polka i also have had really mild period type pains. nothing sharp or really bad but like you said and sort of niggling. I am hoping this is just growing pains and nothing to worry about. Got my 12 week scan today at 9.45 so fingers crossed!

EvianBaby · 20/08/2010 07:43

bluebeach good luck for your scan this morning - enjoy!

polkadottytotty · 20/08/2010 08:52

Thanks bluebeach thats reassuring - they've stopped now, and from what I've read I think you're right, must be stretching pains.
Hope the scan goes brilliantly - let us know how you get on.

Oceanbreeze · 20/08/2010 09:12

Muser fantastic picture! Has made me even more impatient for mine now...and I really didn't think that was possible Wink

Larty74 I've got the Lesley Regan book, which I've found really useful...trying not to skip ahead to any, er, scary bits yet though.

Polka I've had cramps too but its easing off the last week or so.

Bluebeach good luck with scan.

coraltoes · 20/08/2010 09:57

Hello! polka i've had the odd stretching pain, nothing as bad as a period pain but enough to make me think "ooh whats this now!"

Is anyone else getting an itchy belly/ boobs? Mine get itchy at night, i wonder is it skin stretching or what. Have slathered Shea butter all over myself to see if it helps.

I cannot cannot wait to announce my preg. at work. Have started to wear looser clothes for comfort and it really isn't my style (normally fitted dresses etc) so can tell people are looking at me a bit oddly. Or maybe i'm being paranoid. DH says i look the same just a tiny bit podgier around my middle.

I've bought some maternity skinny jeans and leggings, as whilst all my normal jeans are fine, my skinny ones wont do up anymore (they were always the ones to wear when at my slimmest, so hardly a surprise). I figure when the belly bulges out, my legs will suddenly be the slim bit of me (first time for everything!).
FYI French connection has some fab loose tops/jumpers at the mo, perfect for disguising any sign of a bump for the ladies still not announcing. I bought a fab long jumper in a size up to wear later this autumn and some long cardis. I love having an excuse to shop!!

good luck today bluebeach

will look for the books this weekend, am in need of some educating i think!!
FYI Babycentre is worth registering on. You get a weekly email saying what to expect at the stage you're at, what size baby is, what is developing etc. All for free.

Medee · 20/08/2010 10:43

Hello, ready to jump on this thread now. Just had my first scan (am 10+4) and all is normal - due date of 12 March, hurrah!

Larty74 · 20/08/2010 12:33

Supposedly 12 weeks today and running out of creative ways to 'hide' what i'd like to think is a little bump, or just a bit of bloating! never can tell. Blush Cant wait to do some shopping myself but another 2 weeks until scan. C'MON!!!

Quick question about 1st scan and NUCHAL tests. Do you find out results right then and there of both scan and blood test or do you have to wait for blood test results to get combined best answer?

Hello Medee. welcome!

SuperSoph73 · 20/08/2010 14:33

Hey all, thanks for your kind words. How you doing pushmepullyou? Well, I don't think it's looking too good at the moment. I went to the hosp yesterday and (although midwife reckons I'm 9 weeks today) they did a scan which shows that I'm only 6 weeks pregnant! Anyway, they could barely see anything and couldn't see whether there was a heartbeat or not so I've just got to wait until next Fri when I'm having another scan. I'm still bleeding, although it's more concentrated in the mornings and I still have very mild stomach cramps. If they get worse or the bleeding is the same as a period then I have to go back to the hospital.

I guess it's just a case of wait and see. Please keep your fingers crossed for us.

emma31177 · 20/08/2010 15:59

supersoph aww keeping my fingers crossed for u and ure family hope all ok xx thinking of u

pushmepullyou · 20/08/2010 16:51

Oh supersoph thinking of you Sad. Any chance you could be a bit out with your dates?

I seem to have stopped spotting (at least for the moment) and haven't had anything more. I am quite achy in my stomach and back though, which I am a bit worried about.

I need to book a private scan really but keep putting it off as I kind of don't want to know.

sam26oscar · 20/08/2010 17:51

fingers crossed for you both supersoph and pushmepullyou don't know how you can wait that long supersoph i think i would go mental!!
Re: Nuchasl scans. i paid to have a nuchal scan with my DS at 12 weeks and got results that day, am also paying again for this pg and fully expect to have results that day too. At £200 I will be cross if i have to wait!! M/s seems to be easing a lot now (thank god) and just seem to get it after breakfast til 3/4pm. In fact i have just shared a pizza with DS yay!!! It got so bad that DS started asking why he had to finish his tea when i wasn't even eating anything Blush hopefully can get him and me back on track, maybe in a few weeks he might tell me i am eating too much Grin.am out for lunch with mum and dad tomorrow for their wedding anniversary and they still don't know but i have no idea how to cover up very prominent bump?? only got til wed then all being well can tell them!!

bluebeach · 20/08/2010 19:46

supersoph I am keeping all things possible crossed for you, how horrid to have to now wait till next week. Hopefully the dates were out and if you are only 6 weeks it would be hard to see a heartbeat. Sending you positive thoughts and lots of love.

pushmeI understand your apprehension at wanting a scan but it's horrid to be worried. I'm sure you would get good news and it would put your mind at rest. Not sure whats its like where you are but I got a scan at the EPU after bleeding within 48 hours on the NHS and still got to have my 12 week scan, but I know everywhere is different. It's good that you have stopped spotting now though.

medee congratulations!

Thanks for all the scan goodlucks. Everything looked fine though I have a very lazy baby who only moved a little bit! Was great to see it again, though it was such a quick scan I wanted it to go on for longer!

HI Larty I am 12 weeks today too! I'm not totally sure about about all test results, but I had my blood tests today and they said they would ring me in a few days if anything showed up a problem, if not I will get the results at my next midwife appointment. I don't think they did a nuchal fold test, but I had the 1st part of the downs blood test today. The second part will be at my next MW ap. Sounds like going private speeds things up a lot!!

I definitely am bigger around the middle and I can't do up any of my jeans. I bought a pack of 3 of those belly bands from newlook for under £10 and they are great for hiding my gaping flies. Luckily I work from home though so I'm mainly wearing pajama bottoms (ok, so I did always wear these, now I have an excuse!).

spilttheteaagain · 20/08/2010 20:58

Snap bluebeach my 3 for £10 newlook bump bands arrived today! Also 2 pairs of their under bump mat jeans at £16 each which seem really quite nice!

Did you have your scan at Stroud? Really glad it went well. I was soooo very tempted to do a runner before the blood test after they said in the ultrasound dept "you need to go across the road to maternity for your blood test"... you mean I have to walk PAST my car and not get in it and escape??!

Congratulations on your little one, and on getting your dates exactly right! (I was a week wrong Blush)

bluebeach · 20/08/2010 21:35

Thanks spilt! Yeah I had my scan at Stroud, I didn't realise the hospital was so small, it feels so funny having to go over the road to another hospital to get your blood tests done!
I liked the look of the maternity hospital although I did see a visiting dad come in with a plate of food covered in foil which makes me wonder about the cateringSmile.

Glad everything is going well with you.

Oceanbreeze · 20/08/2010 22:40

Well, you pair have inspired me...just been on New Look site and bought a few bits...even though I promised myself I wouldn't til after scan Grin so tired of just looking like I've eaten all the pies, and trying to keep it under wraps (no pun intended)

Coraltoes, I've been a bit itchy too, had read somewhere it might happen. Also, has anybody else developed odd body hair? I swear if mine keeps up, I'm gonna be known as the amazing bearded pregnant lady. Oh the shame Blush. Shame compounded by the fact that I did a monster sneeze today, and er leaked. Soooo glad I was at home.

Glad your scan went well bluebeach I've started worrying about the whole full bladder issue now, as well as everything else

Thinking of you Supersoph.

spilttheteaagain · 21/08/2010 09:54

ocean I've given up trying to keep on top of my leg hair, it's being most prolific!

When I had my scan, the woman doing it said "and there's your bladder, which is HUGE!" and I was there thinking "yes trust me, I KNOW!" Apparently they've increased how much they want you to drink and my sonographer thought it was a bit unneccessary. Just do the best you can.

bluebeach I had heard that the food at Stroud is excellent, so maybe the man was taking extra food in for his DW, or maybe for him.

I'm leaning more towards the homebirth now (to my colleague's horror!), because as I understand it you can have all the same stuff at home as you can at Stroud. And if I need to be transferred to Gloucester, the ambulance base is actually only 5 mins from my house, so from my place it is probably quicker than being transferred from Stroud. Still musing though.

me23 · 21/08/2010 14:21

Hi everyone

I have been really suffering with ms the last 2 weeks, in fact I have actually vomitted 3 days in a row now and always between 5-6 in the evening. It's strange how I can feel so sick yet still be so hungry.
At the moment dp has been making a lot of my meals because I can't face cooking yet I can eat it Hmm

Also have cravings for ice pops and chips with brown sauce! (not at the same time luckliy)

Is anyone else so exhausted that they are unable to function? I did suffer with exhaustion before pregnancy and now it is worse it is really debilitating and feel quite down with it at the moment. I am signed off work with it as I really cannot do anything Sad

Larty74 · 21/08/2010 14:22

bluebeach

EVERYDAY is pajama bottom day in my house as well! no excuses needed. :)

bluebeach · 21/08/2010 15:09

ocean and spilt, today I bought a new razor after having to give up using my epilator, it just seems so much more painful now a days. I also have developed downy hair all over my belly, I thought we were just meant to get lovely hair on our heads, not all this other nonsense!

A home birth sounds like a good plan for you, though the idea of it scares me a bit still. I'm glad you have heard good things about the food at Stroud.

The first scan I had I drank so much water I felt really sick waiting for the scan, plus they were running half an hour late so I was actually in pain but didn't trust myself to 'partially empty my bladder'. The second scan was at 9.45 so I didn't drink anything that morning until 8.45 and only drank 2 pints, not a drop more. I was a lot more comfortable, though I did think the first scan appeared a lot clearer (though could have just been the machine).

Sorry me23 that you feeling so tired. I have become so lazy and untidy. I hope you have someone to help you out at home.

LartyGrin

polkadottytotty · 21/08/2010 19:15

Thinking of you supersoph - hope you get some good news next week.

Well I wore my new maternity trousers today fot the first time - 11 weeks tomorrow but starting to feel a bit cramped in my normal clothes.

I bought a pair of these - for work really, but they are so comfy I couldn't resist wearing them. I would definitely recommend them if anyone is looking for work trousers and they are a reasonable price too.

Muser · 22/08/2010 12:24

Hey all. On scans, I did not drink before my 12 week scan as it didn't say too in my letter. I tried to have a glass just in case but immediately threw it up. I did have a full bladder though, as I always seem to. And I was sent away to empty it as it was too full.

I personally wouldn't worry too much about drinking gallons of water. Take a bottle to sip from maybe, but don't try and down pints of the stuff.

MummyGeorgie · 22/08/2010 12:40

Hi,

I'm new to this thread and wondered if I might be added to the list please.

Baby number one is due on 1st March (awaiting dating scan on 28th August though!!)

Based on the Oxfordshire/ Berkshire/ Buckinghamshire boarders if anyone would like to get in touch.

jeffily I hope everything works out well for you!!

SuperSoph73 I have my fingers crossed for you, I really hope everything turns out ok!! > Hugs.

Purplefan · 22/08/2010 14:28

Hi everyone,

Welcome to MummyGeorgie, I live in Wiltshire so guessing not too far away from you.

SuperSoph fingers are still crossed for good news Smile

Muser my scan letter doesn't mention a full bladder either, I am sure when I had DD (almost 5 years ago) it was mentioned in the letters so guess not so important now, perhaps technology has advanced!!
I am off on holiday tomorrow with DD, my sister and her boys for 4 nights at Haven.. should be a giggle. Everyone take care and hope to catch up on lots of good news next weekend. Grin

Medee · 22/08/2010 17:57

I had to go with a full bladder, but thankfully was taken straight away. Apparently it takes 40 minutes from drinking to hitting your bladder.

Hattie05 · 22/08/2010 18:07

Hi all,

Jeffily so sorry to hear your news, must feel devastating at the moment, but fingers crossed all will be fine.

We've decided agains the nuchal scans - not sure it thats the right thing to do or not! Having a dating scan next week can't wait to check all is fine.

Welcome Larty - how come you have such a long wait for a scan? I'm early March too.

I think my nausea has mostly come to an end, just extremely thirsty now. Finding my 9mth old and 3 year old tricky as they still want to climb all over my tummy and don't understand why i don't want to be elbowed there! tis only going to get harder me thinks ...
