Added myself to the list as havent been on the new thread yet, all busy as just started back at work.

Careylou I had the same problem with thinking of boys names for our LO. We sort of had girls names sorted and then found out he's a boy, I really liked Noah and Oscar but my bf completely vetoed both.

I just wondered if anyone else has been suffering from cramp, have woken up with it multiple times in the night for the last few nights always in my claves. Really not nice, wondered if anyone had any ideas to stop it. My mum suggested tonic water, but so far hasn't helped. Luckily I had the day off today after waking up 6 times in the night with it, but my bf wasnt so lucky and although he hasnt said it is no doubt seriously unimpressed...

littlehuman · 14/09/2010 13:51

hi hannah
Was gonna suggest tonic water too but u obviously tried it...
i ve always drank loadsss of tonic water cos i like the taste, never got a cramp yet dunno if that s related.
cant wait to be able to put a bit of gin in it again! :)

Jobi1 · 14/09/2010 20:46

Glad I'm not the only one who's scared, be it first or second or however many!! I guess it will be ok!! 3 months to go, yikes!

Welcome wondersnuffle Smile

Got loads going on this week, including DH's birthday on Thursday so thankfully I'm feeling a bit better!

Hope everyone has a good week x

Hannah1890 · 14/09/2010 22:29

oh thankyou littlehuman been out and bought another bottle so going to continue with the tonic water hoping it will help eventually. Also managed to talk the bf into giving me a massage before bed, no idea if it will help but will still be nice! lol

I'm getting very scared of birth and having a little baby to look after now, Watched the programme - Cherry had a baby on BBC3 tonight, thought might help, didn't help the nerves but definately made me realise how excited I am!!

careylouwho · 14/09/2010 22:52

Hannah Noah was one of the first names that my DH vetoed, in fact I think he vetoed it before I was even pregnant.

Isn't eating bananas supposed to help with cramp? Also one of my pregnancy books suggests stretching calves before bed -here's a link: calf stretch link

I had a bit of foot cramp a few weeks ago but restarted taking my prenatal vitamins not had it since. Killer heartburn though.

travispickles · 15/09/2010 17:42

Me too with the heartburn Careylouwho!! Also concerned about the movements, as I have anterior placenta but the other day she was moving low down, and today - nothing!! Sure it's fine....

WalkTheDog · 15/09/2010 20:08

Hannah make sure you are drinking plenty through the day, sometimes cramps can be because you are dehydrated.

Having major problems with insomina so making me grumpy. Partly because I am uncomfy in bed, seem to need to move at least every 2hours. Last night was the worst though, slept 1030-1130 (was sleepy and relaxed when went to bed), then awake until 4am - no matter what I did! And woke up again at 6am.

I'm also been quite sore during the day. OH and I are a right pair getting off the sofa/out of bed - him with his back pain, me with my groin and pelvis pain.

Oh the joys of pregnancy!!!!!

sarrita · 15/09/2010 20:58

Hannah I also get Leg cramps*. Try wearing warm socks over your calves. Not great in the summer but fine now the weather is getting worse.
I seem to be staving them off by being aware when I move my legs at night, and when I feel like it's going to happen I pump my toes and that seems to stop it. I had them so bad a few weeks ago that I was limping for days.

For Hannah and any other scared new Mums can really recommend Baby Bliss by Harvey Karp you can get it on Amazon. It is a brilliant how-to-look-after-a-newborn book. I found it a real help and managed to get my DS to settle much better after reading. DH loved it too and I must have bought about 20 plus copies now and given them to friends.

Splodge got great maternity jeans from the Gap.

Jobi1* bad luck with the potty training. I am sure it will come at the right time. Good luck.

Baby is kicking loads and I can see it moving around in my belly.

But the best part of this week is that I am in France now till the 27th, and it is warm and sunny and DS is getting a tan (he goes brown) and I am getting freckles and some vitamin D and all's good in the world.

DS starts preschool two days after we get back which is also very exciting.

littlehuman · 15/09/2010 21:00

since everyone is having a wee moaning time ,
here i go too:
i cant sleep well at night since i am pregnant , not due to tummy though(since still quite small)but every little noise wakes me up then its a nightmare to fall bk asleep
and also when i teach my aquafit classes littlegirl always decides to push on my bladder and i am not allowed to leave the ladies without supervision in the water so i have to wait and feel like i am gonna burst...
i know there are a couple of school teachers on this thread, how do you guys survive?? i ll be out the classroom every 30 min lol

travispickles · 15/09/2010 22:08

Am a teacher and it's bloody hard work! We are also not allowed to leave the kids, and if the full bladder isn't bad enough, my stress levels went through the roof with a couple of naughty boys today... Tried not to imagine my poor little girl floating around in a sea of stress hormones. Angry

FunkyMonkey1983 · 16/09/2010 10:12

I finally got round to watching 'Cherry has a Baby' which I had Sky+'d. I started crying after the waterbirth, a mixture of fear and excitement at the prospect of giving birth!

But oddly enough I do feel more mentally prepared for the labour now (although still scared stiff) so I'm off to order some hypnobirthing stuff!

littlehuman · 17/09/2010 13:32

25 weeks today
15 to go !
littlegirl moving a lot more at night now!(not a good routine to start!)
i looked at some 25 weeks bump on google, mine looks practically inexistant compare to them(see pic on my profile)is that normal?..Hmm

sarrita · 17/09/2010 13:54

Make sure your hubby/partner notifies his boss by 25 weeks (15 weeks before you are due) that he wants to take paternity leave or potentially miss out. www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/sc3.pdf

Get your GP or midwife to fill in your 'health in pregnancy' form (again at 25 weeks) and get your grant worth £119 (or therabouts). If you don't get one get in touch with HM Revenue & Customs to get a form.

crumblequeen · 17/09/2010 19:37

21 weeks

Hi everyone! Finally had my scan today - its a boy (have DS 2.5 already)!! I am so delighted - didn't mind either way but keep smiling to myself now! We are telling everyone in real life that we didn't find out the sex as want to keep a surprise for family so I am so pleased I can tell you here!!

littlehuman · 17/09/2010 19:41

hahaha crumblequeenits a honor to be the 1st to know! :)

wondersnuffle · 17/09/2010 19:47

23 weeks

littlehuman I can't see your profile you may need to change your settings to public profile? If you teach aquafit you probably have impressive stomach muscles and (I think) this can make your bump much smaller. Probably also means you'll bounce straight back after the birth Envy

I'm going to the loo all the all the time and waking up in the night a lot so can sympathize with everyone else who's missing their sleep. With DS I actually found I was being woken up less and sleeping better when I had a newborn than during most of the pregnancy, hoping it's the same this time.

berrycravings · 18/09/2010 07:44

25 weeks
Anyone else amazed how quickly time seems to be passing now? I remember those first few months time stood still. In 3 months we may have some little ones arriving! I'm starting to panic about how soon it is...how is everyone's shopping going? We're going ok still, after pay day its off to buy the car seat which seems like a minefield, partly becuase its not one of the most exciting things to buy. Hoping to get a sling as well.

RE Sleep: still not slept through the night yet, had some back probs again on wed night and every time I was comfortable enough to fall asleep I had to get up for the loo or baby boy started a round of kicking! Oh the joys of pregnancy...

crumblequeen thanks for sharing with us and well done on being able to keep it a secret, i was telling everyone I met we're having a boy (still am Blush )

Sarrita thanks for the information update, I must remember to get my health in pregnancy form. Have a great holiday

littlehuman I think bump sizes just vary so much, as long as midwives aren't worried thats the main thing Smile

Hope everyone has a nice weekend, I plan to catch up on sleep (although should really say housework!)

littlehuman · 18/09/2010 13:27

hi wondersnuffle
i think to see my profile you just got to click on my name and thats it...thats what i ve done to see others people photos.
and for the impressive stomach muscles Hmm
lol if they were any before pg they are long gone Grin

i try not to go to crazy with shopping (though i am bursting for it!)as a lot of people keep giving us stuff.
we r just buying more storage stuff , like chest of drawers, hangers, boxes...which are very needed.

wondersnuffle · 18/09/2010 22:34

littlehuman some names are clickable but I can't do yours, not sure if I'm just being daft Confused, if I am it's certainly not the first time!

DS did a flying somersault down some steps at a friend's birthday party today, landed on the edge of the step with his nose. He seems absolutely fine but it's the worst accident he's had so far in his life (he's only 2 at the mo so there will almost certainly be far worse to come). I could have really done with several large glasses of wine this evening but making do with a bit of moaning on MN...

WalkTheDog · 19/09/2010 13:00

Afternoon all :)

24+2 today. OH has already checked up at work re paternity. He has to tell them a date when he is going to take his paternity leave, and take it within 8 weeks of that. So we reckon giving them a date of 5 weeks before EDD. He gets wk off full pay, then can have 1 wk statutory pay (not much I don't think), then another with no pay. Really only planning on him taking the full pay week off, since I won't get SMP (I am annoyingly just a couple weeks short of enough work in the last 60ish weeks - can't remember the exact figures)

crumblequeen congrats on the boy secret :) Nice to be able to share. I am amazed at the number of people who have asked if we know the sex.

wondersnuffle hope DS has no ill effects of his tumble.

We had OH's friend and his two LOs yesterday afternoon. He was trying to give us parenting advice. Not saying we will be perfect. but there are so many things that he and his wife do that we have very different opinions on, that I think we will learn by our own mistakes!
