me again, I THINK I have uploaded a scan photo - try clicking on my name and scroll down to "view gemma's photos". Goodness knows if its worked!!

Muser · 26/08/2010 10:15

You need to make your profile public gemma, at the moment we can't click on your name. There should be a box to tick somewhere.

Larty74 · 26/08/2010 10:27

what would we do w/o Muser!

BramblyHedge · 26/08/2010 11:28

Madasajarofwasps I thought I was a week less pregnant - bit confused as must have ovulated at the end of my period (do have a short cycle though).

jeffily · 26/08/2010 11:37

Hi everyone and thanks for your kind thought and messages. Hope all is well with you and scans are continuing apace showing healthy, happy babies wiggling about!

Well, we went back to be re-scanned yesterday and were prepared to do the CVS. I was convinced that the abdominal abruption would still be there and that we would really be coming out of there convinced that our baby had Edwards. But it seems to have totally cleared up! Baby was looking fine, growing well and exactly the right size for my dates. I could see the spine and the face- and was moving about more than last time. It was such a relief! So after some discussion with the consultant it turned out that the risk of miscarriage if we went for CVS would be the same as the risk of the baby having Down's (both 1.3%) so we are going to wait and have an amnio in 2 and a half weeks as that carries much lower risk of miscarriage (0.7%). Consultant was very reassuring and kind- we know him from our first preg anyway- and I feel much more hope that this little one will be healthy and we will not have to face the agonising decision I thought we would. It's more waiting though, but I am feeling much more positive.

I wanted to update you all, but I am trying to protect myself and am not really letting myself feel happy or believe that the baby will be ok until we have had the amnio and got the results back, so I'll probably not really be around for the next few weeks. Keep me on the list though, hopefully I shall be back with a vengence mid Sept!

Enjoy the next few weeks of blooming and telling people! Revel in those congratulations. All the best to you all. x

KPidgeon · 26/08/2010 11:37

Fab! Thanks Muser! I feel properly part of the gang now.. and you've translated what the #s etc mean..!

Hats off to you ladies here who are pregnant and being mums already to 1, 2, or 3 others small people. How do you do it?!

KP

KPidgeon · 26/08/2010 11:40

Ohhh, Muser- I just clicked on your profile and saw what you're reading at the moment.

My husband's parents are mentioned in that book- as they appeared on the TV show about the 3 day week.

They are also in this article:
entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/the_tls/article6486235.ece

Apart from that not many claims to fame!

Zatzi · 26/08/2010 11:56

jeffily I am so pleased you got some good news - really hope it continues to work out. Am still feeling a little over-emotional but tears of happiness are falling for you! All fingers crossed for next few weeks. xxxx

polkadottytotty · 26/08/2010 12:58

Fab news jeffily so pleased for you - hope you continue to get good news over the next few weeks.

Welcome to lucyhoneychurch and doubleshotlatte

Gemmasetters you are now my due date buddy! Although I havn't had my scan yet (its on Monday) and got a feeling it might go back a bit.

Lovely to hear about all your scans - its starting to feel real now.

Larty74 · 26/08/2010 13:44

jeffily what great news - enough to keep you going for the next two weeks anyway. so pleased. Grin

mama2plusbump · 26/08/2010 13:56

x

Madasajarofwasps · 26/08/2010 14:38

Jeffily I am so pleased you are feeling more positive now. Thank you for popping in to let us know how things are going. I totally understand how you just want to keep your head down and let time pass til your amnio. You are one brave lady. Take care and hope you are back soon xxx

mama best of luck for your scan tomorrow, I hope it all goes well for you and your pains ease soon.

sarahmia · 26/08/2010 18:02

Just wanted to pop on and say im so happy for you jeffily

Hattie05 · 26/08/2010 21:21

Thats good news Jeffily x take care.

I had my scan on wed and all is well, due date the same. So its real. I'm really going to be parent of four! Shock and thankfully once back doing the school run and at work i can admit to people i am pregnant as i have such a bump already.

Does anyone know what dizziness is a sign of?
i have to be careful because the slightest movement e.g bending down to pick something up, can make me so dizzy the world spins and i have to sit down or hold on to something before i collapse. Its driving me potty and means when i'm not at work i just feel like staying seated rather than getting on with housework and stuff.

Anyway cheers for now! happy maternity clothes shopping to all!

Madasajarofwasps · 26/08/2010 21:34

hattie fab news about your scan Smile. Dizziness could be a sign of low blood pressure or maybe low blood sugar - are you eating enough, regular snacks might help. Hope you feel better soon.

shitforbrains · 27/08/2010 08:37

hattie what Madas said.

I suffer from the same.

polkadottytotty · 27/08/2010 08:48

Hattie I've also had a bit of dizziness - mainly when I'm out and about shopping, or standing up for long periods of time.
I'm going to mention it to midwife at next appt - it could also be a sign of anaemia, but I've had my bloods taken and not heard anything back so probably not that.

Does anyone suffer from asthma?

I have mild asthma (use blue inhaler only) - and it has been much worse recently. I'm not sure if this is due to pregnancy or just beacause of the time of year, its generally worse during Summer. I'm also very bunged up and sneezy so could be hay fever related.

mendipgirl · 27/08/2010 11:09

My scan results have arrived, DH out at the moment, should be back soon and I promised we would open together...they are just sitting there watching me, begging to be opened!!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 27/08/2010 11:39

Mendigirl - wow incredible patience. The plus side of course is that generally the hosp will call if there is a problem so more than likely good news. Grin

mendipgirl · 27/08/2010 12:02

He's home, we've opened them. 1:2438! Hooray, very happy...especially at my old age! Grin

I went to see a couple of friends with new babies this week, you forget how small and lovely they are....and how much work!! Can't wait though....

EvianBaby · 27/08/2010 12:37

mendipgirl that's great news! I didn't get a phone call yesterday so I'm assuming all is ok

jeffily that sounds so positive, fab news! I've got everything crossed that there won't be anything at all to worry about next time you go to the hospital.

Welcome to all of the newbies and congratulations! Huge congrats also to everyone who have had scans this week. It's all so exciting isn't it?!?

I'm a bit tired, just taken DS to the botanic garden near our house, he dived into the water (complete with waterfalls and various water features!), he was drenched but had lots of fun. Lucky boy fell asleep in the car on the 5 minute journey home, I'm supposed to be tidying and sorting the house out! Instead I'm on here!

Have a great Friday everyone!

am988 · 27/08/2010 12:50

Hello Everyone!

Jeffily hoping all goes well, I think all our positive vibes are working so we should all switch them on for you for extra effect! You are very brave!
*mendipgirl' congrats for your patience and great news!

Good luck for all the scans - would like to mention all your names but brosing throught he screen is making me feel travel sick!!mine isn't till the 7th sept and i'm very impatient now.

Won't be on her for a while, going to scotland tomorrow for sister in law's wedding. I'm not looking fwd to the drive I've become very intolerant for travelling even on trains since i got pregnant - before i had no idea what being travelsick meant! we'll do lots of toilet stops so it will take us forever to get there from round North London but since tomorrow is technically 12wks all the nausea symptoms should vanish, right? I live in hope.

So see you on here later, good luck to all of you who have upcoming scans!

xx A
