thanks guys for the consolation..so im not the only one with pelvic pain...feels good :o
kellastar i think ur about to go into labour soon with all those symptoms..and i mean it in a good way :)

ppl used to tell me last month is usually very bad..i was trying not to think that by keeping myself busy..and relaxing..as i don't know how it would be once the baby comes..
but with the snow/ice outside..im stuck at home:(..wish it was a summers baby...should do better planning next time..lol

notso good to know someone has the same due date as mine :)

and by the way, my baby does move around quite a lot even now..does that mean i have more time to go?? Confused

frankenfanny · 01/12/2010 16:10

How is everyone today? The snow is lovely for the kids and everyone who just needs to be tuckeD up at home but must be nightmare for you that are still working and all of us who worry about getting to hospital/ midwives coming out for a homebirth.

HAve just skim read back and wanted to say, massive congratulations to joboPip, hope you are blissful. Your post really moved me, not in a sad or bad way, I am so happy for you.

Been for a 38 week check, next one 40 weeks when they have offered me a sweep, really anxious not to go over this time. Baby is only 1/5 palpable so Midwife thinks could go any time though.

Got my co-codamol eventually , still got a few things to get but nothing vital. My DOula is away and my mum is blocked off with snow so if I go into labour now there will be no child care, we will have to manage somehow!

I'm really wishing for Xmas that everyone's hassles get resolved and all our births go smoothly.

DP is being very helpful and considerate but there is one thing we cannot agree on- a name for this little one. She is going to be known as "baby" for a year at this rate :)

Miffster · 01/12/2010 16:23

Thanks Indith!

Well hello again everyone.
I managed to go back to bed for 2 hours this morning, then was woken by Thames water ringing to explain themselves. the man I spoke to was excited but clueless, his wife has a DD of 8th December!

He kept saying that they would supply me with lots of bottled water and I said I had bottled water, the issue was the birth pool. He said they would supply enough for the pool and I said, no, that's very kind but you don't understand, the pool is like a giant hot bath that ladies in labour sit in and the hot water helps with the pain and you keep topping it up. I can't have a baby in a cold bath of bottled water!

He was very crestfallen.

Anyway the upshot is they are going to work like the clappers tomorrow and try to finish up by 4pm, and that will be it as far as major work and disruption to water supply goes. Hope so, the entire street is like a building site as they are replacing the ancient Victorian pipes and have dug up the whole road.

Tiny, stay where you are! crosses legs

Sympathies to everyone trapped in the snow and worrying about ambulances/husbands/food supplies. It's all a bit tense isn't it?

Also sympathies to everyone with creaking pelvises, nausea, backache, heartburn, tiredness and all the rest of it. At least the utter crapness of the weather makes staying in eating cake and doing nothing an entirely appropriate lifestyle choice.

Argh on my phone, broken down on the side of the motorway! Cannot believe it. Were on way to hospital and don't know if we will even get there tonight now... Must be a conspiracy. Oh and I need a wee!

KittyBump · 01/12/2010 16:43

Hi everyone - Happy December Grin
who'd of thought we'd all be sat here with various levels of snowed-in-ness at the start of December! I have a 4x4 on standby but I don't think this LO is making an appearance anytime soon. Just had my 38 wk appt and baby is 3/5 engaged, DF I have been wondering about my baby's position too as I often have a hard lump just above my left hip (like it's trying to burst out just there!) but the GP says this is the shoulders. Myself and DH are both fairly well endowed in the shoulder department so I'm thinking this LO may well have a cracking set of shoulders on it too Shock

also I may have a UTI, I have to pop in with another sample tomorrow :(

Miffster I hope they get the work done in time for you. Poor clueless Thames Water Man, just imagine topping up a birth pool with a 500ml bottle of evian!!

I'm a bit sad I won't be making it out to yoga tonight, just doesn't seem a good idea in the snowy icyness :(

Happy Due Date owo and lauren

Thinking of you C&G, sorry you sound so miserable....it'll be worth it in the end

laurenamium · 01/12/2010 16:46

Oh no c&g is there someone to come and get you?are you wrapped up enough?!

OnlyWantsOne · 01/12/2010 16:52

[waves at lauren] happy due date dear

CheeseandGherkins · 01/12/2010 16:53

Waiting for the rac should be here soon. Luckily have warm clothes on and scarf etc. Ooh rac are here now!

GreenGeekGirl · 01/12/2010 17:49

Oh no C&G! Hope the rescue people get there asap Sad

laurenamium · 01/12/2010 18:11

Hi OWO happy due date to you too!sounds like yours is going to come before mine! Grin

OnlyWantsOne · 01/12/2010 18:13

doubt it, I will have to join the Jan thread!!

GreenGeekGirl · 01/12/2010 18:22

I have actually now outgrown even my maternity clothes - twenty four hour pyjama-wearing for me from now on then! Grin

OnlyWantsOne · 01/12/2010 18:34

greengeekgirl I only had 2 pairs of mat jeans left, the under bump ones the crotch ripped out of them - and now my jersey over bump ones the jersey bit is ripped from where ive been pulling them up, I cant justify buying new ones!!

laziness · 01/12/2010 18:35

thanks frankenfanny and miffster for the sympathies..i guess we all need them at the moment :)
CheeseandGherkins i hope ur car is ok now and u've reached the hospital safely..sounds like a scene out of a movie..car breaking down on ur way to the hospital..Shock yikes!

miffster hope ur pool issue gets resolved soon..500 ml bottles of evian does not sound like a good idea Wink

happy due date to all the 1st december ones :)
22 more days to go till mine...feels like a never ending countdown...Hmm

DuelingFanio · 01/12/2010 18:47

CheeseandGerkins hope you are ok Shock were you alone?

miffster I can't believe that the man on the phone thought bottled water would be an option - what a numpty.

I've been scared by the health visitor, she said that judging by my bump I must be about to give birth Shock I am not ready! I still think it'll be late but, really, what do I know? No signs of anything happening apart from quite a lot of baby movement last-night in bed but then I might be one of those women who suddenly goes into labour without any warning.

Maternity leave is starting to bore me to be honest, I stayed in bed for ages today then had the health visitor then went shopping which gave me back ache. Came home to find DH's brother here; he's really irritating. DH works 8 - 4 where as I worked 9.30 - 5.30 so was never really aware that his brother calls round so often. I hope he's not expecting to do the same when the baby is here.

laurenamium · 01/12/2010 18:51

maternity clothes I'm down to my last 2 pairs of leggings and even one of those have holes in!and 3 tops all black that are long and loose enough so I look like a ninja daily at the minute Grin

Wholelottalove · 01/12/2010 19:04

OWO and GGG I'm also knocking about in ripped mat jeans where the over the bump bit meets the jeans bit, but like you say there's no point in getting more at this stage. These were the only thing that fitted me at this stage last time too. I'm having to wash them overnight so I have something to put on again the next day. I am going to burn them in the back garden once this baby is out!

C&G poor you, glad RAC turned up quickly and hope you made it to the hospital ok.

miffster legs crossed! The thought of filling a birth pool with bottled water did make me laugh. Had visions of you boiling kettles of bottled water to bring the temperature up or something. What a muppet.

DF I shouldn't worry about the HV - how the hell can she tell anything just by looking at your bump anyway?

Feels like it has been a long day today even though DD was very sweet. It's just knackering with a toddler and I feel sooo slow and cumbersome doing anything. I've found out the local children's centre do a sing/activity session for toddlers on a Thursday morning so we're going to go to that tomorrow.

CherylAnnTweedy · 01/12/2010 19:30

C&G It's one thing after another for you, hope you've got to hospital in the warm now.

I'm also tramping about in crappy jeans (luckily I haven't been wearing them until the last fortnight as I hate jeans) but they're the only thing that vaguely fit. I have 2 dresses that still fit, but the tights don't and I can't get my boots on, so jeans, trainers and DPs old hi vis work coat it is. Good look I must say! Hmm

Miffster legs crossed indeed! Some people have no idea at all!

I'm usually jealous of all the snow everywhere else in the country, but just for once I'm very glad that we don't get snow here so no problems with mw getting to me when the time comes.

I'm also getting very bored and fed up of all the contractions I'm getting. I've never had contractions before labour before so I'm really not used to it and just don't see the point of them without a final outcome. Grrr!

CheeseandGherkins · 01/12/2010 19:44

Well tonight was a bit of a farce, Rac got us to the garage and then brought us home but I can't get into the hospital tonight now so DH called them and explained and I have to try and get in tomorrow now. Living this far from them is a right pain. Bloody new car as well, only done 120 miles! Cannot believe it. Everything else is fine with me and baby, I think she's moved again though, not sure where to. Thank you for the thoughts and well wishes everyone, I appreciate them a lot :) Please keep fingers crossed for a head down baby tomorrow!

WLL same with mat clothes, a lot of the jeans don't fit now and aren't comfy at all unless I sit with them undone! That's the underbump ones though as I preferred them earlier on but now prefer the overbump ones.

DF ooh exciting, with DD my waters went with no warning and I had her the next day but DS1 was niggles for a week...DS2 fairly similar. I wasn't alone thankfully, DH was driving me there while my mum watched the dcs.

laziness welcome, I'm due on the 23rd too. Car is at the garage now and due to be looked at in the morning!

OWO hope things get going properly for you soon, you must be so fed up.

GGG snap on the mat clothes

kitty hope you don't have a UTI

Miffster Lol at Thames Water, hope you get all that sorted out, can't imagine being without water! Must be quite a worry for you. I hope they get it finished quickly tomorrow.

franken wow 1/5 palpable is really low, didn't think babies engaged properly until labour after the first one! Sounds like you won't be long now.

crazy sounds like you had a fun day, not quite enough snow for snowmen here as yet.

kelle Sounds like something is starting to happen with you

notso I'm glad they're listening to your concerns now, must make it a little easier for you.

SlightlyTired · 01/12/2010 20:42

C&G, what a drama! I really really hope that baby has turned tomorrow - and that your car behaves itself this time!!

Frankenfanny we are having the same problem here with names. We just can't decide/agree.

Miffster - that is hilarious. As luxurious as giving birth in Evian sounds, it could be a little chilly. Part of me is actually amazed that you're managing to have such a personal dialogue with Thames Water! At least they are willing to listen and try to limit the inconvenience. To be honest I can't imagine getting the same kind of approach from too many utility companies - it's usually impossible to get past the automated phone menu!

KittyBump they thought I might have a UTI as well as there were leukocytes in my sample, but it didn't turn out to be anything - hope you have the same experience.

CAT I am with you on the endless contractions without any progression. I'm due tomorrow and all day today and all night last night I've had irregular contractions. With DD this went on for a week. It is so frustrating. DH keeps asking me if I'm having the baby yet. Err, I think I'll let him know. Hmm On the upside, I only had a 6 hour labour with DD and no epidural needed - so perhaps all of this really does help...

It was meant to snow here today, but nothing so far. Just as well really, since it would definitely settle, it's so cold and dry out there.

In-laws have rung pretty much every night - and MIL rang at 8.20 yesterday morning. DH just got cross at me because I didn't want to speak to them. Seriously, there's only so many times you can say "no, haven't had the baby yet". Gggrrr.

DuelingFanio · 01/12/2010 20:56

I am dreading the 'anything happened yet?' calls. I have been deliberately not updating my facebook so that people get used to me not being constantly present.

Due date not until 11th though so I have a while before people start bugging me - I hope!

DH and can't agree on a name for a girl. I know what I want but he doesn't like it. I hope seeing me give birth will mean he lets me have my way as it's a name which has special meaning for me. If it's a boy then we're pretty much sorted but I want him to agree not to discuss the names with family as I know they will all want to make suggestions etc. SIL has already said she doesn't like masculine sounding names for girls - woops.

laziness · 01/12/2010 21:19

C&G i hope ur car gets fixed well before 23rd :)
i'm just hating the ice on the roads..i hope it doesn't create trouble for any of us on our 'important' trip to the hospital :)
Duelinganio I can sooo relate to ur name problem :)
DH and I just can't agree on anything! a friend suggested that we should finalise a name and simply announce it rather than asking the entire family for suggestions...which we did initially..
but we just can't agree on anything! and the one name i was in love with was not 'liked' by my SIL Xmas Angry

laurenamium · 01/12/2010 21:48

laziness Grin at asking your whole family for suggestions! I could think of nothing worse than trying to referee the naming of a baby amongst my family!

MrsSnaplegs · 02/12/2010 05:10

Morning all - hope everyone is ok and not too snowed in!! We have got a good 2-3 inches here which considering how far south we are is a bit of a miracle. DD will be exstatic Grin - not sure if school will be open for her or not. Planning on making mince pies and Xmas biscuits today as she has her Xmas Fayre on Saturday, had to go and buy her new pyjamas yesterday as they are supposed to be the "costumes" for the Xmas concert on Monday, I couldn't let her go in her real pyjamas as they are all a bit short in the leg Shock Had to buy her age 6-7 and she's only just 5 1/4 !

Luckily we have a Landrover so I know as long as the batttery isn't flat we can get to hospital (dependent on other road users Hmm )For those of you with serious snow it may be worth finding out which is your local 4x4 /Landrover rescue through Google and getting in touch now, they will all help out if they can and will probably give you a contact for someone to phone if you are stuck Wink

C&G I can only imagine how you felt getting stuck in the car, must have been a nightmare, hope you insist garage give you a decent replacement vehicle. Also hope LO manages to turn soon.

OWO Hope you are ok - you must be really fed up by now.

CAT I know what you mean about wearing DH clothes/ coats - I have no problems wearing my DH clothes but couuld you imagine if I caught him wearing mine Wink

DF Definately think some re-education on net forums needed Grin
