Star congratulations what great news! Hope all going well.

mummychicken sorry to hear about the GD. Hope you cope OK with it in the last few weeks!

Feeling pretty achey here, too much playing with DS on the floor this week due to our snowbound status. We are normally getting out and about a lot so at least get to stretch legs!

LadyBuzz · 04/12/2010 22:07

travis do you mind me asking what the issue with your back is?
Only babybuzz is breech and I have been having incredibly painful spasms in my back which I din't have with the boys neither of which were breech.

mummychicken sorry to hear you are in pain with the tests hopefully it won't be for long for you!

We also went shopping today and it wiped me out - almost done though so I will proabably only need 1 more shopping trip!

travispickles · 04/12/2010 22:47

Ladybuzz, it feels a bit weird - quite high up between my shoulder blades. It feels like something pushing it or something. Weird. How far along are you?

LadyBuzz · 05/12/2010 08:18

travis i'm 32 + 5.

The pain in mine is like a shooting spasm like pain sometimes in the lower back and sometimes between my shoulders and up my neck.
Could be that your LO is breech, when is your next MW?

travispickles · 05/12/2010 08:53

Today - she is paying me a home visit! (Cue lots of manic tidying!!) But she hasn't been able to tell really, something about my shape and also the fact that she is definitely quite far back due to anterior placenta means no one has given me a definitive anwer yet.

LadyBuzz · 05/12/2010 10:56

oh bugger, hopefully she will refer you for a scan to be sure, i think they tend to do that at around 34 weeks anyway, she said if babybuzz was still breech at my next app which is 34 weeks she would refer me then.
Hope you get some answers!

WalkTheDog · 05/12/2010 11:07

travis my LO was breech, then oblique and now head down (we hope to stay) and my pelvis pain got so much better when baby moved to head down. I too have an anterior placenta, but I did read that it usually moves slightly, think around 34 weeks and that helps with position. I'm getting another scan just to check position and size, should have been next week but they can't fit me in. Am 35+2, and baby moved at 34.

travispickles · 05/12/2010 17:03

She has been and gone - she seems to think she is head down but she says that as I have a consultant appt 23rd dec I may get scan to be sure. Otherwise all seemed OK. She did go into the reasons for kick counting - stillbirths etc - and I could see OHs face in the background Shock

littlehuman · 05/12/2010 18:48

36 weeks + 2

congratulation star how exciting the first baby of the thread is out.
i hope he ll be home soon.
2 hours in labor whooaa, like Hannah said that ll keep us hoping lol.

the snow here has been a total pain since i am still working and had to spend ages on buses!hopefully it wont snow again for a while. In laws were supposed to fly to see us this week end to do some baby shopping(which i was quite excited about )but they ll know come in 2 weeks time as their flight were cancelled. i hope i wont have dropped by then lol

Like most of you, feeling quite big, struggle to put shoes/socks on and off, pick up things off the floor etc...and if i bend forward or lie down , my heartburns are terrible. except that mw said littlegirl was a very happy baby so i suppose that makes the mum happy too!

kiwijesta · 05/12/2010 18:49

Hi all,
star - congrats on your baby, what a great tale to tell in the future!
Not enough snow here in Berkshire to slow us down, and as all trains into Ldn round here I didn't even get a snow day!
ladybuzz and travis I've got a 34 week scan on Tues to a) check if placenta has moved and b) check if baby has moved too. Fingers crossed for anyone whose baby has yet to move head down right!
I've had the most awful cold this weekend, it was DH's black tie work party on Friday and I was already feeling sick and that must have been the final straw. Have spent the whole weekend in bed and had to cancel the baby shower my friends had organised, quite upsetting really. I suspect my white blood cell count will be 'up' at MW appt on Tues, hehe.
Let's hope this snow clears before too long, even if it makes for exciting birth stories!
Ps fingers crossed Anne Widdecombe finally leaves Strictly!

SunOverStars · 05/12/2010 20:35

Hi all - quick update from us...Elias is doing so well - he is now 3 days old! He is off antibiotics, off CPAP, off monitors, and off phototherapy!

He is having just under an ounce of milk every 2 hours, and he had half of a feed from a bottle today - what a good boy

He also opened his eyes for the first time today and as he's off all his wires we got to dress him in a sleepsuits - yay!!

Haven't spoken to doctor yet about when he gets to come home, but I've heard from other parents of premmies that it's usually when they're totally off the nasal-gastric tube and having every feed from a bottle.

deedee321 · 05/12/2010 21:20

Wow stars, am so so happy for you all, that is amazing, sounds like he is doing fantastically well!!! What a clever boy, that is great he is managing milk from bottle. Been thinking of you all, take care :)

beijingaling · 06/12/2010 02:47

great news stars

The weather is cold here. Saturday we're expecting -2 to -11 and it's only the start of winter No snow yet though!

I was told at 33 weeks that LO is head down so I guess we're good to go.

Anyone else missing getting a full nights sleep without waking up? DH goes away tomorrow and I'm hoping that I'll sleep better without him though who knows! There is a part in my head that thinks "only 4 more weeks and then I can sleep properly" but of course the sleep debt will only get WORSE then!

luckykitty · 06/12/2010 10:58

Hope everyone is ok and keeping warm, its freeeeezing here!!

sarrita · 06/12/2010 11:13

star that is brilliant news! Great to hear that little Elias is feeding well and hopefully you will be home in no time.

I cried when I brought DS home for the first time. We listened to Stevie Wonder, Talking Book in the car...

Am reading the HypnoBirthing book. Excellent for helping to feel positive for the birth.

www.amazon.co.uk/Hypnobirthing-Natural-Approach-Comfortable-Birthing/dp/0757302661/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1291633525&sr=8-1 .

luckykitty dungarees - love it. So 70s - 80s. My Granny, born in 1922, thinks pregnant women should only wear smocks, with the exception of dungarees.

deedee I just met someone who was 18 weeks. She already was showing massively, and she is the picture of petit loveliness. I think I don't show as much because I'm nearly 6ft.

cotswolder - yup the neighbour does usually only see me in a coat.

Good luck with the 'optimal fetal positioning' ladies. There is still time for the baby to re-position (for most of us). They can just do it like that. But I guess it's worth doing as much as possible to get it right asap. Try not to worry - they can move a lot.

It just took me 2hrs to do a 30min trip to get my DS from my sisters. There is soooooo much snow falling here today. I can't believe it; I thought it was over.

Hannah1890 · 06/12/2010 11:25

stars that is great news really glad to hear Elias is doing very well, you and your DP must be very proud.

Feeling for everyone still suffering from snow, we hardly had any here at all, although had a MW appt this morning and ice is making things difficult, cant believe the weather is so extreme! Apparently we're all meant to be in for another cold snap next week as well just in time for babies to start appearing.

BP back up today was 140/100 first time but after 6 attempts did dinally get down to 130/90 so borderline, Dr suggested I may be anxious which I wont deny, started dreading having it taken in fear or it getting any higher. Blood tests on Wednesday for liver function tests etc. hopefully will all be fine. On plus side baby 1/5 palpable head down so give it 2 more weeks and maybe he'll come a bit early...

Sorry for long post,

sarrita · 06/12/2010 11:57

Hannah get the hypnobirthing book! It has a CD that helps you relax - my sister said she would just fall asleep to it - and she had to work and commute 3+ hrs a day right up to a week before she gave birth.

Hannah1890 · 06/12/2010 12:45

Thanks sarrita might be worth a try, wow to your sister! I find getting out of bed at 8 in the morning for a MW appt difficult atm, feeling very lucky to have finished work.

LadyBuzz · 06/12/2010 13:35

stars that is fab news, he sounds like a proper little fighter!

I wish I had finished work, the cow that I work with verbally attacked me this morning and accused me not only of making her ill (she has a cold) but of ruining her christmas last year by giving her a cold then too Hmm
I have a slight cough today which kicked it all off, apparently I should not have gone in nor should I go in if one of the kids is ill incase I am carrying what they have - If that is the case I would NEVER be there.
She really upset me, I hate confrontation at the best of times!

We still have snow and it is very very cold but DS1 is back at school yay!

littlehuman · 06/12/2010 17:07

ladybuzz your colleague sounds like a proper b... , i wont swear but still.unbelivable!

deedee321 · 06/12/2010 17:18

35 weeks + 3
Just had scariest journey home from work, car slipping all over road, wheels spinning and brakes failed at roundabout!! Hate this snow.
Just had good midwife appt though, baby in good position and is just below average size. Am relieved as have put on no weight in last 6 weeks and was scared he would be too small. I'd put on plenty in early preg due to constant anti-nausea eating so suppose has just balanced out.
Does anyone else keep checking this thread obsessively to see if any more babies are popping??

deedee321 · 06/12/2010 17:19

Forgot to say ladybuzz, what a cow!! I hope you gave her a withering look!!

MacMomo · 06/12/2010 18:08

stars Grin for you, your partner and Elias!

ladybuzz your colleague is lucky - she'd get a very different response from other, less well-mannered people like me. As if she can tell who she got her colds from - does she never set foot in public?

First midwife's appointment in 10 weeks - and the baby turned over in the night and is breech (last Friday); booked in for scan next Monday. It's so uncomfortable! Have had back spasms (from sitting down) up the right side of my back (her head is under my right ribcage), etc, etc. Feeling sorry for myself! Also pleased to hear the midwife declare "she's huge! oh, well, you know - big but healthy..." yes, I heard you first time, woman.

Have started Natal Hypotherapy CD (the British one by Maggie Howell or similar) and seems good so far - have definitely been sleeping better since.

Anyone know where you can get / get delivered Raspberry Leaf tea?

LadyBuzz · 06/12/2010 18:58

macmomo i'm with you with the back spasms babybuzz is also breech and it is very painful!

You can get raspberry leaf tea from holland and barrett iirc

Yes she is a cow, I did ask her if she never saw anyone but me and she claims that she infact does not - no great surprise that she has no friends if she speaks to people like that.
Still there is currently a formal complaint in against her which she is not aware of Grin not from me but still Grin

Hannah1890 · 06/12/2010 19:03

ladybuzz sorry to hear about your cow of a work colleague, what a ridiculous thing to say, at this time of year you'd literally have to avoid any human interaction to be able to not get some sort of cold!! Dont let her upset you.

Yikes deedee glad managed to get home ok.

Macmomo sorry to hear baby is in awkward position, you have my sympathy and think its fair enough to feel a bit sorry for yourself, fingers crossed LO turns round again although dont know how comfortable that would be for you,
Made me giggle about what your MW said about baby being huge, I had exactly the same a couple of weeks ago only for her to to then back track and say "no no its good, I like big babies" :o made me laugh as glad to hear it for now, although may not be quite so keen in 5 weeks time.

My DH bought me some rasberry leaf tea from holland and barrett, not sure about delivery
