Really glad you have got some positive news jeffily wishing that it continues to be good news.

mendip good news on your screening results Smile

Also nice to hear everyone elses scans are positive.

I had my booking today with the Midwife was very strange to be on the other side of the desk! Glad to hear that the rest of my antenatal care will be based at gp surgery rather than having to bus it to hospital every time.

I have appt for booking and screening bloods on 31st then scan on 6th want it to hurry up!

KPidgeon · 27/08/2010 14:04

Hi all,
Lovely to hear Jeffily's better news. Great stuff. And hearing all about the scans.. am so impatient for mine now!

I've had a prawn sandwich for the last 2 days at work- was majorly craving them. Looking online I don't know if this was totally wise.

Anyone know anymore about prawns?

Good luck am988 with your trip to Scotland. We're going on our (late) honeymoon from London to Skye a week Saturday and it's all by train. I booked the tickets yonks ago (pre pregnancy) and our first train is at 6AM from King's Cross. That early morning wake up is going to be painful.

Do you have seabands? Mine have definitely helped with the morning all day sickness. Hope you feel okay anyway.

KP

mixedmamameansbusiness · 27/08/2010 14:49

Jeffily - very pleased to see some more positive news and am turning up my positive vibes. Grin

Dont know much about prawns but I just adopt the not over indulging in anything we shouldnt attitude. I think someone was talking about it in relation to drinking the other day... everything in moderation. If you have eaten them two days in a row you are prob over that craving now anyway Wink Isnt it freshly shelled type prawns?

mixedmamameansbusiness · 27/08/2010 14:50

Talking of things booked before pregnancy. I booked a table at a fab Michelin star restaurant for our anniversary (today for tomorrow) and had to cancel as it is so expensive and there is every possibilty that they will put the food in front of me and i wont be able to eat it. Biscuit

KPidgeon · 27/08/2010 15:00

mixedmamameansbusiness - gutted- what a shame.

Happy Anniversary though..! You've got a lovely present inside you instead.

Yeh- it's quite cheap prawn cocktail prawns from the college canteen. I'm sure I'll be okay. I'm finding it hard to avoid everything we're supposed to avoid and get a lot of variety.

Phew- almost the bank holiday weekend- I cannot wait!

superpenguin · 27/08/2010 16:07

Hello everyone!
Just catching up with you all as was in a bit of rush when I posted about my scan on Tues.

mendipgirl when are you planning to tell your boss?

zatzi I really felt for you reading about your missed scan, they really messed things up there. I wouldn't have blamed you if you had lost your temper! Glad you got your appt booked in the end and so glad to read that your scan went well.

Larty and ocean - I also know nothing about prams and things. Have months before we need to start worrying about that though! :)

spilt i am jealous of your maternity jeans - going shopping tomorrow!

mixed sorry to hear your sonographer was so rude.

brambly so glad to hear you finally got your scan!

jeffily been thinking of you, was so glad to read your good news.

pippippip i am amazed at your music-festival-going-to! I used to love my festivals but don't think I could cope with going whilst pregnant so good for you!

Interesting to read people's views about alcohol in pregnancy. Personally I just haven't felt like drinking at all due to the sickness, but will have to consider this when I feel better. I know the advice always seems to change and there is very little in the way of solid evidence, but I am not sure if I will drink or not.

welcome to doubleshotlatte!

welcome to lucyhoneychurch too and congrats on your scan!

clucky that's amazing that they thought they could tell the sex so early!

madas and coral and evian and sam and gemma and hattie - glad to hear your scans went well too. :) what a lot of scans!

hattie i had a dizzy spell yesterday too, not had any before so will see how it goes. hope you're ok.

am988 hope you have a nice time in scotland and the journey isn't too bad.

Hello to everyone else too - hope you are all doing well.

Well, everyone we know now knows I'm pregnant. It's nice not to have to keep it secret any more.

Have a lovely bank holiday weekend everyone.

mendipgirl · 27/08/2010 17:02

I think as long as the prawns were well cooked you are okay, and if you were going to get food poisoning you would probably have had it by now...I've had a couple of supermarket prawn sandwiches Blush.

Might tell my boss next week if I can get the courage, we don't work in the same office, so I was going to wait till I see him again which won't be for a couple of weeks, so might just phone him instead...at least then he will have some time to digest the news before I see him. It's getting too hard to be quiet about it, it's such a big deal and all I can think about so I need to get it out in the open, especially when we are making plans for next year etc. Whereas my plans for next year are to spend it at home with DD and new baby.

Is anyone planning to find out what they are having?

And have you started thinking about names yet? DD had to wait a week without a name, so I want to be a bit more organised this time.

FuzzyWuzzyWuz · 27/08/2010 17:26

Hello all,

Sorry it's been a while since I last posted, I lost the thread and then had to take a while to read through it all! Congratulations to all the new members, and fingers crossed for those who've been having a rough time of it.

We still aren't telling everyone yet, booking appt is next week, but we have started looking at cars as ours is really not suitable for a baby seat. Currently looking at a Citroen C3 and buggies that will fit in the back so it's all feeling a bit more real and exciting Grin

flower11 · 27/08/2010 19:06

had my 12 week scan today, very bad news baby has anencephaly ( form of spina bifida where brain and skull do not develop)which means pregnancy is not viable.

flower11 so so sorry for you . Really hope things go well in the future for you. < hugs>
Wow Superpenguin you are very good at remembering everyone..i'm impressed [ smile ] !!
I am going away for a few days tomorrow morning back to Suffolk where DS was born!! Thankfully, m/s has eased a lot and am now not dreading the 4 hour drive!!
mendipgirl we have kicked a few names about but not seriously yet, bit of a dilema with finding out though!! I don't want to know, we didn't find out with DS1, however DH does this time. I see his point of view we can sort out clothes and nursery etc but at the end of the day its a baby and it will be wearing pretty much white and lemon for first couple of weeks as i love babies in white!! He is away for the next 9 weeks on a course and i am kind of hoping that scan will be when he's away so won't have to face that problem, does that make me a bad person???!!!

me23 · 27/08/2010 20:54

oh flower11 I'm so sorry to hear your news, please take care of yourself I wish you all the best.

Madasajarofwasps · 27/08/2010 21:10

flower11 I am so very sorry to hear your sad news. What a shock for you and your partner. Tomorrow will be hard for you and I will be thinking of you. Please be kind to yourself and take it easy and give yourself time to grieve. I hope you get the support you need.

I wish you all the best for the future and happier times ahead xxx

Medee · 27/08/2010 22:06

Very sorry to hear your news, Flower

Larty74 · 28/08/2010 09:24

thinking of you flower11

Purplefan · 28/08/2010 10:48

Hi all,
Just checking in after wet, short uk holiday! Typically now that we are home, the sun is out!! Hmm We had a good time though and were just grateful to be in a caravan and not a tent!

Have scanned through posts quickly. Great to see so many have had their scans and now seen their little beans!

Hugs and thoughts to flower and Jeffily Is there any more news from Supersoph?

Larty sorry been away since you asked your question - I will be going to GWH in Swindon, which hospital are you going to? I see you are a teacher - so am I and I am not looking forward to returning to work next week!!! But I am always like that after a holiday!

Take care all!

Larty74 · 28/08/2010 11:21

Purplefan hope you had good hols despite weather! We decided on the JR as my GP was about to go on her maternity leave when I first went in at 6 weeks w/ her first. I asked her where she was going and she said the JR, so we thought alright. and you could watch videos online. sounds lame but i'm sure either one is fine - at the time though I felt like I was making the biggest decision of my life. Have you been to any appointments yet at GWH?

I am so not looking forward to school as well. My head is just not in it. Since my scan is on the 4th, and my inset day is the 7th, We are still holding out on telling anyone until after. It's a very small privately run montessori and only 3 of us teachers so will make quite an impact as this will be my final resignation from Dec/christmas holidays, but I was advised just to wait. i'm still giving ample notice. What are your plans for work?

EvaLongoria · 28/08/2010 12:11

Hi all.

(((Hugs))) to both Jeffily and flower.
Just a quick pop in need to pop out soon.

I had my booking appointment on Tuesday and midwife said that because of EMCS with DD and the fact that it reopened I will most probably have ELCS. I am okay with that. We havent had dating scan yet but she said if my due date is 18th March then they will probably have c-section on 11th March so I will know more nearer the time and dates after scan.

Hope all of you are having a nice long weekend. We are taking DD to Gulliver's in Milton Keynes but planned on shopping on Monday so DH just called to say he booked us in a hotel for Monday night (shopping during the day) and we can then take her on Tuesday night.

take care all.

EvaLongoria · 28/08/2010 12:12

Oops and meant to say congrats to everyone who had their scans.

Purplefan · 28/08/2010 12:18

Larty We managed to have a giggle on holiday despite the weather thanks. Smile
I am mainly going with the GWH because it is where I had DD (nearly 5 years ago now) - had EmCS due to pre-eclampsia and was pretty well looked after! Will have consultant led care this time according to mid-wife so expect all that will be arranged after scan on 9th Sept!

As far as work is concerned...I currently have a job-share and therefore work 3 days a week (Mon-Weds) this is perfect and I am intending to return to this at some point after baby! DD is starting school this September so will only have to pay childcare for one, when I return!!

I am not telling anyone at work until after the scan, but the first person that I will need to tell at work will be my job-share partner!!
Will plan to work up to Feb half-term, all being well, but will re-assess after dating scan. Are you not planning to return to work after baby?

Larty74 · 28/08/2010 14:10

Purplefan

Not planning on returning for sometime as I'm only part time as well (3- 1/2 days/week), no local family to help and I make peanuts (but I love it) so would be paying myself to go back, and it's our 1st. you never know, after the 1st year, I might be itching to go back. keeping an open mind! I've just recently gone through a mid-life career change and requalified myself to teach - finished at the end of last term -what timing! job share is the way forward it seems and i'm sure I'll be doing that one day.

good to hear you are being looked after well at GWH.

Larty74 · 28/08/2010 14:11

p.s. everyone:

happy bank holiday weekend! Grin

niamh29 · 28/08/2010 20:49

Flower: so sorry to hear your bad news!

I'm really quite terrified hearing all these bad news stories, I also have 2 friends who should be 10 weeks like me but had miscarraiges in the last couple of weeks.
My scan is Sept 9th and it really can't come too soon, every time I have a day where I'm not sick or tired I'm terrified that this is it, somethings gone wrong! I hate feeling like this!

Hopefully there won't be any more bad news for anyone on this thread, I'll be sending out the good vibes!!!

Zatzi · 28/08/2010 21:02

All best wishes and thoughts to Jeffily and Flower11

Now I've got through the twelve week scan decided it was about time to own up to the fact that I'm down to one pair of "fat" jeans and went shopping with a girlfriend.

I really cannot bring myself to move into maternity clothes - they are so limited and whilst I know I'm getting bigger the whole time they still seem scarily big and very expensive (I'm a Primark and H&M kind of budget).

Has anyone who's had a baby before tried living in "normal clothes" that are more flexible like wrap around coats / dresses in bigger sizes or jumper dresses and maternity leggings (or even just normal leggings worn under bump)?

Just cannot imagine spending so much money on clothes that I'll wear such a short time (although March does seem like a lifetime away!)

Thanks!

Hope everyone enjoying the long weekend - can't believe the sun came out today!
