littlehuman so sorry about your car, I really understand that cats are family members too.

sorry have been absent for so long, have been reading the posts just unable to add a message.

Sleeping sitting up at 45deg on a giant wedge, can't believe it's still another 12 weeks, seems like ages.

Have put on 9 kilos. Midwife said that was a bit much, which really made me feel bad. I am eating sensibly and doing exercise. Have discovered twinings peppermint and nettle tea bags seem to help the fluid retention.

9 more weeks of work, finish on 17 december but don't see how I'll have the energy to keep going that long! Hope everyone is enjoying the autumn leaves, very pretty where I live.

hi everyone
again thanks all your nice messages!we gonna take it a day at the time and spoile our cat with cuddles and chicken!;)

i am hoping to work as late as possible( iam teaching classes as self employed), as financially the later i get my MA the better.as i got the feeling its gonna be hard to find appropriate childcare fitting my hours(plus DH who is a chef) etc...

mw came to visit us for the homebirth. it make the birth feels less "medical" planning things at/from home.
i gonna sound crazy but we got a big sort of plastic "floor" that goes at the front of our camping tent , i thought it might be a good alternative to a plastic sheet to cover the bed?? Grin waterproof, pretty comfy and easy cleanedHmm???

WalkTheDog · 18/10/2010 20:46

Hi
Quick check in, online to print off forms I need MW to sign tomorrow. Have had a cold and been feeling really lousy, on the mend now though.

Sorry for all those who are working, suppose that is one advantage I have of not having a job (and getting no maternity pay :() is that at least I don't have to try and decide when to finish work.

Oh just noticed the halloween smilies
[hsmile] [hgrin] etc

Spookberries · 18/10/2010 21:06

We are also finising on 3rd December here, will only be 32 weeks but with the very likely possibility he will come early, will probably only be 4-ish weeks before he arrives.

Also if they find a replacement before 3rd December they have told DP they will lay her off on full pay before then and won't eat into mat leave which would be fantastic [hsmile]

kiwijesta · 18/10/2010 22:09

Hey again,
It seems that we are all begining to 'fall apart', told my mum a very similar story last night, and she laughed and said get used to it, spose she's right! Still doesn't help at 3am when I sore hips, hehe

I'm finishing on the 17th of Dec,which gives me one month till the baby is due. At times I think I'd like more time off, but being a teacher finishing at the end of term is a good idea, and I'm quite attached to the class too, so want to leave it as long as possible.

Speaking of school, only one week til half term and I am soooo ready for it, 7 weeks is a long time esp for the kids, never mind their teacher. Is anyone else looking forward to, or dreading half term?

Midwife today all went well, wee fine, blood pressure good, bump measurements normal, blood taken so I'll have to wait for the results but hoping there'll be nothing to worry about.

I'm due to finish around the 9th Dec but currently find work easier than running round after DS (sit down office job).

Hannah1890 · 19/10/2010 12:17

28+3
Not been on for ages so just had a major catch up, hope everyones well, does seem as though were all falling apart I agree kiwijester
I seem to just be suffering similar aches and pains to everyone else which I guess is good if normal and very grateful for everyones advice.

Ive put on 4kgs which didnt sound like very much to me but it sounds like there is a pretty wide spread so sure nothing to worry about, especially as bump is definately growing and baby is getting much stronger!! now able to wake me up in the night with a kick just below the ribs.

I'm planning on finishing work first week in december as am waitressing at the moment, so think I will definately be struggling by then, as after 6 hours constantly on my feet am already knackered!! Will give me 5 weeks to prepare for baby thogh so that will be good.

I am very much looking forward to half termkiwijesta I am going home to Cyprus to get married!! yey all very exciting although finding maternity wedding dresses is proving difficult, think online is my best option.

All very exciting, Hope everyones still enjoying their pregnancies and all is going well.

littlehuman · 19/10/2010 12:51

hannah1890 congratulation for your wedding!
have fun!!![hgrin] (had to use one of the halloween smiley!)

cotswolder · 19/10/2010 13:09

Hello all

Mind if I join? am due 12th Jan and trying to get myself organised. We've had an extension built at back of house and been precoccpied with that so just starting to think about pregancy!
Still feels like its happening to someone else though!

Spookberries · 19/10/2010 14:20

welcome cots! We have been thinking about pregnancy since about 2 years ago [hgrin] so very anxious to meet our little guy.

Do you know what you're having?

Also can I ask everyone else - have you thought of names yet and have you revealed to family? We did have 1 that we were set on but it's gotten so popular recently we changed our minds, family are really putting the pressure on but I don't know whether to tell them or not?! [hconfused]

cotswolder · 19/10/2010 15:07

no we don't know. Hubby reckons there are few enough nice surprises in life and this should be one of them! Do remember going for the 20 week scan where it was the first thing I blurted out to the sonographer - before I even said hello..... felt pretty silly!

Been a fair trip here as two mcs at 12 weeks over last 12 months or so so still in denial - have dreamed of children (I'm not a spring chicken at 36) and won't beleive it is real until something arrives.... to much in denial for my own good really!

Names: have decided boys but not girls - started from a late night discussion some weeks ago as sort of a joke. No-one has even asked and not really sure whether I'm glad or whether to be put out that neither set of parents have asked..... was bit worried however that hubby says he wants Reginald as middle name for boy

Jobi1 · 19/10/2010 15:31

Hi everybody [hgrin] loving the halloween smiles!!

We chose names a while ago and I'm surprised how many people have asked me what we've chosen! I just skirt the subject and don't answer properly, I think its a weird thing to ask! Wait and see!!

Had coffee with a friend today and she said my bump was small and neat, haha probably being diplomatic but nice to hear nevertheless. I think I am smaller than last time but need to do some pics to compare. Have definitely been a lot more careful weight wise.

Got myself all worried about late pregnancy scares so been kick counting last couple of days, been fine though thank goodness!

So all good here really, just aches and pains. 10 weeks tomorrow!! I'm getting scared about going into labour now, just want a nice calm planned c section, not a big drama, we'll see I guess.

And I sympathise cotswolder and spookberries, we had unexplained secondary infertility and then a miscarriage and I'm almost 36. Took a while to feel positive this time around but not too long to wait now. [hsmile]

Pacita · 19/10/2010 15:55

Hello ladies,

I have not posted for ages, but am a committed lurker. It is so reassuring to read all your stories, as sometimes I just feel like a lightweight for feeling so uncomfortable and knackered!

I'm 27 weeks, due on the 18th of Jan. And yes, this pregnancy has been A LOT harder than my first, as my days are either spent at work, or running after my 2 year old DS (who incidentaly, has just discovered the power of the tantrum).

Is any of you having the heartburn from hell? I seriously hope that Gaviscon contains some nutricious ingredients, as it has become the basis of my diet.

Also, although I don't seem to have put much weight on, my bump is out of control, and crosses the road about 10 yards before me. Have any of you second time mums found that your second time bump is this enormous zeppelin, or is it just me?

Finally, congratulations to Hannah1890. I've always wanted to get married while heavily pregnant. How very Fellini! I hope you find a fabulous dress.

Crystylline · 19/10/2010 16:13

I too have been lurking!

Having a horrible time trying to move house and work is awful.

I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and baby is sitting right under my ribs the whole time - except when the evening gymnastics routines start! Grin

Found I'm drinking gallons of fruit juice... should I be worried about gestational diabetes? - hmmn, have an appointment in two weeks to check this.

and how often do you see your midwives now? I'm not sure when and what frequency I should meet her.

and yes, I've been discussing names with my family... lots of traditions etc that I can't avoid.

littlehuman · 19/10/2010 16:28

hi
after the experience we had for our wedding, i am not even discussing names to anybody in our families.cos you always got people(ie my family) having their own opinion on everything rrgggg....
so we just decided that once we agree on one name , we ll just reveal it after the birth.

Pacita · 19/10/2010 17:32

Oh, I made the mistake of revealing the one I like (which is not agreed with DP yet. Now I have to deal with the consequences of everyone's opinion, so I suppose the wise option is to keep quiet!

splodge77 · 19/10/2010 18:30

28 weeks today! crikey the weeks seem to be zooming by now.

we have a boy name lined up but no good girl names that we can agree on. we're keeping names secret from friends/family, someone told me that even if people promise not to react to the name you say they can't help 'doing a face' if they don't like it!!

Saw midwife today who wasn't much help on the subject of my super-sore ribs - told me to see the GP about it...GP'll prob just tell me to talk to midwife about it and so on...oh well.

i feel your pain on the moving front Crystylline. we are moving in 2 weeks time and i work from home so am surrounded by boxes and chaos all day! can't wait to be in our new place and all sorted.

lovechristmas · 19/10/2010 20:42

Hello everyone, sorry haven't been on thread in a while; pacita love that you refer to yourself as a committed lurker as that probably best describes me! I also am running around after myself at work or after a 2 year old DD who is keeping me on my toes!
Have had a really rough ride - losing weight as trying to gain control of gestational diabetes (same as 1st preg) oh how I miss sweet things! Having to be in clinics at least once a week and had two heavy bleeds that ended up in some short stays in maternity triage!
Plus my bits still feel like I have taken a good kicking [hblush]!
Good job the end result is so worth it!

Halloween costume ideas would be very helpful as cannot get my head past my pumpkin shaped belly!

Hope everyone is well xxxxxxx

superparty · 20/10/2010 13:57

Hi all

Sorry its been a while, what with working full time 5 other children and being 26+5 days today i am knackered.

have got heart burn from hell also, rang gp for prescription, cant have one unless i see doctor, WTF i can buy it if i want but its the principle now Angry am waiting for gp to ring me for a telephone consultation.

Baby erin now 9 months old had check yesterday, all good,(shes bright for her age) errrr ok shes a baby, babbling crawling and now standing, she thinks shes older than she is i think, She is tres cute though, will post some recent pics soon.

hope everyone is doing ok

Sad for littles cat

welcome to all the newbies

WalkTheDog · 20/10/2010 20:43

ooh too much to catch up on for me tonight - brain in slow down, will read tomorrow.

Blood tests from yesterday, have had a postive diabetes one, so have to go for another test on Friday to see if it was a false positive or if I do have gestational diabetes. Have to fast (no water even!), get blood taken, drink Lucozade (yuk!), hang about for 2 hours and then get blood taken. Did the silly thing of reading about gestational diabetes, should have left it until got test results! Did laugh at one bit, as it says that if you do have it, often need CSection at 38weeks - that's Christmas Day for me!!!!

mummychicken · 20/10/2010 21:05

Walkthdog and super I had glucose in my wee at the last appointment. Should I be relieved that they have just told me to be more careful what I eat 24hrs before next wee test? They said they would have to refer me if I have another positive glucose test. I have also googled gest diabetes and don't fall into any of the at risk catagories, have they taken it further with either of you because of any reason?

OP posts:
lovechristmas · 20/10/2010 22:41

Oooh, forgot to say I was Mammak on thread... fancied a name change xxx

Jobi1 · 20/10/2010 22:53

I haven't had my wee tested since my booking appt. I forgot my sample last time & she just said never mind. Not got another appt for 8 weeks, should I be concerned? Can I test myself at all?

superparty · 21/10/2010 12:38

Hi mummy & walkthedog

I spoke with mw last night and she said she would have to go to hospital to get my results and will ring me this morning, I AM STILL WAITING.

Did test my own wee yesterday and it went straight black for glucose, but mw colleague said it could be glycosuria, which is when my body can't process the sugar quick enough so it excretes it in your wee, not affecting baby at all??????

I have got a big bump though so i'm not holding my breath. Had same issues with Erin this time last year but it all came to nothing and she was 8lb 13oz...ouch! don't want his little one to be any bigger thankyou.

jobi1 it is important as in the later weeks it can show up protein which could indicate pre eclampsia. I would ring gps and ask where mw are ie: which clinic and ring mw there and ask can you take a sample just for testing as you forgot last time. Can't believe she said it didn't matter, on the odd time i've forgot they asked me to do one there.

WalkTheDog · 21/10/2010 16:51

oh Hannah how exciting re wedding plans Shock

welcome cotswolder

lovechristmas costume for you or DD? One of my friends went as a bag of jelly beans (clear bag filled with balloons) - it was very funny but I ended up looking after her wee ones as she could hardly move!

mummychicken they tested my blood for diabetes rather than urine, not sure if that makes much difference. Would assume that MWs would take it seriously if needed as if you do have gestational diabetes it is important it is well controlled.

any news superparty?

jobi I've had urine tested at each visit. We don't take samples, provide it there. Odd that she didn't suggest that to you. It takes seconds to test so sure you could pop in past MWs or GPs and they could give you a strip to pee on there and then.
