sarrita · 12/10/2010 19:13

Nice to see you back mamasunshine. Smile

mummychicken I haven't put on any weight. I lost about 14lbs in the first trimester, so although I have put it back on, I am the same weight, actually a bit less than when I started. I am giving up my non-pregnancy jeans after today though. I can't sit with them done up!

Does anyone have that nasty first trimester metal taste in their mouth? I have had it a couple of days now; hope it's going to go away.

Feeling not so big, but my back is killing me, and can feel my pubic bone opening at the front - ouch. Been swimming, but haven't got it together for pregnancy yoga. Not sleeping that well, but that really is par for the course at this stage.

For any 2nd time plus Mums, do you feel more like your baby is going to fall out this time? Even with my pelvic exercises I feel like the baby will fall out before I have a chance to go into labour! Shock

Has anyone got their health in pregnancy grant yet?

I have a MW appointment tomorrow (27 weeks) hoping to get the form signed. Would be nice to get the cash.

Got a couple of girls names, but no boys. Which means we'll have a boy!

littlehuman · 12/10/2010 20:07

28+3
hi lucky yous
i put on about 15 pounds so far according to the wii fit. ooppss!
i cant stop eating massive quantity of things, dh can t believe how much i eat and nor can i(the whole day and sometime night too...).
i can eat 5 muffins a day or a pot of nutella, 3 donuts etc..., good job my work involves exercising...

sarrita
i have send my paperwork for the grant but got nothing yet.
i am not a second time mum but i feel like the baby is gonna fall out too sometimes!lol
it feels like a hard ball ready to come out.almost like a balloon full of water.

i found out today that according to my last blood test that i need to start taking iron tablets, i suppose it must not be that bad cos i didnt feel like i was anemic.

scarysnuffle · 12/10/2010 22:37

27 weeks

Erk...unless my scales have gone wrong I have already put on 2 1/2 stone. So provided I don't put on any more through the next 13 weeks I'll stay within the recommendation for the whole pregnancy Hmm not at all sure that's likely to happen.
For some reason pizza is a lot easier to keep down than vegetables and there is plenty of time to worry about it later!

I sent my paperwork for the HIP last week but haven't got anything back yet and that has reminded me my MATB1 is still tucked in my work diary instead of on it's way to HR.

I don't think I'm organised enough to have 2 children Smile

Any news on your cat's test results yet?

littlehuman · 13/10/2010 11:20

scarysnuffle
nope still waiting for the results....

you might keep pizza down better, but everything i eat stay well down Grin!

Jobi1 · 13/10/2010 15:15

28+4 and gained 16 lbs, which I'm happy with, feels right on target. last time I put on a lot more, so tried to be a bit careful. But no one should obsess about it too much.

Apart from that I'm feeling lousy, been constantly ill for the last 6 weeks or so, not getting enough sleep and feel really low and fed up at the moment Sad Hoping I'll feel better soon and snap out of it.

2nd time for me and do feel a lot of pelvic pressure and pain already, not great. Applied for but not received HiP grant yet and don't feel at all ready to cope with two children, am barely coping with one right now. 11 weeks today is planned arrival day, scary. Just got to get through 6 more weeks in work...

WalkTheDog · 13/10/2010 19:13

welcome amoney

I've put on 14lbs, although at the start I looked like I(and pretty sure I had) lost weight round hips/bum, but had put on 7lbs by end of 1st trimester. I now look and feel like I have a huge bowling ball stuck up my jumper!

Now quite limited in how much and what I can eat due to heartburn, especially in the evening. We went food shopping today and treated myself to some vanilla ice cream which feels lovely as it goes down :)

Got quite a few forms to fill in and get MW to sign when she does a home visit next week. Hopfully I will get some money since it looks like I am not entitiled to any SMP or maternity allowance.

Hi All

I've put on 13.5lbs but sure I will hit the 1 stone mark soon.

I got my Heatlh in Pregnancy grant last week. It only took about 10 days to come through, so if you haven't already - get those forms in Grin.

Off for more blood tests...

littlehuman · 14/10/2010 17:47

hi all
for the ones that have followed "my cat and i's story", the results came through yesterday and he s got a brain tumor.dh and i are absolutly devastated(walkthedog, i had a thought for u for when u lost your dog).
he s not bad just now but i am really scared for the future on how is condition gonna deteriorate and having to be strong for my littlegirl too.
from now i just gonna take it a day at the time...

berrycravings · 14/10/2010 18:39

Hi

littlehuman so sorry to hear about your cat, must be a really hard time for you. Can't be easy worrying for him.

I've put on nearly 2 stone,no idea how! Seems to mainly be on my bump, but thighs and bum have also got bigger :(

I also got my Health In Pregnancy grant through very quickly in about 10 days also.

walkthedog I agree ice-cream is a good helper for the heartburn and a well deserved treat. I have been having milk recently which helps.

Jobi1 hope you feel better soon. Is really hard when you feel run down.

I went and had my hair cut today, gone from long hair to a bob. Feel really great to have done something for me :) I can strongly recommend a hair cut for anyone feeling frumpy. Has really helped me as was starting to feel like I was just getting bigger and bigger!

Not long to go now...Can't believe 12/13 weeks and will be there.

WalkTheDog · 14/10/2010 20:51

oh littlehuman so sad to hear your cat's results. We were hoping to scatter our dogs ashes up a hill near where we used to live during these holidays, but OH back is still not up to the long drive. Looks like it'll be a trip with baby next year, which actually will be nice to have baby there too.

OH has to go for a bladder scan next week, letter came today and he had a fit when it says " drink 2 pints the hour before you go and you must have a full bladder". It's to the same place as I had my first scan, so he'll really know how I felt then!

berrycravings the ice cream is working a treat for the heartburn. Glad haircut perked you up.

Hoping to use muslins as baby's first nappy (have heard it is depended on how much baby leaks Shock if they work or not, before moving onto cloth nappies. So today I was practicsing the jo fold, not too bad, but think might need to have a few ready done for the night time changes.

scarysnufflemonster · 14/10/2010 20:51

Oh littlehuman I'm so sorry Sad, no idea what to say but I hope he stays well for as long as possible.

My HIP paperwork came through today so, although I haven't checked my bank balance yet, it looks like that all worked.

DancingCat · 15/10/2010 17:36

am so sorry about your cat littlehuman Sad love from my two kitties to yours

mummychicken · 15/10/2010 18:47

Sad littlehuman

27w +6 days

Had my 28 week mid-wives appointment today so got the HiP paperwork. I got a bit of a telling off as there was glucose in my wee and they asked if I'd been eating loads of sweet things. Normally I am very careful but......., it was my birthday and those chocolate and cakes don't eat themselves!! They wrote on my notes what I'd been eating and that diet had been discussed Blush!

Hopefully it is nothing more sinister but at the next appointment I will be VERY careful what I eat before I wee in the pot!!

Spookberries · 15/10/2010 20:39

We are due 22 January but suspect baby will make an appearance sooner due to possible pre-eclampsia, reduced amniotic fluid, and a 1-artery umbilical cord! Cheeky monkey!!

I'm 23, DP is 25, our first baby and he's a BOY Grin

26 weeks tomorrow!

kiwijesta · 16/10/2010 08:31

Happy weekend everyone!
Welcome spookberries!
littlehuman I'm so sorry to hear about the cat, I really want one but DH sensibly says that it's not a good idea because what would we do with it when we move back to NZ? (could be any time from August next year) I think I'm going to try and befriend next doors!

Puffy feet, and a very stiff body from sleeping have returned, seems to come at the end of the week when I am the most tired, so another quiet weekend is in order.

PS haven't weighed myself, not going crazy but it is nice for the first time in 10 years not worrying about what I'm eating. Will deal with that in Feb!

littlehuman · 16/10/2010 11:01

29 weeks + 1

thank you for everyone messages, i needed to find a place to "empty my bag" and mumsnet felt easier than people i know that tells me"its a just a cat"!i ve been living with him since i as long as with dh and he is part of our home.

except that, pg( finger crossed) still going good, on iron tablets since this week.
when she kicks i can feel the limbs(not sure tho if its the arms or the legs or her bum maybe..)a lot better.
midwife coming today to have a look at the house for homebirth.so that s quite exiting.

sarrita · 16/10/2010 11:08

I had my 28 week appointment too. No HIP from, but stand in MW said she would send me one in the post... I had ketones in my urine. Probably because I had a big swim and then DS ate half my bacon roll.

Finding my lunch is ruined by DS's preschool slot 12.30 to 15.00. So he needs to eat at at around 11.30, and then I forget to have lunch.

Sorry about the cat littlehuman.

Welcome spookberries. Sorry about the complications, but thank goodness for medical science.

DH had his last day at work yesterday. Hope the next few weeks are OK as he comes to terms with it all. Probably shouldn't tease him too much about the house work. DS at my sister's having a sleep over so slept for 9 hrs - yee ha.

scarysnufflebeast · 16/10/2010 21:20

mummychicken and sarrita sympathies on the wee tests, there always seems to be something to feel bad about one way or another. I think I've not been tested half as many times as I was with DS so I'm probably due to have something wrong on Monday (28 wk appointment).

spookberries hello and welcome, that's an incredible list but you still sound very cheerful!

kiwijesta enjoy the quiet weekend

littlehuman feel free to offload here and sorry people in RL are being insensitive.
Very exciting about the homebirth though - makes it all seem very real and quite imminent that they're visiting already. Not that long to go now!

FunkyMonkey1983 · 18/10/2010 11:24

littlehuman sorry to hear about your cat

30 weeks today and I feel like I've been hit by a bus! Is anyone else having trouble with achy joints? My hips are sore so sleeping is uncomfortable and my hands are also sore making typing quite difficult but I can't avoid the computer as I have loads of work to do! Any suggestions on how to relieve some of the stiffness?

Spookberries · 18/10/2010 13:18

Seem to be creeping along here 26+2 and want to meet him already!!

We are suffering from leg cramps in the night, anyone have good tips of how to help? Funky we asked the midwife about the hips thing, she says it's that now in 3rd trimester they start to widen in anticipation of the birth (how exciting! Grin), perhaps soaking in a warm bath (not too hot obv), maybe using hot water bottle on hips in the night? Sorry not much use!

Jobi1 · 18/10/2010 13:43

Hi everybody Smile

littlehuman so sorry about your cat Sad

spookberries sounds like you have a lot to contend with, hope you're ok.

Hi to everyone else and hugs to all those who need them. I'm so glad I seem to be mainly germ free for the first time in a while and actually feel ok, aside from usual aches and pains! I am finding it harder and harder to sleep and get comfy at night and don't think there are any real solutions, although I do find extra pillows is still helping. I tried without and a pillow between knees and was in agony all night, so the extra pillows came back out again. Pelvis is sore but I can live with it at the moment, back aches etc but its all part of the fun I think!!

I'm 29+2 and 10 weeks 2 days til we meet little one, all being well. Not anaemic according to blood test, although feel like I could do with a tonic!! Oh well, not long to go!

FeelingHip · 18/10/2010 14:13

i have a dreadful cold and I'm feeling very sorry for myself today... :(

berrycravings · 18/10/2010 18:19

Hi all,

28+6 today

Sorry to hear your not feeling well feelingHip hopefully you'll feel better soon.

I had my first day back at work today and OMG it really took it out of me. Luckily at my 'return to work meeting' my boss suggested I stagger my return to work hours and got to finish at 3pm today instead of 5.15. It was just what I needed as I fell straight asleep when i got home.

Had my 28 week MW apt today, I found it really helpful. Mentioned how tired I was feeling being back at work and she pointed out that society can be tough on pregnancy nowadays. Not that long ago you had to take mat leave from 28 weeks and now we all try and push through till our due dates. She advised me that it was alot better to get the rest I need than 'stick it out' and that it did not make me weak. I found the chat really helpful and discussed with my manager who has encouraged me to borrow two weeks holiday from next year so I am now planning to finish on the 3rd Dec (as opposed to the 17th) and just feel like a huge weight has been taken off my shoulders.

Has everyone else sorted when they are finishing?

Jobi1 · 18/10/2010 19:44

I finish on the 26th November and baby is coming on the 29th December, so will have 4 weeks off. It doesn't feel like enough, or soon enough, but am thinking of the time and money after baby here. I'm totally done in though, got friday off thank goodness cos I'm just knackered the whole time. I remember with DS having lie ins and relaxing evenings, not second time around!! Its all rush rush rush and early starts!
