Fantastic Jeffily Grin Delighted for you Grin Grin

pushmepullyou · 15/09/2010 16:15

Sorry i haven't been around much for the last week or so. My BIL has been in hospital with probable leukemia, so it's all been very stressulf here, not least because he and DH are extremely close.

Still waiting for results so don't really know what's going on yet but will be checking back in when I can.

spilttheteaagain · 15/09/2010 18:38

jeffily that's fantastic! I'm so happy for you Smile

purplefan thinking of you, CVS sounds like a nasty procedure. Hope you get some goods news shortly, it must be hellish waiting.

pushme I'm so sorry to hear about your BIL.

Has anyone seen coraltoes or snapdragon in recent times? I know they were both having awful MS so hoping they're both feeling a lot better now.

spilttheteaagain · 15/09/2010 18:43

I had my 16 week check up today (am 16+5 and counting the days!) and the baby is still doing well.

We listened to the heartbeat which was 140bpm. Of course I then scuttled off to see which gender it might be (although apparently that old wives tale is a load of tosh!) and the internet says less than 140 is a boy and more than 140 is a girl, so none the wiser anyway!

I've been referred to the physio now because I'm struggling so much with back and hip pain (especially hips today, they feel hot and inflamed and hurt when I sit and esp when I drive). My MW said its not normal to have this much discomfort already and it could be SPD/PGP Confused... oh joy

I've booked for homebirth now. Soooo looking forward to not being pregnant anymore!

FuzzyWuzzyWuz · 15/09/2010 19:13

hello all... been away for a while as I was starting to wonder if I'd imagined all my symptoms... However, had my OSCAR scan today and everything is as it should be, which is a relief but slightly scary at the same time. They have moved my due date slightly to 27th March.

Congrats to all those who've joined since I was last here, thinking of those who've been having a hard time.

Fuzzy

Medee · 15/09/2010 19:54

What does OSCAR stand for?

polkadottytotty · 15/09/2010 20:10

Fab news jeffily - so glad things are looking up for you and your baby.

Hope you get good news soon too purplefan.

Is anyone else really craving fruity things?
All i want to drink at the moment is Fanta and I've just eaten a whole tin of mandarins.

polkadottytotty · 15/09/2010 20:13

Whoops didn't mean to post that quite then. Wanted to add

Hope you get some good news about your BIL pushme.

Glad your 16 wk check went well spilt - got mine next week.

chickiewoo · 15/09/2010 20:22

Great to hear your fab news jeffily - you must feel so relieved that things are looking more positive for you. Still thinking of you purplefan and hoping you get good news - hang on in there. I had a really bad day yesterday with vomiting - had to stay in bed and couldn't keep a thing down! Better day today so I've eaten like a horse and am still eating! Still bleeding but feel reassured following my scan this week. Next scan is taking place next Monday when I will be 13 weeks plus 3, so am keeping everything crossed for continuing good news. Will keep you all posted.

StrangewaysHereICome · 16/09/2010 10:57

Jeffily wow I am so pleased for you. Lets hope the rest of the results are just as good. Phew the last few weeks must have been so hard for you. Big hugs xx

Pushme I am so sorry to hear about your BIL - I hope he gets good news and is back on his feet soon.

purple still thinking of you xx

chickie poor you being so sick - glad you are feeling better and munching for England!

I am really hungry too - I graze all day, despite the ongoing nausea. Lots of people have said I look really well which is lovely to hear, it will be nice to feel like I am blooming too.

I am getting so excited about meeting this baby now, February just seems so far away! Saying that though it will no doubt be Christmas in no time - eek! Maybe I should start the shopping now?!

I am getting more movements now which are lovely and reassuring. I just want to get the 20 week scan out of the way on 7th Oct. With my second daughter they they found a kidney problem which was a worry at the time, thankfully it did resolve.

Sorry for the ramble - hope everyone else is well x

mixedmamameansbusiness · 16/09/2010 11:17

Hello all.

Fantastic that a lot of the worrying has turned into good news. So pleased for everyone and thinking of those still waiting for that final bit of news.

ROFL at the idea of being embarrassed about telling people - this is my 3rd baby and I was still mortified about telling my dad and told him over the phone because I just couldnt bear the face to face aspect.

Everything ticking along here. Still a bit of sickness and finicky food choices going on, but I have managed to start cooking properly again so that is good.

16 wk appointment next week, looking forward to it, especially with the heartbeat etc. Really not that long till 20 week scan (20th Oct here).

I am also going to start buying bits and pieces when I do the weekely shopping, breast pads, nappies etc.

I have picked out the pushchair that I want, but wont be getting that until much much nearer the time.

jeffily · 16/09/2010 11:53

Well I woke up this morning and thought "I am actually going to have a baby!" and it was a wonderful moment.16 weeks today- apparently the baby is now the size of an avocado! I am feeling sooo much happier, and it makes me realise what a cloud we have been living under for the last month. Now just want to get the next few weeks out of the way, so that I am at the stage where if the baby decides to come early it will be ok. A good friend went into labour this morning- I am almost (almost!) envious!

It's nice to be back!

jeffily · 16/09/2010 11:53

Thinking of you purple and hoping that you get a call with good news today. xx

Lozario · 16/09/2010 12:46

Hello, I'm due on March 23rd, it will be my second baby. My first is still a baby really - 15 months, boy - we'll have a 21 month age gap and I'm absolutely bricking it, how will I cope???! Oh well people manage don't they. Have to say I'm not enjoying this pregnancy at all - so sick!!!- but pleased that we'll be completing our family. (unless DH gets his way with a third!!!)

so hope it's ok if I join in :)

superpenguin · 16/09/2010 13:20

Hello everyone!
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, been busy at work and not much chance to get on the internet.
Just been reading through the posts, what a rollercoaster of a time it's been for some of you, I was glad to hear that chickie's scan showed good news.

Welcome to all the new people too, I can't get over how many of us there are now!

I'm 15+6 now (arrghh! that has gone so quickly!) and STILL feeling sick. I can't believe I'll be 16 weeks tomorrow.

Didn't help that I had a nightmare of a business trip yesterday, got picked up at 6.30am and didn't get home until 10pm, inbetween having 3 hours of being in a car and 5 hours of being in a plane, which involved 4 flights, so 4 take-offs and 4 landings, all in one day. and it was quite a small propellor plane and really windy so a very bumpy ride too. Felt SO sick. Somehow managed to concentrate in my meeting in the middle of it all, although to top it all I had forgottten to tell them I was veggie and there was nothing at all I could eat. Lucky I'd had a big breakfast in the airport but by mid-afternoon was starving, I even resorted to sneaking out to hide in the loo to eat a choc bar I had in my handbag! As soon as I got home, nauseous and exhausted, I was horribly sick too. Dear me.
Luckily I don't have to do mad travelling like that for work very much but I think I won't go if it comes up again.

People were saying about feeling movement, I feel all sorts of weird feelings sometimes but no idea if it's the baby moving or what it is.

Hope everyone else is ok.

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 16/09/2010 14:27

Penguin I'm 15 and 5 - and also really cannot believe how fast time has flown. Your trip sounds like a nightmare - I'm just back from 2 days in the Middle East and it wiped me out!

Am relieved to hear you've got odd sensations too - as a first timer I've no idea what to expect but the little tiny pinches and momentary aches have been confusing me - am just hoping it's normal and looking forward to next appointment and 20 week scan. Smile

gem3225 · 16/09/2010 14:46

Hi thanks for the thread, i didnt see it before, but im not really with it these days!!

im due 9 march, had my 12 week scan on the 24 Aug,all ok, the bubba was a little mover. The clearest picture as well, i couldnt quite believe my eyes....

The most amazing day of my life (so far).

I have had my first midwife app too, it was 1 sep and i heard the heartbeat again which was reasuring.

I wish i could hear it everyday to put my mind at ease as my next app isnt until 7 oct with the midwife again.

Good luck everyone, and for those who are worried, i will be thinking of you and fingers crossed all is ok.

xx thanks for the thread

mixedmamameansbusiness · 16/09/2010 15:02

Welcome Gem. Glad you found us.

Larty74 · 16/09/2010 15:10

Hello everyone and welcome Gem and Lozario

So I bought my first thing for the baby today. Hadn't intended to buy anything but could not resist as it's an outfit that had a sweet embroidery of Patches and Tilly (dog and cat)my beloved cat and first baby is called Tilly and we've got a dog, but not called Patches. hey ho, still couldn't stop myself. I think this may be the start of a very dangerous habit! :-)

FuzzyWuzzyWuz · 16/09/2010 18:34

Medee, it stands for One Stop Clinical Assessment of Risk and it's where they take blood and do a nuchal fold scan to check for chromosomal anomalies such as Down's, Edward's and Patau's. Not sure if other hospitals call it something else, we had to pay for it but thought it would be good peace of mind (and it was). NHS has been very slow in organising my dating scan so it was nice to finally know that there really is somebody in there.

Purplefan · 16/09/2010 18:50

Hi all,

We have now had our results. Unfortunately, baby has been diagnosed with Turners syndrome. Therefore, we know that we are having another girl.

On the plus side, it is not fatal... but we honestly don't know enough about turners to make an informed decisson about this pregnancy. We have an appointment with a consultant at the hospital 2moro to discuss things further and will have another appointment with a genetics expert in Oxford next week. Once we have a fuller picture we will decide what to do.

Hope you are all well. Speak soon xx

nancydrewrocked · 16/09/2010 19:14

purplefan I am so sorry - what a shock for you.

I hope you get some sensible information from the consultants so that you can make the right decisions for you and your family.

take care.

chickiewoo · 16/09/2010 20:29

purplefan - so sorry to hear your news - love and strength to you and your family during this difficult time. We are all thinking of you here xx
