wanting it over with so I can sleep, not wanting it to end as I love the feeling of having a bump.

Show was now 10 days ago and though I've had back ache, period cramps and a few BH's there is no sign that LO will be arriving anytime soon. I do find the more I strain myself the more pain I'm in.

CAT my DH dreamt I'd birthed chicks a couple of weeks ago. But he has weird dreams as of late.

GreenGeekGirl · 06/12/2010 14:23

Congratulations and well done OWO I LOVE the name Ruby! It would be my first choice of girl's name too but DH has other ideas, hurrumph!

I'm 38+1 today and no signs of LO making the grand entrance any time soon. I get the occasional BH but have been getting those quite regularly since about 20 weeks, so no change there. Feel ready for it now but happy also to wait but DH is very impatient! He was told by a friend that a pint of warmed stout has been known to do the trick and came home with one for me! I've popped it next to the fruit bowl (containing a large, ripe pineapple) for my EDD Wink

Christmas - Presents are all sorted now (and very smug I'm feeling about it too. Very much enjoyed putting the decorations up yesterday, whilst listening to Christmas music and wearing a silly Christmas hat. Now to make the mince pies! Xmas Grin

Sleeping - After months of my body enforcing sleeping lockdown between 10-11pm until 7-8am without fail every single night the pattern has suddenly changed in the last couple of days. I now can stay up a little later, until around midnight, then wake up for an hour or two some time between 4 and 6 am, then fall sleep until 10.30ish. What does this mean?! Confused

GreenGeekGirl · 06/12/2010 14:23

NO I'm 39+1 - eek! Where does the time go?! Blush

CherylAnnTweedy · 06/12/2010 14:29

GGG It means you're getting 8.5 hours sleep a night and that's just not fair. Grin

frankenfanny · 06/12/2010 14:37

Am 39 weeks. Snowed in again. Midwife Unit saying they will not send staff out in treacherous conditions so if go into labour have to go to hospital. If go to hospital have no childcare.

Kids off school and DH trying to work from home, getting no peace. All a bit stressy round here. All their activities are cancelled and they are even bored with TV. At least they are not sick!

Sleeping like a log but having the most vivid dreams. Dreamt I gave birth to a blue stag (wtf?). Also had a v frightening/upsetting dream and woke up in tears.

We now have a shortlist of names but no decisions yet.

Deep cleaned inside my car and put in the car seat, damn thing didn't fit as seat belts too short. After much adjusting and swearing clicked it in but it will not be easy to move in and out onto the chassis of the pram like I hoped- may have to change it. B***d.

Wholelottalove · 06/12/2010 15:36

Argh, I have done barely any xmas shopping. Panic! At least finally bought DD the present from the baby. Thank goodness for internet shopping.

Lavitabellissima · 06/12/2010 16:15

I know C&G has been in all of our thoughts. This afternoon her beautiful sleeping angel was delivered, they have named her Scarlett Niamh.

C&G thinking of you at this sad time and sending you best wishes for you & your family.

DuelingFanjo · 06/12/2010 16:16

GGG I am up until 1am sometimes but always seem to wake for a 3.30 - 4 am pee then am up again before 7.30. Lately though I have been staying in bed and falling asleep from about 9.30 until about 10.30. I suppose it's our body clock getting ready for when teh baby is here?

We had another talk about names and we're pretty much sorted for Boys names but still stuck for a girls name. DH really doesn't like my favourite name and I can't think of any other I would like. I have suggested a few but my heart is not in it at all as I really really really want him to agree to the one I like Grin

Maybe once he's seen me go through the birth he will let me have my way!?

frankenfanny I have the same problem with my carseat - I have a Nissan Micra and the seatbelt only just fits around the seat with a bit of a struggle. I haven't even checked if teh pushchair will fit in the boot Blush

Just got back from the Midwife. baby is still 2/5th and head down all in a great position. She says I won't see anyone now until 20th and if I still haven't given birth by then they will offer a sweep (I'll be 9 days overdue by then) so that all fits in with my plans for a very late birth. Here's hoping Grin

Miffster · 06/12/2010 18:16

Frankenfanny hope the snow buggers off so you can get someone to come out!
Where's japhrimel? Not seen her around for a while...

Wholelottalove · 06/12/2010 18:48

Was going to ask the same miffster Hope you are ok Japhrimel

Our xmas tree is up! :) DD had nice time decorating it, but we had to take her up for her bath because she then decided she needed to pull all the decs back off again.

She's just banished me from her bedtime as she wants Daddy to do her story. Think she is missing her 1:1 time with him.

DF glad all well with MW. Fingers crossed you go over.

ButtonAzure · 06/12/2010 18:53

have also done christmas decs WLL making most of a real tree before having a 1 year old trying to eat the prickles next year!

Good luck to people feeling very close!

I am :( today, I had 12 and a half hours of quite strong contractions, from 7.30 yesterday evening, all through the night till this morning.
I spent a total of 3.5 hours in the bath during that time, and got 3 hours sleep. And then they all stopped! Midwife has said could still be days or weeks to go. was quite gutted as they were really pretty painful and i was sure was it.

I guess it shows though, have had all the signs i think now, heaviness, backache, cramping, a b show, m plug, dropped baby, nesting, the 'clean out' poo-wise... and still very pg!

I think i'm going to have to find a new hobby or project!

laziness · 06/12/2010 22:22

hi all

seems like many of us are about to go into labour...good luck guys :)

i guess I'm quite behind u all at 37+4 only...
:(

went out for a walk today..felt so good..I'm so happy it's not snowing in London any more..Grin

ebrookm · 07/12/2010 00:00

Hi all!

I know I never posted that much, but thought I would let you know my waters just broke a few minutes ago during an episode of the Inbetweeners! It was a little bit that seeped through and then when I stood up a bigger gush happened.

Will keep you posted and I hope you are all feeling v. well. Sorry I have not kept up with the thread as I had hoped.

Going to take a bath and ring the hospital. So far the contractions are not too bad but I know that will change.

Esian · 07/12/2010 00:08

New to mumsnet posting but been reading this thread for a few months.

I'm 37+6 and hoping I give birth before christmas! My ribs can't take much more of this kicking!

Good luck to everyone :)

Mamathulu · 07/12/2010 03:46

Morning all - yes, it's bastard o'clock here, and yet again, I'm awake with no sign of sleeping ANY time soon!
Thanks for all the good wishes, everyone - spent yesterday sorting out the house, and my dad came round to help put up the baby's chest of drawers, which is STILL not finished! Bless him, he's such a perfectionist, he got about halfway through before deciding that the 50mm screws supplied weren't long enough, so abandoned the whole thing to go home and get stuff to bring back today and finish it off - so, WLL, to answer 'am i ready?"....ermmm, don't feel like it - at ALL!
Bag's packed, kids know the score for tonight and tomorrow morning, but I still haven't got the baby's clothes away - their currently sitting in some wicker baskets on top of ds's drawers! Oh well, maybe today!! :)
ooh- good luck ebrookm!!
laziness - I too am glad we're snowless again down south! Big relief for travelling tomorrow!
BA - I've been knitting like mad - I never thought I'd get this bloody blanket done, but it's been great for keeping me on my arse occupied, and I'm down to doing the borders now!! Will I get it done in time for tomorrow though? Confused
yes, hope japhrimel's ok!

DF Stick to your guns with the name! DH has vetoed some of my favourites, and I his, so we don't have a brilliantly inspiring list atm, but fingers crossed it won't take us too long to decide! I've packed a name book anyway!

CherylAnnTweedy · 07/12/2010 05:45

MOrning, am up with a still ill ds2. "There's nothing wrong, must just be a virus, make sure he has plenty of fluids & paracetamol". Well after 3 and a bit weeks of the above and 2 trips a week to the gp I'm getting pretty annoyed with being fobbed off. Having trouble sleeping myself anyway so I think I'd have been up and about anyway even if he was ok.

Good luck ebrookm & Mamathulu, hope your babies arrive safely. Smile

Hi Esian

Those of you having problems with the car seat, have you tried a base? The middle seatbelt in our Mondeo was too short for our car seat, but a base did fit fine. However as there was no way of safely getting the 2 boys in as well we had no choice but to get a new car. Worth a try though if you've got a Mothercare that fits near you or Toys r Us. Be warned though the TRU fitter that we went to actually gave us the wrong advice and I had to phone Graco to get the correct info, so if you do go down that route and are unsure about what they say, give the manufacturer a call.

I'm due tomorrow, after weeks of wanting baby out I'm still keeping everything crossed that it stays put until Fri. Have an appointment at the child health clinic with ds2 this morning then a few little bits and bobs to do this afternoon. Am getting more and more contractions, quite a few fairly strong ones for most of the evening last night, quite a crampy belly (diarrhea/trapped wind type feeling) but thankfully nothing happening.

Wholelottalove · 07/12/2010 08:21

ebrookm good luck! Hope you're already cuddling your baby. Let us know how you got on.

Mamathulu good luck too for today. I guess we never really feel ready, but it all works out ok :) Hope your Dad sorts the drawers out so you have a lovely finished house to come back to.

Welcome Esian I'm also hoping I manage it before Christmas, or at least avoid the day itself.

cheryl sorry you're having problems with DS. Have you seen the same doctor each time? Happy DD, hope baby stays put until Friday for you.

I'm 38+4, had better night last night. DH has taken DD off to nursery this morning so I'm going to have a bath and back to bed in a bit.

Hope everyone else ok.

CherylAnnTweedy · 07/12/2010 08:50

WLL I've seen one twice and a few others once, all give same 'advice'. He's a lot worse in the evenings so I'm going to take him to the out of hours doctor tonight and not budge until they acknowledge he really is ill. Enjoy your bath & sleep. Smile

DuelingFanjo · 07/12/2010 08:52

Welcome Esian Do you know what you are having?

Welcome back ebrookm how exciting. Hope it all goes well.

button any more signs? Hope things move on for you.

Mamathulu Grin at bastard o'clock. I feel like I have had no sleep at all. Very disturbed nights sleep but I have to get up as my mum is coming for lunch. I seem to have a lunch date planned for every day this week! Good luck for today/tomorrow Smile hope you have your baby soon.

Sorry to hear about your DS's prolonged illness Cheryl I think GPs love to just fobb people off; must be a pain having to go to the surgery so frequently while heavily pregnant only to be sent home with no answers. Here's to keeping the baby in until Friday.

DH seems keen for me to have the baby next week so that he can start paternity leave. He knows that I want it to be late though and seemed a little disappointed that the midwife won;t be seeing me now until I am 9 days over. Not that it means anything at all. I had so much movement lastnight that I wondered if something was going to happen overnight but all quiet today so maybe it's going to hang on in there.

One question. According to the Midwife I'm only measuring 0.5 CM larger than 2 weeks ago (when a different midwife measured me) and I wondered if this just means the bump has dropped? My measurements have gone from 36cm to 36.9 and now to just 37 (which is not even 0.5cm) in a month. I know these measurements aren't completely accurate and she doesn't seem worried but I wanted to check what kind of groth others are getting?
