Hi everyone

Well this thread has been so busy today and there's been so many scans etc. Lovely to hear of all the good news (unfortunately mixed in with some sad). It's lovely to hear about other people's experiences.

I had my scan today, I'm so relieved that everything looked ok. They took my blood (for the Nuchal screening combined result), and said that unless I hear by Thursday afternoon then I can assume everything is ok with the result. I'm obviously hoping that I don't get a phone call. My due date is exactly as I thought and not what my midwife said luckily, as 'my' date was two days earlier (!), so I am still due 10th March. Two days makes all the difference at the end I seem to remember from last time!

It is lovely being able to tell more people, it's been such a nice day. More people to tell tomorrow but i'm so tired that the rest of the phone calls and texts will have to wait. I somehow find the energy to update you all though

Oh Jeffily I am not sure what to say but wishing you and baby all the very best.

Clucky yes I hope to stay at QMS as I had my DD there, but it all depends over the next few months if they close some of it down. My other options would be PRUH or QEH but I think I would transfer to DVH in Dartford.

Pip did you go to V? I am so jealous if you did as I would have loved to have gone. However morning sickness is still nasty so not an option at all :(

Thanks PipPipPip- I did, in the end, have a thimbleful of champagne- as it was my boss's daughter's 21st birthday there was no way I could say no without owning up. I drank it over about an hour so I'm sure no harm done. That's it- no more social life for me until I come clean because I'm no good at lying!

I've had a few glasses of champagne and wine since getting pregnant KP. The odd glass won't do you any harm, even 1 glass once a week would be ok.

Kagey I didn't go to V Festival, but to a festival in Wales called Green Man Festival. Lots of fun, folkey vibe.

KPigeon and Muser I've been pretty relaxed about drinking since I got pregnant. This isn't because I'm a selfless demented cow, but because I've read quite a bit about drinking in pregnancy and I feel that a couple of drinks a week will be fine.

Obviously this is a personal choice - I'm not suggesting I am correct/right/an expert.

But I feel that I'll be fine if I eat well, exercise and don't drink more than 1-2 units a couple of times a week.

Both my mother and mother-in-law support me on this, and say "oh, we all drank back then".

I wonder what everyone else thinks about this?

I'm with the whole "back then" mindset. think of all the things they didn't have in those days - and those day before them, and so on. somehow we all ended up here alright!

Sadly I've completely gone off alchohol anyway - for the time being.

Glad to hear your scan went well Evian.

I quite fancied going to the Green Man Pip - my colleagues son was playing there, in a band called Evening Chorus, only seen them on Youtube but they seemed very good.

Regarding alcohol - my midwife told me at booking in, that the 'safe' limit is 2 units twice a week with at least 4 'dry' nights.

I had a mad craving for beer the other day and had one - it was lovely.

That's a relief- I mainly don't feel like drinking as I've been so nauseous but also feel that it's better to be safe than sorry. My MIL was the same though- said they all drank in the 70's! I'm sure it won't do any harm but I have a fairly low tolerance and so I'd rather go without.

Saying that I plan to breastfeed so does that mean no nice glass of red for me for ohhh- another year or more? Ouch!

I feel like I've turned a corner on my sickness in the last day or so- but am only 9 and half weeks so don't want to tempt fate by relaxing into this.. the vomiting could still make a come back!

Anyone else start to feel better before the 12 weeks? (hope, hope!)

Having just got back from scan, Jeffily I feel for you even more now. You must be so worried but you have all our thoughts with you.

I was very happy that mine looked fine and my due date has been confirmed so have added myself to the list. Baby was outrageously badly behaved and stood on its head most of the time I was there (hope not a sign of life to come!). I was made to lie on my side, then go to the loo(?!) and finally go for a ten minute walk - still barely kept still for a second but luckily just long enough to be measured. Just suck a joy (and relief!) to see it moving around and hear its heart beating.

jeffily am thinking about you today and hope you get good news.
Have just returned from nuchal scan and good news my odds were 1:100 cos of my old age , and after bloods and scan adjusted to 1:1042 [ grin ] was sooo lovely and now, finally, i am starting to feel more positive!! It was wriggling and sucking its thumb!! Even heard the heartbeat [ smile] it was well worth the money to have results there and then i was in and out in 1hr 45 mins!!

I've been lurking.... I'm 40, by my calculations my due date is 11th March '11, DD1 is about 2.5....

....but thought I'd post here today as my scan is tomorrow and reading about all your positive scan stories has given me so much hope. Specially love the descriptions of the little ones wriggling about

I was going to wait until scan before I jumped in here because I'm so apprehensive for tomorrow. We had a MC last year and memories of going to EPAU and seeing U/S monitor showing nothing there still haunts me . I had had some spotting in the days preceding, so some advance warning. It turned out to be an Embryonic pregnancy (I hate the term blighted ovum), it hadn't developed after 6 wks and got reabsorbed . Natural MC followed soon after. Couldn't go thru that again.

So, anyway, here's hoping for the best for my scan and that I'll join you on here for the next 6 months...

I just wanted to say that I completely understand your apprehension. I am so sorry for your loss last year. I really hope it all goes well tomorrow, will be thinking of you.

Right I really must steel myself and head out in the rain to walk the dog and air the children - they are going stir crazy. Some puddle jumping is required - where has summer gone???!

Forgot to add - yay to Zatzi and Sam I hope you are both feeling reassured and a bit more relaxed now.

Personally I refused the blood tests as I know that if they came back high risk I couldn't go through an amniocentesis to find out for sure. Didn't have the nuchal scan either, not that I think the hospital offered it. That's just me.

Still thinking of Jeffily I really hope there is good news soon.

Thanks pippip and madas it helps to know there are others out there who've been thru similar feelings. They will be doing the nuchal as well, results after a while I think.

Best of luck doubleshotlatte I hope all goes well. I had an ectopic pregnancy in February and hearing them say "I'm sorry we can't see anything" haunted me through all my scans. But this time round everything was grand. I hope it's the same for you.

They NHS took pity on me and I got a last minute scan today - am further along than I thought which is confusing.

Morning all,

Welcome and congratulations to all the newbies on this thread and congratulations to all who have had good news from scans over the last few days.
Still thinking of Jeffily and hoping for good news.

Well, I had my dating/nuchal scan yesterday. Had a similar experience to you Zatzi in the baby just wasn't playing ball - was sitting down and refusing to pose making it very hard to get the crown to rump measurement.
Eventually the sonographer sent me off to the loo and when I came back said she would have a go at scanning transvaginally. Had the slightly comedic experience of watching her roll a durex onto the probe whilst DH sat there looking a bit green :)
It seemed to work and saw the most amazing images of little bean wriggling and rolling about and even better to hear that everything is all present and correct at this stage.
Got a massive shock when the sonographer then said, "would you like to know the sex - because the images have been so good I can tell you with about 70% certainty" . As we were always intending to find out, we asked her to tell us what she thought but have decided not to tell anyone as I can't say I'm really that convinced!
Have also been put back a couple of days on EDD and am now 12+2 due on 8th March - have amended list below.
Good luck to everyone else having scans over the next few days - it's a truly magical experience.

wow clucky, that's rather impressive. 70% is a leeeeeetle bit too vague before spending money on pink or blue yet though eh!

I am fine. Can still wear normal clothes but as I was a heifer to start with you can't wonder at it really.
