Well done zoezebra on the birth of Jasper - bet hes sooo cute - what does your daughter think of him???

I'm enjoying reading that the births so far were relatively quick without intervention.

Congratulations Zoezebra!
Just been to maternity hospital to get a wee tour and shown the water birth room. Looks lovely so hopefully, if all goes to plan, will be able to use it when it comes to the big day.
Good luck to everyone! Who'll be next???

Due date today! Builders finished yesterday (more or less - odd bit of snagging)!
Been to Waitrose, used their quickcheck, was asked to rescan b y the autopayment till, but was let off by the assistant who saw the amount of stuff in my trolley, fractious dd and massive bump.
Not in labour - hurrah!

Daisydot - I had a look at Daisy's web site - what a fantastic little girl! Take care xxx

Any new babies out there? or are they waiting for the new moon??? Just about to eat curry - swilled down by Rasberry leaf tea - yum!!! and of course a gaviscon chaser!

Daisydot · 03/09/2005 19:06

Congrats ZZ on the birth of your beautiful baby boy. We're right behind you!

LadyLazarus · 03/09/2005 19:14

aargh am most disheartened now after reading on the BBC website that "First babies tend to be later than 40 weeks"... nooooo!!!

mummyhill · 03/09/2005 19:19

Aww sorry LadyL my first was 7 days late. Going to have a curry for tea again with rasberry leaf capsule followed by fresh pinapple a bounce on the swiss ball maybe a clary sage bath and sex if dh feels up to it. If that doesn't work I give in.

DH decided to go for a drive this afternoon and made sure the route encorporated as many speed bumps as possible Tee hee.

motherinferior · 03/09/2005 19:20

Just nipping in to say best of luck everyone - and hey, LL, no they don't always. TEND doesn't mean HAVE TO. Mine wasn't. Hang on to that thought

bubbles2904 · 03/09/2005 19:35

lady l, my first was 4 days late but my friends first baby was 4 weeks early so i agree with m-i, nothing is certain in childbirth. wasn't lemuel moschops first?

PiccadillyCircus · 03/09/2005 20:07

LadyL, my DS was 11 days early. And out of 7 babies around his age (all first babies), one was 3 weeks early, one was 6 days early, he was 11 days early, one arrived on its due date (and one was 10 days late, another 11 days late and another 2 weeks late, but don't focus on them too much ).

I think I will feel as if DS2/DD is late if they don't come on Monday, as that's when DS arrived. In fact, as labour started with waters breaking at 6:30 am the day before, part of me feels that will be happening tomorrow morning as well .

Raspberry leaf tablets taken, nipples tweaked, might try sex again, but sadly no curry or pineapple in the house.

Come on September babies .

andif · 03/09/2005 20:42

Congratulations to ZZ and family!!
Had awful period-type pain at 5am this morning, and lay there working out how ds2's party could go on without me!! All ground to a halt though and made it through the day. Now totally exhausted after party with 15 5/6 year olds (not at home, thank goodness!) Could do with a really good night's sleep then baby tomorrow night maybe!! (boys have rugby training in the morning which I will NOT be alllowed to interrupt!!!!)

Redhelen · 03/09/2005 20:46

Had my curry and 3 lots of rasberry leaf tea! Not sure if I dare try the tweeking again! Don't want the pain - no gain!!!

beatie · 03/09/2005 22:03

Daisydot ~ I too looked at Daisy's website. What a beautiful little girl. How wonderful that you have been able to create something positive for others out of your sadness.

elasticated · 03/09/2005 22:08

Hi all
Just popping in quickly to let you know that baby elasticated arrived 2 weeks early last saturday, pretty speedy labour and just made it to the hospital in time to push! Haven't had a chance to read through all posts so congratulations to any other late august/early september babies and hope all bumps are doing ok. will post more and catch up with everyone elses news next week.
Take care

beatie · 03/09/2005 22:09

I'm probably the only one who's hoping my baby won't arrive until after my due date (9/9/05) because I still haven't recovered from my dental pain. I'm lucky if I can drink anything but water through a straw... I couldn't take my hands off my ice pack for long enough to tweak my nipples, and whilst DD is at my parents tonight and I'd love to have sex with my DH, I'm scared it will work and put me in labour.

I saw an emergency dentist yesterday and she tortured me for a bit. Who knows what poor baby thought. She drilled out an old failing, root canal and put on a temporary dressing. Since returning home the side of my face swelled up like the Elephant Man. I'm really hoping I don't have to give birth looking and feeling like this.

I got antibiotics from my GP but still think there is an abscess in my mouth which needs draining. The swelling is extreme. I'm going to endure the drop-in emergency dentist at the hospital tomorrow and beg them to do something. I'm 39 weeks pregnant people! All I want to be doing is focusing on giving birth, serenely. Instead I am struggling to eat and sleep and downing pain kilelrs and antibiotics. It makes my desire for a natural childbirth seem somewhat ironic.

So, if you like, someone can take my place and have their baby this coming week and I'll take the week after
