Just a new thread as I noticed we are near the limit (again)!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
smallblackflowers · 01/11/2010 16:57

zero what a nightmare about your doctor. 1st time around the first doc that I saw said the same, I went back again a week later after some furious googling and took a print out about pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy - just found it again here www.acpwh.org.uk/docs/ACPWH-PGP_Pat.pdf and was referred to a specialist pregnancy physio unit. It was also a different doc that I saw. Was promptly given a pelvic support belt, some manipulation that improved things and a pair of crutches!

smallblackflowers · 01/11/2010 16:58

giraffe try a really cold drink, something sugary and a lie down. Am sure everything is fine, but like you poor Lily's situation has also made me worry more than usual.

WanderingSheep · 01/11/2010 17:10

Giraffe, I second what SBF said. It's probably that your baby has moved into a different position where you can't feel the movements as much or they are just resting. I had similar worries a couple of weeks ago but all is fine now! Either cold or hot drink works for me.

TallulahBelly14 · 01/11/2010 17:24

Thanks for the print-out SBF - I think that's exactly what I have, it's just got progressively worse over the last couple of weeks. Having just been feeding myself paracetamols so far, but will see about one of these pelvic support belts - do you wear them under your clothes?

ZeroMinusZero · 01/11/2010 17:25

Thank you sbf I will read it in a second. I am annoyed that she didn't even mention spd and kept asking me about stomach pain and felt my stomach though I kept saying that it wasn't to do with my stomach. She said to contact my mw if it gets worse which is also odd... Or do mw have the power to refer to physio? In which case I might try my luck with mw instead

angels1 · 01/11/2010 17:51

zero I had to see GP to be referred to physio, but think it depends on your area. Mw would know though.

OP posts:
smallblackflowers · 01/11/2010 18:01

tallulah yes you do wear them under your clothes, although they can be a bit itchy, but I tend to wear over a bump band and under my top layer.

smallblackflowers · 01/11/2010 18:03

zero it sounds like your GP didn't know about pelvic problems in pregnancy - i guess they have to know so much about so many different health areas that they can't know about everything IYKWIM

knittakid · 01/11/2010 18:09

geeky mine moves for sure if I have something with cafeine (tea or coffee) or if I play music. Also if Dh and I argue...

How terrible about lilly allen, sorry to come on to the subject so late, and yes, not sure how people cope, but then I don't know how people cope in general.

Thanks for those name sugestions, was too busy during the weekend to change it, but promise to do better for Christmas.

Wishing everybody a good week. xxx

ledkr · 01/11/2010 19:28

wandering that was similar to us re the wedding. We live in my home town where i met dh who was already working here and had a house. My family are all here but his all in Essex and i just knew that it would be areal hassle having a big wedding;Grandparents not coming and people expecting to stay here etc.
I am feeling sad for Lily and at the same time worried it will happen to me.Baby has been very still for few hrs but was lively during my acupuncture so you are not the only ones. Thinks its just hearing that news.
Went to Dr and he has signed me off for month!! Cant believe it. I have never been off that long in my life.He also said he has no problem signing me off until i go on leave.I feel guilty but can feel myself relaxing and i had awalk round the shops earlier as its dh birthday tomorrow but i was in agony and knackered after 20 mins so why i think i can do work i have no idea?
angels yes i think about the others too.It could so easily have been any one of us.I do look out for them announcing pg but not seen anything recently.

40WickedWeeks · 01/11/2010 19:50

Evening all

I didn't know about Lily Allen til I read it on here. How awful for her, such a tragedy. My close friend and I were pg at the same time with my Dc2 and she lost her at 28 weeks. It was horrific what she went through and I felt so guilty when I had my baby. She sobbed when she first saw him, we both did.

But we must think positively girls, and remember how lucky we are at the moment. There is a wee bubba inside and all is well and have every faith it will be for all of us.

Congrats on the marriage geeky sounds lovely. I would love to get married again (still to my DH I hasten to add) but just to havethat special excitement all over again. I still remember waking up that morning and thinking OMG it's my wedding daaaaaaayyyyyyyy, yippee. Now I am just a boring wife though ha ha ha.

40WickedWeeks · 01/11/2010 19:51

And ledkr don't feel bad, the docs know what they're doing, you must need the rest or you wouldn't have been signed off

wigglesrock · 01/11/2010 20:19

Hello all, Ledkr glad you're starting to relax re being signed off, at least you can take your time doing things, not trying to fit in work, dd activities etc.

Congrats geeky, seems so long since I got married, 12 years and I seemed was soooo young Grin

Have had a rough couple of days, sickness is back as bad as ever, not eating as well or often as I should be, am starting to get uncomfortable and generally feeling blah!! Now my rant is officially over I can start to get ready for Spooks, ah poor Lucas he may be evil but I still love him (possibly even more, come let me mop your fevered brow Mr Armitage, sigh)

40FawkesyWeeks · 01/11/2010 21:21

Sorry to hear that Wiggles, seems so unfair to be I'll this far along. Where abouts in NI are you, I hbe lots if family in Co Down?

My cat has been very affectionate since in got pg, always sits next to me and cuddles up, very cute. But this evening she is grooming herself and her breath is rank [vomit emoticon]

40FawkesyWeeks · 01/11/2010 21:22

Sorry that should have been 'i'll' not I'll !! Damn phone

40FawkesyWeeks · 01/11/2010 21:22

Arrrrrrggghhhh

'ill'

wigglesrock · 01/11/2010 22:06

Phone being bold again 40Smile We're in Co. Antrim.

I remember when I got pregnant with dd1, my dog got very cuddley and protective, immediately stopped jumping up on me without being told!! Now of course the dog is in a constant huff with me as I am the bearer of the two annoying children who alternately try and dress her up, especially with sunglasses!! or try and put teddies, barbies on her back. Although she does get to snuffle up dropped biscuits etc.

Highlandgirl · 01/11/2010 22:33

Ohhh Ledkr ...Firstly Happy B-day for tomorrow....!!!!! Smile Here's to lots of yummy cake and lovely hugs. I'm sure it's bloody annoying for you being signed off... but you need to look after yourself, you can always go back before the month is up if you're are feeling better. Better to be off and resting fully than slogging your guts out at work.

Wiggles Errr sickness, what a pain. Did Spooks help??? Or are you now in a hot flush over Lucas North...Grin

Talking of Spooks...what the hell is going on in...?

xxx

Highlandgirl · 01/11/2010 22:34

Dohhhh DH's birthday not yours Ledkr...but even so hope tomorrow brings yummy cake and hugs xx

wigglesrock · 01/11/2010 22:57

Highlandgirl I'm always in a flush over Lucas North, Mr Wiggles just hurumphs and says "you always went for that type" which is true, I've known Mr Wiggles since I've been 16, and a tall, dark, large nosed, cruel mouthed boy always turned my head!! Which is strange because Mr Wiggles is none of those things Grin

I always feel crappy on Monday because I do all my hours at work from Fri-Mon so I think its just exhaustion. No work now until Fri, might have a look at some buggies/prams, moses baskets this week - starting to think about buying some things as I have the grand total of 3 babygros and 3 short sleeved bodysuits, that'll last about 15 mins Smile

geekygiraffe · 02/11/2010 09:08

Bought baby's first piece of clothing yesterday - a hugely impractical white teddybear snowsuit from asda (bargainous). Couldn't resist, but am waiting a few weeks before getting other baby clothes (going to use list in the Rough Guide to Pregnancy). Very excited about Friday though as going to buy (well, order) the buggy (woo hoo). Going for icandy peach, unless I hear many horror stories about them soon!
Saw Spooks for first time last night and it's amazing. Going to stock up on box sets for feeding / mat leave.
Have a good day : )

angels1 · 02/11/2010 09:41

Morning

TPT is 10 sheets this week. I'm definately getting bigger - there's no missing me. DH commented last night for the first time that I look like a 'preper pregnant lady' now Grin

Have been reading delias pg thread about baby clothes with interest and discovered there's newborn size and then there's 0 - 3 month size. Everything I've got is 0 - 3 month size. Is it really necessary for newborn size? I mentioned this to DH and he seemed to think you can just put a baby in 0 - 3 month size even if it's a bit big but I'm not sure. If it helps, I'm sure this baby will be at least average if not big (found out big babies run in DH family Confused and I was an avergae weight. Also scans always show average/above average growth/size).

OP posts:
Highlandgirl · 02/11/2010 09:50

Delias thread was brilliant...so glad she asked. Lots of really helpful points made by non first timers..! Will make DH read it before bubba arrives.

I've got some newborn stuff and just figured if it was to small i'd cut the feet off and pop on socks instead....Wink I picked them up in a local kids charity shop.

GuyFawkesIsMyLoveSlave · 02/11/2010 10:10

DS was 10lb 5oz and went straight into 0-3 month size. DD was 8lb 15oz and wore newborn for about 2-3 weeks (but "newborn" covers different size ranges at different shops, just to confuse further -- you tend to need to check the small print. I made sure I got the bigger end of newborn).

You could go straight into 0-3 but they might be swimming a bit.

Deliaskis · 02/11/2010 10:34

Was just about to come on an post to signpost people to all the helpful replies on my 'clothes for a newborn' thread, as an FYI for other clueless first time Mums, but I see you've already found it!

geekygiraffe spooks is fab isn't it? Word of warning, if you're buying the box sets, don't let yourself get too attached to any character, hardly any of them last very long!
