good luck C&G..i know its not easy but u r in the best place..don't worry all will be well :)

By the way...i came to Mumsnet after a long time..since my maternity leave started i have been socialising with friends quite alot..so have been more busy :D..but with the snowfall in london today...i've been grounded by my hubby :(..he says he doesn't want me to slip on the ice...yikes...

By the way...
i'm 36 weeks 5 days pregnant..and just wanted to see how others in here r doing :)
its my first time..due date 23rd Dec..
baby's head got engaged in my 36th week..
and i get a bad pain in my pelvic bones when i bend or something..just wondering if anyone else also has such a pain or am i the only lucky one?:P
my midwife says first timers don't usually go into labour before 38 weeks..
i kind of still have a constipation..do i have to have a diarrhoea before going into labour??

laziness · 30/11/2010 23:48

By the way...good luck to all those who r due in December(like me)...it's December..finally...yaaayy :D
Happy December to all...hope it goes perfectly for all of us.:)

Wholelottalove · 01/12/2010 00:10

Happy December everyone and welcome laziness I think pelvic pain is fairly normal at this stage, especially with baby engaged. I'm getting quite a lot of pain in my pelvis.

I can't sleep tonight. Baby has decided to be really active and has pretty violent hiccups, plus got restless legs. Going to bounce on the ball for a bit and see if that sorts me out.

SlightlyTired · 01/12/2010 04:01

C&G that sucks. Sad I hope she turns for you and your hospital stay is a short one. If you do have to go in tonight make sure to take lots of good books and try to see it as a bit of rest before the big day. Two weeks sounds like an awfully long time but soon you'll have your little baby in your arms and you can forget about all of this.

Miffster hope you got the water sorted - I would be hopping mad.

Have been having very irregular but quite strong contractions since about 5pm. One woke me up at half two and haven't been back to sleep since. Sigh - if this one is anything like last time this could go on for days...

Miffster · 01/12/2010 04:45

Welcome laziness
Good luck C&G, thinking of you
WLL hope you got some sleep eventually
crazy sorry you are in pain
notso sorry about the itching and your DH being U
Oooh, Slightly, do you think you are next? A very punctual December baby for you?
I can't sleep because of DH's shattering snoring. When he goes to work I will try and go back to sleep in the day.

Nothing so far on the Thames Water situation. I am expecting to have to put up with no water all day Thursday but if they do it again after tomorrow I will try to insist that they turn the water off for no more than 2 hours, not all day (not sure if I can insist but turning it off all day knowing I am about to have a baby at home any moment seems extreme).

MW 38 week visit last night, baby 2/5 engaged 'as far down as they can get without you being in labour'. Next visit on NHS DD, December 14th. I wouldn't mind at all if he held on to then. I could do with the chance to rest, to be honest.

Definitly happy December :)
Think this is the first year haven't bothered to buy an advent calender for myself ..because I don't care at all how soon Christmas comes this year, just little baby :D
(bit Blush at my age but still...)

Miffster how widespread is the water problem, is it the whole street affected?

notso · 01/12/2010 09:36

Finally it is December, am so ready for this baby to come now.

C&G Poor you Sad I hope you LO stablises soon so you don't have to stay in.

lauren shame about the sweep, have you thought about taking Evening Primrose to help get your cervix ready?

MrsSL at least you have moved out before the flooding!

japh They have done LFT test but I'm not sure of the results, they only tell me Bile acid results. Community M/W is coming round today so will ask her.

crazy I can sympathise with the hip pain, it is rubbish.

WLL very slippy here too. Sounds like a good idea for today.

laziness Hi, I am also due on 23rd.

slightly hows things now? Hope things aren't too drawn out for you if this is it, I had similar with DS, it is so draining.

Miffster hope you LO stays put and you get your rest.

Midwife visiting today, haven't seen her since end of August! Feeling knackered, really want to get out the house. DH off on Friday so hopefully we will go somewhere. I am desparate to do a deep clean everywhere but I can't manage it. Think I will put my tree up on Saturday.

CherylAnnTweedy · 01/12/2010 09:54

Hi all, just back from mw. I'm really struggling (what's new?!), baby is very low, she can only just feel the tip of it's head (2/5 out, so 3/5 engaged). It's such an odd sensation as I can feel babys head pushing against my pelvis when I walk or sit up. I'm very very restless, can't sit still or concentrate on anything at all. 39wks today, so still potentially another 3 weeks to go. EEk!!

laurenamium · 01/12/2010 10:13

Hi all it's happy due date today for me and owo lol

notso what does evening primrose oil do?

ButtonAzure · 01/12/2010 10:41

happy due date to you guys!

has anyone else had a horrible return of nausea and feeling sick?its just like being back at the beginning, urgh!

notso · 01/12/2010 11:00

Happy Due Date lauren hope you don't have too long in 'limbo' before something happens.
Evening primrose oil is a source of prostaglandin so can help to get your cervix ready, it won't send you into labour but when I used the caps as a pessary rather than just swallowing them I did have a bit of a show. If you do a search on here there is a thread with a good link about how they work and how much to take.

laurenamium · 01/12/2010 11:52

Ah lovely thanks notso I probably should have been using them for a while but I'm fairly useless!

Chooster · 01/12/2010 11:55

Oooh wonder if OWO has had the baby????

C&G - Such a shame your LO is in a odd position, hopefully she'll move again as she's been fairly mobile so far hasn't she... I know a hospital stay is a massive pain in the neck but at least you'll be in the right place when the time comes. Presume DP is able to look after the kids? Such a shame this close to xmas... Fingers crossed for you.

Slightly - so things may be moving for you too??!!!! Hoorrraayyy!!!

After ages wanting this baby out I'd like him to stay put a little longer. We are now totally snowed in and its piled up well over the the tops of the wheel arches so there is no hope of getting the car out to get to hospital. The weather guys say its going to get worse over the next 24 hrs then maybe ease up a bit. Due date tomorrow but hopefully now I'll be a little late Hmm. The only good thing is we are walking distance from a big main road, so may be able walk to an ambulance... Hmm. but boy is it cold. We're east coast of Scotland and its meant to be -13 tonight and -20 on friday - Yikes!!!!!

Hope everyone is safely tucked inside their houses - Happy 1st December!! Smile

DuelingFanio · 01/12/2010 12:16

Happy due date you two.

notso · 01/12/2010 12:20

button I started being sick again a few weeks back, not as bad as the early days, but pretty much every morning and after I brush my teeth, I think it's all the pressure from the bump.

lauren this is my third pregnancy and I had never heard of them before.

chooster sounds worrying. I am usually jealous of anyone getting snowed in but not at the moment.

Does OWO have a thread on the go? Whats the news?

Saw my lovely Midwife today, she has backed up my worries about the size of the baby and how I'm going to manage the delivery. Finally I feel someone is listening, she has contacted ante-natal clinic at the hospital and told them to note her concerns and is coming round again next Tuesday to see how my Friday review has gone.

CheeseandGherkins · 01/12/2010 12:24

Thanks everyone. Well I'm still at home and waiting for the hospital to call me back as they have no beds at the moment. The ward is going to speak to my consultant and team and see what they suggest. I'm hoping that maybe going in for frequent monitoring might be enough and may suggest that myself if they still can't take me in. I spent last night trying lots of different positions to try and get her to move and I think she has, can't feel her head under my right ribs anymore but I don't know where it's moved to! Possibly the left side top but if bum is down in my pelvis that would be preferable as the cord prolapse risk would be lower. From what I've been reading the risk of cord prolapse is about 1% with a transverse lie so that's still fairly low. Assuming I read that right.

Well, scrap that, just had a call and they now have a bed so I'm going in this afternoon. I should still have the internet there on my phone etc but I need to get some more things packed and sorted out.

I've read the thread but not had a chance to post, I'm sure I'll have plenty of time later! Please keep your fingers and everything crossed for me that this baby moves as I'll then be allowed home!!

Hope everyone is well.

Wholelottalove · 01/12/2010 12:43

C&G hope the baby has moved for you and you'll be able to come back home. Let us know how you get on.

Happy due date to those due today. I am partially jealous and partially pleased that I have another 2 and a bit weeks to go, as I feel in need of rest too. Was so shattered this morning I fell asleep with DD in front of DVD and was woken up by her prodding me after about 15 minutes. I think she was a bit upset I was asleep.

Just went out in the ice to get her out of the house only to discover at the checkout in the supermarket that DH has not transferred money into my account and my card was declined. Bit embarrassing and the checkout boy (who was about 12 and spotty) was smirking at me, the wanker.

chooster hope baby stays put for you for a bit until the snow situation eases.

DuelingFanio · 01/12/2010 12:44

Oh good luck C&G I hope you're not hanging around too long and that the baby moves for you. x

OnlyWantsOne · 01/12/2010 13:17

CandG hope everything goes well
:)

Im due today but there is no sign of the little pudding! In the last two days Ive had on and off contractions and thought my waters had gone, had a horrid show last night and now I have thrush and a dodgy tummy, but no baby! (major TMI for you all)

Have booked online shop to arrive tomorrow night, (I really dont want to leave the house) so maybe I will have the baby during my tesco slot of 8 - 10 tomorrow!!

DD is being a PITA but I think its because shes picked up on me being unsettled and because I havent taken her to school this week as the ice is so bad I dont think its worth the risk of driving her there just to do some painting!

Am going to make a ginger bread house this afternoon :) then smash it violently eat it.

GreenGeekGirl · 01/12/2010 14:10

Good luck C&G - will be thinking about you!

Hi laziness - my pelvis isn't feeling to happy at the moment either. I had just assumed that was pretty standard at this stage but perhaps not?!

Happy EDD Lauren and OWO!

kellestar · 01/12/2010 14:23

OWO It sounds like it's getting ready, but not interested in making an arrival just yet. I love making gingerbread houses and then eating them. I like to make mine look like the one in hansel and gretel with jelly tots, buttons etc. It's such a festive thing to do as well. Also try warming some cranberry juice in the microwave, it's tasty with gingerbread and helps with thrush.

Lauren EPO can be taken orally as well, as you are now at your due date taken 4 capsules daily. It's good your cervix is soft, hopefully it'll start to open before your next sweep. And if you can't stomach the raspberry leaf tea as it's a little vile, try mixing it with cranberry and raspberry juice. I'm obsessed with the stuff, but it takes some of the vileness out. :)

C&G I hope that LO moves around for you and/or they monitor you from home, rather than being on ward.

notso glad someones finally listened, it's very frustrating when your ignored. Fingers crossed they look after you now.

chooster It's exciting being snowed in, but scary when you realise there isn't a way to get out. Do you know anyone with a 4 wheel drive vehicle [landrover] etc? that could rescue you if needs be. I can't believe I'm monitoring every weather report and comparing amounts.

button nausea comes and goes but not as bad as 1st trimester. Certain smells set me off. Still off chocolate so no advent calendar for me, but I really hope that once LO arrives things will go back to normal.

CAT ikwym it feels like my pelvis is being pushed apart at times, that's when I know LO is in the right position. It's even more uncomfortable to move around and bend, then suddenly it frees up, so know it's then moved. I would say things may happen soon for you if the pressure is constant, sounds like LO's negotiating their way out.

laziness welcome to the group. I think pelvic pain is common at this stage, though I've had SPD for a little while now and the pelvic pain has changed along the way, now feels like my pelvis is opening up to make way, but then LO shifts and it closes again, painfully.

I'm 38+3 and LO keeps moving around, ROT/ROA are the favoured positions. They aren't checking me again until next Friday. It still seems likes there is plenty of room for manouvers, so thinking I may go overdue, but then last night woke up at 2am with back ache, BH and cramps and came down to bounce on my ball for a bit, lots of pelvic pain as well, LO felt engaged and wondered if this was the start, warmed up my heat wrap and went back to bed as it's freezing, pains kept on until about 5 and then disappated. My nipples have been really leaking again, 4 pads in a 24 hour period, and they both seem to be leaking equalish amounts, though often not at the same time.

I too have been banned from leaving the house as the ice is sooo bad, the snow isn't the problem as such, our lane doesn't get gritted, or get the sun so it doesn't melt, just layers and more snow then compressed on top just makes it evil. The farm use the yard scraper along the lane to 'help' but it just makes it smooth like an ice rink. I am so unstable anyhow. More snow expected tomorrow and friday in our area. Other end of the village has icing sugar coating, our end being on the hill has still got 3-4 inches hanging around.

DuelingFanio · 01/12/2010 14:37

Just had the health visitor. She seems nice though mentioned Netmums Grin

crazykat · 01/12/2010 14:45

Just got back in from making snowmen it the garden - well watching DD and DS make one. I'm frozen and my feet are soaked coz I was wearing trainers. The DC's are lovely and dry in their snow boots got specially today, shame I didn't think to get some for myself.

I'm torn between wanting to go into labour asap so I'll be more comfortable and wanting it to wait till the snow lets up. We've had loads the past two days and nights and more forcast every day till friday and sub-zero temperatures till then too.

On the plus side I managed to get to the shops with my parents this morning so we've at least got food in the house if we do get stuck, I just hope DH can get home from work tonight.

OnlyWantsOne · 01/12/2010 14:54

DF your health visitor clearly needs a reeducation!!

GreenGeekGirl · 01/12/2010 15:39

I've been quite bemused about the raspberry leaf tea hatred because I've been very much enjoying it but just realised that the brand I've been drinking has quite a lot of other stuff in it, which must make it taste more delicious. Anyway, it's the one made by Clipper if anyone wants to try it.
