diddle, good to know my bump is kinda average as i thought i was enormous for 17 weeks!

i had a message on the answerphone from the midwife today. she said the results of my bloodtests came back (for spina bifida and down's) and that there's nothing to worry about as i am at a really low risk. i think i'll ring her tomorrow to get the actual number as i am curious. so that's such good news!

abbey1515 · 28/12/2005 21:34

Lilac, that's such good news! V. pleased for you!
My bump is big too- I weigh less than when I got pregnant so am assuming this is a bump and not me putting on weight! Everytime I get up in the morning it seems to be getting harder (the bump I mean, not just getting up!).

Flum · 28/12/2005 23:30

Phew, that just took ages to read a months worth of messages, by all accounts mostly about belly bands what ever the devil they are.

Hope you all had wonderful Crimbo. We had fantastic time. First one in our new home in country. Had both sets of parents and a few stray grandparents and uncles and aunts over. Our dd was only kiddy so got lots of attention not to mention a 'tutu'.

I cooked xmas dinner for 11 and am still basking in the glow of success. It all went perfectly. Followed Delia Smiths 36 hour countdown to the letter and it made it easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Have felt few little tickles in tummy in last week, when I lie down to sleep at night - could be a wiggling jiggling mini baby.

Glad to hear all seemingly going well with all. Am 16 weeks this week. Have first antenatal appt next Tues, so looking forward to getting on that treadmill.

abbey1515 · 30/12/2005 23:34

Flum, that sounds fantastic- I don't know how you did it! Am still only at the stage of being able to put bread in toaster and switch it on- anything else still makes me sick!
BTW, have date for section- have to have one due to medical condition- 1st June!

jinglediddle · 31/12/2005 16:33

wow abbey - a date already thats efficient, how lovely 1st of June. thats if bay doesn't try to come sooner

abbey1515 · 02/01/2006 16:55

I know, it's very exciting! But am starting to get very panicky too- am having nightmares about having to look after puppies, kittens etc and losing them! Is this normal?!

Laura032004 · 02/01/2006 17:31

Happy New Year to all the June 2006 mummies!

LilacBump · 03/01/2006 10:30

hi laura, the pain is a lot less today and it is the last day of the course of anti-biotics. if it does get worse again, i will go straight to the GP.

Hello everyone,

I'm due with my first child on 06/06/06 so if i'm having a boy it might get called Damien!

I was lucky enough to miss any sickness however I was exhausted in the early months.

At present I don't feel a lot different, apart from the bigger belly and breasts of course. Anyone else feel this way?

I'm waiting to feel my baby move.. not sure if he/she has or not.

Looking forward to 20 week scan soon. :-)

diddle · 03/01/2006 17:08

vbab78 - welcome to our lovely group, congratulations on your first pregnancy, it will be my first child too. I feel huge, have felt baby move a few times, but it can easily be mistaken for wind or tummy rumbling, you'll feel it soon enough.

My Dh has suggested Damien if ours is born on the 6th we're due the 8th. It woudl be easy to remember though.

LilacBump · 03/01/2006 18:08

welcome vbab78! my baby's due on 06/06/06 too and we're considering lucy for a girl, short for lucifer.

trinity1 · 03/01/2006 19:50

Hi everyone. Hope you all had a good christmas and New Year. Went abroad for a few days and have had abdominal pains since New Years Eve. Am terrified. Hospital want to arrange a scan for Thursday to check everything is ok. Anyone have any words of advice? xxx

vbab78 · 03/01/2006 21:30

Thanks for the reassurance diddle.

Good name for a girl lilacbump. Sounds quite innocent.

It's really nice to be able to speak to others at the same stage of pregnancy.

Laura032004 · 04/01/2006 07:27

vbab78 - congratulations & welcome to the group

trinity - Sorry to hear about the pains If it's any consolation I had a lot of pains with DS, and have been having a lot more with this pg, but the scans don't show any reason why.
Could you contact your MW to get her to check for the heartbeat - that would put your mind at rest until the scan. Last time, a lot of my pains were helped by antibiotics, so the GP thinks they were UTI's or something. How high is your pain? Mine this time are v.low, and feel identical to bad period pain, or what early labour felt like. Best wishes for the scan.

I've got a MW appt this afternoon, so hopefully get to hear the heartbeat for the first time. So far I've just had my booking in with the MW, so quite excited about this one

diddle · 04/01/2006 09:07

laura - hope your appointment goes well, i bet you're excited, i know i was when i heard the heartbeat.

Trinity - the only pains i ahve had this pregnancy have been pains fron wind and constipation, which have been quite intense at times. I would definitly get it checked out, but shouldn't think its anything to worry about.

trinity1 · 04/01/2006 10:06

Hi all. The GP said I may have a UTI but wants to wait until the scan before giving me anything for it. The pain is low down like period pain and lasts for 5-10 seconds at a time every 10 minutes or so. I'm sure its nothing but being a first pregnancy think its just fear of the unknown that's making me worried. Scan is tomorrow so fingers crossed all is well. xxx

trinity1 · 04/01/2006 10:09

ps - Laura, all the best for your MW appt this afternoon.

slinkstah · 04/01/2006 11:33

trinity sounds like contractions, relax, drink lots of water- being dehydrated can be irritant to uterus.
your dr sounds strange asking you to wait until scan before giving you anything, its prob uti, did dr not test urine?

16 weeks today for me, i showed loads last night looked 6 months or so but then went loo and was barely showing again still its prob good im not showing that much as i am not planning on telling family and friends till 24 weeks

slinkstah · 04/01/2006 11:35

in fact if your pains are regular as in every 10 minutes i reckon you should just go into hospital today and get seen, more than 4 contractions an hour means go to hospital.

Laura032004 · 04/01/2006 11:47

trinity1 - how long have they been every 10 minutes for? If I had pains that regular, I would probably pitch up at the maternity unit and see what they say. I'm sure once you are there they will check you over. If you take a sample of urine with you (I hate having to do one under pressure) they will be able to check for a UTI with a simple dipstick test. Hope it all goes well.

LilacBump · 04/01/2006 12:19

trinity, if it's a UTI, they can indeed dipstick your urine sample to test if there is protein in it. it's possible to have cramps low down in your tummy (bit like period pain or some people describe it as a knitting needle being stabbed in there, lovely huh?), but it worries me that you say they come and go in regular intervals. as others have said, i'd contact the maternity ward at your hospital or the midwife at least.

on a side note, i finished my second course of anti-biotics now and i'm still in the same amount of pain. i handed in a urine sample to be tested this morning, so i will hopefully find out if it's still a UTI or if the pain could be muscle related or something. either way, it needs to be sorted as it's not nice to be in pain all the time.

and laura, good luck for your mw appointment.
