Just a new thread as I noticed we are near the limit (again)!

OP posts:

EauRouge · 02/11/2010 10:42

Morning. I am getting increasingly bitchy hormonal and am trying to avoid people as much as possible (apart from my pub mates, who seem to be amused by my sweary rants). Anyone else been feeling like this? I wouldn't say that I'm not enjoying this pregnancy, but I think that many of my friends and family members will be glad when the baby arrives Grin

mubm · 02/11/2010 11:10

Hi ladies! I'd love to join you here! I'd given up on finding a "due in feb" thread, but I'd only been looking under pregnancy. I'm due on the 18th (my own more accurate due date)with baby boy no 2. :)

knittakid · 02/11/2010 11:12

that's good advice deliaskis (re spooks)! I wish I had that to look forward to geeky, sounds like an amazing mat leave! I missed it yesterday, so will watch it on replay, and I too love Lucas, and yes, even more if he's bad... I have to say I really like the new girl they have in this series, was always a bit annoyed by the others.

TPT! ohh, apparently I've shrank... Sad

Welcome mubm congrats, I have two boys, it's fab!

Hello everyone else, how are you all feeling today. I feel really mean, I haven't bought anything for this bubba. Well a pushchair but that was more of a swapsie really as sold the other one. I guess I have been really superstitious about this PG and don't want to tempt fate. It will be the hand me down kid though! Esp if it's another boy!

ZeroMinusZero · 02/11/2010 11:44

Were currently on pram, cot and bouncy chair but are refusing to buy clothes as are expecting lots for xmas and as hand me downs and so on. Of course if we don't get many clothes well be very short but getting the cot felt like quite a big step so we can calm down with buying things for a few weeks... Until I get my next hormonal urge to go shopping again!

byronicheroine · 02/11/2010 12:44

Well done, deliaskis - it's what I really wanted to ask!! My mum and stepmum have been busy knitting so no worries about cardis, but it's nice to have an idea of what they'll be wearing day to day. Hopefully we'll all be able to take advantage of the Jan sales (or at least send other people out for us with shopping lists!), what great timing - well done us!
TPT - 7
I just broke off what I thought was a generous amount of TP only to find it wasn't enough [bonfire night Blush]

angels1 · 02/11/2010 12:56

I don't think I've managed a single meal time in the past few days without spilling food on my bump. There's now a big tummy in front of the plate so there's further to reach the food from the table and it seems to fall right onto the bump Blush . I can only imagine this getting to epic proportions in a few months! Maybe I'm just an incredibly messy eater?! Hmm

I've been quite rude/snappy eaurouge too - am being quite snappy with MIL and parents keep telling me not to get cross at them, when I feel I'm just talking in a perfectly reasonable and normal way...

OP posts:
Deliaskis · 02/11/2010 13:06

angels am laughing out loud (in my office, fortunately nobody else here!) at your spilling food on bump, as I am just the same. When we moved in, we used to eat most meals at the table, and then gradually got more lazy and ended up eating most meals on the sofa in front of the TV [slob icon]. We're now having to graduate back to the table as I can't get food from a plate on my lap to my mouth without half of it going on the bump! S'good though, we wanted to get back into the table habit for when baby is growing up.

D

angels1 · 02/11/2010 13:10

I'm glad it's not just me delia. I try to strain my head forwards in an indian dancer/tortoise type way to counteract the bump when eating but find this very uncomfy (and too Blush to do it in front of anyone). I think I'll have to take to wearing an apron during meals to keep my clothes clean Wink

OP posts:
GuyFawkesIsMyLoveSlave · 02/11/2010 13:10

I always drop food on the bump; haven't got any better at eating without mess over successive pregnancies Blush.

smallblackflowers · 02/11/2010 13:16

TPT - am 9 sheets today, that's an increase of 1 sheet in 3 weeks. I expect it would probably have been more had I actually been able to eat any food in the last 3 days, although I have just managed a few mouthfuls of macaroni cheese, which is something at least - just not got any appetite [self pitying emoticon]

I don't feel like I've done anything to prepare for DS yet, but have 4 weeks of mat leave before my EDD, so hopefully plenty of time to get everything sorted. Have been worrying a bit in the last week about my low lying placenta and hoping that it is moving in the right direction...really don't want a section...

geekygiraffe · 02/11/2010 13:22

Um, [ignorant emoticon]. What's TPT?

byronicheroine · 02/11/2010 13:33

TPT means Toilet Paper Tuesday and involves measuring round the largest bit of your bump with toilet paper (usually every Tuedsay :) ) It just means that we can look at how much we are changing without any scary inches getting in the way Blush
sbf You're not eating anything? try something plain - bagels did it for me, or chicken soup if all else fails (homemade by someone else for best result)

wigglesrock · 02/11/2010 13:47

smallblackflowers you have my full sympathy re lack of appetite, even if I'm not being sick I just have absolutely no interest in food. DDs Halloween sweets are still sitting in the kitchen which is a minor miracle in itself and I still have buns/cakes etc left over from dd2 birthday party.

I do am keeping my fingers crossed that low lying placenta shifts, have 2 midwife appts this week so will get more info hopefully!!

smallblackflowers · 02/11/2010 13:55

thanks for the sympathy guys Smile
wiggles at least mine is just a tummy bug and will go away at some point soon - yours is still ms isn't it?
Lots of fingers crossed for our disobedient placentas too - my midwife had nothing to add last week - hopefully yours will have a bit more to say on the matter! From what I've read they can leave it until the last minute to move away from the cervix too - my next scan it at 32 weeks, but guess they will scan again on a weekly basis after that point until it comes to crunch time.

WanderingSheep · 02/11/2010 14:02

I almost forgot about TPT!

Okaaay! I've shrunk Hmm I'm 7 and three quarters but last week I was 8 and a quarter. It's cheered me up actually because I've just seen a friend who is just 6 weeks behind and I felt huuuuge in comparison!

smallblackflowers · 02/11/2010 14:14

Very excited to read that I'm now in the 3rd trimester - its all downhill from here until d-day Grin

geekygiraffe · 02/11/2010 14:15

TPT = 8!

40FawkesyWeeks · 02/11/2010 14:36

Went to the shops in a bid to buy something for baby and there were hardly ANY unisex baby clothes, it was all pink or blue Sad so baby must remain HandMeDownJoe.

On the up side, I bought myself a poncho instead of anmatetnuty coat as figured I could still wear it afterwards Smile

I know what you mean about food though, bumps are messy!!

PDR · 02/11/2010 15:59

Hello everyone I have been absent for a while but now I am back!

When somebody next updates that stats I am having a BOY :) We already have a 2yr old DS so another little boy suits us just fine.

On a more negative note I am suffering badly from SPD - anyone else...? I am seeing an Osteopath tomorrow and am waiting to hear feom the OB physio at the hospital.

When is everyone starting their Mat leave? I am finishing on 22nd December and already counting down the weeks!!!

40 a poncho is a fab idea - might have to get one too! Thus far slouchy cardigans have done instead of a coat but its getting cold!

angels1 · 02/11/2010 16:11

Hello again PDR congrats on the boy :)

I was just looking online at baby books (hints/what to expect once the pregnancy bit is over with and I have a crying little angel to look after). Does anyone have any recommendations that have been there before? I'm currently thinking about buying the 'baby whisperer' book and [hides in the corner for fear of being shouted at] gulp, Gina Ford. I know she's a bit out there strict but I thought it might be interesting to read and just take bits I find would work for me. Any specific recommendations/what to avoid?

OP posts:
Highlandgirl · 02/11/2010 16:12

TPT = 8 and a bit....!

Really idiotic question about due dates..??? Confused

My last MSP started on the 11th May and I know 100% which day was the day bump was made...BlushBlushBlush (sorry TMI) 27 days cycle.. Anyway, question is i think my due date could / maybe be earlier...I've worked out 14th Feb but the doctors have told me 24th Feb?? Should I just forget it and go with what the docs have said or could I beat those clever medical minds and be right.....!!!! hahaha

Any advice would be great, even just to tell me to get a life and Baby HG will arrive when good and ready..!!

Oh a sad note, is it wrong that I don't want the baby to arrive in March..??

PDR · 02/11/2010 16:28

Re Due Date: I would always go with the latter date and if baby arrives early then it's a bonus. I was 2 weeks late with my 1st and it drove me up the wall with people asking me where the baby was all the time!
I don't think it's ever that accurate so just treat it as a rough guide and baby will come 2 weeks either side!

Re Books: I'd read as much as you can and then take what you like from each book... I am a huge fan of routines but you'll need some time to settle down before you even attempt one. I found in the early days baby was basically hungry, tired or wet.

geekygiraffe · 02/11/2010 17:04

On the next stat update, baby giraffe is an official surprise (gender).
About books - just ordered New Active Birth and Food of Love from Amazon. Will let you know what they're like...
